7.9 Good
Pros: The view of the river was fantastic.
Cons: This property was overrated. The place was pleasant and clean but furniture was old and the breakfast was basic. The staff could not speak much English and so could not help advise much on things to do. The information guide in the room was very basic and tatty. Overall the placed lacked some love and attention and should probably not be charging what it does.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The pool and outdoor area were amazing and so relaxing to soak up the gorgeous views!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location was simply unbeatable. There cannot be a better view in the entire Douro Valley. The breakfast was fantastic. The pool and surrounding area made it feel like you were at a luxury retreat.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great view over the Douro river from a nice balcony. Best pace to relax and get away from all.
6.3 Good
Pros: Okay view, room and pool area.
Cons: Not very interesting breakfast, bad coffee and nothing was really good - needs to be improved! Service was very neutral and not personal at all. No attention to details. No information regarding the area or useful tips. Pillows not hard and big enough. The room needed in general some maintenance. A bit outdated. Will not be coming back!

Pros: This country house is a quiet slice of heaven. The hostess and staff were excellent and it had a relaxed and welcoming feel. The house is charming and the facilities were more than adequate. However, to talk about facilities misses the point of this exceptional place.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: food was good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is so unique, so calm since it’s located further from the valley and has this particular atmosphere. It consists of 4 guest rooms only so you feel very privately. 9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location and epic views across the Duoro valleys. Swimming pool Sonia who runs the place is amazing - super helpful and very knowledgeable - including an excellent wine tasting session and booked us some great places to eat nearby. The Manor House is wonderful and stately. Rooms were huge and clean. Nice breakfast. Would highly recommend!
Cons: The chef was ill so we couldn’t have dinner at the house which was a shame. But as an alternative Sonia booked us some lovely restaurants nearby which also had great views.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location and views, good breakfast.
Cons: Inside little musty smell (old building/furniture)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Almost everything
Cons: Breakfast room a little dark and chilly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful area and old estate home with great views of Port wine vineyards. Lovely pool overlooking views. The young lady in reception is very friendly and helpful.
Cons: As the home is supposed to be non smoking but owner took liberty of smoking cigars through the house. The smell bothered all of us specially me that I am asthmatic. This showed a disregard for the guest as the home was informed of my health issue prior to arrival.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful staff, very nice and always ready to attend to us in any request. The bed was very comfortable and everything was very clean. The view from the pool is just incredible!
Cons: The breakfast was varied and healthy but unfortunately my girlfriend can't have gluten and there wasn't any bread or pastry option for her.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property with mountain views. The interior was antique with lots of history. Excellent Service!
Cons: I liked everything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s grandeur, it’s location, Sonia the hostess who was so helpful and friendly. We enjoyed a wine tasting and have really loved the box of red we took away. We felt we were in someone’s beautiful manor house.
Cons: Nothing to dislike except it was a shame that the pool was not ready as temperatures were very high during our stay! Eating in the evening is more of a challenge since local fare was not good. Suggest going down the valley to the town or persuading the property’s staff to cook a simple meal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was just perfect. Only people who enjoy something special should stay here, this is not the place for the uneducated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a great 2 night stay and we loved everything. We were enchanted by the beauty of the vineyards, the elegance of the mansion and the hospitality of the staff. The breakfast accompanied by fado music and the dinner that you must order 24h beforehand were simply delicious. This is a place you want to return. Definitely recommend.
Quinta Das Quintas & Spa - Baiao - Building
5
9.1 Excellent (480 reviews)
C$ 100+
10.0 Excellent
Pros: everything was great. Wonderful place
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location overlooking the Douro River, peacefulness, option of home cooked meals, great pool, proximity to a walk along the river, interacting with animals on the property - and the view was simply amazing and the locally sourced and prepared food was delicious!
Cons: The sofa bed should be replaced for a more comfortable bed/mattress given the price we paid for this stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolute amazing place! Stylish hotel (quinta) with a brathless view and great food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay in Quinta das Quintas. The stuff was very friendly, nice and helpful. The view from up there is amazing. The place has special charm and a character.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly personal, comfortable accommodation and spectacular views.
