Tynycornel Hotel - Tywyn - Building
9.1 Excellent (731 reviews)
C$ 167+
Overview Reviews
With a magnificent location, surrounded by the stunning natural beauty and dramatic scenery of the Snowdonia National Park, the Tynycornel Hotel looks out over its own 222-acre fishing lake. With the majestic mountains of Cader Idris reflected in its waters, Tal-y-Llyn Lake is more than a scenic asset; the hotel owns the lake, which is noted for its superb fishing. Tynycornel was a well-known fishing hostelry as early as 1800 and guests enjoy priority access to Tal-y-Llyn's prized waters, together with fine river fishing. Sensitively refurbished, Tynycornel is a solid, traditional building, rich in original character and traditional charm. The en suite rooms have splendid lakeside or garden views and guests can also stay in the adjacent accommodation, converted from old farm buildings. All rooms have TVs, telephones and tea/coffee making facilities. There is a spacious lounge overlooking the lake and the quiet bar and restaurant both offer a high standard of cuisine with an extensive wine list.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The minute you arrive and see the setting. Stunning. All the staff were brilliant.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The view, the staff and the food. The breakfast was exceptional value with fresh local ingredients and staff willing to customize your order. Dinners were just as good. We enjoyed just sitting in the lounge or lakeside and drinking lots of tea. Rooms were clean.
Cons: The fixtures in the room needed maintenance, e.g. paint pealing off radiators and door to balcony would not close properly. Rooms just a little too small for two people. On the balcony the nesting swallows & martins made a mess on the ground, but please don't remove the nests. Wi-Fi signal too weak for our room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Astounding breakfast! Traditional full grill to vegan and many healthy and interesting options in between.
Cons: Honestly, it was just right.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Set at a stunning location with breathtaking views, we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff were polite, helpful and made you feel very welcome. The food & drink whilst a little expensive was very good (I would recommend the minted lamb pie).
Cons: I did not have a mobile phone signal or 4G. Whilst there was an internet connection it was slow within the main building and non existent within the separate outside rooms. Please get this resolved.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location location location Comfortable beds. Quiet.
Cons: Some plumbing a bit dated. No biggie.

Seabreeze Restaurant With Rooms - Aberdyfi - Bedroom
9.1 Excellent (299 reviews)
C$ 138+
Overview Reviews
Seabreeze has an idyllic seafront location in the old fishing port of Aberdovey. It offers central, seafront bed-and-breakfast accommodation with views over the beautiful Dovey estuary. Fresh, local produce is served on the seasonal Welsh menu in the restaurant. Seabreeze offers en-suite rooms with powerful showers. A choice of breakfasts are available at an additional cost. Aberdovey is the perfect base from which to explore Mid and North Wales.
6.7 Good
Pros: Food and location
Cons: Hair dryer had no fan guard Bed had no valance Dirty marks in bathroom Told owners they did nothing about it
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Central location, views of sea, delicious food, very helpful and friendly staff.
Cons: Showers could have been more reliable. They tended to fluctuate in power. WiFi was poor in the upper rooms. Could only rely on WiFi downstairs in the restaurant
7.5 Good
Pros: Pleasant boutique hotel located on the main thoroughfare in Aberdyfi with frontage to the beach. The room was a good size (we had a large double), clean and bed very comfortable. Breakfast was included in the price and was very good. We also had lunch in the restaurant which was excellent - very good food.
Cons: The hotel does not have parking but they offer a 24 hour pass for the pay & display car park opposite for £4, which is good value and resolve the issue. We suspect the building has suffered from subsidence, as the floor in Room 1 (first floor) does not feel level to walk on and is quite disorientating, although sleeping is fine so no issue there.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Really good bacon and the bed was massive and it had a lovely sofa
Cons: The extractor fan in the bathroom gave me headache
9.6 Excellent
Pros: In a great location with fantastic views from the large windows (once you look past the council car park!). The room was very nicely decorated and felt homely and comfortable, there was even a small sitting area which was a fabulous addition meaning we had somewhere to relax other than on the bed when the weather was too bad to go out. Breakfast was amazing, very large portions and extremely accommodating for food allergies/preferences. Highly recommend.
