FAQs - booking Colombia flights

  • Can I fly directly from Toronto to Colombia?

Yes. Several airlines offer direct flights to Colombia from Toronto. Most of these direct flights depart from YYZ and are available on a daily basis to various airports in Colombia. For example, Avianca and Air Canada offer direct flights from Toronto to BOG.

  • Are airports in Colombia accessible?

Yes, most of the international airports that receive flights on this route are accessible facilities. For example, all airlines flying through BOG provide wheelchair assistance services to passengers with limited mobility. Passengers can request for wheelchair assistance through their airlines when booking their flights. Passengers who'll be bringing their wheelchairs should also inform their airline before their travel. The airports also offer accessible ground transportation, accessible bathrooms, and stair-free movement options.

  • Is it better to fly out from Toronto Pearson or Billy Bishop Airport?

Flights to Colombia from Toronto depart from either YYZ or Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ). Of the two airports, YYZ serves the most flights on this route. Therefore booking your flight to this airport not only gives you more flights to choose from but also gives you higher chances of getting direct flights on this route. On the other hand, YTZ is usually less busy meaning you are less likely to get stuck in queues.

  • Do I need a visa to visit Colombia from Toronto?

Canadian citizens can enter and stay in Colombia visa-free for a period of up to 90 days. However, you must be a holder of a Canadian passport which must remain valid throughout your stay in Colombia. If you’re a dual citizen (Colombian and Canadian), you will be required to use your Colombian ID and Colombian passport when entering or leaving the country.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Toronto to Colombia?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Toronto to Colombia.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from Toronto to Colombia?

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from Toronto to Colombia?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly to Colombia with an airline and back to Toronto with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Toronto to Colombia?

Top tips for finding cheap flights to Colombia

  • Morning departure is around 5% cheaper than an evening flight, on average*.
  • El Dorado International Airport (BOG) is the main gateway into Colombia. The airport serves the greater Bogota area and is by far the most important and busiest airport in the country. Therefore, most flights to Colombia from Toronto usually arrive at this airport.
  • BOG serves as a hub for Avianca, LATAM Colombia, Copa Airlines, EasyFly, Helicol, SATENA, Wingo, AerCaribe, and Aerosucre and is a focus city for Ultra Air. Thus when flying to BOG from Toronto, you will find that most flights are offered by these airlines.
  • When flying from Toronto to Colombia, you will most likely fly out from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). The airport is in Mississauga and is the main facility that serves the Toronto metropolis and the neighbouring regions.
  • YYZ is about 22.5 km from the city center of Toronto. The airport is the main hub for Air Canada while it is also a hub for West Jet and an operating base for Air Transat and Sunwing. Therefore when flying out or into YYZ, you are most likely to use one of these airlines.
  • If you're headed to regions around Western Colombia, plan your flight to Jose Maria Cordova International Airport (MDE). Though two airports handle flights to this area, MDE stands out as it handles most of the flights from Toronto. Therefore you will have more flight options to choose from when flying to this airport.

Very good, despite we had a delay because of some problems at the airport.

I liked the friendliness of the crew and comfortable flight. All good.

Pros: "Boarding was organized"
Cons: "They didn’t turn on AC until we landed in Lima, during bording they were hurrying people to get on their seats fast"
Pros: "No drink because didn’t open de bottle. No one care about it."
Pros: "good crew, food was okay."
Cons: "really uncomfortable seats, too small for an international flight. couldn't lean back because the guy behind me was tall, so my back was hurting the entire time."
Pros: "Crew was excellent, one snarky attendant—sent me back to my seat, then two other folks went on to get in line for restroom. I didn’t appreciate her tone with me. Just sayin"
Cons: "The seats are not comfortable for a long flight. They light up pain on my tailbone. I sat on my neck pillow from time to time to get relief."
Cons: "If we were not forced to pass through Costumes and take our Luggages and go through security again, although we were in transit for couple of hours only. I lost my pierce and no one helped"
Pros: "The crew was excellent"
Cons: "My tailbone aches from the seat. Other friends who flew Copa Airline had the same experience. Friends on other airlines had no complaints. I need a donut cushion on the seat."
Pros: "Everything was ok except for the body odor seated next to me."
Cons: "person next to me had bad body odor and urinated in the seat. Was on a 7 hr flight trying to avoid the smell. The caretaker of the person didn’t care about the uterine in the seat that I brought to her attention. The man seated in front of me complained about the odor and pointed also noticed the uterine in the seat. I accidentally put this info in the comments on my flight from medellin to panama. This took place on this flight."
Pros: "The crew was amazing."
Cons: "A better movie and the check in was grueling. They did not have enough staff and one person spent 30 minutes helping someone repack at the check-in desk while we all waited. Pretty unacceptable."

