Barceló Costa Ballena Golf & Spa - Rota - Building

8.6 Excellent (2,659 reviews)
C$ 121+

8.3 Excellent
Pros: We were in November 5 days. The rooms are big with good size washroom. Bed comfortable not like most hard beds throughout Europe, lots of pillow choices. Don’t golf but looks like nice coarse, all rooms seem to have nice view. Breakfast had the most choices of our 2 months in Europe even lactose free milk!
Cons: Away from all restaurants and shopping in off season, no access without car, nothing around. No source of water in hotel but tap (high chlorine) and over priced bottled. Most hotels we visited over 2 months in Europe had a water dispenser (sometimes with fruit) in the lobby area or breakfast room, at least. BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT was; My husband has a CPAP medical device for breathing at night, he CAN NOT put tap water in it, to make it run, or it will ruin a 2000. dollar machine. All other hotels over 2 months offered a bottle of water so he could fill it. He had run out one night and not having a car, he explained to the lady at the front desk that he needed a bottle for that night, after explaining about the breathing device. Her answer was ‘no don’t supply water’ and we could consult with the management in the morning, it was late, no stores open and we didn’t have a car anyway. So needless to say he did not have a good night sleep! We thought this was a real cheap shot!! They never supplied any to us. So next day we wasted half a day bused into town to find some distilled water for his machine. This wouldn’t have been a big deal if the resort wasn’t miles from any shopping! They said they did a descent Reno, but it was done very poorly, old shower had not been replaced and would not stay in the holster kept falling out. No blackout curtains. This hotel takes advantage of being in a slightly remote area for selling you products at a higher price. Advice bring all supplies with you!
9.6 Excellent

Cons: Beach not in the backyard but 10 min of walk
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice Hotel in Costa Ballena with own golf course and cery good stuff!Big breakfast choice and a good restaurant!

Cons: Closed internal room for babies.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Facilities are nice and clean. Staff was friendly. Location was nice and next to beach.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very nice- more than enough options for a week long stay. Hotel overall is a very nice place to stay and a great value for the money.
Cons: One item that is disappointing is they now charge for parking (we have stayed there before- as recently as 9 months ago this year- and there wasn't a charge). This should also be more clear on the booking sites. Lunch and Dinner are pricy for the buffet options- not as bad for the bar/ lounge. They also do not have an iron or ironing board for loan- not a big deal if you're traveling for leisure/ vacation, but is if you're traveling for work as I was.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff’s professionalism, hotel cleanliness, parking space, and reasonable price.

Pros: Best value in Rota with the best location. Walk EVERYWHERE from here - no need to drive!! Clean and comfortable!
9.6 Excellent
Cons: The gel shower was not very good, you have to use two packs and one towel had a grey ring.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice swimming pool, excellent location a short walk to the beach. Town centre is not far either.
Cons: I should have stayed longer!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was well placed for access to the beach and had a pleasant and quite large pool. The staff were very pleasant and seemed to understand how disappointed we were with Rota as an area to visit. They refunded us 3 nights as we decided to leave after one night.
Cons: This isn't really the hotel's fault but we were very disappointed with Rota as an area. Although we went mid September the place was like a ghost town. The hotel was virtually empty and looked half closed up. The hotel rooms are quite bare - no pictures on the walls etc. The receptionist explained that Rota virtually closes down at the end of August when all the Spanish families go back to the cities. We had assumed that so far south, the season would continue until well into October. It was so disappointing we only stayed one night, changed our flights, and flew home the next day.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Eggs? What eggs? Some of the people made coffee beautifully, some not so much.
Cons: The frig could have been in the room.
