Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "The snack selection is excellent"
Cons: "No complaints"
Pros: "The food was good, very attentive staff, OK legroom (coach), and the cabin was kept cool, with pillow and blanket"
Cons: "Bathroom was a mess, boarding was a zoo, however, in all fairness, this was due to the construction at the airport, not necessarily Air Canada"
Pros: "Friendly staff. Good entertainment (TV, movies, etc). Good, plentiful food and drink."
Pros: "Flight was comfortable, crew was nice"
Cons: "Entertainment system was lacking in movies and other things to watch"
Pros: "No real positives"
Cons: "Bag check a mess, late departure, so, so food and service."
Cons: "4 hour delay without proper warning, not announced until I reached the airport ( I did check before)"
Pros: "Food is okay. No delay on time flight I enjoyed it"
Cons: "So far nothing flight attendants are very nice"
Pros: "Media on plane selection was great. (Best with less greasy finger prints)"
Cons: "Any type of line or zones. Fill front then back to front?? Kids first? I still resent the handkerchief guy who sat around then cut into position ahead of people who had stood and waited for a lot longer!! Including me!"
Pros: "I really enjoyed the amount of food we got. Especially for the long flight we had. Chicken , snack and then a wrap. Very good. Please continue this."
Cons: "The seat in front didn't have the foot rest and it was really uncomfortable. Anyway to make the seat go back a bit more would be ideal , other then that the flight was great. Crew was very helpful and friendly"
Pros: "I appreciated the varied entertainment options available for such a long flight."
Cons: "The cabin was absolutely freezing! Everyone in the area I was seated was complaining, wearing coats and blankets and still very uncomfortable. The crew was surly and not at all helpful. The flight was very, very late, which caused me to miss my connecting flight in Toronto. If that were an isolated incident, I would be able to look past it, but every leg of the trip I took was late. The boarding process in Rome was so completely unorganized, it was like being in a giant herd pressed against one another and nobody could move to allow the boarding to proceed as called. It was complete chaos from the earliest part of the trip to the very end."
Pros: "- At Rome FCO, one of the Air Canada representatives pulled out of the line to get us into the business class check-in line since we had 2 kids - we totally loved this focus on families and respect the attention to detail! - The flight from FCO to YYZ was awesome! great food, great service, constant flow of drinks and the dessert was awesome! my kids are picky eaters and even they enjoyed the food - Movie and entertainment selection was awesome - Lastly, appreciated the prompt service for getting child stroller at the door of the aircraft at all times (from FCO-YYZ-PDX)"
Cons: "- The new designed aircraft are meant to pack more passengers which means the aisle for rolling the trolley is very narrow - poor flight attendants were having a challenge and bumping trolley into seats (not their fault at all) - given likelihood of injuries and lawsuits, I highly recommend AIR CANADA management to do something about this narrow aisle before it is too late (i.e. major lawsuit filed by future passenger on account of injury sustained because of getting hurt by food trolley)"
Pros: "The crew in the flight from Rome were marvelous. I was sick during the flight and they were helpful"
Cons: "The flight was horribly delayed and my plans and onwards transit was seriously affected. I missed my connecting flight from Toronto to New York and as a result, my plans to proceed to Boston was destroyed. When I spoke to the agent in Toronto, to route me to Boston, she told me that Air Canada's contract with me is to a place and not necessarily at a particular time. That was unbelievable. I arrived New York stranded, at 1:30pm, with no ability to continue to Boston. I had to spend so much money to get me to Boston. It was a horribly long day. Over 25 hours on the road, counting when I arrived Rome airport and when I finally got home."
Pros: "Flight was delayed out of italy causing us to miss our connection. Then flight next morning was delayed twice for some bogus reason, then cancelled all together. We ended up renting a car and driving four hours home. People flying to other cities on east coast were having similar problems. Actually flights back and forth to italy were ok......everything else was a nightmare."
Cons: "Air Canada was a horrible experience from beginning to end"
Pros: "The plane wasn't too bad; comfortable and plenty of movies to choose from; the only thing headsets and volum didn't work as well."
Cons: "Airport was a complete mess; I would say I will never fly out of Rome. Air canada wasn't too bad here since we didn't run into any issues with rebooking flights"
Pros: "There we delays and baggage transfer issues at Montreal for connecting flights. There were delays leaving from Rome."
Cons: "Delays and comfort"
Cons: "I didn't like that I did not get home on the original day specified. I didn't like that my luggage was lost because you all directed me to another airline to get home. It was very stressful and exhausting."
Cons: "There was no working charge for electronics."
Pros: "Paid for extended legroom, which was adequate."
Cons: "The plane in the middle in front areas was very, very warm. On a six hour flight, everyone sweated the whole way."
Cons: "At the rome airport, Air Canada closed their bag drops area 1 hour and 20 mins before the flight. We missed our flight because of this. No one in that airport works for Air Canada, I had to call customer service in the US and wait 35 mins before somebody pick up the phone. Air canada hire a local italian company at the airport to do the check in, but they do not care and close the counter way earlier. We were 7 people in the same situation."
Pros: "The crew and the service was top notch."
Pros: "Movies were good. Landing was good."
Cons: "Ventilation was not great. And the Wrap was awful."
Cons: "We arrived from Rome at 3:30 - we wouldn't have made our 5:25 flight to Boston if I hadn't contacted an agent 2 times stating we were STILL in the security line"
Pros: "entertainment system was very good. Crew were fine. The flight itself was fine as well, no issues with weather, etc so it was just long."
Cons: "The boarding at Rome was chaotic. They give you a "zone" assignment but they never used it. People were just milling around trying to figure it out. Weird."