They offered food. The crew passed by again offering water. I enjoyed the two seating section. I think is very comfortable instead of the three seat way, unless you seat in the middle; which it's not bad, but I wouldn't prefer. All and all, I think the lay out of the seating rows are better than other airlines so far( I haven't tried many anyways). The lay out makes the getting in and out to use the restroom less uncomfortable and cramped. First time flying with Latam. I will fly with them again

I didn't realize they didn't have bathrooms on the plane. Almost had a very bad situation.

It was confusing because I got a notification that my gate was changed when in reality it wasn’t

I missed my plane because there was a lot of people during the migration process. The airline has the chance to care for their clients and they could get the passengers missing in the flight. I lost a day of work and Montfort transportation to go back home and go to the airport again. Unfortunately the airline doesn’t care about that. I use latam at least 4 times a year, so I guess I need to be treat better. In addition, one on my baggages didyarricw to my destination. So frustrated with this trip.

No air in the middle rows. Had a hard time breathing. Was dying of heat.

Not very good, they nickel & dime you for better seats & pay extra for the checking in bag, bad service all the way around

Awful, horrible customer service. Flight got delayed and had to spend y the night in Bogota as a result. Very poor

Hostile flight attendants. Second flight with Jose so much better. Arrived 1/2 hour early. Thanks.

the flight from Boston to Curitiba was on time actually 30 minutes earlier. latam was not able to unload the luggage for custom checkup in Sao Paulo ii took two and half hours . i missed the flight to Curitiba spend the night in hotel and then flying in the morning to Curitiba

Tough flight with turbulence… I was told by a fellow passenger that it is common. Nonetheless, very stressful. Cordial staff.

The personal at the front desk in Manaos was awesome, I have never experience anything like that before, the person who attended me deserves to have a promotion I still remember him, very educated, kind but overall he could put himself on your position

More than 3 hours of delay and not even a snack was given.

GOL made the flight experience a true delight. Everything was smooth, from the check in process, to the disembarking moment.

There was absolutely no food or drink service unless it was paid for. I am not used to this.

No complimentary food and beverage (water, soda, coffe) is offered for a six and a half hours long international flight, not even in premium economy, just to try to squeeze a few more dollars out of the passengers. First and last time flying with Avianca.

No complimentary food and beverage (water, soda, coffe) is offered for a six and a half hours long international flight, not even in premium economy, just to try to squeeze a few more dollars out of the passengers. Same happened in the connecting flight, which was three and a half hours long (Bogota x Miami). First and last time flying with Avianca.

No complimentary snacks food, beverage (not even water), pillow and blanket on a 6 hours long flight (including economy comfort). A low form of nickeling an diming. Lost a recurring passanger over a soda. Avianca never again.

Every food and beverage has to be paid and the seat was not confortable. They even gave water.

Flight departure late. Got late in Colombia making us take a different flight next day. Avianca airport crew messed up my ticket so when a I got in Brazil I didn’t have a ticket for my destination. Had to buy a new ticket out of my pocket.

Avianca: you pay for a high-end flight and you fly like a low (very low) cost!

