Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Friendly crew in business class."
Cons: "Not enough washrooms for # of people. Denied us of from WR. Food carts blocked WR access to most people for long periods of time."
Pros: "The best thing about the flight was the flight attendant Eric. He went out of his way to make everyone’s flight good. He was very professional and friendly."
Cons: "The only thing we didn’t like really was that the back rests didn’t recline and that there was no monitors/screens like other aircraft. Seemed very “budget” like."
Pros: "Crew was fine."
Cons: "Seats are so narrow you have to huddle to one side to avoid physical contact with large passengers seated next to you."
Pros: "Good transfer of bags through Toronto to Vancouver."
Cons: "Lax schedule, poor seating and comfort, poor food, charging for wine. Flight provided by Air Canada Rouge."
Pros: "The crew were friendly."
Cons: "The crew did the best they could but the plane had two equipment malfunctions resulting in a 1.5 hr delay. After the first one resolved, we were inches away from takeoff when the captain came on to tell us something went wrong and we would need to be towed back to the terminal. After waiting for the ground crew to come rescue us, we started pushing backwards but then forwards again. Captain came on and said the problem was fixed. Once we landed at Toronto Pearson from Mexico City, there were no available gates. The movies see election available through streaming on Air Canada Rouge had fewer movies and shows than the tablet you could rent from the airline."
Pros: "The flight was on time."
Cons: "The flight attendants ignored us. There was no legroom. There were no free snacks. It took forever to get our drinks."
Pros: "Issues caused by weather, otherwise flight was fine."
Cons: "My seat was wet and i had to wait quite a while for it to be rectified. I asked to sit on a crew seat at the back of the plane and was told that i would break it. I found this rather disgusting . Seating plan is very crammed like sardines"
Pros: "Had an aisle seat."
Cons: "I thought boarding was more difficult than normal with the gate configuration. Hard to hear announcements."
Pros: "Size of seats and entertainment"
Cons: "Late leaving, slow baggage claim"
Pros: "Not to have to change plane between Prague and Toronto."
Cons: "No entertainment on plane, so 9 hrs reading or looking into air. Employee did only what they has to do, had missing buttons on their uniforms, shoe which were not polished since they were new. Bathroom were running out of paper."
Pros: "Seats were comfortable and Crew was friendly. The Captain was giving updates when appropriate and even was friendly when the passengers were disembarking. It seems like he really enjoys his job and that made my trip nice. I liked getting the blanket and pillow on every seat. It was very nice not to have to search for them."
Cons: "Didn't have the Air Canada app so couldn't access WiFi to download app for the entertainment. It might be helpful if the airline would tell you ahead of time so you are prepared. Also, no real description of food offerings. Would be helpful if there was a description beside chicken or vegetarian."
Cons: "Air Canada did everything wrong except for the actual flying of planes. Repeated delays and cancellations with NO organization or communication to the passengers. I made it to my final destination 24 hours later than original itinerary, almost all of which was spent in airport lines. My bag didn't arrive until 5 days later...on the wrong porch."
Cons: "I have taken 6 flights with your company in the last two weeks. Each has had a minimum of 45 min delay. Your seats are very small. Your planes seem dated and have no entertainment system on board, oh unless I want to pay another $10 bucks for an Ipad.. Food , what food. You did not have half of the items on your own menu.. and when I bought some cheese and crackers, I had to remind the lady that cashews were in the picture too. You have a mediocre airline, nothing to brag about here."
Pros: "Service food on time flights"
Cons: "No movie for such a long flight."
Pros: "Everything was great"
Pros: "The flight crew were great and very accommodating."
Cons: "A majority of the passengers on flight either barely caught, or missed, their connecting flight due to this flight being so delayed."
Pros: "THE FOOD SELECTION WAS GREAT."
