9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place with incredible views! The room was clean and the huge balcony/terrace was a nice surprise! Spa was small but as there was a limited amount of guests at a time, it worked well! Breakfast was good and versatile.
Cons: Absolutely the weakest link on our trip was dinners at the hotel restaurant. Food quality was nothing special and with some dishes almost poor quality (risotto to mention as one). The service during breakfast time was slow.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: A science of A/C and cost of the spa
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Intersting menus. Helpful staff overcoming the coffee machine failures with coffee from the kitchen
Cons: Frustration with coffee machine at breakfast
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was outstanding-glorious view! The food was excellent and the reception staff were very helpful. Room was large and comfortable-and did I mention the view?
Cons: There is a bar where you can get tapas and bar food but there was only one person on duty when we went and she was seriously overworked. More bar staff would have been good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: FANTASTIC view all over. Outstanding breakfast and deserts. Even the spa has an exeptional view with sunsets. Elegant and sober rooms. The ladies, Christina & Co in the reception, were full of excellent information. Dedicated to help !
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location is simply fabulous, with a breathtaking view of the mountains from a large terrace accompanying the room. The room itself is large and very clean. The staff is very kind. Breakfast is all right.
Cons: The bed was a bit uncomfortable.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is situated in a small village in the middle of the island. We travelled there by local bus which was easy and reasonably priced. It is surrounded by mountains and has a sun terrace facing them with fantastic views. Many people use the hotel as a base to walk and cycle. We just sat in the sun on the terrace enjoying the view and sun. There are a number of restaurants/ bars nearby. Our bedroom and bathroom were good sizes. The breakfast was very good, with boiled eggs, fruit and freshly made coffee.
Cons: Many of the restaurants / bars close in the evening but are open in the day time. We eat in the evening so our choice was a little limited. Some restaurants which open in the evening do not open every evening.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good location for hiking in the mountains. Nice room with panoramic view.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: In a delightful village high in the mountains of Gran Canaria. Welcoming very comfortable hotel.with tremendous views.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner and especially the housekeeper, ( I think her name is Ava) were very cheerful, friendly and helpful. During our 3 night stay we felt so welcome and comfortable. The hotel is so clean, even balcony & the terrace were polished. There was a choice of local nuts & honey and usual but nice quality continental breakfast. We ate a tasty dinner at a restaurant in Tejeda Cueva de la Tea owned by the same family and received the same impeccable customer service. Would love to return.
Cons: If pressed 2 single beds were pushed together to form a double.

5.0 Okay
Cons: Rooms dated need a face lift. We thought the food and presentation disappointing 6 years since we were there and felt it had gone down. Hot food cold on a number of occasions
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The grounds were beautifully maintained and despite being a very large resort, it never felt crowded. The variety of food at the buffets was exceptionally good. There was a nudist sundeck which was a pleasant surprise. The two towers either side of reception gave excellent views over the dunes and the resort. It was good to be given a choice of times when housekeeping staff could refresh rooms.
Cons: People should not walk between the entertainers on stage and the audience during performances. The nudist sundeck should be made non-smoking, for the comfort and convenience of people there.
7.1 Good
Pros: Bra läge
Cons: Really bad room service, from ordering too food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is beautiful, buffet food very good staff very friendly. The facilities in the hotel excellent and the other restaurants top quality.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property lovely grounds pools etc
Cons: Reception staff, complained numerous times about the AC not working in our room and nothing was done about it they said it was fixed even though it wasn’t, not even an apology or a follow up, sent them an email and didn’t even get a response
10.0 Excellent

Cons: None
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Position was great and the pool areas wonderful
Cons: The good isn’t great. We didn’t like the canteen style food if half board. We ended up going out and paying.

