Hotel Garni Ai Serrai - Rocca Pietore - Bedroom
1
9.3 Excellent (136 reviews)
C$ 118+
Overview Reviews
Set at the foot of the Marmolada mountain, Hotel Garnì Ai Serrai is in the pretty village of Sottoguda. Surrounded by the unspoilt nature of the Dolomites, it offers free storage for bikes and ski equipment. Rooms here are simply furnished but very comfortable. They all feature satellite TV and a private bathroom with hairdryer. Most have a balcony. The generous breakfast includes sweet and savoury food, and hot and cold drinks. It is served in a characteristic hall with exposed wooded beams on the ceiling. Garnì Ai Serrai is named after a narrow valley that leads to the town of Malga Ciapela, 2 km away. Rocca Pietore is 3 km on the other side. This family-run hotel is 2 km from the Marmolada Arabba ski slopes, and 10 km from the Civetta slopes. Both are reached by ski bus. The valley is ideal for mountain climbers and cyclists.

Pros: Owner Elena is incredibly nice, kind and helpful. Everything was perfect. Sparkling clean room every day. Nice and quiet location, close to bus stop. Good breakfast and great hospitality. Dedicated room for ski/snowboard stuff with boots dryers! This is incredibly convenient! I was more than satisfied I found this place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cosy rooms, excellent breakfast, welcoming staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff is lovely, probably one of the best places I've been so far. Kind and helpful owner, same for the rest of the staff. Room was super clean with toiletries and comfy bed (and a beautiful view of the mountains). They made the room everyday. Breakfast is incredible! The owner also accommodate my gluten free request with bread, biscuits etc...you can find salty and sweet choices and the cappuccino was great! The position of the Hotel is perfect to explore the surrounding areas and close to some main attractions like Marmolada or Serrai of Sottoguda. I will also suggest to go to the shop next to the hotel to grab a sandwich in the morning for lunch break after your walk. They also have lots of local food and liquor that you can bring home as a gift( I will definitely come back soon! :)
Cons: Everything was perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best experience in the Dolomites. The owner was present and very helpful. The room was super clean and equipped with style. The breakfast was very tasty- especially the fresh daily pastries. The location is 3 minute drive to ski area. We sure will come back. Best regards to owner and thank you for a great week.

Cons: Everything was good
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Host was very nice and welcoming, she provided us useful tips where to go to hike, and she informed us every morning about the expected mountain weather. The room was small, but very clean with a nice view from the balcony and the breakfast was excellent. On the top of that, Sottoguda is lovely little village with authentic old houses, that worth a visit in itself.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Garnì Ai Serrai is the perfect little gem one can hope to find amongst the beauty of the Dolomite. The hotel itself is situation in the middle of many other little towns which makes it the perfect location to stay for the night. The staff is always polite and helpful, the room clean and tidy and the breakfast lovely and homey - and for the price we paid, there was literally nothing more we could ask for.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was really good. Best of our stay was the kind and warm hospitality of Elena, our host! She is very kind and considerate and made us feel very welcomed. Also, she prepared a wonderful breakfast and even baked lactose free cakes every day for my partner! All in all: we can only highly recommend this cosy and very clean hotel!

Cons: Nothing. It was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a family run hotel, the staff were all very friendly, some of whom speak good English. The food was excellent, with an amazing choice at breakfast. Choice at evening meal, also delicious - but make sure you leave room for the desert! Super base for exploring this part of the Dolomites - highly recommended
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very kind and the facilities are typical mountain style with good views. The dinner was good but not spectacular.
Cons: I found the breakfast a bit lacking (for instance, canned fruit in a sugar sauce) and the dinner was just ok.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Size of room, pastries, pastries and more pastries. Good selection of breakfast foods. Nearby walks.
Cons: Beds almost too firm. Road noise. Fan in shower occasionally sounded like a jet engine. Small shower.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: So many things to like about this hotel! The food was excellent! Breakfast and dinner, especially the yummy desserts! And the spa was a lot nicer and richer than we expected! The family running the hotel are making everyone feel very welcomed with really personal touches like assigning a table to each room where every day you can have breakfast and dinner. Every morning we could choose what to eat for dinner and we were given tips on what we could visit around the village, a really nice concept! Matteo speaks really good english and is really helpful with anything we needed before and during the stay.
Cons: Only wifi sometimes was having minor issues but too minor of an issue. Pineta is an excellent place and i definitely recommend it to anyone going to dolomiti region!

