10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast great I like my coffee and they had great coffee, beds comfy room very nice and a good sized shower which is normally lacking in most B&Bs. And the relaxation room was a nice bonus the massage chair was free to use and great. I took my dog and she can be a bit nervous but she was comfortable there even tho we went out without her and she barked at some closing doors in the guest house the owner was very nice on the phone to tell us about it. Overall excellent I'll definitely be coming back to St bernards

Pros: Fantastic hosts and value for money. Breakfast was fantastic.
Cons: Bed was a touch hard
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A really lovely guest house. Modern and well presented. So much attention given to detail. Impeccably clean. The breakfast was delicious. We liked that the breakfast ran from 8.15 - 9.15am. It made us get up early and not waste the day! John and Amy are really great people. They go out of their way to create a home from home. We had a lovely bedroom with beautiful panoramic views of Newquay. We will definitely be back.
Cons: Everything was brilliant. Nothing to bring to their attention. John and Amy do a great job of creating a home from home.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent cooked breakfast, good range of fruit, yogurts and cereals. Hosts were impeccably polite and helpful. Free parking on site. Beds were extremely comfortable and rooms were spotless! Would stay again, for sure.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect, room super tidy and comfy. Breakfast was everything you'd ever need.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast and excellent way to start the day.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: John was the perfect host, friendly and helpful without being intrusive, and always with a smile on his face. Geckos Rest is close enough to town and beaches that everything is within a short walk, but far enough away to be quiet and restful, just what we needed for the first 3 days of our 10 day tour of Cornwall and Devon. We reserved a parking space and had no trouble parking, although we needed John's guidance to find the rear car park! Our room was large, clean and comfortable with big windows and a great view of the sea and a nice big bathroom. Downstairs there was a lovely lounge and a bright and welcoming breakfast room to enjoy those wonderful breakfasts! The fresh milk in the fridge to take up to our room was a nice touch, beats those little plastic UHT things. A great place to start our holiday and chill out.
Cons: The only thing that I would change is the shower. It's an over-the-bath shower, fed from the taps and although the power was there, it was impossible to keep it at a constant temperature. Just upgrading this to a thermostatically controlled unit would make it a 10 from us, but it's a niggle rather than a major complaint :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely amazing place to stay it was our second visit as will definitely be going back just can’t find any faults with this establishment or the staff
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Our stay was amazing thanks to Amy and John. Our visit exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was highly enjoyed and the room was super comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a wonderful place. From the minute we stepped through the door to our departure, we were welcomed as if we were family. Amy and John are the perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble. The place felt like home, it was spotless, comfortable, lovely view of the sea from our room, lots of little added luxuries. The bed was really comfortable, perfect for a good night sleep. Proper English breakfast if you want it, lots of other choices if you don't. Few car parking spaces at the front of the property and a large public car park opposite so no worries about parking. We travelled by train and walked to the Geckos Rest. It is not too far from the station, is uphill but well worth it as the views are spectacular. There is a bus stop just outside the train station by Burger King, which goes past Geckos Rest (two stops). Easy walk to Newquay centre and the beach. Loved every minute of our stay, will definitely be back one day.
Cons: Leaving. We should have booked for longer.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely amazing. My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights and we absolutely loved it. The hotel is in a great location, the room (room 8) was superb. Great views over porth beach and plenty of room including storage in the room. The bed was so comfortable and the shower was one of the most powerful showers we have ever used in a hotel. The added benefit of having a living and bedroom area meant that one of us could have a nap whilst the other was catching up on TV. As we visited out of season we knew we'd spend a lot of time in our room and we were not disappointed at all. The owner, Bath, even helpfully provided us with some board games and cards for our room. The continental breakfast was also great. Great choice and a great mix of healthy and fresh options. Our only negative was that we visited out of season so we were unable to experience the cooked food as we read so many good reviews about it. We would also like to the thank the Bath, Angie and their son for making our stay so lovely. Unfortunately we didn't get chance to say goodbye.