Cons: The bed/pillows where not as comfortable as expected but there were extra pillows available and the beds size certainly made up for it.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place staff where amazing food excellent and room very nice location was great
Cons: Just the room view

7.9 Good
Pros: Beautiful views accross estuary and of sea. Delicious meals and sensible sized servings not too big and well balanced! A male member of staff was very helpful on our 2nd evening in arranging for our car to fit in to limited car park space. Friendly and interesting guests! Super dog friendly. We enjoyed the walk along the sea front with our dog.
Cons: Parking was a bit tricky as limited. My husband is disabled but no one informed us that there was free disabled parking in public car park a few hundred yards up the street. However apart from day of arrival we did manage to park in the space just opposite Penhelig Arms.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the apartment which had spectacular views across the bay. It decor, furnishings and facilities were excellent. Breakfast was substantial and we ate in the restaurant in the evening. This was exceptionally good and reasonably priced. The apartment has its own designated parking place but please note this was at the back and accessed up a steep flight of steps. The apartment itself is only accessed by a flight of outdoor steps which was no problem for us but may be difficult for someone of limited mobility. Staff were friendly and helpful.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous bedroom. No. 12. Excellent beds, sea view, comfy seating area and excellent tea, coffee facilities.
Cons: Nothing I didn't like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The steaks were amazing
Cons: The prawn cocktail. It had far too much mayonnaise
7.1 Good
Pros: Great choice for breakfast and cooked to order. Spacious sea view room. Parking in the nearby car park refunded by the hotel.
Cons: Road noise.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Before booking I was somewhat confused by how disparate some of the reviews had been : some were glowing, others were scathing in their criticism…! So these are my views : great location with a tremendous panorama of the estuary but the outside dining one sees on the website is actually on the other side of the main A493 coast road into Aberdyfi itself which runs right past the front door, so care is needed…! How misleading photographs can be sometimes...! The premises is clean but extremely compact especially the bar / snug area, the décor of which was somewhat sad looking with stains on the seating, faded woodwork that had seen better days and handles on doors to the loos that didn’t work or sometimes close properly…
Cons: Breakfast in the restaurant was adequate, although the dining area was a little cramped, and the kitchen had run out of individual yoghurts before the end of our stay but did provide bowls of plain yoghurt as a replacement… Basic fruit like apples and bananas were also available but no dried fruits like raisins and apricots which one might have expected from such an apparently highly-rated hotel (your AA Rosette obviously didn’t extend to breakfasts)… I ordered the roasted red pepper and asparagus quiche for one meal and was disappointed by the very thin slice I received, nothing special…We didn’t have a meal here again… Our room was a small double on the top floor (room 8), the only one available when I booked, which from the outset had a problem with its walk-in shower (so tepid that it didn’t ever produce any condensation in the small bathroom)… I reported this to the management on 2 occasions, and, in fairness, a member of staff did investigate the problem on the second occasion, fiddled with the mixer tap, singularly managed to produce warmer water from the shower head and commented that “sometimes they are a bit sticky”…! And that was it…! Thereafter a tepid shower was the best we could hope for… The complaint was not really taken seriously and was more of an annoyance and inconvenience for the staff member than anything else… In fact, as far as staffing was concerned, there seemed to be an air of customer indifference… No-one introduced themselves by name or had role badges identifying themselves… At times, the hotel was seriously understaffed, and when we booked in we were told that the place was usually locked up at 2330 every evening and that there would not be a member of staff on the premises until the following morning…! This may be a serious liability for anyone with mobility issues thinking of staying here, particularly as one has to negotiate 2 x challenging spiral staircases to the main reception if one’s room is on the top floor…