Pros: "In flight entertainment was great - good selection of movies and TV shows. Attendants worked hard. Food suprisingly good. Very reasonable fare - drove to Toronto from Cincinnati to save $1000 per person vs. flying out of Cincinnati and $700 per person out of Atlanta."
Cons: "Music selections limited for someone who grew up in 60's and 70's."
Pros: "Our family of four took this nine and a half hour flight on a day when it was important we stay awake. The inflight entertainment helped. My husband watched three movies, my kids and I played games (often together), and we used the accurate flight tracker to monitor our status. The food wasn't bad at all. Lunch was either chicken or pasta (which my son and I enjoyed) and we had wraps for snack (chicken or veg, which were very good). The beverage service was good and they came around a couple of extra times with water. The flight staff were friendly and helpful. My son is special needs and they were very accommodating."
Cons: "Boarding this flight was a zoo. Instead of orderly calling zones as usual, it was an every-man-for-himself atmosphere. And then boarding was actually onto a bus which carried us out to the plane. Boarding was in front and back of the plane, but deplaning was only at the front of the plane, which took forever and we had a connecting flight. Word of advice: don't try to connect with less than two hours if you're heading to the US. We had at least four checkpoints to go through. (But that clearly wasn't on Air Canada and they, in fact, had someone at Customs watching out for us.)"
Pros: "I really enjoyed my flight from food to comfort with blankets and pillows"
Cons: "TVs on flight didn't work on most Window seats sides and mostly worked in the middle. Wish they had checked the TVs before boarding everyone especially on a long flight."
Pros: "People at check-in were lovely. Crew was overall great. One crew member was snippy about the window shade being open. same one was sarcastic about delivering wine to us."
Cons: "Waiting area at Rome were mediocre and boarding via a bus cumbersome."
Pros: "New plane, nothing was run down, the seats and tvs were in good repair."
Cons: "The board in and baggage drop of in Rome were a bit hectic and disorganized"
Pros: "We had a pretty uneventful flight from Tampa to Toronto using Air Canada. That is a good thing. The airline offers complementary juices and drinks of the nonalcoholic variety. No complaints."
Pros: "Staff are wonderful."
Cons: "Not comfortable compared to other airlines."
Pros: "I liked the personal TV with movie and TV shows."
Cons: "The food was not very good, but was not expecting much."
Pros: "wonderful airplane fantastic crew endless options for entertainment"
Cons: "wonderful airplane fantastic crew endless options for entertainment"
Pros: "Good seats Treated like I was important"
Pros: "Flight from Vancouver to Frankfort was perfect. All crew members and gate members were pleasant to deal with."
Pros: "The flight was on time compared to the schedule"
Cons: "Too cold (temperature) No screen but only ipad to rent"
Pros: "Safe landing"
Cons: "Service. French crew from Montreal. Rude at best. They were bothered to do anything. Awful service. Movies only via iPad with Air Canada app. Old movies. No free wine with dinner on international flight. Both luggage damaged and they do not cover it."
Pros: "The costumer service desk in Toronto on the way home was very curtious and helpful. They helped us get back on our original flight home, avoiding the 6 hour layover caused by their rescheduling after we got to Rome."
Cons: "2 of our 4 flight legs were changed last minute creating great difficulties making the first flight and causing a 6 hr layover on the way home. The crews to and from Rome acted like they had to be there and wished they weren't. that made the flight much less pleasant. The line through customs in Rome was 90 minutes long, way understaffed."
Cons: "One hour late due to mechanical issue. There was very crowed thru US custom in Toranto. Took 1.5 hours to completed US custom."
Pros: "Good food. Easy flight"
Pros: "Flight crew was friendly and helpful. Montreal is a very manageable airport. Staff there was also courteous and efficient. Food was very good for airline fare. Renting an IPad for $10 to watch movies in-flight was a reasonable option for distraction on a 9 hour flight. We were quite pleased with Air Canada and will not hesitate to book with them again."
Cons: "My seat back was not reclining for the entire 9 hour trip"
Pros: "able to get a whole row to myself"
Cons: "no inflight entertainment unless you had your own laptop or other device"
Cons: "I could not see anything because I didn't know that I had to install the app on my laptop"
Pros: "Staff on board and pilots did well"
Cons: "The baggage checkin was awful. The boarding check in was awful. The security check in was awful. The customs check in was awful. Understaffed and inefficient. The baggage conveyor backed up. The same staff that checked in our baggage was the same person who then ran upstairs to check us in at gate and it was all hand done and not computer scanned. No check in kiosks to make ticket checkin faster. Lines were all backed up and I barely made flight and my connection. Many either missed flights it connection or plane was held up to get people to flights. The lady at customs check in was good trying to handle the back ups but the shrine was severely backed up and understaffed. The pilots made good time and handle the turbulence well. Staff on board did well with timing of food and drinks Entertainment on board was awful. Didn't find out until on board on 8 hour international flight that needed an iPad with downloaded app for entertainment and therefore I had three kids that had nothing to do. Never did I have such an issue with an international flight that was so poorly managed. So disappointed."
Pros: "No real issues...nice direct flight...on time too! Good movie selection."
Cons: "Connection of headphones was not good...monophonic sound"
Pros: "Like the food beer and movies"
Cons: "Did not like the attitude of the women flight attendants"
Pros: "Crew was friendly. We liked that the flight was direct."
Cons: "Online they said there was seatback entertainment. Once we got onboard we were told we needed to use the air canada app for all entertainment, including viewing, and there was no seatback video."
Pros: "Great company. Will use it again!"
Cons: "We were in the last row so last ones to get off obviously which it wouldn't have been a big deal, but connecting flight time was a concern"
