Pros: Great location, comfortable room, free parking, lovely breakfast. Very friendly and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We booked late and could only secure the twin room but it was lovely and had everything we needed. Breakfasts were wonderful with really lovely sausages and bacon and home made yoghurt which was a real treat each morning. The Pier is very centrally located and easy for visiting the naval dockyard and other attractions. We will certainly come back again to The Pier.
Cons: Nothing needs improving. It is all lovely.

Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were attending an event in the area and Danny's local knowledge was very useful in getting to the event on time and without stress. Many thanks Danny. The room was very large and clean. The breakfast was top notch. Location was convenient for restaurants and nightlife.
Cons: Nothing that would not make me want to stay again. If I were to be very critical, the property is of a certain age. This is shown in the photos on the website and nothing is hidden, but our normal preference is for somewhere more modern. This property has changed my mind on that.

Pros: Absolutely welcoming and friendly staff
Cons: Internet was not working.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and Dining Room excellent. Although at a lower level the lighting and decoration were excellent and well furnished.
Cons: It had been a hot summers day and the bedroom was hot, it was on the ground floor and the windows had security straps that prevented the windows from being opened fully to let in fresh air; which was good for security but no good for cooling the room. A slim tower fan was provided which was efficient but noisy at full fan operation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, rooms small but comfortable, good breakfast, and friendly, helpful and efficient staff. There is also a residents car park which was a real advantage as parking on the street is limited.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Great location, very close to the beach. Pets allowed for a small fee of £10. I was catered for a gluten free diet and provided with a gluten free bread for breakfast.
Cons: After seeing the reviews I was expecting a higher quality room. Instead it was small, didn’t look as appealing as on pictures, the radiator had an incredible amount of dust. I found staff not being very friendly.

Pros: Breakfast was excellent and it was delivered in the room.
Cons: It was a pleasant stay. Quiet location, close to beach and the main street with all the shops and restaurants. Very nice staff and really good breakfast. Room could do with being refurbished for a cleaner look.
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff lovely though and put some nice chocolates on your bed as we where celebrating. Nice lights above the bed.
Cons: Described as a luxury room but very old fashioned and badly in need of redecorating plus modernisation .The bathroom doors yellow colour with ageing. The floor very strange metal and uncomfortable if you where in bare feet. Felt £140 was not a fair price.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location for the beach is perfect, less than five minutes walking. Good breakfast, free parking by the door. We had a standard room, good value for money.
Cons: The mattress in our room was too soft. Noisy floor up, you can heard when people are walking upstairs, but the worst part was when a lady was shouting in the middle of the night....a couple of times.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location with ample free offstreet parking..cafes & bars to the right and lake & seafront to the left..all 5-10 min walk. Room clean, airy, good size and fan supplied. Good choice of breakfast freshly cooked. Cupcakes on arrival and snack pack on checkout
Cons: Breakfast room needs better ventilation
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was fantastic
Cons: No facilities to eat a meal on site in the evenings
5.8 Okay
Pros: The bed was comfortable This hotel claims five stars and boasts that in is a winner of Four in a bed, on this experience I fail to see how it has done either there was long blond hairs in the drawers at the side, the bath had dropped down somehow causing the shower screen to have a gap, this flooded the bathroom when a shower was taken , asked at the reception for more towels as if had to use them to mop up the flood , was given the towel but the scruffily dressed person behind the reception didn’t ask how or why there was water on it be floor Decorating equipment left on stairs and in the shabby bar area from where you can see a back garden that is overgrown and looks a mess , I stayed at a boutique hotel in Torquay two days before, this garden had been looked after and had seating lights and ornaments in it , this what I would expect not scruffy overgrown hedges or blown flooring in the bar for that matter. The staff gave the impression that they didn’t care or didn’t want to be there which is a shame as they could have made the experience of staying there a lot better