8.3 Excellent
Pros: location is great, east to find and very close to the main attractions in the valley, owner is friendly and assist us a lot.
Cons: Rooms are very modest and small, no much space in the toilets. so there is an issue of value versus it cost.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, cozy, beautiful breakfast, so picturesque, the drive is also stunning. Great pizzeria and bar over the road. Fantastic staff
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable room with excellent views!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast. Room very clean and quiet. Playground for children in the outdoor.
Cons: Nothing for the price we paid.
7.5 Good
Pros: Bloke that works there is top notch, and the dog. Otherwise the location is charming and nice and far away from other people. The air is just lovely.
Cons: Soundproofing was awful, could hear everything that was going on. Woken up by 5 different alarms from various rooms. Breakfast was also mediocre, some nicer bread would count for a lot. Also, though i think this is an italian thing. The bed was too firm. I cannot understand why anyone would want a bed to be basically made of concrete.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent, I recommend, friendly staff, delicious breakfast.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Pizzeria across the road, lovely room, excellent breakfast, excellent staff, plenty of parking.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere in hotel was pleasant and personnel were extremly kind and helpful, we really appreciated it. Another big advantage was great wellness. Hotel is very well situated, in a small village with restaurants, souvenirs and groceries and only few minutes from Marmolada and Alleghe ski resort.
Cons: We would appreciate some vegetable for breakfast.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: We really liked the location of the main building!
Cons: We booked a room for 3 people and a dog))) But when we checked in it turned out that we would live in a separate building down the street - no reception, smelly corridors, just a couple of rooms above a pizzeria))) We had breakfast in the main building. And that room cost us 160 euros
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the hotel is awesome - the location, the family staff, the restaurant, the food, and most particularly the location. It is easy 5 min walking distance to the Canyon entrance and hotel guests have complimentary access to the canyon as well. We took the Cable Car to the Dolomites peak and it was simply amazing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was beautiful with a lovely flowing stream providing white noise to lull us to sleep and a great view from our balcony. The room was spacious and the breakfast was plentiful, delicious and full of variety. We arrived at the close of the summer season, so we weren't able to take advantage of their restaurant for dinner but the staff was extremely helpful in finding us excellent restaurants nearby that were still open. I can not say enough good things about the staff. Everyone was incredibly nice and accommodating. They even gave me a small decorated bottle of their special homemade drink as a birthday gift. In addition, it is just a short walk in one direction to the lovely nature preserve and in the other direction to numerous shops and restaurants. I highly recommend this place.
Cons: During our stay the front door of the hotel was locked at about 5 or 6 in the evening (maybe because it was late in the season). If you want to go out for dinner or you plan to get back late you must remember to get a front door key or you will be unable to get in or even out.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent. A lot of choice for all tastes. Even they offer rise and soya milk. Personal was really nice and talkative. Personal gave us a lot of information about place, history, surrounding skiing places and advice. The location was perfect. Hotel offers also good food for dinner and deserts. Each evening is something organized for dinner. The hotel offers free parking. All is very very clean.
Cons: On the webpage is written that hotel offers whirlpool, but it doesn't. On the webpage is written that is possible ski right to the hotel. November 2018 weather destroyed path which is used to be skiing and walking. So, this chance to do skiing right to the hotel doesn't exist anymore.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Small, cozy hotel in quiet and beautiful Sottoguda. Very friendly and always helpfull staff. I would like to especially thank Katia for hospitality and support. Tasty breakfasts. Clean rooms. Very good shower. Good starting point to explore Dolomites, especially Marmolada and around.
Cons: It's a pity that the canyon Serrai di Sottoguda was closed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: La Montanara is simply exquisite. Every little detail attended to. Food at the hotel is excellent, local Roe Deer and polenta highly recommended. Salads are also excellent. Excellent gelato bar! Free breakfast is outstanding! Room with a flowery veranda, three beds, great bath and amenities. The setting is spectacular-big view, roaring alpine creek and sheep grazing in the distance. Don’t miss the steam room and Sauna in the basement. The town, Sottoguda is simply dream-like. Other restaurants and shops in town. I’ve travelled extensively over the past 40 years. This is likely the loveliest place I’ve ever stayed.
Cons: Nothing. But note the area was impacted by some remarkable climate change storms in the past year and some recovery work is underway around town due to flooding and tree damage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!
Cons: The wifi connection was weak in our room. We got rooms on the first floor, so it didn't bother us but there was no lift to the upper floors.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room with private balcony overlooking the stream & mountains. The restaurant served a good selection of tradional Italian dishes in the evenings and a very good spread at breakfast. The village is lovely but it was a shame that the gorge was still closed following the storms last year - hopefully we will return again sometime.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great food, great views

