Moonlight Mountain is built along traditional lines, it is what is called in the Caribbean a gingerbread house - a reference to the decorative fretwork which adorns the outside. Set in what used to be agricultural land and designed to catch the sea breezes, it has its own fruit trees, a nature trail through rainforest and a bamboo grove. A couple of steps from the kitchen door and, depending on the season, you can pick your own fresh fruit for breakfast.Beyond the garden a gently sloping path leads you to a nature trail that winds through rainforest and a grove of graceful bamboo. In amongst the hills and gullies of rural Tobago and surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, the detached position makes it a haven for the local bird life. Over forty species can be seen around the house and grounds. Overlooking the rainforest is a wooden deck, a perfect spot for viewing the wildlife or just relaxing under the stars. The cathedral ceiling in the main living area gives the spacious main living area a wonderful sense of peace and calm.Three of the four bedrooms in the main house have verandas with hammocks and views out to sea.The shuttered windows in the master suite open to a view of rolling hills and the sea. There is a self contained studio apartment, ideal for a couple who like their own space. and a yoga studio for those who practise!