4.0 Okay
Pros: The hotel is very nicely laid out with nice pools and green space. Our room was large and clean with a comfortable bed. The food was good and the serving staff were nice Location was nice.
Cons: Room lacked plug sockets and furniture was a bit lacking. No sound proofing. They make you pay to use a safe that is already in the room which I think is outrageous price gouging. After we complained we did get that free but it’s a poor way to treat people who have paid a lot already for the room. Feels like a 3* hotel move. No tea/coffee facilities in the room or audio equipment and minibar was tiny so you couldn’t use it for anything else. Check in took ages and involved a lot of printing. We were there during the coronavirus outbreak and they shut the hotel and moved us to a worse one -costa Meloneras. I thought this was kind of unnecessary and more of a cost saving move for the hotel chain, the food at the second hotel was dreadful and room much smaller. I thought it is very poor form of the management not to acknowledge this at all. Obviously it’s a drastic time for everyone there and my sympathies go to the staff but I think the management handled it poorly- it was far from a 5 star experience. Would not go back as a result.
7.0 Good
Pros: The pool areas
Cons: The fridge was too small and you had to pay for the room safe.
7.0 Good
Pros: Had visited Hotel before, so returned. Liked everything else except above.
Cons: Encountered a very unfriendly reception staff member. Un supervised children running around the dining room with plates in their hands....not 5* standard. Difficulty locating room on arrival not easy when one is up at 04.00hrs in the am and arriving in Hotel at night.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb location - sand dunes fantastic early morning late night stroll - friendly efficient staff - we were half board and could not fault the selection of food available

Pros: Pool area +heated pool, service, activities, food, great place to spend vacation
Cons: Buses/trucks noise from the entrance area and from the neighbouring hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is amazing! Arrived shortly before the lockdown and the hotel did a great job of looking after the guests. Once everything has returned to normal, I hope to revisit the hotel and experience what the island & hotel has to offer.
7.1 Good
Pros: We had a perfect holiday
9.0 Excellent
Cons: The price of drinks was excessive
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was great, clean and comfortable, the pool area was very relaxing although it was right next to a very busy street, so it can get a little noisy. The food was nice and decent not bad but not spectacular either. The choice was the same almost every day.
Cons: I had all inclusive, so it was disappointing when I found out that only limited things in the restaurant and the bar are available. Don't know if it is like that in every hotel, but I couldn't get every drink from the bar but only selected items. Same goes for one of two restaurants. The wifi wasn't free, which is ridiculous, I had to pay 10e extra only to find out it could get sometimes slow for streaming video, and outside of the hotel it doesn't even work, so you can forget about using it by the pool area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Overall our stay was a very enjoyable experience.
Cons: Free WIFI was up and down. Bed mattrass was a bit too hard for me.

Pros: The room and the location was ok.
Cons: Due to a flight cancellation, I did not arrive until Monday, missing two nights. I contacted you and the refused to change the booking. I did inform them of the cancellation by phone. 7.0 Good
Pros: My only complaint is the living room was not comfortable. No good seats to relax in othervice everything good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff especially Pancho were always helpful and attentive.
Cons: All good!!!!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean throughout, great apartment, great bar service and the pool and lounging area is perfect! Very professional reception, bar and service team.
7.7 Good
Pros: Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms were well kept and cleaned daily. The pool area was always cleaned and offered sufficient space for sunbathing. The pool could have been heated as it was too cold to use. Overall a good standard of accommodation.
Cons: Axelbeach restaurant was underused and offered only a very basic menu of burgers, club sandwich and a couple of salads. Breakast was adequate with the buffet choice available. One disappointing aspect was the pool bar closing at 6pm. Given the gay clientele, more could have been done after 6pm to make the axelbeach more sociable by providing guests the opportunity to mix and get to know each other. It would have been the ideal place to meet before heading out for the night - topless barmen? DJ?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, treatment, size of the room, breakfast and nice people
Cons: Nothing
6.0 Good
Pros: Location is excellent. Overall cleanliness and room size were very good. Grounds were nice.
Cons: Hot water system sucks. scalding to lukewarm temperature changes every couple of minutes is unacceptable for a relatively expensive luxury resort. This wasn't just my room - other friends experienced similar issues in a room at the other end of the hotel. Food at onsite cafe mediocre.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very big - but really fantastic. Beautiful rooms. Beautiful lobby and public areas. Several pool areas, pool bars and a nice restaurant where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner or all inclusive. The staff is very serviceminded. I loved to stay there and can only recommend.
Cons: everything was fine
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Food was delicious. Nice room. Near to the see. Everithing was perfect.
7.9 Good
Pros: The animation team were really friendly and always something on every day
Cons: Had a range of facilities however had to pay in addition for everything. eg the gym, the sports courts etc nothing was included within your stay.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel and staff in general were very nice and polite. you can see that the hotel is new (or at least is just been refurbished). we stayed in a standard double room which is bigger than every standard double room we have stayed in any other hotel. the buffet place/restaurant is very big and offers a lot of different choices every day. the pool bar offers a lot of tables where you can sit during the day and in the evening to watch the shows.
Cons: the only "negative" things i have to say are: the hotel is not in a very good location but is a nice walk to the center and you need to wake up veeeery early in the morning (i was waking up at 7am and towels were already placed on sun lounges) to be able to find a good spot at the pool, all the people were putting their towels on the sun lounges leaving free the one in the shade. maybe it is fair if the hotel puts in place opening hours for the pool so everyone can have a chance to stay under the sun.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Relatively good distance to the beach
Cons: The food was the worst I ever encountered in any of my holidays, I had food poison one night, I was sick the night and day after, staff were very uninformed, my son asked about the basketball court, we were told they don t have one, only to discover it on the day we left, no need to say how disappointed he was, considering he even brought his basket ball with him, even though it was January, it was quite busy, so in the morning all the sunbeds were taken, covered in towels, even though, some remained empty for the day
7.0 Good
Pros: Great pools. Modern complex. Rooms were spacious and well equipped.
Cons: The food got boring and desserts were terrible. The floor wasn't cleaned all week even after a sandstorm. Single beds.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: The bed was not so good

