Staff were friendly. Car was great. Good value. Easy pickup and drop off. The only thing we had difficulty with was trying to see if we could change drop-off locations. We could not get in touch with anyone directly, other than a calling service who only was able to leave a message. We never did hear back on that, but it all worked out anyway.

Car was clean but damaged

Cons:

Staff was awful, both at pick up and drop off. I will never use Enterprise again and am already advising my friends and family of the terrible experience I had. At pickup, I was charged $206 more than what my reservation was for. The agent could not figure out why, and then suggested that it was because my drop off location was different, which it was not, Pick up and drop off were at SLC airport. I called Enterprise and it was confirmed that there was nothing in my reservation that had ever indicated drop off at a different location, and I was advised to call on a Monday to get it resolved. When I dropped the car off, it was over a $200 difference again. This time, the agent was trying to tell me that taxes for 1 extra day was over $100. I showed her my original reservation which showed $86/day and a total of $48 for 3 days of taxes. 3 days of taxes at $48 is $16/day, and she could not tell my why the taxes would be $140 for 1 extra day. Complete incompetence. I asked for a manager and she finally took this phantom charge off my bill. So what is the deal Enterprise? You tried to screw me coming and going. Is this how your employees are trained? Do you think most people are just going to shrug it off because they are at an airport and really have no other choice? Never again with Enterprise.

Being unable to use a debit card during a transportation crisis was truly beaurocratic, Kafka-esque hell. I needed to get home and the lack of flexible truly put me in a precarious situation and harmed me.

Had to wait in a long line for over a half hour because Avis only had one person working at the counter. The other car companies had no lines and had multiple people working at their counters. But beyond that I was very happy with the car I rented and the ease of picking it up and dropping it off

Pick-up truck

Avis constantly charges me the incorrect amount which meant that I had to wait in line for 50 minutes to correct the issue. Because this is not the first time this occurred, I almost believe Avis intentionally mischarges its customers as most don’t have the time to wait in a lengthy line but instead must catch a flight. Avis also never has the car I reserved.

Intermediate SUV

We booked a Nisson Rogue and the only choice we were given was a Dodge Durango. The rental consume much more fuel then the Nisson and we did not need the room of the Dodge. We opted to go directly to the car and bypass the counter as there was a long line at Hertz. That said, the Hertz staff when we were exiting the airport as well as the return staff were excellent and very professional.

I rented a car, prepaid and made the check in, all ready for just pick up and go, but when I arrived to the office, they told me that I had my license banned/blocked for a non-payment in a past claim damage, when supposedly was paid for my insurance company. I was hurry for get the car, so I didn't have time for ask to my insurance company what happened. It took me a couple hours even pay, because nobody knows why I was banned.

It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a car rental company. We arrived at Salt Lake City Airport on 12-29-21. There was a large group of six so I had prepaid for a minivan a few weeks prior to be sure I would have a vehicle. When I got there I got a call from Jason at the Salt Lake City office who informed me that the minivans they had were still all out from previous renters. I had to cancel that rental and book 2 smaller vehicles at the airport through Alamo Rental which cost an extra $200 for me. Very dissatisfied with Hertz.

Minivan

The car could’ve been cleaner when we got it but we knew we would soon get it dirty anyway. We had 7 people in a Chrysler Pacifica and it worked well for us and our luggage. Personnel were friendly and helpful at SLC airport.

Airport pickup took an HOUR. Every other rental company had minimal to no lines but the thrifty/dollar rental desk had a super long, slow line. We were late to our event because of it. If I were doing again I would pay a little more to rent from another company at the Salt Lake airport. Once we actually got the car everything was fine.

Pros:

The pickup at Salt Lake City airport had 1 attendant for 30 people, then the manager on duty arrived and helped. The attendants did the best they could with the crowd they had to manage.

Cons:

We had potential safety issues with our car when 4 and a half hours away from a rental office. We repeatedly were disconnected from service agents on the phone, and NO FOLLOWUP when this happened. Had to spend several hours on hold with NO resolution and, I repeat, NO FOLLOWUP. The safety issue turned out to be OK, but Thrifty was not interested in the least to help us ensure our safety was assured and our vacation plans not totally upended.

Full-size SUV

Rental counter was closed when my flight arrived late (past midnight). I would expect a ‘major’ airport such as SLC would have coverage for later flights. With nobody available in-person and a typically frustrating phone call to a computer only, we had to stay the night nearby and rent my vehicle the next day. No change in rental costs, no acknowledgement of the hassle, simply “tough luck, you want the vehicle or not”.

Reservations give a company a pretty good idea of how busy they will be on any given day. We picked up our car on a Friday with a convention in town, why are they understaffed on a day like this? It took over an hour to get to my car. They might have made a profit that day, but I will think twice before going with Dollar/ Thrifty again.

Cons:

The experience at the pickup wasn’t the best, not very professional. The drop off at the park and jet was awful. The attendant was hateful, directions were unclear and as my daughter said the whole set up was sketchy. It turned out ok but won’t be using them again.