Cons: When checking in, be aware that there is no obvious reception. Theres a bell on a wall which you ring and if you're lucky, someone turns up and shows you your accommodation! Trying to find personale is a little like hide and seek. There is an office, often unmanned, but the kitchen is a good bet to ask if you need anything. Lack of written information, after a couple of days and conversations with one of the staff who does speak english, you know how things function and what facilities there are.
5.8 Okay
Pros: It was pleasent outside, with nice view over the Douro' river. The employees were very pleasent.
Cons: We got two roms on the main building that had high moisture, and a constant noise of an motor all night long. The worst was that the clothes were humid when we weak up next morning. Really bad and uncomfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved having the private casa, made for two people and only a year old. Was very comfortable had wonderful amenities...jacuzzi, waterfall shower, mini kitchen, double sink in the bathroom, a small sitting area, a hammock and small table with chairs on the patio. Enjoyed walking around the property and seeing all the animals, sunning by the pool, and going up to the game room at night. DEFINITELY get the dinner at night...SOOOO worth the price of only 20€ per person, includes a bottle of wine too! They also have spa services available if booked in advance. Would love to go back as a large group and really take over several of the individual cabins.
Cons: No wifi in the casa. Wouldn't be hard to have an individual router in there to have wifi (only up in the main house).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming old central building. Contemporary additions. Rooms are decorated with antiques- stylishly done. Spotlessly clean. Refreshing pool and lounge chairs with a view of the river after a day of wine tasting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The personalised service and tranquility - great place to get away from it all
Cons: A map of the area and a little history would have been nice....not much focus on telling the visitor about the property and the history of the area
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is very good. The staff is very friendly and and we even had a little treat in the room, as we were celebrating a special date. Loved the salt water (instead of chlorine) outdoor pool and the wonderful views. Perfect place to relax and disconnect.
Cons: The smell of cleaning products when we checked in. It seemed the smell of bleach and it was hard to disappear.
Douro Royal Valley Hotel & Spa - Baiao - Building

Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. Planning an event in Baiao? This hotel has 7535 square feet (700 square meters) of space consisting of conference space and meeting rooms. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the remote area the hotel is set in. It's good for a get away and relaxation. No kids allowed in the spa area, which makes for an even better relaxation time.
Cons: The outdoor pool water is freezing cold. It's like someone keeps throwing ice cubes into the pool. That's the only "bad" thing I can say about this place. The view though is totally worth the ice cold water
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location, facilities
Cons: Has everything except soul. Needlessly stark and cheerless despite the astoundingly beautiful surroundings. So we skipped the pool and sauna with its strong smell of chlorine and went for a walk instead
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great atmosphere and great staff
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The infinity pool, river view, stuff
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice, fresh and varied. The infinity pool was fantastic, the location of the hotel is perfect because it provides great views of the amazing vista. The pool side menu service was very good. The position of the hotel offered tranquility. The staff were helpful and knoweldgable. The rooms are super, even the standard room is lovely, with a great balcony and view.
Cons: The hotel was not at all welcoming, no homely feeling, it felt more like entering a private health clinic. The menu in the bar area was poor. The bar has a strange unwelcoming ambience, it was dark and sparse, it looked like a bar from the 1980's! Nothing to do there other than an aged pool table, no books etc...it would be helpful if there was some local activity information visible for guests. The main restaurant was trying too hard to be innovative. Their menu offered little variance, food undercooked etc... Finally, the outside is a white concrete monstrosity with no redeeming features, it sits in a beautiful position on the banks of the river, looking so out of place sadly.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The pool, the view from the room. Quietness.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The view, the quiet, the room, the desserts.
Cons: Hotel needs more people working at the bar during lunch hours. Food at the bar could be less expensive.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was amazing and staff excellent.
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The views are really amazing and it's the perfect place if you wish some to take a few days out of the city just to relax. The bedrooms' decoration is also nice, the bed was very comfortable and the balcony was also really pleasant.
Cons: The staff could really use some training. For a 5 star hotel I would expect a different kind of treatment. Also, the restaurant was a bit of a disappointment in terms of food but also because the waiters kept forgetting us (food served but forgot our wine, the bill was wrong twice...). There is a lot of room for improvement and I would not deem this place as a 5 star hotel.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Hospitality ,cleaness, facilities as swimming pool and a good restaurant.
