FAQs - booking Nova Scotia flights

  • What are good destination cities when I fly from Ottawa to Nova Scotia?

When you fly from Ottawa to Nova Scotia, two primary cities that might be your destination in Nova Scotia are Halifax and Sydney. Halifax is the capital city and a major economic center, located in approximately the center of the southern shore of Nova Scotia. Sydney, on the other hand, is towards the northern tip of Nova Scotia, and a much smaller town. Both of these cities are, however, places where you can board a cruise ship.

  • What airports will I be dealing with when I fly from Ottawa to Nova Scotia?

When you are flying out of Ottawa, you will most likely be departing from the Ottawa McDonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW). This airport serves as a hub for Porter Airlines and a focus city for Air Canada. You may be landing at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) or the J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport (YQY). YHZ serves as a hub for PAL Airlines, Air Canada Express, Zoom Airlines, and Jazz, among others.

  • Are there direct flights from Ottawa to Nova Scotia?

When you fly from Ottawa to Halifax, you'll be able to find a number of direct flights operated by either Porter Airlines or Air Canada. However, it is unlikely that you will find a non-stop flight to Sydney. Flights from Ottawa to Sydney generally have at least one stop in cities such as Toronto and Montreal. The best Ottawa to Sydney flights are generally operated by Air Canada.

  • For my flight from Ottawa to Nova Scotia, is the departure airport kid-friendly?

For those passengers travelling from Ottawa to Nova Scotia with small children, you can take advantage of the Children's Play Area at the Ottawa McDonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW). Located near Gate 19, this indoor playground can distract and entertain your kids as you wait for your trans-Canada flight. It can also help children burn off excess energy before boarding the plane.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Ottawa to Nova Scotia?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Ottawa to Nova Scotia.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from Ottawa to Nova Scotia?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight to Nova Scotia from Ottawa is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from Ottawa to Nova Scotia?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly to Nova Scotia with an airline and back to Ottawa with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Ottawa to Nova Scotia?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying to Nova Scotia from Ottawa up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

Old cabine without flat bed in business for a 12 hour flight is not acceptable

Excellent apart from transport to actual plane 10 minutes from the actual gate , walking out in the tarmac in the rain and having to climb stairs to enter while holding luggage.

Boarding was smooth and on time. The seat was comfortable and the entertainment worked. Staff were gracious.

Everything went smoothly with Air France. There was a delay in departure which seemed to relate to the immigration services being short staffed.

Food could have been better especially the breakfast. Overall it was a good flight

I have used Air France and KLM many times it will help if they change their menu's feel like it's been the same for years!!!, Especially the breakfast. Overall the flight was good and enjoyable.

No birding was given for next trip on same carrier, food was very moderate.

A couple of minor delays in boarding but very professional and efficient staff.

The crew was great and handled our unexpected detour with proactive communication.

My seat was so uncomfortable, and the headrest was broken. Very very disappointing for the price I paid.

Nice smooth flight with pleasant stewards. Slept most of the flight, they could have slowly turned on the lights to make it more pleasant. Otherwise a good trip.

Great! No food was available during the flight due to the catering service strike but snacks were given throughout the flight which was nice.

I wish that seats closer to the front of the plan were available, but when I booked the flight the seats were VERY expensive so I did not book seats at that time. The day before flying only seats at the back of the plane were available. It takes so long to board the plane and empty the plane on arrival due to SO many roller bags.

Crew was rude.didn’t even say hi or welcome to board

Nothing special. Unacceptable wait for baggage on arriving in Calgary

Departure delay on a late night flight. Made us even later. Tired but got home.

Westjet forced me to put my carry-on baggage in check-in probably because I was assigned seat 23A (the last row seat), which had no cabin space, which is unfair. I wanted to carry on my luggage so that I don't have to wait at the airport for my luggage. Also, because there was no cabin space, I was forced to keep my laptop bag under the seat, which I didn't want to as I was carrying 2 laptops and charger. The airline should basically tell people that if you are assigned a last row seat, then you are not allowed a cabin baggage or a personal item.

Easy processing, flight time was quick and staff was professional and kind.

It was delayed by two ours very full no room to move

They seem to have squeezed out a little more legroom in these planes! It was very nice to not have to fold in half to fit in the seats!