Cons: "I WAS TOLD THE FLIGHT WAS FULL AND I OVERHEARD THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS BRIEFING THE PARENTS SAYING THERE WAS 17 INFANTS ON THIS FLIGHT. I THINK IT WOULD BE GOOD TO HAVE ALL THE PARENTS WITH INFANTS/BABIES TO SIT IN A SECTION DESIGNATED FOR THEM TO ACCOMMODATE THEIR NEEDS AS A FAMILY. IT DOESNT MAKE FOR A PLEASANT FLIGHT WITH BABIES CLIMBING ALL OVER THE SEATS. I GET THATS IT DIFFICULT TO TRAVEL WITH BABIES AND KEEP THEM ENTERTAINED WHICH IS WHY ITS BETTER TO BE AROUND OTHER PARENTS IN THE SAME SITUATION. THEY CAN SUPPORT EACH OTHER."
Cons: "Flight cancelled on Monday due to runway repairs. Rebooked to Wednesday."
Cons: "Flight cancelled on Monday due to runway repairs. Rebooked on Wednesday. I could walk faster."
Pros: "The on board entertainment was phenomenal. My kids LOVED that they could connect and play games with each other. The gate agents in narita were the sweetest people I've come across in a long time."
Cons: "Air Canada is pretty dang snobby for the most part. Im not sure when a rule was instituted that headphones can't be worn under 10000 feet, but my three children were targeted many times about their headsets... on the ear, boring kid headsets... and there were THREE adults around us wearing similar headsets that were not bothered. I am a single mother of three tired children and we were settling in for a long flight and I found the treatment very unnecessary and discriminatory. The food was pretty awful, lol. We ordered kids meals and none of my kids ate on the flight."
Cons: "Our connecting flight from Toronto to Thunder Bay was cancelled. AC put us in a hotel for the night. Thanks for the $15 dinner voucher. Almost paid for the salad. Then we had to get up at 530am to get the 6am hotel shuttle in order to get back to airport for our 8am flight. They seem to always cancel the 9pm flight from Thunder Bay to Toronto because not full enough. And the last flight is over sold so we have to stay the night in Toronto. Then don't offer the 9pm flight. Passengers have other commitments in their life's. We don't need AC to just hold us over for the night because one of their flights is have empty."
Pros: "They afford a civil and enhanced trip on an Express flight. Something AA and other airlines consistently fail to do."
Pros: "Flight timings were perfect for my schedule. Boarding and departure were timely as well."
Pros: "The flight was on time!!!"
Cons: "I find over the past 25 years that I have been flying with Air Canada the customer service has really went to the dumps !!! Every body is rude and don't understand why."
Pros: "I think cost me without needing to go back and forth"
Pros: "All was well. Thanks"
Cons: "Plane way too cold, seat would not recline"
Pros: "Got home safe"
Cons: "Meal -"
Pros: "The ONLY part of flying Air Canada that I used to like was your partnership with SAS, over the past ten years I have lost more airtravel points through Star Alliance troubles than I could have made in the decade before. Luckily when I fly from my birth place of St. John's NL, you're ground staff are the absolute best! I can give "shout outs" to each and every one of them. From those ready for retirement to the new staff just in from "who knows where", they get the whole "customer service" priority that your airline needs to focus on. Your management in Halifax "Sharon" is out of this world too, other than that whether through Lufthansa, Air Canada or anywhere I would travel, seeing that red leaf on your wing would make me ashamed to be Canadian."
Cons: "I paid extra for a seat to ensure leg room, all I got was ear ache! The flight - although half empty had no place for my briefcase, but I was "ordered" to push my sealskin bag under the dirty greasy seat in front of me. When I requested they store it upfront for take-off & landing - the french female steward started flirting with the man sitting next to me and didn't even offer a response. When drinks came around - I was handed a half empty glass with juice on it's exterior and borrowed a napkin from the next seat. Later I did get a napkin "thrown gently" over the person she enjoyed speaking with. I was happy to wait until connecting passengers disembarked before the local traffic, but was appalled when the more senior female steward stopped a local passenger who I know has anxiety about flying - to insist she let the other passengers off first. Air Canada needs to be educated on what human behaviour entails, before they can graduate to customer service. Together with my first name, you can know my last name is Floyd"
Cons: "I've never been on a transatlantic flight that didn't offer a drink with dinner. Plus, not having a TV screen for passenger's entertainment is out dated. Time to upgrade these planes, or don't use them for long haul flights"
Pros: "The breakfast and the empty seat in the middle section, making more comfortable."