Cons: Problematic WiFi in rooms
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The swimming pool and the surrounding area. Restaurant was excellent. A very good breakfast.
Cons: No kettle in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly owner and staff. Very cozy, comfortable, calm and lovely hotel. Very nice garden, very good breakfast. Great place for relaxing. Good for families with kids.
Cons: Nothing about the hotel. But the village is small and not close to bigger towns in the region. There is a small convenience store and that's it.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A lot of value for the money. Good place to stay with a seperate living room (including biljart, huge TV ) The staff was extremely polite and helpfull, although it was sometimes difficult to communicate (Most of staff speak only portuguese) The restaurant - price for value was also very OK. We did not manage to enjoy the garden due to the rainy weather, but everything was very neat and clean and well taken care off. Nice swimming pool.
Cons: For breakfast, it would be better to serve it in the restaurant - now we were placed in a room behind a curtain in the restaurant which was not very cosy. Since it was raining, we could not sit outside - if the weather is sunny, I asume you can have breakfast in the garden, which is a very nice place for your breakfast. The rooms were very clean and we had a room with a view on the yard (ask for this) - otherwise you have a view on the street.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great pool, nicely decorated, and convenient restaurant. Delicious breakfast, and one of the few places we stayed with espresso offered with breakfast
Cons: Restaurant was a bit overpriced, and didn’t have a lot of good vegetarian options
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location to visit the old Douro as Well as Porto. Nice swimming pool. Good breakfast and good restaurant.
Cons: The beds are on the hard side, but the staff helpen is well with a solution for this.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Casa do Almocreve is a wonderful guest house, and the swimming pool is set in beautiful gardens. The bedrooms are spacious, and immaculately clean. The hosts could not have been nicer, helping us out with local knowledge, and suggesting day trips to places not particularly well known to tourists. It has a lovely ambience, with excellent Portuguese cooking. They were also ultra fast at fixing our leaking air-conditioning, having an engineer on site within an hour to put everything right. An excellent guest house, only a few minutes drive down to the Douro River, where you can pick up a train for an amazing train journey.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great swimming pool, garden and terrace. Also the guest room with TV, fridge and pooltable was very attractive. The host was very fiendly, but speaks only a few words English.
Cons: The rooms were very noisy and the bathroom too small. Breakfast was quite poor. Wifi was poor also.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant decor was charming as well as the hotel. Loved that it was so quiet and relaxing.
Cons: Our friends had a bad meal. The veal was tough and they had problems getting it cooked to their liking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was extremely clean and the vegetation was amazing. The staff was great and friendly (Daniella, Anna and Alexandra). They were always available to answer our questions. This place feels like you are at an all inclusive resort. Amazing people and service!

Pros: This property is amazing - beautiful location over looking the river. Great clean pool with access to swim in the river also. Tennis court with soccer posts. Lovely breakfast and really nice staff. Traditional games room. Building is old and charming. 5 minute walk along the train line to Ermida station - side access to the property which is cool and unique. If visiting Douro - this places is a MUST VISIT. Looking forward to going back in the future for a longer stay.
Cons: The only negative about this stay was that we didn’t stay longer!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Property was beautiful and right on the river!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting on the river. A lovely old villa with antique furniture. Good pool and lots of lounging places in the gardens. We had a substantial dinner on the terrace and breakfast - included- was also nicely served.
Cons: No WiFi when we tried, even in the reception area. Dogs barking in the night.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything is perfect: old manner house with history, nice terrace and garden, beautiful view of the river, delicious homemade food (more than you can eat), very friendly service and atmosphere - a recommendable place for summer holidays
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Old traditional Quinta on Douro riverside. Easy to find and ideally located for sightseeing in Douro valley. We took train to Pinhao and Regua and did half a 6 hour boat tour from Regua. Rooms are basic but well kept (recently renovated bathrooms) with beautiful view on river and air conditioned. Breakfast is simple but fine. Had very nice dinners in garden with river view. Local dishes, freshly prepared, very tasty (come with local wine). Two girls serving dinner and older lady at breakfast were really great. Be aware: only stairs to bedrooms (on 3rd floor)
Cons: Matrasses are fairly hard Wasps in garden...