The ride was good but no food ot entertainment hence, it was just over an hour flight.

Two flights, both poor. No entertainment. Cramped and uncomfortable seats, little space, the rest was OK. Staff were acceptable good.

The crew was doing their best on an old plane needing updating. Chairs that creaked and wouldn’t stay in position. My tray table was unusable as was on-board entertainment due the audio needing usb earphones (that were not provided). Prior to boarding in Toronto and despite being scheduled for a wheelchair and assistance, we were dropped off by clubcar without a wheelchair which I found myself by a gate. Due to no boarding gate assigned at that time we waited and when it was, it subsequently was moved from 64 to 95. No help could be found so I pushed my husband’s chair to that furthest gate in the airport at the highest speed possible for a 73 year old. And by that I mean I ran. It was a very stressful experience.

Wifi wasn't working on one of the UA flights after boarding.

Crew was not very helpful. They forgot to serve me coffee and had to wait for a long time.It looked as if they were not very happy with what they were doing.

The flight I was connecting with waited for me even though my 1st flight was late. I really appreciated that.

Aircraft has better leg room than any of United's larger planes. We had requested mobility assistance for this and related flights. United's response to all was superb.

No snacks served! Seating in the kast row in uncomfortable.

The seat is too hard and my back and bottom are having servers pain

There was no lounge for passengers waiting before boarding the aircraft at F65, so passengers are just sitting on the floor or just spread everywhere the premises before boarding.

My wife and I especially liked the fact that the Toronto agent went beyond expectation to allow my wife and I to sit together. There was no option for us when we booked our seats. Very thankful!

The boarding was fine , staff nice. Seats are always so awful on every plane. They need to make more room for passengers. Although Air north does not have televisions,, every airline should model the experience of flying with them. . Small meal , drinks, and a warm cookie. It’s a lovely airline with very friendly staff and I always look forward to flying with them.

The flight is very short, may be a little snack can be offered

Well you cancelled our direct flight to Austin from Toronto granted you got us on another flight but sent us to Denver then onto Austin delaying our arrival time in Austin by 7 hrs I was flying with 3 other people none of us were happy with our Air Canada experience

Terrible experience. Air canada is the worst and Kayak website is also not transparent.

My flight was great but my inbound flight from Toronto to Sault st Marir delayed more than 2 hours and we had to change the airoplan.

This was a fraudulent transaction. Kayak was at fault for accepting a stolen credit card. Kayak needs to change their verification process.

Airport staff super friendly. Even put us on an earlier flight because we arrived early.

It went well until they lost my baggage in Toronto. Bagging tracking stopped after my bag was unloaded in Toronto. My bag tag has been inactive since. I had over a 2 hour layover and there is no excuse for lost baggage with that time frame and only after one flight

I really didn't flight from Toronto to Sydney Because my flight was cancelled for the snow But you guys help me lot and put me in the flight from Toronto to Halifax I give you at 10/10 because was really good Just I had to drive 4 hours to be home

Try to humanize onboarding and take AI out. It's embarrassing and useless

Overall great flight experience- on time, lots of food and movies.

no kiosks to check in with- it’s 2024!!! the flight was so hot and uncomfortable - not sure if that’s what caused a lady to faint during the flight but i was absolutely miserable.

We were helped whenever needed and had a pleasant flight.

Air Canada from Edmonton to Toronto was disappointing but Lufthansa from Toronto to Frankfurt was excellent.

I ended up buying (for $340) "extra space" seats because I my flying partner was given a STY boarding pass, leading me to conclude that she was on standby and that we had to buy seats on the flight. I later learned that the flight was not sold out and that we could have gotten on as usual. To be honest, I felt swindled.

I'm Canaadian. I hate Air Canada. I used to give them a pass on their international service. No longer, They suck across the board now! Old planes, exhausted staff bad food and shitty entertainment. Your seats need reupholstered! Start with that...

I'm Canadian. I have the unfortunate experience of pretty not having the choice to fly with them. THEY ARE TERRIBLE.

bad seats, meager food quantity. bread not fresh. Hollywood films lack entertainment.

Great flight. Left on time, not very crowded. Quiet and the right temperature.