Pros: Shawn & Lou, were on hand if needed and left us to it the rest of time. We have had numerous holidays to Cornwall and always go back to the same tourist areas that we love, this time we wanted to try new, off the beaten track places and Shawn was a hive of local information providing us with maps and information for new places to visit. St. Nectans Glen waterfalls was amazing and we would never have found it without his help.

The Scarlet Hotel - Newquay - Bedroom
11
9.3 Excellent (335 reviews)
C$ 479+
Overview Reviews
Luxurious but laid-back, The Scarlet hotel has heart; it’s eco-friendly through and through and equally true to its roots; decorated with paintings by local artists. Lashings of glass maximise this Cornwall hotel’s cliff-top setting and sea-and-sand views, keeping the outdoors in, and every room comes with its own balcony or outdoor ‘pod’.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is amazing. The staff is super-friendly, the whole attitude is around making guests relax and enjoy their stay as much as possible. The breakfast. The sandwiches delivered to our room. The steam room.
Cons: A bit more choice for the casual food menu, with perhaps a pasta option would have been great.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Dinner was amazing breakfast superb and spa facilities were on point
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing breakfast, great location with views, really nice restaurant with great food and wine. Complementary filtered water and standard hot drinks was a welcome change in a hotel. The hotel was very well decorated inside with a well thought out interior in the common areas.
Cons: The open plan arrangement of the bath and sink was OK but the toilet was behind a glass door with a large gap at the top so there was no sound proofing. More privacy for the toilet would have been better. I was overcharged at the end of the stay. Other people's spa treatments were on my bill because we had the same surname and the payment I had made online to secure the booking was completely disregarded. Both these issues were rectified but I would have lost an awful lot of money if I had not noticed them myself.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was fabulous, over looking the sea. The food was excellent, as was the room and the pool and spa facilities. The staff were very helpful with excellent room service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly, accommodating, welcoming, nothing was to much trouble. On leaving the hotel my partner began to cry as she had had such a fantastic birthday! She had a birthday card from the staff, a happy birthday treat at dinner, all unexpected, it’s the little things that mean the most!

Pros: Good central location close to the beaches shops and bars
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are clean, a good size and recently renovated. The bathrooms are also recently refitted with good quality fittings. Everything looks modern and fresh. Breakfast was good but could have been hotter. You can see that the owners and staff are really working hard on making real improvements to the property.
Cons: The room could have been a litte warmer earlier in the evening. Heating did come on but not till 9 I think which is a bit late when you have a child. Didn't ask about changing as we were only there 1night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The building is a stately old guest house that is currently undergoing significant renovation and upgrades. The room that I stayed in was beautifully redone, with a wonderful view of the waterfront. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was a classic and filling "Full English" in a comfortable dining room. The Minerva is close to the bus and train station and just off the high street, so a very convenient location.
Cons: No negative comments.
7.0 Good
Pros: Great location and good sea views; nice eating places within walking distance; friendly owners and staff; modest and colourful decors; good breakfast; modern facilities in the toilet

6.3 Good
Pros: Lovely setting very quite .
Cons: To quite in the dinning room .
4.6 Okay
Pros: The room was great, very spacious & modern, the bathroom was excellent & very clean.
Cons: The quilt was VERY thick, I woke up sweating at least 3 times in the night but with it being cold as it is October I had to stay under the quilt- couldn’t find a happy medium so didn’t sleep very well, breakfast wasn’t great, i ordered the full English and when it came it was warm at best & comprised of 1 sausage, 1 egg, 1 slice of bacon & one slice of toast, my coffee was also nearing on cold. Had it been cheaper these niggles wouldn’t have mattered, however for the price of £80 a night I expected far better.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location and surrounds are wonderful. The garden was a delight. Staff very accommodating with dog. Very frugal breakfast bar selections.
Cons: Noise above our room every night for three days was horrendous.
