There were approx 20 in line yet only 2 gate agents at 4:30pm. One of the gate agents kept helping the Premium members and bypassing the standard line. The other agent was in a coma as his average person at counter was 10 min. Finally get to counter and they hand me a boarding pass going via Salt Lake in 30 minutes. But has a 3 hrs layover in SL. I then get to US Custom check for US residents re-entering and the line was a good 30 minute wait. You would think the Delta folks would have accounted for that line. I had to ask everyone in front of them if I could skip in front as the plane was now departing in 10 min. I had to then run on a bum knee and was the last to board. The agent at gate was saying we were calling your name but did they think I could have been stuck in customs? On that short of a window they should have walked me through Customs to make sure I got on a flight they wanted me to take versus my scheduled flight."

Less short story, 4 airlines, 3 security screenings and 2 customs stop points.7 delays, 2 cancels and 1 miss. It was a ping pong nightmare and 2 times it was suggested i take a bus...after i spent the money on a plane ticket with no offer of compensation, food vouchers or hotel accommodation. Delta has to convince me to come back to them."

Ground crew airport check in at the Delta counter and at the Boarding gate was helpful and efficient. However request for Special Assistance in Toronto was poorly handled. We did not accept the conditions offered to us as one wheel chair operator had to push 3 passengers and I had to wait for him to return to me after two people were brought to their gates. My Husband had to wheel me in to my gate."

"As with the outbound flight, this return flight was not full - maybe 40-50%. As they started boarding they announced they located a few people the help with 'load a balance' of the aircraft. What they had done was to compress all passengers in the middle of the plane leaving no space between anyone. It is difficult to understand why everyone is required to wear Masks, then relocated to remove all space between passengers, when there was ample room to allow everyone to be seated with space between."

The weather has a huge impact on your flight because if there is any wind you will get tossed around and the landing in Lethbridge is more of a roller coaster ride. Let me sum it up like this....if your not good with REALLY loud noise, or claustrophobic, or have any motion sickness issues.....rent a car and drive!!!"

Pros: "My first trip started on a poor note; I got to airport about an hour before boarding, only to find out that my flight was rescheduled from 9:30am to about 6:15pm ( or so) on that same day without prior notice. I went up to the counter and asked for confirmation for the switch and inquire if there was an issue, which may have affected my original flight. Turned out that the change was due to weather conditions at Toronto (makes sense). I had suggested that it would have been nice to receive some sort of notification, before starting that day way too early and inconvenience of going to pickup my car from the airport parking, only to come back again. The attendant sympathized with my plight and compensated me with a lunch voucher (which was nice of him and WestJet). Matter was resolved; I came back to catch my flight and the trip was wonderful :)"

Cons: "1 lady wanted off the flight during deicing because she thought she would miss her connection. We technically were in flight as we had crosschecked and cleared the gate. Westjet decided they would let her off and delay the whole plane another hour and cause several people including us to miss our connection. Westjet support staff were not very helpful and a supervisor told me that they was out of their control. Wr did get a hotel but our flight was not until the next day. They put us on a 5 hour flight with a connection for a 25 min flight. The lady who wanted off was just a spoiled, she was sitting directly in front of me. So, if you ever just want to get off a plane just ask. Westjet will screw a whole plane for you."

Cons: "On an 8 hour flight there’s no complimentary meal. I paid for a meal and it was worse than free plane food and starved for the rest of the trip. The chairs were horribly uncomfortable with no lower back support and we were not even given pillows and blankets. There was also no free entertainment. I rented a tablet and had it taken away an hour before landing while I was in the middle of a movie. I might have been ok with that if the flight attendant had politely asked for it back rather than rudely waving and pointing while I stared at her blankly trying to figure out what she wanted. Next time I’ll pay a bit more for an airline that respects its passengers and our comfort."

