Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Exept food everything was awesome"
Pros: "The crew were very good. In any case, I shall fly with AC again."
Cons: "Lining up to check in with bags. The customers were "sorted" but I finished up on a very long line with only one person serving; after 30 minutes, that person just wandered off, presumably for a break. We, on the queue waited for 15 minutes for a new person to return. When it was my turn to check in the process took no more tan 30 seconds whilst for others it had taken 10 minutes and more. Dreadful experience. The choice of entertaining films was limited on my flight; normally AC has a wide choice."
Pros: "I sat next to quiet and pleasant travelers. Flight left and arrived smoothly"
Cons: "Boarding was one long queue.... My row was skipped in the meal service when they had to restock and restarted in the wrong row. Attendants never responded to call light. I had to verbally call out as attendants passed by. On the third attempt one actually stopped and brought the meals. No apology given."
Cons: "service desk unable to reroute me on a different flight even though there are seats"
Pros: "Helpful and considerate staff when my friend was sick"
Cons: "The delays to leaving the airplane port."
Cons: "Toronto international airport was very crowded. too many people , not enough facilities. You have to line up to do anything, even buy a bottle water."
Pros: "Flew to and from LHR with Air Canada after flying Air Transat for years. Both flights were professionally managed with the crew in constant availability. Not over the top cheerful, but ready to attend to requests calmly and with attention.beverages etc. were readily available."
Cons: "Low-quality food and small portions for a 9 hr flight."
Cons: "I had to eat a big pizza from outside.. nonsense food and only water being served 24/7 as if I am from a desert..bullshit."
Pros: "Nice and safe flight with little turbulence"
Cons: "Not enough room! And stuck between two fidgety guys. One drank six little bottles of whiskey."
Cons: "They could have done the boarding different. There was a bit confusion about when to board."
Pros: "Very professional but also pleasant. Clean, good food."
Pros: "I really liked how the crew on our leg to Heathrow made sure we were comfortable and asked often if we wanted more drinks (water, etc). We had a delay in landing due to weather but we were able to make our connection because they called ahead to customs and we were able to go to the front of the line. That's service!"
Cons: "Bathrooms got kinda dirty about halfway through the long flight from Toronto to Heathrow."
Cons: "flight was cancelled and I was offered a flight through Montreal with Long connections so I cancelled and flew the next day again through Montreal but with better connections"
Cons: "Seats are always too close to the ones in front , crushing knees."
Cons: "Entertainment system is outdated and not functional"
Cons: "Very bumpy ride"
Pros: "good overall...so MUCH BETTER THAN Air Canada rouge service we took from Ottawa to Venice. Rouge service is very poor!!"
Pros: "The boarding process was confusing. The flight attendant did not bring me my food when she was serving the same row. The pastry snack was not good at all."
Cons: "International connection was delayed and we had to skip lines and run from gate to gate. There should be unboarding priority to people with connections."
Pros: "The pilot and the crew are very proffesional."
Pros: "Crew and flight were okay."
Cons: "Reception and sound quality was poor."
Pros: "On time, a huge variety of new movies, the meal was very good."
Pros: "There were no problems. I had an empty seat next to me."
Cons: "Nothing. There were no problems. The screen did lock when I tried to look at the map."
Pros: "Easy boarding process and the entertainment selections were good."
Cons: "The flight crew were not attentive and rude at times. The one guy even rolled his eyes a few times. He would ask what you wanted to eat or drink and before you could answer he was walking past you to the next row. I had to call him back several times just to get a soda or water."
Pros: "On time flight best customer service"
Pros: "Leg room was better than most airlines as was the food and entertainment choices."
Pros: "The crew"
Cons: "The flight was changed too often."
Pros: "For a long-distance air trip in economy class, it was a generally satisfactory experience."
Cons: "The flight attendants were less than pleasant."
Pros: "The customer service folks at Air Canada. They worked very hard to get us on the second flight. Running through the airport with us, pleading with TSA to move along, trying to talk sense to some guy who eventually allowed people to get off a flight, but wouldn't let us on. I guess its easy to make those decisions when he makes the call from some office via a phone and doesn't have to face customers. All other Air Canada employees we worked with were exceptional!!! Kudos to them."