5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff are excellent and very friendly the location of the hotel is also very good the drinks are also very good on all inclusive
Cons: The food was awful it lets this hotel down the hotel itself is great good location staff are excellent and friendly but we have been ill for the first time ever abroad meals done in oil or sauce or coated in herbs and spices there is no variety and a lot of it is. recycled meal to meal and I have never seen so much turkey in my life in one form or another also this is just a suggestion a metal step ramp or a ramp into the pool as I noticed and heard a lot of people say they could not get into the pool which was lovely I might add
7.0 Good
Pros: was ok
Cons: a lot of property crammed into small space
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Close to the airport, clean, very friendly staff, good central location.
Cons: Aside from breakfast which was good, the food was fairly mediocre. Odd salad mixes and a lot of reliance on pork and stew type dishes. The quality of produce wasn’t the best - super cheap burgers etc.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Sofa bed was massive. Best bed in the apatment. Room easily sleeps 3 people.
Cons: Pool was a little on the cold side

Cons: Customer service. They are rude and don’t care about the customer. I had booked in advance in Labranda Bronze and when reached there it was around 9 pm, they said we are full and you have to go to our another hotel where you will get your room. Obviously with option in late night we went to there another hotel Marieta . They are awful. I don’t recommend this labranda chain.

Overview Reviews
In this holiday resort you will experience magnificent rest in its modern apartments and bungalows, peacefulness in its outdoor areas with swimming pools and impressive gardens, and fun in its sports and games areas. Share these moments with the people you love most! A great team of professionals will accompany your stay at Sol Barbacan, offering services and attention that guarantee your well-being and comfort. Anexperiencethatyouwilldefinitelywant to repeat. Sol Barbacan is owned by the Fransen family from the Netherlands. The family owns several hotels that all have the same warm, personal atmosphere and quality as Sol Barbacan, namely El Gran Meliá Sancti Petri in Chiclana (Spain), and Country Estate De Wilmersberg and Hotel ´t Kruisselt (The Netherlands). Both hotels in the Netherlands used to be country retreats of rich textile manufacturers and are located in a beautiful wooded area in the region of Twente. They were later transformed to the splendid hotels that they are at present.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel with family friendly amenities, clean and modern. Nice gym and great kids pool. Good location and overall we would recommend it. Our only complaint was the noise from the hotel bar.
Cons: Too much noise from the Hotel Bar late into the night. For a family with kids it was like a house party nearly every night. We requested a transfer further away from the bar but without success.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Pools, facilities and apartments were excellent.
Cons: Some of the staff were a little grumpty at times but they were in the minority
8.0 Excellent
Cons: We loved the hotel. The best thing about it was definitely the animation team! They always had something fun going on and our children had a blast
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent friendly helpful staff. Central location. Perfect Hotel offers great entertainment day and night. The entertainment staff couldn't be more helpful who went out of there way to accommodate and encourage taking part in activities. Couldn't ask for better apartment maintained by olga who gave 1st class service with additional personal touch. Hoping to come back next year. *****
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is always very good. I love it, but this time march 2020, I have my own breakfast in my apartment, because I will try to eat less than usually. I have been 16 times before in your hotel and always with full breakfast and as I said before, I love it. This stay at Barbacan was nr. 17 and was the first time I only have breakfast one times, so I dont need diet now !!!
Cons: Nothing, I think. But of course I would like to stay in the sunnyside wing from the beginning !!!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb views. Good location, just a bit out of town. On the first day we did a lovely 8 mile circular walk without using the car. We decided to have half board this time and we weren't disappointed, although main courses not as good as the buffets. Always plenty of choice. On Valentine's night we had a lovely bottle of red wine included.