Pros: Good value for money, easy check in, clean and comfortable. Close to local amenities, we checked in after our day trip to the Isle of Whyte and were pleased with speedy check in. Good breakfast included, followed by a full day at the Historic Docklands ten minutes away. Would stay again. Thank you.
Cons: No toiletries in the rooms, other than hand wash pump. A shower cap was available from the desk but when your just about to shower and realise this with children in tow it’s an inconvenience to go and fetch one.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were looking for a location that made it easy to travel to and then around Portsmouth.this met that and exceeded with a large well presented room and facilities. Breakfast was typical fare but on par with expectations.
Cons: Fire alarm at 3am was not fun but that was only negative.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms very modern and clean
Cons: Breakfast nasty apart from coffee and croissants
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and staff helpful
Cons: Nothing !
7.5 Good
Pros: Location good for event we were attending. Easy to get to town centre and Quay using car. Breakfast good and staff helpful.
Cons: Although 3 guests only 2 sets of towels were left in room. However, issue immediatly solved when asked for another set.
7.0 Good
Pros: The room was of the hotels hotel's usual high standard when we settled in. Breakfast was good, but crowded and a little chaotic at 8.00 am.
Cons: We arrived late off the ferry as it had been delayed. There was no one manning the desk so I had to wait to check in, eventually calling hello into the back office till someone came out. We were given keys to a room some distance away from reception which was ok, but when we arrived we found it had not been cleaned by the housekeeping staff, but left in a state by the previous occupants. I rang reception who quickly gave us the room opposite but late at night when you have been travelling for most of the day, you don't want to be standing around with your bags in the corridor.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location and easy from Portsmouth. Nice sized comfortable room, excellent breakfast and friendly staff.
Cons: Couldn't get on with air con and shower had little power and tended to soak the bathroom floor.
7.0 Good
Pros: Room was clean, tidy and generally nice. Good location for local attractions. Outside the grounds was not exactly anything to write home about - Petrol station, major roads, industrial estate & I think there was a small shopping centre.
Cons: A little over priced. I have stayed in better hotels for less money. Grounds were 'ok', if only a little unkempt. Breakfast was pretty much box standard & certainly nothing exceptional. Evening meals were WAAAAAAAAY overpriced, and that is mainly what let it down as the meals were not of a very high standard
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Both breakfast and the location were very good.
Cons: Cigarette butts littered internal courtyard.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Sausages were not nice

4.3 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was good, but not exceptional, the area was a bit run down with a fair amount of shabby individuals wandering around in hoodies and in the nearby park when we were walking back from their recommended Gastro Pub which was fifteen minutes walk away from the establishment.
Cons: The furniture and fittings were not in the "Boutique" league apart from the lounge area. The bathroom was small and cramped and the shower not clean. the room was ordinary and had minimal storage space, basically one small rickety free standing wardrobe and two bedside tables. The Electricity failed in our room in the morning as we were preparing to leave and when I reported it was told " oh it is a technical problem I can't deal with it" so nothing was done, and no offer of any re embursement made. Shabby chic would better describe the establishment, we will not be using it again!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Locality was fab
Cons: A fan would have made the room more comfortable due to getting sun all day in the room.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Really lovely little hotel, great location. Staff were super friendly and accommodating.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was clean and fresh. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was delicious.
Cons: Fortunately we were able to park off-road for our two night stay but although street parking is free space was very limited.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: After a long flight from Australia and drive down from Heathrow, we were able to check in straight away (we were early).
Cons: The single room was smaller than I expected, but it had everything you would need.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I like the interior of the hotel, rooms were very clean, tea making facilities, nice to see Loccitane toiletries! Our King’s size exec room was good size, tall ceiling, bright with 2 windows, very quiet. They have a good breakfast menu you can order from and that is great value so would recommend adding to your room booking.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast nice and beds were very comfortable Nice quiet hotel for relaxing
Cons: Size of bedroom 1 twin beds so so small And I think the price should include cereal or toast with a coffee As breakfast at £26 a couple a day is a bit steep
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and parking was easy.
Cons: Breakfast was nice but limited and not worth the extra cost of £25 for the two of us
5.5 Okay
Pros: Good location for ferries. The cooked breakfast was very tasty. Pleasant staff.
Cons: When they said small room, they should put tiny! The bathroom was more like a closet, mouldy tiles, not fit for purpose. Described as a hotel with restaurant- More like a guest house with the restaurant in a pub 15 minutes walk away. £185 it was not value for money.
7.5 Good
Pros: Quiet
Cons: Room bit small

