9.6 Excellent
Pros: Cleanness and friendly staff
Cons: wifi condition was bad
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff at this hotel had the best English of any of the 3 hotels we stayed at in the Zhangjaejie area. It is the newest and the most western of the hotels in the area. They have a full bar menu which was a big deal to us. When you want a mixed cocktail, you can get it. The staff member who used the westerner name of Andy was especially helpful to us and made us really comfortable. Would highly recommend this hotel. It is next door to the older and highly recommended Pullman so there is no advantage of the Pullman's location. I would stay here over the Pullman in a heartbeat. It is a short walk to the entrance of the park
Cons: Nothing could be better.
7.1 Good
Pros: Best in Wulingyuan.. looks nice from outside
Cons: Not really 5 star quality. The staff is not well trained.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: - Very comfortable and quite room - Location close to the entrance of Wulingyuan Natural Park (Avatar Mountains) - 15 min walking or 5 min by Didi/Taxi - Supermarkets and local restaurants nearby - Good Swimming Pool, nice Gym and Sauna - Quite cheap lunch or dinner for a hotel restaurant (Has one Chinese and one Muslim Chinese Restaurant)
Cons: - Description says Continental breakfast, but you will have a buffet breakfast with 80% Chinese food and 20% Continental. No doubts you can have a good breakfast, but not 100% Continental, at all. - Reception Staff couldn't tell us any information about Zhangjiajie Natural Park besides where is the entrance of the Park, which is unacceptable for a 4 or 5 star hotel which is located closed to a very famous touristic point (Avatar Mountains). They couldn't give us any information about prices, bus routes inside the park, suggestions, etc...
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Its location is perfect! The staff is amazing! The hotel is new and really nice. It has a good selection of breakfast for western visitors too
Cons: Delux room is not comfortable with a kid
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Had an early appointment; did not eat.
Cons: See above
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location.
Cons: Concierge si absolutelly terrible. They don’t speak English and Conceirge is not related with hotel even they use email from hotel. I had a complain and manager from hotel told me that there is no problem of the hotel because it is third party! Also nobody speak English in the restaurant and at front desk. I wanted to order some food from room service but it was no possible because nobody understand English. Please don’t try restaurant if you want western food, because Australian steak was terrible too. You don’t have more choices to stay but try Pullman hotel.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. The people working there were the best part of the hotel. Nice public spaces. Clean and nice rooms. Of course THOSE spaces were quite cool!
Cons: The coolest room temperature they allow is 76 degrees. And the top floor room we had was hotter than that. It struggled to get down to 78. Extremely uncomfortable. We went through the hassle of having them change our room. Thankfully we were able to get a room that was 2 degrees cooler! Suggest staying here in the winter.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The property in general is great, good installations, very spacious and clean. At breakfast they had an omelette station!!! So thats always a PLUS for us westerns.
Cons: They claim to have non smoking floors and rooms but unfortunately the Chinese do not respect or follow any kind of instruction or law. So they smoke EVERYWHERE and even the non smoking floors smell like cigarettes.
6.3 Good
Pros: Close to park entrance (15 min walking). Good breakfast.
Cons: Expensive hotel for the services they offer, not comparable to other Crowne Plaza. They gave us a room with very small windows. Very poor custom service delivered by staff: -Their English is very bad -The person in charge of tourism desk cannot talk in English, doesn't know where bus station is and is not capable of offering good advice about how to visit the Glass Bridge. - Their machine to pay with credit card was not working on first day, they took all my chash as guarantee. The day after I could pay by card and they did not apologize, just laughing. -They did not reply my mail asking about transportation to airport.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Destination Youth Hostel in Zhangjiajie (Wulingyuan), you'll be 30.2 mi (48.5 km) from Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and 6.5 mi (10.4 km) from Wulingyuan Scenic Reserve. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
6.7 Good
Pros: The location was great, a short walk from the entrance to the scenic area, and convenient for the bus station too. The room was a good size, with lots of space for luggage etc. The front desk staff spoke good English, and had useful information about the park, walking routes etc...although wasn't very forthcoming with the information!
Cons: It wasn't really clean. There was a blood spot on top of the duvet, and the bathroom wasn't very clean (mirror was particularly dirty with make-up marks etc all over). There were quite a few mosquitos in the room too - probably because the door to the balcony was left open all day before we arrived. The bed was really hard - it actually had a wooden board on top of the mattress with only a thin mattress topper on top.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Amazing value for low price.
Cons: Nothing in particular.
7.1 Good
Pros: The location is extremely good, within walking distance of the east gate.