Cons: The balcony in the room was much smaller than the photo showed. The shower was poor and needed updating. The files of walks were an excellent idea but quite difficult to use.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was on a hilltop above a small traditional hill village. For me it was perfect as it was a really relaxing and tranquil, restful spot as an antidote to the first part of my holiday based in the coastal resort of Maspalomas. Also I was cycling so a great base up in the hills with easy access to a great network of mountain roads in the centre of the island. Views are great. I think that all the rooms face outwards to great views to mountain ridges and valleys with sea beyond and traditional hill villages. Temperature still in low 20s in Feb but fresher than coast and smells of pine trees. Room was spacious and clean as was bathroom. One small thing was that shower pressure and flow could've been stronger, but perfectly adequate as was. Had a bidet. I like a bidet! Furnishings were traditional and quality and decoration had sense of local character which was a nice change to many hotels which are so neutral that they could be anywhere. Entrance foyer, bar and restaurant make an impact with a 'wall' of continuous full-height glazing overlooking the great view. Staff at reception and in dining room were friendly, cheerful and helpful. I went for half-board and was glad that I did. It's worth noting for fellow solo travellers that the experience of dining alone there was pleasant and comfortable one. Felt very much at ease. Breakfast was a buffet which was good but not exceptional. For the price, the quality of the evening meal was very good in terms of variety of menu choice, food quality and presentation. Bit above normal standard in my experience. (System is that you get evening meal options at breakfast and hand your choice into reception hour or so before dinner - worked for me.) Although I didn't use the pool, spa, massage facilities etc. I thought this was a good facility. Included in price apart for treatments, massages, etc. Massage prices looked reasonable.
Cons: The only negative issue I had was that the soundproofing between my room and the adjoining ones was poor. This let the otherwise impression of solidity, quality and tranquillity down a bit. Toilet paper was very thin. I know this is a small issue but come on! - how much does it coast to put in some luxurious quilted stuff? Lastly, was little disappointed that nowhere to fill my bike bottles at reception and instead I bought bottled water at the adjacent shop. It wouldn't have taken much effort to fill my bottles for me in the adjacent restaurant kitchen. But let me be clear - these really are relatively insignificant and minor moans in the wider context that was a real 'find' of a hotel for me and as a relaxing base in the mountains with fantastic panoramic views, helpful cheery staff, large, clean and comfortable well-furnished rooms with private balconies and well above average evening meals. But a note to the hotel please - can you soundproof the rooms please when you next u-grade. It would make a great stay even better. One last small moan :-) Whilst there was free I-fi in very comfortable reception and 'library' room - there's a daily charge for Wi=fi access in guest rooms. This just struck me as a bit mean. Come on sort out Wi-fi in the rooms and get some confidence inspiring and luxury bog paper!
4.0 Okay
Pros: Food was good, staff friendly, room clean
Cons: The first two rooms we were in had a terrible smell of sewage, human excrement, which made us sick. I had to sleep on a couch in the lobby one night. The hotel would NOT allow any discount for this awful smell. The manager would not meet us. The dining room serve hot food on cold plates even soup where they store the plates in warming machine but don’t turn the heat on.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful views. Helpful staff. Lovely heated pool.
Cons: Not possible to get a meal after 9pm
9.2 Excellent
Cons: Only the shower Needs to change
4.0 Okay
Pros: The location is fabulous with views down the caldera and onwards to the Atlantic beyond. The swimming pool is good. The exterior gardens as you approach the front entrance are well kept and very attractive. The parking facilities were good.
Cons: The hotel lacks investment and is showing signs of its age. The bathroom was very disappointing. It had three chips out of the sink bowl. The shower head was stuck on a thin but strong setting and the temperature was up and down all the time. The bathrobes were obviously very old being a greyish off-white colour. The handrails into the bath were located in an unhelpful position. The food is not very good - particularly the main courses which you have to order in advance. On both evenings that we stayed we had similarly disappointing experiences. The buffet starters and desserts were better, but you had to be there at the beginning of service to get the best offerings. During mealtimes the bar is left unattended which is not helpful if you want an aperitif. The loungers around the pool were old wooden type and the varnish was peeling badly on all of them. The pads were old and unattractive and unappealing to lie on. Some of the staff were good, but quite a few looked like they were not happy to be there and were not helpful.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice view , nice personala, central for trekking,
Cons: Bad smell from the toilet, and we miss balcone
9.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely location and nice friendly staff. The breakfast is very good and evening meals have been good.
7.9 Good
Pros: Poolarea. The view.
Cons: Not so informative staff in the reception. Referred to booklets.. Too rustic/ wooden furniture. Long time since renovation... You have to buy your own water every day. Coffee was not included after dinner.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location, the view, helpful staff, the decor, the pool, the sun terrace
Cons: The main courses for the evening meal were disappointing, variable in standard, one evenings choice lovely, another almost inedible, others just ok, but the buffet was good enough to make up for any shortcomings.

