Loud. Very loud
No late check out. Staff unhelpful. Management unable to reach.
Very clean room. I like it
Convenient enough. Marginally cheaper than a few other hotels in the area when booked well in advance.
The people yelling in the streets could be clearly heard until the early hours of the morning, in addition to every thump and loud conversation from the surrounding rooms and hall. It was difficult to achieve a good night's rest -- and the dated bedding did not particularly aid in this effort (although the pillows were decent, at least). The old magstrip keycard readers for the room would often take multiple tries to get the lock to open, and weren't obvious when they did work on the doors, or on the elevator access in the lobby. The hotel does not appear to have had any significant updates in the past few decades, and as such the price outweighs the value.
Fair price, and there turned out to be parking down the street, so really not too much of a hassle after all. Good service.
There's super limited parking. We arrived on Saturday, but all of their passes were given out the night before. That made it a little confusing since half their parking lot was open. Just prepare to park offsite.
Simple. And easy
Could hear people on the floor above us and outside our door in the early morning.
Could not sleep!
Decent location, walked everywhere and did not need to drive in the hectic Vancouver downtown area. Cheaper than other hotels in the area.
While it was downtown, it didn't quite feel safe to walk around alone at night in that area. Walk a bit further and you get to a safer area, but the hotel is surrounded by Strip Clubs and Adult entertainment stores. Also, the soundproofing was TERRIBLE and the room was tiny. We could hear the people upstairs talking at 2 am, making it impossible to sleep. Eventually we were forced to call the front desk to complain. As well, outside our room was the huge Howard Johnson neon sign. While the windows were opaque, you could still see the red glow through the cracks, illuminating the room. Overall, would not stay again or recommend.
Fun on Granville
If you want to be in the heart of the clubs and pubs this is the best place to stay!
Great value for Downtown Vancouver
Has a parking lot dedicated to hotel guests. Cheap compared to others in the area. Within walking distance to many restaurants.
No fridges in room. Have to pay parking fee. Power outlets hard to reach, and not near bed. Ice machine only on one floor.
Booked 2 double beds and was bumped to a single double bed for 2 guys. Not cool. Charged me an extra 20$ for a cot.
I liked the location as it was walking distance to all I wanted to see and do. The motel was quaint and older but with charm.
There were loud street bums and partiers out our window. Bummer of a night. Stay on the north side of the hotel!
Great price and proximity to everything
Better coffee in rooms
