This is a lovely family who are very house proud with added personal touches to make you feel at home. The property was immaculate and very clean. The room was comfortably with a nice cosy bed. Breakfast was really delicious and filling. The location was also very good with the village within walking distance. They had a few pubs, takeaway, restaurant, budget shops etc. I will definitely stay there again one day. I only stayed 2 nights as I was there for a funeral, so did not get to explore the area as I would have done. There is plenty of parking spaces on the road near the B&B.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Love couple running the B&B and very attentive. Very comfortable and excellent breakfast.
Cons: It was all very nice. May be the rooms are a bit dated but that added to the setting and the charm of the house. I would rather this than a sterile modern hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was nicely cooked and very filling. I particilarly liked the eggs and the sausages. Michael and Amanda were very helpful and even supplied breakfast when we left early.
Cons: It was a shame the room wasn't en suite , All the rest are and I would choose one of them next time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our second stay with Amanda and Michael; superb hosts, friendly with nothing too much trouble, coffee and cake on arrival a real treat. Excellent accommodation very clean and comfortable and breakfast to hearten the body ready for the day.

Pros: The owners, Amanda and Michael were terribly nice -- Amanda even offered us freshly baked muffins every morning :) and they offered great advice on places to visit. Very lovely hosts :) and the dinners were healthy and hearty :)
Cons: One suggestion for improvement: the bathroom was a little dated (but very clean), however the shower cubicle was small, so it was hard to shower without banging into the cubicle glass. I wish I'd had a new soap in the room as it kinda ran out after the third wash, so on the last day it was a little difficult. But those were minor things.

4.2 Okay
Pros: Just pool and steam/sauna facilities The receptionist on arrival was polite and informative
Cons: Food was horrible, English breakfast was burnt, eggs benedict was industrial and disgusting sauce. Evening meal was industrial burgers and frites. Nearly all staff were students types and were not polite and were not organised. Double bed was 2 twin beds pushed together so there was a crack in the middle of the matress. The staff in the pool should have a better system and training, we put our towels and dressing gowns on 2 beds we were using and went for a swim in the pool upon which a student type staff took our towels/dressing gowns folded them and placed them Under the beds twice and so other people took the beds thinking there was no one using them, we therefore had no indoor beds to relax on and we had to leave to go back to our room, most anoying.
7.1 Good
Pros: Staff very friendly
Cons: Food was bland Staff not properly trained Service very slow and food cold when arrived
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing hotel and spa - very relaxing and luxurious
Cons: All of the food was excellent and dietary needs were taken into account with alternative options given The spa is fantastic and a great place to relax and unwind
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is beautiful in itself, but every member of staff we encountered was so friendly, smiley and accommodating which made a massive difference to our experience. There were also a lot of nice little touches such as, we visited for my partner's birthday so they left chocolates, a balloon and a card on the bed for our arrival. We also had the option of a complimentary turn down service which was just lovely and also had a departure pack of some biscuits and bottled water. We ate in the Gallery and the food was amazing! Fine dining style, the price matched the high quality but well worth it. We also visited the spa for a treatment as well as to use the facilities, it was all fantastic and the staff were again, all so helpful and we came away feeling so relaxed. The rooms were also very comfortable and I had the best nights sleep I've had in a while! Would highly, highly recommend a stay here!
Cons: That we only stayed for one night!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place. Wonderful spa. Very comfortable room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spa is amazing and staff very friendly
Cons: Slowness at bar in terms of delivery of drinks. Also left dirty glasses and dishes in table despite plenty of staff walking by!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful touches. They laid some fudge on our bed and a welcome drink on arrival as it was our wedding anniversary. The food was wonderful and the staff pleasant and professional. The room was luxurious and endless supply of gaia spa products in the room and all around the hotel. The house itself is amazing and interesting with history provided. Arrived stressed and left totally relaxed. The spa is incredible with free flip flops to wear with luxurious robes. We are 100% coming back in the future. Was wonderful couple stay. Could not fault it. The only comment i would make is that there is free water to drink but it would benefit from free tea and coffee machines like other spas i have been to, in the relaxation area. Also more tea and coffee provided in the room.
Cons: See above
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beds were good and staff really great
Cons: Could not control temperature of shower easerly.

7.5 Good
Pros: breakfast was poor, it was supposed to be served until 10.00 am, but if you got there at 9.30 am much of the buffet, pastries and fruit needed refilling. also the evening meal priced at £52.50 with no choice was no good. We were allocated room 4 initially, but it was split level and had to go down 3 or 4 steps to access the bathroom, the hand rails were attached to unsecured doors and therefor unsafe. also the steps down to the balcony had no hand rail and the wardrobe internals were not clean

Pros: The most attractive feature of this hotel was the peaceful location and splendid view of the valley, with all rooms having a balcony. The best experience was the service and staff who were outstandingly friendly and considerate.
Cons: The menu selection which had a poor choice for vegetarians and pescetarians. The desserts were also disappointing, all much of a muchness and too slushy. There were no tarts etc. or fresh fruit on offer.

