With a stay at Yudaki-no-yado Nishiya in Yonezawa, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Shirabu Onsen and Onogawa Onsen. This hotel is 10.5 mi (17 km) from Kasugasan Rinsenji Temple and 10.7 mi (17.2 km) from Yonezawa Uesugi Museum.
Pros: Onsens were lovely. Food was very good. The staff were really helpful with arranging our day skiing. A highlight of our trip!
Pros: Great Location!
Cons: It was cold in the building...but that's ok too.
Pros: Onsen is excellent. Meal is good. Just next to the bus station. Cats are so cutie.
Pros: Everything was beyond amazing! The staff welcomed us to Yamagata and made sure we experienced the best of what the prefecture and local area has to offer. I've stayed at many ryokans, and the meals here were the best I've had. Absolutely outstanding. I was initially a little worried about the onsen, as there were not many pictures. My worries were quickly put to rest. Everything about the onsen here is incredible. It is extremely rustic with gorgeous wooden panels and black acetate. While perhaps smaller than some ryokans, the layout is perfect and extremely comforting. Sitting in one of the three baths (one of them is very hot, use the hose with cold water and mix before entering) and watching the waterfall was a moment that transcended time. I was able to completely relax and 'soak' in my surroundings. I would highly recommend this ryokan to anyone that wants to experience the authentic Japan. Traveling here was much easier than expected as well. It is about 2 hours from Tokyo by shinkansen (bullet train) to Yonezawa station in Yamagata. From Yonezawa station, simply board the bus and get out at Shirabu Onsen station (about 40 minutes). Nishiya is located right there! Additionally, and perhaps the best part about this offer on Booking.com, is that Nishiya is a member of the coveted 'hitou' association of secret mountainous hot spring ryokans. Only the top ryokans in Japan are eligible to become a part of this association, including Tsuru no Yu in Akita. Being that Nishiya is in the same category as these other ryokans that are incredibly difficult to make reservations to, has a 100 year history, and is one of the few with a thatched roof, this is truly a rare opportunity to experience one of the best ryokans in Japan. Another fun quirk about this ryokan is that they have 3 cats that hang out around the lobby during the daytime that you can pet and take some photos with.

Pros: I stayed there for 3 nights. The room was very comfortable and had all the required amenities. Excellent breakfast was served everyday and was exceptionally good. There were a lot of options available.
Cons: The hotel had a big bathing/relaxing area but only for males. There is just one elevator available, which was almost always busy and slow. There are no stairs apart from the elevator, so everyone had to wait a long time.
Pros: Great location near the station. Amazing breakfast for the price. Quiet, convenient. Near large supermarket.
Cons: Lots of time waiting for elevator. No onsen for women.
Cons: Room too small
Pros: value for money and location with men's large onsen hot bath facility, free of charge
Pros: The breakfast is good. Location is good as well as just next to Aeon mall.
Pros: The morning buffet breakfast is quite nice, the menu rotates but the staple things stay on each day. The room is a bit small but the bed is roomy and the tv is quite large. There were enough electrical plugs for my phone, laptop and anything otherwise. The tv theater was free so I got to enjoy watching a new film while I was there. The wifi was also not too bad.
Cons: There is only one elevator, so if you are in a rush anywhere you better make sure you can wait. The coin laundry is fine, but they do have a dryer which can be uncommon in Japan.
Pros: Thank you
Pros: All was good, may be some fruits and vegetarian food when some specially asks on the prior day before breakfast, should be helped.
Cons: No vegetarian food during breakfast.
Pros: Comfortable beds. Very clean. Great Japanese breakfast.
Cons: Coffee was cold out of the vending machine. No female onsen.

Pros: The staff was excellent, kind and remembered us, the breakfast was amazing and for what we paid were we’re happy with our stay.
Cons: It is a smoking hotel, so the place and rooms smell like an ash tray. We knew that going in though. My only true dislike was the bed. It was literally like sleeping on a concrete floor. If the bed was a little more comfortable I would have no complaints.
Pros: Good location.
Cons: One of the smallest breakfasts I ever got included in the price.