Cons: "We were heckled by gate crew about whether my dog’s carrier was too small for him. Many suggestions were made that we were subjecting him to animal cruelty, and that we were abusive to him. He’s 7lbs, so he can’t be much smaller a dog, and his carrier it turns out, doesn’t fit under WestJet seats, despite being within carry-on luggage dimension limits (their life jackets take up most of the legroom), and thus could not be any bigger. Did they want me to have a smaller dog, or a Euclidean space-defying carrier? I suppose they were suggesting that taking a dog aboard WestJet is abusive, because they certainly don’t provide adequate space for anything larger than a hamster, they hassle you about it, and they charge you $50 for the fun of it. One agent had the nerve to reach into his carrier without permission, unannounced, and invade his personal space, him being a rescue and very anxious."

Pros: "Before taking this flight, I was very nervous because of all the bad reviews on here and other sites. The only good reviews seemed to be by people from Alberta (not really trustworthy, as they seem to support anything that's from Alberta, and note that Westjet is based in Alberta...). But I was blown away by how organized Westjet was and how nice they were. All the flights were on time (I had a few layovers), the staff was helpful....I really have no complaints. Sure, they don't have a plethora of great in-flight entertainment such as movies, etc. But when I fly, I'd rather pay less, have the staff be nice/organized, and just bring a darn book to entertain me. It was a great first flight with this company. I would fly with them again....and I can't remember the last time I said that about any other airline. So do yourself a favor: Don't listen to the bad reviews on here (unless you're obsessed with in-flight entertainment and big-butt first class seats)."

Pros: "I liked what my dog liked. She always came out of her hard big kennel wagging her tail. She is small. Her hard kennel is like a hotel room. Iced water. Iced peanut butter. Soft daily blanket to sleep on. The kennel is strapped shut. WJ. Brings me a tag that shows me my dog is on board. I love flying Weat Jet with my dog. Be sure your dog is in a hard covered kennel with lots of room to stretch. Make sure it's strapped solidly shut. Weat Jet gives you plastic straps to do that. DO IT. Don't be lazy about it. Your dog depends on you to make it safe."

Then worst luck, machine I went was out of tag paper so, went to the line again and other side of lady said I don't have the system for bag who have tag on it so she sent us to the other side that girl(same) again said I can take only one with already tag on it You will have to go to the center lane girl (third) now that girl said boarding is already started you might not get you baggage in this flight you will have to wait 2 hours. Like we had our classes as soon as we were reaching yvr. They wasted almost half an hour by sending us back and forth at yyc. I don't understand the fact that how a baggage with tag printed by the employees will be on same flight and baggage with the tag printed by us will be on next flight although we gave both bags at the same time. How stupid is this? I hope not to face this problem again in future."

Cons: "They would not allow me to gate check my guitar. Insisted on sending it as oversize/fragile baggage and assured me that it would be carefully handled and loaded up through an elevator to a special pickup place. I did NOT like the prospect of dashing from one place to another to retrieve both my suitcase and my guitar. (I am a working musician). Upon arrival, I was advised to go to an elevator on the south side of the building, and attendants would help me. No attendants, nothing. Went to an information booth, and they said "oh no, you need to go to the special American Airlines luggage office [at the far other end of the building] and they will have it." Ran down there....nope, no guitar. They said "oh no, you need to go to this elevator on the north side at the other end of the building." Tore down there....no guitar, nothing. Got the attention of an attendant who said he would ride the elevator down and look for it. I was beyond frustrated and worried. Just then, another attendant called out "oh, a guitar just came out on the carousel!" Yes, the regular luggage carousel, which meant that it had been thrown onto a cart and bounced across the tarmac and tossed onto the conveyor belt like a suitcase, which is EXACTLY WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT DO. It managed to survive, but I cringe at the thought of flying with them again."

So I was also pleasantly surprised by the friendly flight attendant on this flight, who smiled and was solicitous. This was an exception to your usual AA flight attendant and it must ackowledged."

Not airlines fault and likely result of holiday backlog Retrieving baggage from plane was biggest issue - use a carry on to but was required to valet bag as opposed to storing overhead. Baggage unloading was late (again, holiday backlog) but no personnel were available to inform passengers of delay, and bags were not in initial cart. Resulted a delay of offloading by roughly 20 minutes. Was ultimately found in the second wave of luggage, and witnessed baggage handlers tossing luggage carelessly onto cart floor. Nothing was damaged but was annoyed at lack of communication and overall disorganization."