Cons: "Our flight was delayed 3 hrs from London. Once in Montreal the systems that Air Canada uses to correct the situation are horrible. There was no way we would be able to catch our rescheduled flight in the time it takes to deboard, go through customs, get bags, recheck bags, go through security. We didn't. We missed the next flight too despite the heroic efforts by the staff (excpetion - TSA security. They moved very very slow to the point that they seemed passive aggressive to our situation). This is the second time it has happened. I probably won't fly Air Canada again, if possible."
Pros: "Relatively comfy economy class seats, great in-flight entertainment, decent food and plenty of beverages served by kind and professional attendants."
Cons: "Only negative was a significant delay."
Pros: "Love the new 787, don't know how I can fly in another airplane again now."
Cons: "Lost bag. Took two days to return. Very bad customer service while trying to recover."
Pros: "Clean environment and temperature was pretty constant and comfortable. Staff helpful. The entertainment equipment worked well. This was not the case for for a number of passengers on another carrier's long flight within the past 9 months."
Cons: "There was a nice balance of food, beverages and snacks. However, the food quality was not the same as my previous flight. One meal included mashed potatoes and potato salad and I feel a green salad would have been a better balance. Taste was lacking a bit. Movie choices felt limited. This was "the" trip with the noisy, screaming 2yo sitting directly in front of me. I feel for the child and parents and feel some of the issue was the parent. Crew seemed to mostly ignore the situation. I'm a grandma so usually patient but others around me we clearly annoyed."
Pros: "Crew was great.. offering my daughter snack choices when she did not like the initial offering."
Cons: "There was a 1.5 hour delay related to passenger issue that we never did hear the real details on what was going on. Understand security comes first."
Pros: "The bilingual announcements. The movie selections."
Cons: "Most of the staff were rude and made me feel like an inconvenience any time I needed something. Due to delays leaving Heathrow and arriving in Ontario, my 2 1/2 hour layover was reduced to 30 minutes. And because I was transfering to a flight to the US, I had to sprint through 6 security checkpoints. I made it to my flight, but my bag did not. My bag was not delivered to me until 1 am the following day."
Pros: "Entertainment system was nice and I had a good seat on the aisle with no one in the middle, which was lucky."
Cons: "Getting checked in London was a pain. Air Canada had changed my original flight over (a change I wasn't happy with) and then when I got to LHR had marked my record for a change fee! Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Crew was generally inattentive, absent, and hardly friendly. At one point I was instructed how to load my (tiny) food tray properly after the meal. I am sorry but you are working for the airline and I am paying for service, which I didn't get."
Cons: "I was NEVER TOLD I would need a transit visa to fly through Canada. I was denied boarding in Entebbe by British Air and had to rebook and pay for another flight on a different airline that didn't fly through Canada. Who has another $1,700 in their pocket to cover such expense? A terrible financial hardship. I will NEVER use Kayak again to book travel."
Pros: "Oversold didn't have seats but we were able to get on. They decided to use a smaller plan a large number of people could not leave. We were luckyOversold didn't have seats but we were able to get on. They decided to use a smaller plan a large number of people could not leave. We were luckyOversold didn't have seats but we were able to get on. They decided to use a smaller plan a large number of people could not leave. We were lucky"
Cons: "vwry stressful ending a vacation not knowing if you will get home until the last minute"
Pros: "Boarding went smoothly. The entertainment (monitors in the seat-backs) was excellent. The crew was friendly and helpful. The food was much better than I expected on a flight."
Cons: "I flew economy, so I didn't expect luxury, but that's a very tight fit for an 8-hour flight. I understand that industry standards have gone in this direction and that it's necessary to remain competitive, but at some point the industry needs to take into account the actual size of passengers. What are the seats now, about 16" wide? With so little leg room that I couldn't cross my legs if the seat in front of me was reclined. I'm a slim woman, about 130 lbs., and I was very (very) uncomfortable. I can hardly imagine the discomfort for the poor woman next to me (a plump post-middle-aged lady). I would definitely fly Air Canada again, as the staff was great and the overall experience was good. But I'm looking forward to the end of this trend of reducing space per passenger."
Cons: "I didn't like the fact that my flight from the United Kingdom came in late and that resulted to missing my flight to Indianaplis and ruined my entire plan for the day."
