I occupied the room from 12 to 19:30. The person at the reception agreed not to make me pay for the person I was with. Room and location are fine

I would like to thank the management & staff HUGELY, they were so friendly, patient, kind & helpful when my mobile was broken due to a virus, The manager knew I was traveling alone & went out of his way to give me a lift to Yasnaya Polyana, the main focus of my visit. The Tsar has character, it's not top notch luxury or comfort but has a funky, homely log house feel I liked - I felt relaxed there which is my priority. Lots of young people seemed to be running it. Sadly there were no nice bars or cafes nearby for the days the restaurant was closed. Hotel Tsar has a sweet garden enclosed for kids, & the adjacent Park is really nice for an evening walk, I felt safe & it felt family friendly. This area was about the only part of Tula I could have stood to stay in as it was wooded & quiet & unpolluted. The hotel is noisy when they host an event but that's part of the fun of travel & life, seeing how people live.
Some more local information, printed bus maps & timetables would have been SO handy, i took a while to fathom it all out. A set of simple crockery & a kettle in the room, a notice to remind guests to ask for bottled water which they give freely but you need to know. Tula itself is not a 'small town' by my standards - most of it was pretty noisy, polluted & rough, I was a bit disappointed. But Yasnaya Polyana wonderful & worth the visit.