Cons: "I never got on that flight because the flight from Montreal to Toronto was delayed so I would have missed the connection. The flight from Montreal was late. I showed up a the airport three times before I got on a plane. Air Canada asked me to check in online but the system didn't work. Because of the storm, Air Canada couldn't even place me on hold so I had to go to the airport earlier in the day. When I complained about not being able to check in online, they asked gaslighted me and kept repeating that their system was "a great product" and that there was no way it didn't work. One person finally told me that it was because I had a pet in cabin. I could have saved a lot of frustration if someone had told me that. I also think that for a flight that left late and caused me to change plans and leave on a different day with another delayed flight because of the luggage conveyor belt that didn't work - which paralyzed an entire airport - they could have offered us a complimentary meal on the plane."

It is so annoyingly dishonest, considering that the flight is announced as on-time up until minutes before the departure time. When all along they know the incoming flight is late. After we boarded the plane at origin, we spent 15 minutes at the gate and quite a bit on the runway. When nearing the DCA, the plane took a complete detour went near Baltimore and then Annapolis and then flew back to near Gaithersburg as if it was intentionally wasting time on the air. Upon landing in DCA we had to wait 15 minutes on the taxiway waiting for the gate to clear. The (one hour long) flight that was scheduled to land at 10:20pm landed just before midnight. Air Canada is awful. This happens every time I fly with Air Canada and their conduct is just cheap and dishonest."
Pros: "Knowing that there is not enough head-room for carry-on luggage, I joined to volunteer to check-in my carry-on luggage. Service agent at the counter is very helpful and great service attitude. I asked if they have plastic twistee so I can lock my carry-on luggage before check it in. Unlucky there is none. I hope Air Canada can consider providing this ( I got from Cathy pacific before at check-in luggage counter) since they may help re-assure traveler like me who don't prepare a lock for the hand carry suitcase."

It cost quite a bit in the "Auction" but it was worth it I think."

They gave me a fork to eat it after they bumped into me and spilled the hot liquid on my sleeve and slacks. Then when I went to eat it I realized that the noodles were not cooked through. they were rubbery. the liquid was tasty, but with a fork how much can you taste. Ended up giving it back after eating about 1/4 of it. Seats had no leg room even though was a larger plane. Had restless leg from the very beginning. Legs were in pain the whole time."

Cons: "No information or communication about bringing your own food or snacks on board. No food, snacks,entertainment or immigration forms were available. There was some food for purchase but if you didn't have a credit or debit card then you couldn't buy it. My mother was in a wheelchair waiting to board in Toronto and would have bought food to either eat there or carry on the plane but another passenger was severely reprimanded for getting out of her wheelchair and going to the bathroom, so my mother was intimidated to stay seated and not go to the bathroom nor ask any questions as to if she could go and buy some food or snack to eat while she was waiting. Only juices were served. She was flying since 11 am and arrived at 9:30 pm without any food. The website as well as all emails should inform about luggage weight as well as food and entertainment. On a layover the attendants should be more cooperative with disabled passengers and allow them to use the bathroom as well as to go and buy food."

Air Canada's abillity to transit passengers from the US to international destinations is truly remarkable and must be best in class. I went from an inbound flight from Houston, through Immigration and to the gate for my flight to London in under 15 minutes!"

I then told her that I had let her know that was my plan, but she denied it, then told my wife she was just one of a hundred people. This left my wife in tears. This was a stain on an otherwise good flying experience, but it' tarnished the whole."

Pros: "This was my first time in Canada never been there before I had a great time until that one moment I had to deal with workers from air Canada except one agent at the ticketing desk....I had checked in online the day before however I had some card issues because they got shut down by my bank and due to the holiday in America I was unable to call my Bank prior to the airport....got to the airport and tried to explain that all I wanted to do was pay for my bag with cash ...but no one took the time out to listen each time i tried explaining myself I was send to a different location to join another line ....by the time I got to someone who was willing to listen my flight was closed ..her name was Aurora and gave me nothing but attitude when I explained my story......anyways finally got to ticketing and a met the only agent that day who exercise some level of customer service that day...if only I could remember her name ...sigh she went the extra mile because at this point I was frustrated and unsure if I would make it out of the country a sane person due to the amount of chaos I experienced prior. She got LISTENED .....SHE TOOK THE TIME TO LISTEN...got me on a new flight and went above an beyond to assist me that morning I was on the verge of a breakdown at that point all other staff member was very disgusting not only to my self but the other individuals who had mishaps that morning."