Pros: "Flight attendants were very accommodating despite the full flight. It was comfortable and we received updates from the pilot and flight crew throughout the trip. Love Air Canada!"
Cons: "Air Canada was poor in staying on schedule which caused me to miss my connection. They did not have anyone in the airport to to guide me to where I needed to go to reschedule. It took 2 hours to claim my checked luggage before I could go to the hotel. Then when I called that night to reschedule my flight I was informed that I was already scheduled for the next day. It would have been nice to leave the airport with my boarding pass. Then in the morning had to stand in line for an hour before I could get a boarding pass for a flight that was again delayed. Luckily it was the last leg of my return trip."
Cons: "I GOT TO THE COUNTER 50 MINUTES BEFORE BOARDING AND WAS TOLD IT WAS CLOSED. I HAD TO SPEND ANOTHER $800 TO GET BACK TO THE US. I WILL --NEVER-- BOOK A FLIGHT WITH AIR CANADA, AND I HAVE ALREADY ADDRESSED ON SEVERAL SOCIAL MEDIA SITES HOW YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS. i'M NOT FINISHED WITH THAT EITHER. ANY RATING SYSTEM I CAN FIND I WILL LET THEM KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. THE TWO WOMEN AT THE COUNTER AT HEATHROW WERE SNOTTY AND UNPROFESSIONAL. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON I WAS DENIED BOARDING. I HAD NO CHECKED LUGGAGE. I WILL ALSO NEVER USE KAYAK AGAIN, EITHER. THANKS FOR NOTHING."
Pros: "Individual employees at the gate seemed like good people who got stuck in a bad situation."
Cons: "The check-in process was needlessly difficult. We had to check in less than 12 hours before our flight because the website would not allow access. We could not choose our own seats until very late in the process. Our family was split up (we encountered 8 other families also split up, including single parents with young children). When most of us fixed this problem ourselves on the plane, we got lectured by flight attendants about the "wisdom" of checking in early. Boarding was very delayed because of overbooking and confusion; some people did not make it aboard even though they had been guaranteed a seat. Crew was apathetic, at best. The food was deplorable."
Pros: "Gate assignment was only 44 minutes before take off and with the size of LHR got there after boarding had started. Confusion as right beside it was an AC direct flight to Toronto also boarding so lines were mixing. A hot meal provided which was good except for a stale roll and awful "salad". A hot wrap provided later in flight that was awful, should have used pizza pockets. Good crew and good flight. Always carry active noise cancelling ear buds or headphones."
Pros: "courteous crew; partially empty flight so lots of space to move and lay out Food and entertainment good Air Canada is always a great airline to fly"
Pros: "Lucky as this was not a full flight so I had the seat next to me empty and lots of legroom with a bulkhead seat. The attendants were very nice and the onboard entertainment had a good selection."
Cons: "The food is just not good. Air canada needs to get a new provider."
Pros: "The plane appeared to be new. The TV screen was large and easy to navigate and the selection of movies very good. The crew was friendly and accomodating"
Cons: "The seats were very narrow and close together. It felt very crowded and I was glad I am only 5'1" -- I pity people who are of normal height. Also I was disappointed that a smaller plane was substituted for the original one that I booked, which necessitated a seat change [although I was still given the requested aisle seat]. The plane was totally full which made for a claustrophic flight. The food offered was mediocre, but I have come to expect that in economy."
Pros: "their ticket agents were exceptionally helpful in fixing Emirate airs problems"
Pros: "The crew and team did so wonderfully given a pretty bad situation. We had a passenger who had to be removed from the plane ... after that we tried leaving again, but due to a potential security risk went back to the gate a second time for a security sweep of the plane. This unfortunately caused us to be on the tarmac for two hours, but the crew did a wonderful job of keeping us informed, offering water, calming nerves, etc. Beautiful comfortable airplane as well."
Cons: "I have dietary restrictions and didn't feel there were many options. I wasn't aware that I could make special requests, so I will take advantage of that in the future. I did ask one flight attendant if the salad option was gluten free, and she said "I'm not sure," but also didn't offer to look into it further, meaning I didn't have food for my transatlantic flight. Luckily I took a few small snacks, but that was a little bit of a bummer all the same."