Pros: The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We were very kindly moved to a more suitable room with less stairs to climb. The meal we had at the restaurant was excellent and to walk a couple of minutes back to the hotel and have such a good night's sleep was lovely. Will return soon
Cons: The only possible (very minor) negative was being above the breakfast room with quite loud diners in the morning but otherwise we could not fault anything at all and feel this is a gem of a place tucked away in Southsea.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast very good
5.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was ok but could have done with more staff as restaurant was mad. Luke served us and he was great but he was under pressure. Delays were understandable but should have been avoided. Quality of food was good.
Cons: Room was ok but cleaners need to clean / hoover the obvious places. Some low lights and TV bracket were covered in dust like a haunted house. Its the simple things that are important and I we see a fault we can't help looking for others.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Quality of decor, friendly, helpful staff, quiet location, excellent breakfast and good bus service into Portsmouth
Cons: Parking is a challenge in the evening, but not sure anything can be done about this

6.3 Good
Pros: Not much- it was adequate.
Cons: Difficult to find where to book in. Walked miles to find entrance. Sink leaked and bed smaller than expected. No fridge for drinks etc. Wardrobe rattled as we walked across the room. Had to cross road to another building for breakfast. Toast had mould on it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The decor was superb, very homely, lovely staff
8.0 Excellent
Cons: Breakfast was ok. But not very tasty. Had English breakfast
6.8 Good
Pros: This place is fine but it is not a classic “boutique hotel”
Cons: There is no reception in the hotel itself. For that you have to go across the street to one of the sister properties. Luckily there was a spot spare in the limited hotel off street car parking, but without that, parking in that area is a nightmare.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice furnishings and room was spacious. Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice.
Cons: Nothing really.

Pros: The host was very friendly helpful and welcoming. She arranged an early breakfast for me as I needed to leave by 7.30 am. She arranged transport via taxi for me for the morning too
Cons: No socket electricity in the morning in my room, but the host sorted this immediately.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Good comfortable clean bed
Cons: Carpet in room was old and looked filthy. Said in description 10 minutes to ferry but should say 10 minutes to Gosport ferry Thought it was 10 minutes to Portsmouth cross channel ferry!
6.3 Good
Pros: The lady who greeted me was very friendly. There was onsight parking.
Cons: Unfortunately my shower didn’t work and I was leaving very early so there was no one around to ask for help. I had a single room which was very basic could do with a bit of updating, The mattress wasn’t the most comfortable. It was also extremely hot and the windows didn’t open.
7.5 Good
Pros: food is just simply breakfast , the bed very clean and comfort . The customer service was brliilant .
Cons: Just bathroom was need update it and if have power shower would be really nice !