The only thing I didn't do was put my luggage on the plane and when I did get it, the luggage was damaged. My luggage went from Kingston - Toronto - Barbados, back to Toronto with nothing wrong with the luggage. They cancelled the last flight to Kingston,so they put us in a hotel. But from Toronto back to Kingston was hell when we got to Kingston."

This left us stranded at Pearson at 3am with no Air Canada agents available for assistance. After a two hour wait on hold with Air Canada customer service, we were told the earliest flight we could get on was two days later. Unacceptable. We ended up having to buy tickets with WestJet. Weather delays are understandable. Not having sufficient customer service agents available for assistance nor having enough crew on call is inexcusable and incompetent."

We had long layover on return flight in Toronto and airport and Air Canada personnel were not very helpful or accommodating. When we asked for a suggestion on where we could go in the airport to kill several hours (eating, drinking, watching TV), were were told by many that the airport is bad and we're given conflicting or poor answers. Intimately the advice given put us having to go thru security and Custims again (even though we already had) and that process was extremely disorganized and time consuming."

Cons: "I was held aside at the customs area and had a difficult time figuring out what was going on. Signage was less than helpful, and staff were unaware of why I was being held. After over 30 minutes during which the gate staff could only tell me to wait and watch for my initials on the electronic board, the staff learned that some bags on my arrival flight had been accidentally diverted to Canadian customs rather than US customs, and passengers could not proceed to connecting flights until our bags were located. The customer service staff then worked very hard on our problem. I was instructed to re-book my flight, since by now the doors were about to close - but that customer service person could not re-book me, and I had to queue up again for another agent. When I got to the desk, that agent was able to get me approved to board my flight sans bag, ran me to the front of the Immigration line, and got me to my gate in time to board. I deeply appreciate her assistance, as my family was already on the plane."

It had the origin and destination mixed up but had the correct cities. That's impossible with the corresponding flight #'s. Called AC, they said; oh well. Then multiple notices in email of changes to times of depart/arrival/gates. Showing these email changes to A/ C Gate Staff, they said each of those 8 notices for departures or return flights was wrong info and they concluded; "oh well". They don't care, and they weren't interested in reporting the errors to IT people."

Cons: "Toronto Terminal F is kind of how I envision a third-world country. At least at the higher-number gates, it's very dreary, with an occasional flying insect and signs hanging from the ceiling. Worse is the lack of air conditioning and the sporadic wi-fi service. Worst of all was the almost two-hour delay and changing our departure gate at least five times. Two fellow passengers (one a native of Toronto) said it was always like that. The trip from Toronto to London and back was fine, but I'll try very hard to avoid Air Canada and its Terminal F."
Cons: "Our inbound flight was two hours late. When connecting through Toronto, they lied to us. They said that the outbound connection was on time, that we'd likely missed it. Then, after standing through their requisite customer service line with only one open desk for two full flights, we were told to sprint through customs. We arrived, breathless to find the connection was delayed. We were told that they don't post the delayed connections for fear that passengers won't run or that U.S. customs will close. Uncommunicative and untruthful, their service is atrocious."

My original flight was delayed 5 hours to connect so I was transferred to another flight and my bags didn't make it so I went 4 days without luggage also"

I have been a nurse for 24 years and i simply asked for a cool cloth for a gentleman sitting next to me that was feeling ill and very pale. India returned with 5 emesis bags and no cloth and never once came back to check on the gentleman!!! I really wish it was not a full flight because i would have advised him to puke all over everything. How hard was it to provide a cool cloth?? Really? I know first class has wash cloths and that was an easy request. And the fact that she never came back to see if we needed anything or to tell us she did not have a cloth for him. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I will think twice about flying Air Canada again. Thank god for good citizeans willing to help strangers in a time of need."