Cons: The windows didn’t close well and there was a wasp nest in it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was really comfortable! It had comfortable beds, which is really rare in China
Cons: Everything was perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super helpful staff Cozy room with balcony Washing machine available Best location to visit the park, the dragon caves, the lake or gran canyon.
Cons: The kitchen is ok but could be better. I cannot complain though, usually hostels in China don't have Kitchen facilities. Wulingyuan (where the hostel is placed) seems to be just a place for Zhangiajie park accomodation, not a real village/city.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Decoration an location are ok
Cons: Floor was clean, al the other things are more or less dirty. The airco was spraing fluid.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location, price and good English from the staff
Cons: The mattress were humid, but it was not hotel fault. The mountain is too humid. So it’s quite normal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was nice, clean and cozy. I immediately felt at home! I really loved the hotel-standard shower. The receptionists were very helpful and forthcoming. The quarter the hostel is located in, is also very charming. Highly recommended!
Cons: No real complaints. The tourist map was a bit confusing, but that might just be me XD
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staffs. Location is closed to the entrance. Lively surroundings, there are many choices of food within walking distance. Comfortable beds and pillows.
Cons: Stair
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent, just few minutes walking to the National Park. The prices of water bottles, beer, etc were pretty good for the area. I bought the National Park ticket in the hostel at the same price without having to wait for a queue. They gave me a map and a a recommended route for the two days I visited.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Geographic position is good, the environment is very good, very convenient to go out to play, the room is very spacious, decorate concise and easy, health clean and tidy, quite good
7.9 Good
Pros: The curtains were very good at blocking light and the location was very close to park entrance
Cons: Our bathroom looked nothing like the pictures. Our knees almost touch the wall when sitting down on the toilet and we need to step over the toilet to use the sink.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The front desk worker was very helpful in giving directions on what to see and do. She spoke Very good English. She is there only early in the morning until early evening.
Cons: Food and coffee was not so good at the recommended eateries. If u need coffee, look for the coffee shops toward the entrance of the National Park. There are several coffee shops on the way there.
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff was very helpful in giving instructions on how to reach the hostel and how to visit the forest park. Plus the hostel is very close to the entrance of the park.
Cons: I didn't like finding ants in the room at the moment of check-in. Plus the bed was super hard, we find it difficult to sleep on it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Walkway to the Wulingyuan park entrance is less than 5 min. Lots of Restaurants arround. We got a free map of the park and a very good explanation of what is possible in which time by the receptionist who spoke very well english. (at least one of the two girls we had as receptionist) The receptionist even booked us tickets for Tianmen National Park so we could skip the line waiting to get a ticket. Laundry was possible for just 10 Yuan with lot of hangig space. On the terrace you could see the mountains and hence check the weather/ view very well. The room was clean and each day the garbage bins were emptied and we got new toilet paper. AC was working great.
Cons: There are 5 floors - hence, you should not mind stairs.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything was fine except the booking for the entry Tickets to zhanjiajie scenic area.
Cons: They told us they can buy the entrance Ticket to the scenic area and give them to us at 7am . When we came to the reception at 7am they still didn't have them and said we had to wait until 8-8:30 am.
6.7 Good
Pros: Very close to the park entrance. Pretty quiet location
Cons: The staff spoke no English at all and gave bad tips about the park. We went to a different hostel to get better advice. We change two rooms during our stay, both had problem with the draining bit couldn't be bothered to change again
8.2 Excellent
Pros: First let me say, this place gives a courtesy email on how you can get to the hostel from airport which was amazing! Taxi, bus, or they pick you up for 150 RMB. It's about 45 mins from the airport. Warning taxi drivers will bombard you like bees around a hive immediately when you step pass security. I negotiated 100 RMB to get there ( they won't take anything lowers that 100 RMB). My advice while staying anywhere in Zhangjiajie is to have everything written in mandarin. They don't understand English or pinyin. Booking.com has a great feature for giving the address in local language. Also airport staff do not care to help you. I originally was trying to take the buss for 12 RMB but they only pointed where he bus station was but wouldn't help pass that! Grr... About facility. - Their is one staff that speaks English very well and she is so helpful on anything and everything. The facility is behind a building so it's so hard to find unless you know where to look, this is why I'm happy the taxi driver took me. The rooms were clean, had a nice cabin feel to them, and they are also updated. They provide a wash rack to hang clothes, which is very convient! Bathrooms are interesting, but that's just Chinese culture for you. (Shower is 4 inches from toilet, so everything gets wet when you shower) Yes it is a sitting toilet and not a squat toilet. They have a little flat screen tv which every station is in mandarin. Wifi- first night I was upstairs on the 3rd floor and took so long to load anything. It basically didn't work. Then 2nd night same room and it worked. 3rd night bottom floor worked fine. 4th night same bottom floor it was slow again. However the lobby worked fine the entire time!