Pros: I had a great stay at Alma lodge! I was greeted warmly and shown to my room which was massive (super comfy bed!). Paula asked if I needed any directions or had dinner plans and recommended some great places and gave me a map of the city. It took me 20 mins to walk into town from here. My breakfast was ready at 7.30 as pre arranged the night before. The service again in the morning was really personable and friendly. The lady (unsure of her name but so lovely) also kindly grabbed me an iron for my shirt! I would definately recommend, overall great value for money too. I'm sure I will stay again in the future when I'm next in Plymouth.
Cons: Nothing!
7.1 Good
Pros: Perfect location to ferry terminal, was able to comfortably accommodate my family of 5 in one room.
Cons: Unfortunately our ferry was leaving early so we was unable to have the cooked breakfast , However the staff was perfect by leaving milk and juice in the fridge so the children could have their breakfast before we left at 6.30am.

Pros: Phoned ahead to let them know what time my family would be arriving but then they got stuck in traffic. Phoned back up and ask to stay up just incase they were late for check-in. Which the lady agreed to. Then called me when they arrived to let me know they arrived safely. My wife said it's good value for money and will book again for the next trip to Plymouth.

7.1 Good
Pros: A return stay to this hotel which is convenient for Plymouth yet on the edge of the moor. Lovely veggie breakfast served by the upbeat and friendly owner.
Cons: I was on the second floor this time, a larger room than the ‘Pixie Room’ I had been in before, but it felt a bit less bright and airy. I was woken at 5:15 in the morning by what sounded like a shower pump in a cupboard next door and this continued off and on until I went down to breakfast. On checkout I was told my neighbour had left their extractor on, but that explanation didn’t seem to fit what I had experienced.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Booked hotel very last minute, reception staff were accommodating and booked us a table in restaurant so we were able to eat. I don't normally like eating in hotel restaurants, was surprisingly good and great value.
Cons: Nothing really, was only one night stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The views were fantastic & meals were excellent
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfasts and evening meals. Very helpful staff and our room was clean and spacious.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: The venison steak was a bit disappointing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Worth the effort driving to the hotel. Good views from hotel. I like the fact hotel is independently owned and run and not part of a chain. I liked the attention to detail and super friendliness of all staff. A well conceived and well run hotel.
Cons: I didn't like the fact that the mattress didn't have a mattress protector. I didn't like pixie figurine in bedroom - looked spooky.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the stay. The staff very friendly and helpful. The room cosy & comfortable, The steakhouse food was excellent.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were fantastic and very helpful from start to finish. I asked for a room that didn't allow dogs as I am allergic to some and we were given a room with a lovely view overlooking Dartmoor. The menu in the restaurant was very varied with some things you don't get every day like venison and swordfish and the food was very good quality.
Cons: The rooms are a little outdated in décor but the public areas were very nice. The look of the hotel on the outside doesn't really do it justice overall.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, great view, nice food and great room

Pros: We stayed at the Rainbow lodge for a visit to the theatre Royal Plymouth to see Motown. It was ideally situated for the theatre and resturarants, the staff were friendly and the room was clean and comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room. Excellent breakfast. Wonderful staff. We shall be back!
Cons: Everything was good. There was nothing to fault. See likes above.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great central location. Excellent breakfast Lovely hosts. Ironing board and iron. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Lovely and clean with fresh towels.
Cons: Attic bedroom which due to the lovely weather was very hot but we had a fan and a fridge in the room and velux windows to open
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rainbow Lodge is beautifully appointed and extremely clean. Everything you can think of is provided and the addition of a fridge in the bedroom is much appreciated. The breakfast was very good and our host was extremely attentive, offering extra drinks and toast if required. There was a good selection of cereals and dried fruit, as well as fresh fruit. Hot food was cooked perfectly. The property is ideally located but, like most accommodation in Plymouth, parking is on street and therefore incurs an additional charge. We have been fortunate to find a parking space close by on both our visits to Rainbow Lodge.
Cons: I have given 3/4 for the breakfast because we have been offered a greater selection of cooked food elsewhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is ideal , the hosts are very welcoming & do anything to make your stay comfortable . we enjoyed our stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The Rainbow was booked at the last minute but was a pleasant surprise. The room was welll setup and comfortable and was handy to the port area for restaurants, pubs and bars.
Cons: All good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sue and Cheryl were lovely people and made us very welcome. Very good location for exploring Plymouth on foot
Cons: The only downside is parking , but they helped us by suggesting buying a parking card which saved us money during our stay
5.4 Okay
Pros: Good location, nice big room
Cons: Hosts seemed a bit unfriendly when we arrived. We booked this b&b for the parking offered then had to pay an extra £5 per day for a visitors permit (even though the council website said £2). The room was not cleaned well and we were told off for leaving an egg white!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The host's were simply lovely. Warm and welcoming. Genuinely nice people
Cons: The council parking charges.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly owners, nice, clean room with everything you could possibly need, as well as a huge bed. If I need a room in the area again I will definitely be visiting here. Would definitely reccomend.
