Insurance was more than car hire. Options to add through online booking kept failing and it appears to be more expensive at the desk. Otherwise Alamo were great to deal with. You pick your car and go.

The instructions said a shuttle was needed, but all rental cars are right at airport now. Otherwise, no complaints. Tire needed air the last morning, but can’t really blame Alamo for that. Great price!

We had a firm quote including taxes on the car for 62 days - $3500.00 They charged my credit card for $4500 - The car, service, people we dealt with were great - their accounting department and those that handle quotes and pricing are completely dishonest.

The vehicle on the website when booking was different to the actual vehicle I was allocated upon pick up. So wasn’t very pleased with this false advertising. Upon pick up the customer service was terrible, the lady at Sixt tried to make it out as if she was being helpful when in actual fact she wasnt. I would never book through Kayak and Sixt again. Highly do not recommend

First car smelled bad and I had to switch. I also was upgraded to car but that car (jeep wrangler) had no charger for cell phone or bluetooth. So it was a nicer car but with less amenities.

Beware this Hertz is not accessible from the Honolulu airport terminals. Had to take an Uber/Taxi to and from the Hertz. Kayak/Hertz doesn’t make it clear that this Hertz doesn’t have access to the airport.

Regarding the email about necessary belongings. It said credit card, so I took that, but I didn't think debit cards were allowed and lost over an hour going back to the hotel to get my credit card. It would have been helpful if it was clearly stated

The attitude of the branch manager was horrible. My flight was delayed and when I arrived at the store the next day (but within 24 hours), the car was not kept for me. I tried to contact Hertz multiple times but was not able to get in touch. The manager then asked me to pay $100 extra to get a car. It was by far the worst experience I have had for car rental.

Koapaka St pickup location was about 15 minute walk from Daniel K. Inouye Airport (HNL). Not bad if you know where to go and how to get there. Walk to the Diamond Head end (east) of the terminal, first floor. Follow the street past Dunkin Donuts, and IHOP, or cut across the parking lot of the shopping center across the street, angling NW. Koapaka is the street before Meleluca Store. One option is to leave one person watching the luggage while the one person goes to pick up the car. Took me about 30-45 minutes waiting in line, checking in, and receiving the keys to the car. Dealers choice was a 2021 model with less than 5,000 miles. Overall, good deal for the price if you are willing to walk, catch a taxi, or hook up with a ride sharing company. Either way you are still saving money versus renting a car from the new car rental facility at the airport. Dropping off was faster since there was no one waiting for service.

They didn’t even have a car for me. Told me I would have to wait 3 hours or I could go somewhere else. They only could say I could call there corporate office! They were absolutely no help and completely terrible! Horrible experience!!!

Did not like discovering the hidden costs of adding a second driver. The pickup experience was AWFUL - 2-and-a-half-hour wait for the vehicle in a sultry garage without water or bathrooms - after we had completed the rental agreement. Will never rent from Thrifty again.

This location is not at the airport and will cost an extra 100.00 or so to go back and forth to airport. Air conditioner didnt work in the back . So they gave me a $60 credit. Experience was ok but would of rented at airport if known they were 20 minutes away and no transportation to and from location.

I rented a small SUV back in March for June in Honolulu HI. back in March the rental was cheap 250 for 6 days, then the car rental in HI blew up. I was so relieved that I already had my rental reserved. When I got to HI and went to pick up my car they told me that I had my rental pick up set at Wakiki not at the airport. No biggie I took an Uber to pick it up at the address they sent me to, only to find out that it’s been permanently closed since the pandemic. So I called customer support and everyone kept apologizing and saying that they could not help me but they could cancel my reservation. All of them wanted to help me by canceling my reservation. I said absolutely not to this “help” I persisted but they could do nothing for me on that day. Luckily my hotel was not far from the location the Uber had taken us. So now we were forced to walk lugging our luggage for at least a mile. The next day someone was able to help me and I had to take another Uber to pick up a car. Not the one I rented but I was glad to have something to get around in. Not a great experience getting it but ok once I got it. They still made me drop off the car at the new location they sent me to and I had to take another Uber to the airport so another 78 bucks down the drain.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.

Staff was very friendly, both at pick up and drop off. Very efficient, little wait to pick up. Car was in good shape and easy to pick up and drive out.

Cons:

Interior of car could have been a bit cleaner (one or two spots needed a wipe with a damp napkin) but nothing egregious.