5.8 Okay
Pros: The host was an incredible lovely personable and helpful lady. The bed and linen was clean and comfotable.
Cons: The bedroom we were in, on the ground floor was unfortunately not like the photos on the site. It was all a little worn and run down.
7.7 Good
Pros: Plenty of free parking, in-house pub was very English
Cons: Hard to get to from Portsmouth due to being across the river, 45 minute drive although in sight of P.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location a km or so from the Portsmouth ferry and close to the city centre. Very friendly welcome from the owner Heather who was very helpful each of the 3 times I stayed. Happy to store my extra bag between my stays (I stayed 3 nights each separated by a week.). Excellent continental breakfast. Comfortable lounge area with honesty box for additional provisions. Warm, comfortable redecorated bedroom and bathroom.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location near to docks and lovely shops. Everything as we expected. Not super posh or modern. But ideal for us. Convenient, clean and comfy! A friendly welcome. Comfortable room. Good hot water. Yummy cooked breakfast.
Cons: I couldn’t find a hairdryer, but it wasn’t critical. Probably was there but in a hurry didn’t have time to ask.,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great, very friendly lady getting it all done quickly and well.
Cons: The traffic noise, the milk used in the coffee
5.5 Okay
Pros: The location was excellent for the Historic Dockyard and Gunwharf shops. Parking is not included but there is a car park moments away which, with The George discount was only £6 for 24 hours parking. Staff were pleasant.
Cons: The decor and facilities are very tired and in dire need of an upgrade. Inaccessible power sockets, couldn’t use shower unless sitting in bath due to low ceiling, curtains on wrong fixing making it difficult to close without outside light coming in over top. Presume the cost is based on location because consider it overpriced for standard of room.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and cheerful staff. The hotel was very clean. We had an evening meal which we enjoyed. We were very grateful for the fan which was provided, as it was a warm night. The hotel was in excellent location near to the waterfront. The parking was safe and very close by. We appreciated the 50% parking payment reduction for hotel guests.
Cons: The only issue was a minor one in that the TV was in an odd position for the bed; it would be more comfortable if it was positioned on the opposite wall.
7.5 Good
Pros: A good English breakfast and close to historical dockyard.
Cons: Carpet in room hadn’t been vacuumed. Stains on the bed throw.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Quaint hotel with much character. Generous meals. Great location.
Cons: Room was small and steep stair access difficult although staff did assist with luggage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was a little dark. However, the breakfast was lovely.
Cons: Nothing bad to say. It was a lovely hotel.
7.5 Good
Pros: location was brilliant for doing the dockyard and the gunyard warf which was why we were in Portsmouth, the discount on the parking was very welcome - though still a shame no parking on site. Breakfast was good
Cons: Unfortunately the noise from the pub downstairs could be heard in the room and as it was right on the road that was quite noisy for my nephew who is used to living in the middle of nowhere..... Room got hot as couldn't sleep with windows open. The breakfast room was a little crowded.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good breakfast. Good value for a one night stay and close to station and harbour

Pros: This is a little jewel! Great room, great staff, excellent breakfast and great facilities. But the ‘jewel in the crown’ lies just a short walk away on to a secluded beach just a stone’s throw from the Ferry Terminal. Heavenly!
Cons: Nothing really.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfy bed, good food, excellent staff
Cons: They took £245.50 two days before we left from our account which we could not use to off set from our bill until I spent much time and effort to rectify - shameful.

Pros: Location because right next to ferry port, bed was comfortable, room clean although floor boards very creeky at places

Cons: A little tricky to find, however once found it's well worth it.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice hotel and staff. Good gym.
Cons: They did not have a good wine selection even though the bar staff was great. Must be poor management of the food and beverage business here.

Cons: Too far from anywhere
9.5 Excellent
Pros: So easy and comfortable but at the same time stylish.
Cons: Misleading car parking signs. They said you had to pay £4 in reception (which instantly annoys you) but then when you check in it is free. Why not change the signs to reflect that residents need to obtain a pass/register.

Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff friendly and efficient. Very surprised to have to pay a £50 room deposit and be told it could take upto 5 days to be refunded. Bed very hard.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Views were beautiful. Room was spacious with comfortable bed and all expected facilities

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location,value for money,breakfast,free parking,friendly staff...swim across the road!.
Cons: Bad TV reception, the original room had a very small uncomfortable bed giving my husband a bad back.changed to a room with a bigger bed which was great. The tea at breakfast was really stewed, over brewed and coffee not good even in the bar where they have an inferior automatic machine for cappuccinos .we went to nearby Cafes for a good coffee.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good place. We stayed just one night and it was clean and comfortable. The rooms are big enough
Cons: The hotel looks quite old in the rooms and lobby.