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully arranged hotel with charm, Great food, good service, peaceful and absolutely enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and would certainly return.
Cons: Nothing I didn't like. The internet wasn't working too well on the top floor (where my room was located) but I didn't mind because everything with the hotel was so comfortable, beautiful and taken care off.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice family run hotel. We stayed for 3 nights. The staff were friendly and the room and bed were comfortable ( but no balcony as mentioned on the booking.com site). The breakfast in the morning was delicious. The staff were also very kind allowing us to park our motorbike in their garage.
Cons: It would have been nice if the hotel provided handwash/soap for washing your hands after using the bathroom. We also had to close the window and shutters (making the room quite hot) as there was noise coming up from the bar and the street light shone right onto the bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I think it was the only hotel in town, very clean, small rooms but cute antique decor.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: - nice and helpful personel; - beautiful, clean room; - sauna; - dedicated skiroom.
Cons: - there is no skibus in the area, so you need to get to the slopes by own car (ca 15 min to Marmolada and 20 min to Arabba); - the is no heater for the skiboots in the skiroom.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Food was great, everything was home made, rooms are very clean, staff was very kind ; it’s worth what you pay for.
Cons: On breakfast they don’t fill ham and food quick, sometimes they don’t fill at all; if you don’t know italian, communication is hard;
7.9 Good
Pros: Very good location, excellent food at restaurant. Very good wifi
Cons: Room was nothing special about
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful little family owned hotel. Fantastic welcome from all the staff. Clean rooms with great views of the mountains.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely family run hotel with very helpful and welcoming staff. The waitress and evening meals were excellent. We requested secure garage parking for our motorcycles which was provided and this request was confirmed by a pleasant e-mail of introduction outlining the menus, facilities and things to do nearby. The sauna was also ideal.

Cons: Reception staff is too lazy to satisfy the simpliest customer needs. Small rooms are too small, not suitable for living. Shower was cloged. Breakfast is terrible, looks like 3 days old.
2.9 Mediocre

6.7 Good
Pros: Landscape and swimming pool
5.0 Okay
Pros: Food was ok, fresh fruits! The only advantage that this hotel has, is that it is right next to the seilbahn...maybe in winter it is worth.
Cons: First they gave us a horrible room somewere in the attick, but I complained that that is not what I reserved and they changed the room. Hair and urin on the toilet! The sink was leakink Old furniture, the matress was shorter then the bed. Houers 20 euro for sauna and spa... to much for what the spa had to offer Just 1 jacuzzi was working, even if the pool area was crowded Dinner was never ready at 19.30, all the people were standing in front of the restaurant, children were crying for hunger We diden't recieved an invoice, just the explanation that booking.com will send me the invoice....

Pros: Food great! Stuff excellent - especially George!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is great, the beds comfortable, there is parking, good restaurants in the area. The staff is positive and willing to help.
Cons: The shower and toilet are small and uncomfortable. The ceiling in some of the room is low and is hit in the head. The food at dinner is not a bargain. But there is good wine and courteous service.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location is wonderful, a lot of things to see around. Room was clean.
Cons: Room and bathroom were very small. Food was under expectations...