The 6 hour delay with minimal updates was not handled well. After many complaints from most of the un-boarded passengers, food vouchers were offered. The catering strike meant there was no food or snacks on the plane. Beverage service was heavily impacted, only water or juice was available. The staff at the gate was kind enough to inform that "if you want to eat on the plane, you will need to bring it on when boarding".

It was an excellent experience, traveling from Toronto to Denver with United.

Ontime boarding. Almost 1 hour take off delay. We could have boarded slightly later since the pilots were in traffic

I go am isle seat because it was half empty Food strike no food available

Flight was delayed, jeopardizing the following connections. Food was terrible. Crew was great.

This was the first AC flight in a long time that we experienced no delays or frustrations. The gate attendant was extremely polite and accommodating to my husband who has Parkinson’s disease which made boarding extremely stress free. Flight departed ON TIME and was a smooth ride. If only all my AC experiences could be like this.

Great experience on this Air Canada flight. Everyone was polite and respectful, even the passengers are very polite.

My wife and I especially liked the fact that the Toronto agent went beyond expectation to allow my wife and I to sit together. There was no option for us when we booked our seats. Very thankful!

I didn’t like the fact that all the customs officers went to lunch so I was in line for 90 minutes due to where the staff directed me. We were told three very different reasons for why the plane was delayed. It was a crowded plane with difficult storage situations for the Carry On bags. The Air Canada airline staff were all very good and professional. I was so disappointed in my cheese and fruit box as the cheese had molded and the fruit wasn’t fresh so I couldn’t eat the majority of the food. This was the last meal I could find as the restaurants had closed when I got in to my destination. I think you could work on improving the food quality.

Once again my complaint is how close the seats are together. Also, the bathrooms were not very clean by the second half of the flight.

Entertainment catalog certainly needs an upgrade to include better and latest content. Food was not good at all - they need to cook something edible. Five starts to the crew and on tim performance of British airways though!!

The boarding process was a disaster. No one respects the boarding groups—tired old aeroplane. There are no sockets to charge phones. The cushion seats are ancient and hurts back and gluts

Check in process was unfamiliar. While receiving assistance the employees supervisor berated him for not walking the area. Lucky for us, he ignored her and helped us check in. Did not know about the baggage fees with economy basic and spent 450 GBP (nearly$600) just on bags for a total of less than 2 hours flying time (50 minutes one way) on a round trip lasting less than 3 days. Customers check their own bags at kiosk and place on conveyor themselves. No reason for such an high cost of checking bags when customers do half the work. Some destinations it’s unavoidable, but will definitely seek other airlines before British Airways for future travel. Astronomically high price for bags. Our first experience flying British Airways and very, very disappointed. Completely overpriced for the services we received.

Having traveled from Canada through Seattle -London-Edinburgh with only carry on ( to keep trip uncomplicated ) We had to check our hand luggage at the gate as flight was full This was really annoying since due to their late flight in from Seattle we’d missed our orginal flight to Edinburgh and had been put on a flight four hours later We had no checked luggage with no need to go to the baggage carousel Very annoying

Quick boarding Clean aircraft Departure delayed but landed early Evening wrap was very good, breakfast was okay.

When bussing people to/from the gate, don't pack everyone in like a can of sardines and don't send the bus on its way if the plane isn't ready. Waited for about 40 minutes packed in this bus...both ways!

The flight was delayed numerous times with inconsistent updates and very ambiguous information. When it was finally cancelled the logistics of handing out vouchers and rebooking was extremely chaotic. Meal vouchers were completely inadequate for the airport restaurants, and not even accepted at some. All-in-all, it was a very disappointing experience.

4 hour technical delay. Cancelled second meal. Crew and flight were great.

Seat layout, flight/club attendant service, food variety and quality could have been better. Business class Standard is visibly low compared with 6 other airlines that we have traveled for the past two years.

The flight itself was great… the only problem for me was the flight delayed both departure & connection.. instead of the 26 hrs (long enough) was an additional 4 hours more that took an aim to my body..other than that I’m pleased.