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful manor house, Portuguese old traditional style.
Cons: All good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location, in a wine castle of 1881 near the river Douro. Extra friedly and helpfull people who served us always with a smile. Extensive and varied breakfast. Delicious suppers with authentic Portuguese dishes. Strategic place from witch we made several trips with car or train to Amarante, Lamego, Peso Regua, Caldas de Aregos(hot medical springs), Pinhão, Vila Real, Porto, Ancede(Baião), Guimarães, Coimbra.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Quinta is an old house graciously furnished with modern bathrooms and heating situated in a beautiful spot on the river. The food was very good served with wine from their own vines. The staff were excellent and spoke good English. Breakfast was served on the terrace overlooking the river Douro. Our room was large with a comfortable bed. There is also a lovely swimming pool. The Quinta is situated near the railway line to Porto should you decide to leave your car at the Quinta and travel in by train (2hours).
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location overlooking the Douro with it's own dock on the river. We only had one day/night here, but clearly a place where one could linger.! Old Manor House with great surrounding grounds.! Views and calmness. When we arrived our house/rooms were not ready... but Gabriella handled it with grace and astuteness. Given wine and snacks on the terrace... whoa... service like this in Portugal.!!? House was nice and quiet...despite the railroad next to it... more novel than disturbing.! Rooms and bathrooms nice. Great views and balconies. YES...a place to come back to.! Highly recommended.!
Cons: Better WiFi... everywhere, even at check-out.! Food... well, a normal Portuguese meal in very nice surroundings... a little pricey.! Keep the price, but add some bits... Better lighting... outside and in the rooms. Bare bulbs are soooo 90th..;-)

Cons: Couldn't find any cons.
7.5 Good
Pros: The view is breathtaking
Cons: The atmosphere of the hotel is too cold and “empty” . the restaurant service lacked subtleness, took too long, and the food was overcooked- truth be said they did their best to replace it but the experience was already ruined

7.1 Good
Pros: Great view
Cons: The shower is not to convenient, the water is going out while you shower
7.9 Good
Pros: The breakfast was okay. The eggs, bacon and selection of breads very good. The room was okay, and the facilities as well. Everything cleaned.
Cons: For a 5 star hotel it could be better. The breakfast was a little poor, not much variety and the coffee was not good. The bed could be a bit more comfortable and the facilities with a better design.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The silence of the place itself and it's surroundings are priceless. The view was amazing and a good inside swimming pool. Good breakfast with many options with great presentation. The staff is always available but not enough for the all the guests present at the time. Still they did the best with what they had available
Cons: Not enough sun umbrellas near the outside pool. The booked massage duration was less than what it was mentioned in the massage menu. The cleanliness of some spaces must be improved for a 5 star hotel. The balcony, the windows, the verdigris in the bathroom shower and tap, even the dirty floor at the breakfast room, after some guests that left the place in less than reasonable state, the leftovers that were left on the floor stayed there forever.

Big big problems in the bathrooms, curtains were half hanging from the rail and the decor in the bedrooms looks tired although the lobby and reception area are stunning. The drive to the hotel was very tiresome and rather dangerous due to the narrow winding roads.
7.5 Good
Cons: - the spa was not available - the bar by the pool is lacking staff
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The view from the room, the pool and the supporting bar, surrounding landscape, the fact that the pool never closes.
Cons: The hotel restaurant is ok, but is too fine dinning and the menu is short. For a fine dinning restaurant the service is not to par, trying but lacking. The portions on the hotel bar are short and the bar closes early.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location was perfect beautiful view over the Douro
Cons: The food in the restaurant was very poor staff was nice
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Stunning views from all aspects except the restaurant and bar.
Cons: We had a dreadful time finding the hotel. Not really the fault of the hotel but a few kind words and some very clear directions from staff upon leaving was very reassuring. Maybe a heads up to turn off navigator and give a few simple directions to overseas travellers before they stay