No one, at anyplace along the line actually apologized for asking us to wait around for 8+ hours when the flight was delayed. We did not even know what the mechanical problem was. When we finally were able to board the flight, the captain made a personal appearance in front of the cabin to tell us that he and his crew had been called at home to fly a broken plane. He briefly explained that there were no available planes to swap out and the repair required all day. Inexcusable! Our treatment did not measure up to the Canadian tradition of courtesy and politeness."

And the small cup of soda we get takes over an hour for some people to get. The seats are entirely too close. I'm 5'9 and my knees were digging into the seat in front of me. Then the guy in front of me reclined and I had absolutely no room. I had to turn to the side. We didn't board until around the time we were supposed to depart. We were over a hour behind schedule. They held the plane to get a passenger's bag off because he was stuck in customs. Unless it's a funeral I need to get to, I'm not flying Air Canada again."

Cons: "They changed our gate three times and boarding was inefficient (it took them almost an hour to load a small plane) and led to a late takeoff. The customs process was ridiculous. Crew did not seem to care. No food was provided on a 6 hour flight that boarded at 6pm. Most people would not have thought that they needed to eat dinner before the flight. You had the option of purchasing snacks. The people in the rear of the plan did not receive the honor of buying snacks (or even getting a cup of water) until 3 or 4 hours into the flight. Uncomfortable seats. Avoid Air Canada until they get their act together or they lower their prices to reflect their new status as a discount airline."

When I checked bag, I got a standby with hope that I could get on flight. Fortunately, I was able to make it. If I had connecting flights, it would have been a nightmare Same boring old movies and TV - 2 broke girls episodes. Just drink, nothing else for morning flight. Something to eat? It is an international (Can-US) flight Slow unloading of luggage"

Cons: "Plane was 50 minutes late leaving Toronto, luggage took between 30 to 40 minutes to come out at Vancouver airport. Three flights were assigned to one carousel, while a nearby carousel had only one flight assigned to it and was not yet in use, presumably because the flight had not arrived and another nearby carousel was broken. Why not have at least one other flight use the unused, working carousel?"
Cons: "The fight itself was fine. Not great. Not terrible. But the airline lost my son's suitcase and has been entirely unhelpful ever since then. Now we have been stuck in a foreign country without clothes and toiletries for 36 hours and Air Canada's "helpline" has been anything but helpful. They can not find any information on the location of the suitcase and hope that they will find it in another 48 hours. Rediculous!! I will never fly them again and suggest that you save your money, effort and vacation by flying with another airline."

Cons: "The crew was very pleasant and helpful. However it was unexpected that no food would be provided on a 5 hour flight. If not a small meal then a snack was expected. The crew did provide water consistently which was very nice. My personal entertainment screen was very unresponsive and then the head phone jack wasn't working for sound, I had to hold it at a certain angle to hear bits of sound. Since the head phone jack was located at my thigh it was very uncomfortable and when I shifted I broke my headphones :("
Pros: "I had upgraded to economy plus for my trip from Toronto and asked for an aisle seat. The plane was full so I was asked to wait till I was called. When they called me back they gave me a free upgrade to first class. I am a gold status United passenger so that may have had something to do with it but I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The crew was wonderful, the food was excellent and the entertainment was terrific. I totally appreciated the ability to sleep over the 13 hour trip in the bed provided. I have not had such a lovely experience in many years. I thank Air Canada for their generosity and kindness to me. Sincerely, Doryth Deisley"
Cons: "Ok so snow got the flight cancelled fine that's not anyone's fault. But air Canada people are so terrible at making the while situation any better. There is absolutely no communication with each other. So when I arrived I was given a hotel room. But after waiting over half hour for my shuttle bus I called the hotel to discover that they do not do shuttle buses to the airport and they don't have rooms for air Canada passenger so I never got a room that I was apparently supposed to have. And then I was booked for an earlier flight only to learn that it was full and I need to go on a later flight. On top of that again it's not anyone fault but you do not to give me constant attitude as if I'm bothering you. How about a sorry for the inconvenience sir, how can I help you. Instead of saying a blatant no and arguing with me how about I understand your upset and I won't be able to book you on this flight but I can do this. Do you train peopled to say NO? It was a crappie situation and nobody had any sympathy for us. It could easily have been way better experience if your employees simply smiled and listened to us instead of argue and belittle me."

