The staff are long-serving and excellent - competent and friendly. The hotel will close in July for renovations until mid-2020 and the jobs of unionised staff are not protected. I really hope that they find a way to hold onto the staff, as they are a real source of competitive advantage!
WiFi in the room was spotty. The men’s locker room in the gym really needs work, particularly the shower fixture.
The staff are really extraordinary
I’ve stayed in this hotel for years, and am impressed with the low staff turnover - many have been there for 20 years or more. They are good at their jobs and bring a continuity/consistency of service to the hotel that would otherwise be difficult to achieve. They really go the extra mile for guests.
Staff are uniformly great -- all are long service, they know their jobs, they get to know repeat customers.
The property is rather dated (gold and red colour scheme throughout) and the changes that have been made (replacing carpets with hard surfaces, painting everything gray) don't really work.
The lobby was under construction. You felt like you were in a building zone. Very disappointed.
Staff was excellent. Long term professional staff remembered us after an 8 year absence. Location is perfect.
Location was perfect. You could walk anywhere or take the subway.