Cons: They are doing construction to the building next door and was constantly woken up by hammering, saw blades, and construction noise at 7 am. This will probably go on for another 3 ish months. I didn't mind the first night because it beat my alarm clock and I just went hiking. BUT: after 2 days of completely exerting myself that was a nuisance because I just wanted to sleep in. It's out of the hostels control, but honestly I would book their again. You shouldn't be sleeping in late anyways because the lines in the mountain will be so long it will ruin your stay. Advice get up and leave when construction starts and you will have a better time hiking. The good thing is construction stops at like 5 pm so you can go to bed early to get up early!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Come here to play with friends, enjoy the scenery here, the room is equipped with complete facilities, clean elegant hotel environment, high cost performance, is worth to recommend
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location right next to entrance Balcony was great Good value for money
Cons: Could be cleaner. Shower in middle of bathroom, no curtain.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Than imagination is good, very good geographical location, transportation is convenient, the room is very comfortable to stay in, is very big, clean, quiet, facility is complete, sound insulation is very good, friendly service attitude. Attitude is very good, praise.

5.8 Okay
Pros: Very central, close to National Park.
Cons: Lacked atmosphere, staff not unfriendly. Bed uncomfortable, weird decor. Other rooms looked better, not sure why we got the one we did, as they seemed to have plenty of rooms. They asked how much we paid, perhaps other rooms were more expensive. Our room advertised as having a garden view, it overlooked a terrace used for drying clothes, not exactly scenic, also no privacy.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very helpful. We managed to get the airport shuttle arranged to pick us up at odd hours. He reviewed the hiking plans with us and recommended the routes to take. He also helped booked tickets for attractions at a discount. We managed to get help to buy a birthday cake too. The owner went out of his way to take photos and send them to us for selection. It is a short walk to the forest park entrance. Will stay at April Hostel again if we pass by Wulingyuan next time.
7.7 Good
Pros: The bathroom at least on the third floor that we were staying was really clean and didn't smell like sewer like in other hostels/inns that we have been staying. The staff was very helpful, they gave you recommendations on how to spend your day at the park. Just don't go on the month of June, cause it is the rainy season, unless you don't mind the non-stop rain and getting wet....
Cons: Every single building in that street is being currently remodeled, so it was hard to walk back and forth to the hotel, avoiding rocks, piles of construction materials, etc...
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hostel situates in a beautiful alley just 5 minutes walking from Wulianyuan entrance (nearest entrance to Tianzi mountain), 10 min walking from W bus station, with many restaurant, convenience store around. The facilities in the room are beyond expectation, especially compared to its price. The owners speak very little English, but their map of ZJJ National Forest Park is quite useful.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing staff. The most helpful and nicest owners. Very good location in a little back street with good restaurants around and a short walk to the park entrance. You will get great tips for the sights around and a very useful map. Great place to stay!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Speedy email response regarding airport tranfer. Driver was there earlier than expected! There were also taxis around outside the airport at midnight. Room was super spacious and well heated in winter. Heated shower was wonderful too! Owner was helpful and informative regarding the sights and local buses. He also walked us near the park entrance so that we wouldn't get lost!
Cons: Not much to do around the area except to go to the park. More lively nearer the bus terminal, which is a few stops by local bus.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a great experience all round. We booked in the off peak season so there was only one other guest so please take that into account as it may differ a little if you stay in the busy period. The family that owned the place were very friendly and helpful, recommending places to eat, helping to plan our trips into the park and the surrounding area even dropping us of at the bus station. We did get a free upgrade to the best room (due to it being quiet) so we got to enjoy a bigger and nicer room than expected. The rooms and common areas were clean and in good repair. So overall I would recommend staying here :) we had a great time
Cons: We did have a small problem with the toilet (western style) it flushed once then wouldn't refill, we were told by the staff later that there was work being done on the towns water system and that it would be back on in a few hours.
7.1 Good
Pros: Close to the national park
Cons: The staff of the hostel spoke only a few words of english, so it was hard to communicate
10.0 Excellent
Pros: - Superb location just by the Wulingyuan National Park entrance. - Friendly staff, also spoke some English and were able to book tickets for the Glass Bridge