Cons: "Showed up to hear that my flight was delayed for 5 hours. I was offered a credit with my boarding pass, but couldn't use it to buy a beer (which I think I was entitled to after learning about the delay) or anything from the convenience store. So basically my scheduled arrival time of 4pm ended up being 2am. Good thing I got to use my non-refundable hotel for a whopping 3 hours... After being told that this is apparently the normal experience for Air Canada, I don't see myself booking again anytime soon."
Cons: "We were issued boarding passes with unassigned seats for myself and my husband even though we checked in 23 hrs before flight. Instead got GTE ~ we were told by agent at baggage drop that the flight was oversold and this means we're on standby so we have to go wait by the gate because he didn't know if we would get on the plane. So we stood for 2 hrs at the front of a line with 38 other standby passengers only to be told 10 mins before boarding, when someone FINALLY showed up, that we should go sit down, they're going to call by last names and to not worry because everyone has a seat!!! Utter shambles! Couldn't someone come out and tell us this earlier??!! Rude, uncourteous, unapologetic staff. Common courtesy would see people standing in line and deal with them first! One passenger was told she should have booked earlier although she bought at the same time as us - 3 months ago! Another couple 1 week ago and another since June. So the reason given that the tickets were bought late is untrue! We asked an agent why Air Canada would oversell tickets and was told it was business! Told him this was very dishonest of Air Canada, only to get back a very rude and frankly surprising answer- "I'm sure you do dishonest things at your work too!!" Not one Air Canada employee in this whole process took the time out to treat us like paying customers, or bothered to realise we have lives to get back to. My husband works for Parliament and had to be at work the next morning and this undue stress thinking that he wouldn't get to work caused him to experience a migraine of which he is a sufferer. I have flown countless times on various air lines and have never been treated like this before. After this experience I'm seriously considering this to be the last time I ever fly with Air Canada and will definitely be sharing my experience with colleagues, friends and family. I asked for my original seat back but was told by the gate agent that it was taken, for unknown reasons. It turned out, 16C remained empty for the entire flight. Flight crew said they did not know why the seat assignment change. I suspect it was done so that the passenger in seat 16D would have the row to herself. I would be very hesitant to fly United again after this treatment."

Cons: "I don't fully understand why, but I was unable to get my boarding pass for my flight to Chicago from Toronto until I arrived in the Toronto airport. Toronto airport sequesters off international arrivals, so in an ideal world, I would have been able to go through security directly to into the U.S. terminal, bypassing Canada customs. However, the United desk that I needed to get my boarding pass from located just before security was unmanned. The very kind Air Canada attendant called for a representative multiple times, but after 45 minutes of waiting no one ever arrived to print my boarding pass for me. The Air Canada employee then gave up on any United staff showing up and suggested I try going through Canadian customs and checking in at the same departure desk travelers first entering the airport would go through and make sure to let them know how long I was waiting. The United employee I spoke with told me that I was impatient and should have continued waiting because now she didn't know what would happen with my checked bag and that I may well need to wait 2 hours more for that to get sorted out. I was rather surprised by her overly negative response and apparent threat. If I was irate or yelling that might have been warranted, but frankly, I was so tired from the international travel I didn't have the energy to fight with her. Regardless, I wish I had been more impatient, it was far easier to go through customs twice than I expected. I would have preferred to spend more time in the lounge inside the terminal than to stand by the United desk waiting for someone to arrive to print my boarding pass. At any rate, Canadian+US customs have it together; when I went through U.S. customs to get into the terminal they had the photo of my checked bag right there."

I had no option to select seats, and when we boarded I was seated on the last row by the galley with no reclining seats and the florescent lights were on nearly the whole time on a 10 hour overnight flight. There are no seat back TVs and the free streaming service went down repeatedly just like the AC outlet at our seats (there are only two of these for three people). I booked this trip nearly a year in advance, and I am extremely disappointed that I wasn't informed that I was flying a budget airline on a 10 hour flight."
