FAQs - booking Vietnam flights

  • Are there nonstop flights from Calgary to Vietnam?

Direct options are not available because of the considerable distance covered by this flight. Most flights on the route from Calgary to Vietnam will include a layover in Vancouver (YVR), and then stop again at a major international hub like Hong Kong (HKG), or Taipei (TPE). Be sure to check the duration of the layover, which can be seen in your KAYAK search.

  • What travel documents will I need for my trip?

As of 2023, Canadian citizens must secure an Evisa before entering Vietnam. The visas are valid for up to 90 days with either a single or multiple entry, depending on your choice. You can easily apply for the visa online, as long as you have a valid passport, approved photo, and the required fees. Visas take around 5 to 7 business days to process. Always check official government websites for the most up-to-date information.

  • Do I have to pay extra for my baggage?

If you are flying with WestJet in the Basic Economy class, you are allowed one personal item and carry-on for free, but you will need to pay for any checked bags. Upgrading to Economy Flex will add a checked bag to your reservation. Flying this route with Air Canada gives you a carry-on and one checked bag for free with an Economy ticket.

  • Where should I fly if I want to visit Ha Long Bay?

The beautiful limestone cliffs of the bay are in the northern part of the country and are most easily accessible by flying into Hanoi Noibai (HAN) Airport. Flights into Hanoi often have more than two stops, making it a longer and more expensive choice when flying to Vietnam.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Calgary to Vietnam?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Calgary to Vietnam.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from Calgary to Vietnam?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight to Vietnam from Calgary is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from Calgary to Vietnam?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly to Vietnam with an airline and back to Calgary with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Calgary to Vietnam?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying to Vietnam from Calgary up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

Not very comfortable seated in the back plane due to turbulence

We were seated at the back and that was very uncomfortable for me with the turbulence we experienced on our way to Chicago.

I enjoyed flying on Korean Air. The service was great and the food was yummy. They served white fish.

I enjoyed flying on Korean Air. The service was great and the food was yummy, especially the bibimbap and cold spicy noodles. The only thing that bummed me out on this red-eye flight was that my seat did not properly recline so I was not able to sleep.

On time and flight crew are always so happy to help and always smiling unlike other airlines.

New plane. Perfect gluten free meal Very flawless procedures from check-in to the landing. Taking off on time and landing even earlier and the luggages are already there after shortest arrival report.

Not accommodating ground staff On board slow service Crew members not very friendly

lunch was good; breakfast was kinda meh cabin temprature was way too high new entertainment system but somewhat limited content

Food was just ok, not as tasty as in other airlines. The temperature in the aircraft was a bit warm so it was not comfortable for me and my husband.

The type of the food requested (Asian vegetarian) was not properly met with. They have very limited snack items that may compensate for the main meals.

The quality of the food is pretty good. Thank you, EVA Air.

Poor food on board, but seats are too small and uncomfortable

Pleasant crew. Very long flight, a bit uncomfortable at times being seated, but not too bad.

They didn’t have ice for the drinks and only gave you half a cup of your beverage. Did not have enough water. I got dehydrated

Seats could have been more comfortable, but it was a pretty good experience all things considered

Staff’s were polite & helpful. Love to fly with Eva Air!❤️

Fast boarding process. Flight was expected for a long haul economy flight

Overall the flight was what might be expected for a long haul flight to Asia in economy class. The cabin crew was attentive and the food was good. Boarding was fairly fast and easy. The one thing I found frustrating was the EVA app. It is terrible. Trying to do anything on it was almost impossible.

I hope their usb charging port works. None of their usb port is working. Boeing 777 LA to Taipei (vs)

Comfort was left wanting due to such a long flight, made the wife and I wish we could upgrade the seats to Business class or First Class, but did not have that option. Food was good but had very limited options and I have a dietary restriction which was difficult for the staff to accommodate since everything provided came with cheese on it. (Cheese could potentially kill me) Did not have an option to inform the staff until we were already in the air about the restriction and was not provided another option before flight departed.

Decent flight, staff was very good, especially with the turbulence during the flight due to weather. Comfort was about par with other airlines but since it was a quick flight, was not much of an issue for us.

It was a 2 hour flight to Taiwan. Lunch was served. China Airlines goes above and beyond for their passengers.

Liked that I could pick my seat and have a special meal without an extra charge. Luggage is reasonable for overseas trip. What could have been better is boarding and leaving on time.

Great flight, although I flew out of ONT and that is where my car is, lol

Free Wi-Fi could have been better in the Airport.

3 of the 4 flights had delays despite the weather being fine, but still managed to make all connections

Baggage made it successfully to destination despite short layover. Appreciate that.

Staff were good and nice. There should me 3 meals instead of only 2 and snacks.

Flight was delay almost 2 hours from Hong Kong to Taipei. Last minute gate change from 24 to 66. Long way walk. We need to run in the Taipei airport to catch our next flight from Taipei to Vancouver. That is so suck!

It was good! Appreciated that it was very on schedule so it made the connecting flight less stressful

Two flights, both poor. No entertainment. Cramped and uncomfortable seats, little space, the rest was OK. Staff were acceptable good.

The crew was doing their best on an old plane needing updating. Chairs that creaked and wouldn’t stay in position. My tray table was unusable as was on-board entertainment due the audio needing usb earphones (that were not provided). Prior to boarding in Toronto and despite being scheduled for a wheelchair and assistance, we were dropped off by clubcar without a wheelchair which I found myself by a gate. Due to no boarding gate assigned at that time we waited and when it was, it subsequently was moved from 64 to 95. No help could be found so I pushed my husband’s chair to that furthest gate in the airport at the highest speed possible for a 73 year old. And by that I mean I ran. It was a very stressful experience.

Wifi wasn't working on one of the UA flights after boarding.

Leg room was lacking. Legs crammed into seat in front.

T hey did a great job. Flight was on time .

the plane was old. the wifi didn’t work. the entertainment was boring and dated. the charging ports were impossible to find. i was mostly ignored by flight attendants that had no problem speaking to the man beside me. i got two drinks the entire time i was on the plane.

Crew was not very helpful. They forgot to serve me coffee and had to wait for a long time.It looked as if they were not very happy with what they were doing.

The flight I was connecting with waited for me even though my 1st flight was late. I really appreciated that.

The seat is too hard and my back and bottom are having servers pain

It was overall above average experience. If there is only one thing i could complain about was the lack of wifi availability on my flight from Vancouver to San Francisco

Not much food available, not able to choose seats to be near each other, tv did not work

I think Air Canada is the only airline I've flown where they don't give you at least a free cookie.

All but one of four were on time. One was delayed for an hour

Got the email to check in but when I tried to check in it said "cannot connect to server", so checked in at the desk.

It took 5 hour to get a crew to D Ice the plan. We had to sit on the runway for 5 hrs. in Calgary. It snows most of the winter. No proactive plan. In addition, after 3 calls to customer service they couldn't figure out how to have my wife and myself sit together on her birthday weekend. Everybody kept passing the buck. No decision from customer service, luggage drop off or check in team. The experience was a complete mess! I don't think we'll ever fly on this airline again.

my flight from Toronto to Chicago was horrible. we tried to land 3 times, couldn't. they went to Milwaukee & sat on the plane/runway for another 1.5 hours. then they flew us back to Toronto. we had to stay overnight. the communication was bad. just told us to wait for an email update. no credit, no voucher for my additional night in a hotel. nothing. I will not fly air Canada again.

The wifi I paid for did not work. The seats are tight.

The seats werr comfortable Would like a better snack that a tiny bag of pretzels

There were no free snacks…little pretzel bag or cookies like we had on our flight out.
