Hotel De Peracker - Waregem - Building
1
8.2 Excellent (77 reviews)
C$ 149+
Overview Reviews
Hotel De Peracker is situated at the edge of Waregem in a former barn which was transformed into a restaurant and hotel. De Peracker is well known for its spacious terrace with a view over the lake. All of the rooms at the hotel benefit from satellite smart TV and a seating area. A buffet breakfast is served each morning. The restaurant has a special stonegrill, a special way of dining which is ideal for groups. The centre of Kortrijk and the Kortrijk Xpo halls are a 15-minute drive from De Peracker. Gent is 25 minutes away from the hotel by car.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was large with en suite shower room and kitchenette. The wifi was fast and the bed comfortable. Shower was equipped with rainfall shower head as optional fixed alternative. Nice outlook directly over small lake adjacent to hotel.
Cons: The menu at the onsite restaurant is very basic but the hosts were flexible in my choice of pizza toppings.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the great hospitality and the host's cooking was lovely. We looked forward to breakfast and dinner everyday.
Cons: It's a little far from anything else so if you stay here it's probably best to rent a vehicle.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really wonderful hotel and very clean. Lake is beautiful as are the rooms and their view. Very friendly personnel, you're welcomed as if you were family. Good, correct food and nice bar. Breakfast is more than ok!
Hotel Ambassade - Waregem - Building
2
7.7 Good (302 reviews)
C$ 154+
Overview Reviews
Hotel Ambassade is located in the centre of Waregem and offers free parking. The train station is just a 5-minute walk away. The rooms are bright and have a private bathroom as well as free Wi-Fi access. Guests can make use of the sauna and solarium if they want to warm-up during cold weather. From The Ambassade Hotel, it takes a 10-minute drive to the E17 motorway and a 20-minute drive to Kortrijk Xpo. Ghent is a 30-minute drive from Waregem.
7.5 Good
Pros: The owner and host was very pleasant and welcoming - he was the only staff member I saw during my stay. The room itself was cosy, with a mini bar that had a Belgian beer in it (for 2 Euros). The water was hot and plentiful, which was very welcome after a long journey to get to the hotel from Brussels. Despite its shortcomings, this quirky hotel was very pleasant for a short stay and I would not discount staying here again.
Cons: The hotel is a mishmash of different styles. I had a twin room with a squashy mattress, and the single bed was not large. The room itself was shrouded in darkness, I don't think the blinds were ever open, and there was an odd assortment of shampoo and bath gels in the bathroom, all clearly from a local supermarket. The tv did not work, the light fittings were (again) all different and my door was not easy to open. Breakfast was ok, mostly cold cheeses and hams, although the coffee was good and the croissants very tasty.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: On your approach to the Hotel Ambassade, you may wonder “What am I getting into?” However, once you get past the seedy environment, you will find a well-run and attractive small hotel. The hotel is located about halfway between the railway station and the city center. That makes it a longish walk either way, but it is not excessive. It is a long way from the hippodrome, and longer still from the American military cemetery. You approach from the street by passing rows of rental single-car garages. The hotel itself is an old (not historic) building across from a modern one-story structure that appears to be a light industrial firm. The interior is well maintained. The décor and furniture are not at all shabby. We noticed some tobacco smell in the hallways but none at all in our room. It appears that one person runs everything, from the front desk to the breakfast. He is an older gentleman given to wearing a long shirt, knee length trousers, and flip-flops. He clearly knows his job. He listens to your questions and explains carefully and fully. There is a tiny elevator: big enough for two people or one person with luggage. The rooms are about the normal size for a hotel. The fixtures all work fine. You will probably want to use your own toiletries, as the supplied items are a mixture of regular brands that you can find in the supermarket or pharmacy. One odd feature of our room was that the bathroom door was translucent glass. It provided enough privacy, but if you need to turn on the light your partner might be disturbed. Breakfast is continental. Don’t expect bacon and eggs. You will find cold meat, cheese, cereal, bread, rolls, croissants, fruit, and packaged waffles. Among the condiments is Biscoff (Speculoo) butter, which happens to be the most wonderful substance known to mankind. The clientele seems to be mostly business travelers. Many of the tables in the breakfast room were occupied by groups of men in matching polo shirts—clearly in
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice and cosy little hotel with all the things you need to have a one-night stay. Owner was realynice and made sure I had breakfast although I was leaving really early in the morning. City center and restaurants are very close.
Cons: The only thing not that good were the rooms that are quite noisy, so it depends a bit on other guests being quiet or not
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good and substantial
5.8 Okay
Pros: Staff
Cons: OLD style
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing!!!
Cons: This was possibly the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The only plus was the location was near to where we needed to be. The hotel I would rate as a 1* or 2* at best. The windows in the bedroom were smashed above the bed, ( good job it wasn't a windy night otherwise shards would have fallen onto the bed) the bath/shower was cracked and rusty around the tiles and it was so dirty overall. But, the worst of all was the smell of smoking in the room, on the corridor, in the reception and everywhere. The owner was completely dismissive of this , almost shrugging his shoulders saying he doesn't enforce the EU no-smoking policy in his hotel, because he smokes non-stop in his office, next to the breakfast room. He categorically said he would never go outside to smoke, as he would be forever outside while working! He had not one jot of interest that his guests would disapprove of the smell, let alone had asthma...again another shrug of the shoulders! In other words, hard luck! To be a hotelier with this attitude is a disgrace and no web-site should allow this property to be booked by unsuspecting guests. When we said we would report it he said, 'really?' He couldn't have cared less. The biggest waste of 103 euros! Would rather have slept on the street and given the money to a homeless charity.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have stayed at Anna's place while my son was having surgery in the nearby hospital (O.-L.-V.-van Lourdes Ziekenhuis Waregem). The hospital is withing 5 minutes walking distance which made is extremley convenient visiting my son at the hospital during visitation hours. The host, Fred, is a super friendly and accomadating person. I The breakfast was excellent, the room was clean and had everything I needed. I would highly recommend Anna's place to anyone staying at Waregum, especially, if their stay is related to the nearby hospital, O.-L.-V.-van Lourdes Ziekenhuis Waregem.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice price for the night we spend. For the money paid you cannot expect a very luxurious location, but it was more then sufficient and the hotel met our criteria. A good place when you need to spend the night in that region.
Cons: The accommodation is a bit dated, although the owners are renovating the place at this moment, so it will be again to modern standards. So for us personally there is not really a negative point to mention.
7.0 Good
Cons: there was a lot of noise from the traffic in the morning.