Pros: It was a great stay. I was worried staying alone but I did not feel alone the whole 10 days I was there. Everyone seem to know everyone and they were all accomodating. What you get at Bulls Canaria is predictability in a good way. It is always there and the staff always had a smile and always willing to assist. I would like to thank Ricardo for upgrading my stay and always asking how I am each time I see him. Buenos Gracias!!! I will definitely go back.
Cons: I complained about the bathroom but it was sorted.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved almost everything. Staff are friendly, the place is spotless, comfy beds, buffet food good. Nice spa, great rooftop terrace with jacuzzi. Enjoyed the Pilates, aqua aerobics, archery and shooting (all included). Really a lovely place to unwind. Should at that the average age of guests in winter is 75, so if you're looking for good nightlife this isn't the place for you, but it suited us as we just wanted to relax.
Cons: The Friday barbecue was a disappointment. Undercooked meat, cross-contamination with cooking utensils. However, our comments were taken on board and we were offered a choice of other food (we were half board). Not sure about sunbed reservation system. Saved rushing in the morning, but then you're stuck in the same place unless you want to go hunting for beds without tags.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was very clean, comfortable and the staff were helpful.
Cons: We wanted something quiet - don’t come if you’re looking for a party. Some of the dinner options at the buffet cater to the many German guests. However there are lots of options and we ate well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We both really enjoyed the Spa Facilities, the Dead Sea pool is something else! Very clean tidy hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was very good and the service too. The staff were helpful and did all they could to help us with anything we needed. The hotel facilities were modern and comfortable, and location excellent, right on the promenade.
Cons: The room we stayed in was in need of an update, although it was quite adequate for our needs. We chose the room for its location separate from the main hotel building, in the gardens. It was more private than the other rooms.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved the bungolw by the pool. Spa, darkroom, roof terrace all excellenct. Breakfast every morning was spectacular, also the gym we used these facilities every day. A big thank you to the staff who always made us welcome
Cons: 10 min walk to San Agustin shopping centre especially at night if you wish an evening meal out. Not sure if taxi will take you. Also no ATM in hotel. The evening entertainment very poor catered for Germans which l felt left out being English.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I both loved this property and the location. There is something very sweet about this part of San Agustin. It reminds me of how resorts used to be back in the day when I was a kid in the 80s. The places we used to go that were closer to where we lived. Everything has been maintained beautifully. Even though it is a smaller resort it has everything you need and the spa is exceptional. The gym also has the best people working for them that make certain everyone is involved in fun activities. The pool is a good size. The garden has enough space for everyone and has a lovely ambiance about it. The staff is amazing! Helpful, considerate and warm people.
Cons: There is nothing I disliked. There are though a few points I would like to highlight to anyone travelling there that they might want to consider: 1) Most customers of the resort were between 70-90 with very few exceptions. This depending on the viewpoint can be an attribute or not. 2) The sand is blackish. Not completely black like in places in Santorini but not yellow either. It's not a striking colour nor a very attractive one. However, it is the fluffiest and softest sand I've ever experienced. Also, it is magnetic. Endless hours of fun playing with my magnet and the sand :D The waters are very clear and the beach very clean. 3) It is a very quiet spot. This to me was merit but some might prefer a busier place.