Cons: "The "Monty" chicken wrap was cold, and older plane in which you were charged 10$ for iPad rental."
Cons: "An hour delay and mix up at which loading gate. Received ten minutes of free wi fi as compensation. Food would have been better as wi fi didn't work."
Pros: "They were quick to bring meals and snacks. Friendly and accommodating flight crew."
Cons: "For a 9 hour flight, I would have preferred a heads up that there is no in-flight entertainment and you need to have a charged device of your own with the Air Canada app pre-installed. And if you didn't get that memo and you have an Apple device, you're out of luck. Otherwise you can rent an iPad for $10. The chairs were thin and flimsy making it difficult to sleep. And unfortunately we got a "window seat" that did not have a window. It was very disappointing."
Pros: "We arrived to our destination safely"
Cons: "Overbooked flight Switched gates at the last minute before boarding--very confusing. Filthy bathrooms on plane Typical bad airline food; couldn't even break apart dinner roll it was so rubbery. No individual movie screens, had to use your own mobile device and earphones or pay $10 to use an ipad provided by the plane to access in-flight network. Overall very disappointing service. Expected much more from Air Canada."
Pros: "thanks for the $20 food voucher"
Cons: "late, and 20 minute shuttle ride to the main terminal"
Pros: "Nice airplane and very friendly staff once finally on board."
Cons: "Please read previous comments (copied and pasted below) I should never have been sold the flight. The connecting time was too short - even under normal circumstances without delay I was told that I had a solid chance of missing the flight. Furthermore, once I finally made it into Montreal for my connecting flight, no one did anything to expedite my experience. They tried to get me to my final destination 24 hours after I was supposed to be there - they had a packet of accommodations for hotel and flight already prepped (mind you, I had only missing my flight by 10 minutes so clearly my seat was sold to someone else), and they didn't want to accommodate me in any other way. Explaining that I was meeting a friend who had taken another flight, I was told that the problem was not his and there was nothing I could do. Even though I found flights on Kayak and on Air Canada site for an alternate flight getting me out to Europe a few hours later, I was told "no can do." I asked him to speak to a manager and suddenly he was on the phone and (successfully) accomodating me. BUT. The flight was a connecting flight (connection in Rome to final destination Barcelona) - and he hadn't booked me the Rome to Barcelona portion. i was told - "go see the stand in Rome and they will have your ticket ready to go." They didn't have anything on their record but did tell me that this flight should not have been booked for me without having a ticket for my final destination. This was a hellish experience and I will be writing reviews and contacting Air Canada further to discuss this whole process."
Pros: "The commuter terminal in Toronto is a bit of a pit. Basically a glorified hallway, which gets pretty chaotic while you are waiting for your flight, and others are queuing up. For anyone with mobility challenges it is a long hike from the main terminal."
Cons: "Food could be better"
Pros: "Flight was early"
Cons: "Drink serve very slowly not that it is important"
Cons: "Was not told a transit visa was necessary to fly through Canada. Denied boarding in Nairobi on way over and had to book on another airline."
Pros: "See above"
Cons: "See above"
Pros: "Boeing 787 is a terrific modern aircraft."
Cons: "Due to an hour+ boarding delay, the gate area was overwhelmed with people concurrently boarding international flights at two comingled gates. Overlapping PA announcements, both live and prerecorded, had lots of folks confused."
Pros: "The female flight attendant was very good at her job."
Cons: "The plane was late out of Toronto making for a mad rush at O'hare to make connection."
Pros: "Fast & efficient"
Cons: "Crew was strangely inflexible about rules that I had not encountered before- being only in ticketed seat until at altitude (the flight was very empty), only specific headphones during takeoff & ascent, no headphones or electronic devices at all during final descent and landing."
Pros: "Clean, quick flight."
Cons: "cramped, not enough carry-on room."
Pros: "Ease of boarding"
Cons: "My husband being injured and in severe pain!!! It ruin our anniversary which was on the exact date of the accident, 4/8!! The sandwich had a razor thin slice of turkey on a big roll!! Shane on them!"
