So, things get more and more delayed. Can't you predict roughly when the plane is going to land (once it is in the air!) and arrange for some gate to be open, so that we don't have to sit on the ground for 45 minutes once it has landed, for example? People who know how to organize are ordinarily capable of doing that. Furthermore, the lack of transparency is really frustrating: we just sit on the tarmac with no indication of how long we're going to be there, and the estimates of the delays are completely wrong when we're given them."

Airplane had to be fixed, but it should not have taken that long to find a solution. Passenger care was horrible: Initially we sat on the tarmac for 4 hours, then transferred to a waiting station with almost no heat and no access to rest rooms or food."

I did not know Guangzhou to Wuhan was domestic flight and needed to check out luggages and check in luggages in Wuhan until we arrived in Guangzhou airport. We were lucky we could change to international flight Guangzhou-Wuhan-San francisco. Otherwise we could not come back on time. It's horrible. The ticket did not state we need to check in/ check out luggages twice and guangzhou-Wuhan is domestic flight which always changes schedule without notice. We won't buy this type of flight anymore."

The staff really helped us with the temporary visa process during our layover in Wuhan!"

I did ask a crew member if I should leave the plane and she said to ask ground crew. But there was a lot of pasangers that did the same thing. I had to go through customs, security check and immigration to get back on the plane."

Then all legs of the trip were suddenly booked, but seats were not confirmed. I was charged a $450 cancellation fee despite the fact that they did not do their job because I was unable to trust anything they were doing, and subsequently booked my flight direct through Delta. Please keep in mind I purchased the ticket on July 3, 2016 and Airfare.com was unable to provide me a complete ticket until the night of August 16, 2016 with a August 17, 2016 departure date to China! I can honestly say this was the worst travel booking experience I've ever had."

Cons: "The seats were very cramped for an international flight and half of the foot space was taken up by an installed box of sorts. The "foot rest" also dug into my upper shins the entire flight (I had it in the upright position, but I have long legs). The food was really bad, basically inedible. Not just on this flight but on all the Air China flights I've been on, and both food options are usually identical other than the option between fake chicken or fake beef or seafood. The flight is super structured (referring to my 13-hour flight), that you're not allowed to sleep when you want because they have such a regimented schedule of when to turn on/off the lights, etc. On multiple occasions the flight attendants have turned off my tv monitor while I'm in the middle of a movie just because it appeared I was sleeping. With my 1 hr layover in Beijing that ended up being less than 10 minutes due to a delay, I made the rush through security quick enough, but my bags did not and needed to be shipped to me a day later at my destination. Air China purposefully schedules flights with such short layovers, putting customers' travel at risk. Not a major issue, but the crew surprisingly also had pretty limited English on the Beijing-Washington DC flight. For connecting flights, I have no expectation of English language ability, because it doesn't involve travel to an English-speaking country. However, if you're flying to the US, you should expect to communicate in English well, at least one of the cabin crew."

Then it waited until everyone on the other buses had boarded before letting the four of us to get off the bus - we were the last four people to board the plane. Happily there was still space for my carry on, but it was not what I would call priority service."

From my flight being delayed multiple times by air china to the overly packed united to the confusion of the non updated confirmation numbers or the e-ticket number. Even on the day I left upon arriving to the airport my confirmation number they had just given me after all the prior problems still didn't work. Air china had mediocre food with okay entertainment except my headset jack on the TV was broke and I couldn't watch anything. On the last air china flight from Bejing to Bangkok. I couldn't even charge my phone, watch any entertainment and basically was just stuck with no WiFi. Justfly wouldn't compensate for the changes on their end and said I myself would have to ask the airlines for compensation which the.the airlines directed me no where for compensation or even to upgrade my seat. Now I'm finally in Thailand but I'm scared of my return."

I tried to call kayak and nobody is answering, I also called priceline and they couldn't do anything. They said I have to cancel everything then rebook a new one. So I ended up paying $1300!!! for a new flight and in addition to that I have a penalty of $200!!! For my original flight cost of only $600. And my companion who has the same flight as me didn't take her flight because the agent in Air china said that we could rebook her flight without charge and for the same price. So we ended up paying $1300 for her as well plus again the $200 penalty. So we lost $3000 for just the 2 of us!! I will never fly air china again! Worst day ever!"

I also felt like I was inconveniencing the staff every time I asked for some water. I know thats not very tangible, it was just a feeling. Lastly the entertainment sucked. They had a very limited selection, old movies, and even some American movies that weren't available in English."

Pros: "Overall, pretty great flights with this airline. We were delayed but ended up boarding earlier than expected which was nice. Our flight had plenty of food and beverage opportunities which was nice although don't expect anything out of this world, it's airplane food after all."
Cons: "Flight was delayed and no one knew how to communicate that to us. A sign would have been appreciated at least, considering we were out of the country we did not even get the email notification until the next day."

Pros: "Bought the tickets on kayak/priceline and could not get seat assignments or boarding pass except when we arrived at the airport 2 hours before our flight. Fortunately, all we needed to show the Air China desk was our passports and they checked us in and also asked us what seats we preferred. We had no problem getting an aisle seat."

Cons: "Boarding: bad, I couldn't check-in online because of some error which apparently only I faced. I still don't know the reason Customer care: horrible, either there are no reps with Air China or they just don't pick their phones. Tried calling them on various occasions for various things but wasn't answered even once (except for booking the meals). Baggage care: irresponsible, my luggage couldn't be loaded on time despite a good 3 hour layover at Beijing airport. I stood at the baggage belt for a good 45 mins (on the edge of crying) before the person responsible to inform me that my luggage hasn't arrived yet showed up. After that as well, I wasn't given a file reference number through which I could track my luggage. Also, nobody picks the phone at baggage claim office unless you call repeatedly for 50 times. What's with the distance between their phones and reps? Inflight crew: impolite, just one word for them. Food: boiled veggies for Hindu vegetarian meals, I mean I wouldn't place a special request for a meal like this. Seats: uncomfortable, the small monitor hangs so frequently that you give up watching even your favourite movie inside a boring flight."

Cons: "Very uncomfortable, bad food, and way too many interruptions about turbulence. They could have just said this once, but they would repeat the message in Mandarin and English 3 or 4 times in the span of 5 minutes. We get it. Just say, "Please stay seated" and leave it alone"
