Top tips for finding cheap flights to Illinois

  • Morning departure is around 15% cheaper than an evening flight, on average*.
  • To get from Toronto to Illinois, you will need to go through Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). A number of airlines, including Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta, and United, can help you reach Illinois from this airport. However, you will also need to give thought to which airport in Illinois you would like to fly to since there will be a few options. Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) and Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) will be two of the main ones to consider.
  • If you don’t mind making a stop between Toronto and Illinois, you’re welcome to choose a flight that includes a layover. But since Toronto and Illinois aren’t that far apart, a better option will be taking a direct flight. Most of the direct flights from Toronto Pearson International Airport will only take about two hours. You’ll like taking a flight like this as opposed to one with a layover that could subject you to more than 10 hours of travel time.
  • Since flying from Toronto to Illinois shouldn’t take too long, you might be okay with booking a seat in economy class. But once you do this, you should look out for any special deals that airlines might offer on first-class upgrades. You may be able to track down a first-class ticket that won’t cost much more than your economy ticket.
  • Whether you’re going to Illinois for business or pleasure, you should pack lightly when you know you’ll be headed there. Most airlines are going to charge you around $30 to check a bag, and if you want to check more than one of them, you could be looking at spending about $50 per bag. If you’re able to make your way to Illinois with only a carry-on bag, it’ll help keep your travel costs under control.
  • The funny part about flying from Toronto to Illinois is that you’ll usually spend more time waiting in the airport for your flight than you will on your flight itself. You should plan to arrive at Toronto Pearson International Airport two to three hours ahead of time for this international flight. But you can keep yourself occupied by visiting one of the lounges in YYZ, such as Air Canada’s Maple Leaf Lounge, with any extra time you may have before boarding.

Not very comfortable seated in the back plane due to turbulence

I enjoyed flying on Korean Air. The service was great and the food was yummy. They served white fish.

I enjoyed flying on Korean Air. The service was great and the food was yummy, especially the bibimbap and cold spicy noodles. The only thing that bummed me out on this red-eye flight was that my seat did not properly recline so I was not able to sleep.

Ford not that great the seat not to big for leg room like other airline

Crew was ok, but some passengers were a bit rude. Again, all outlets were not working, only the really slow charging usb plug on the entertainment system. Entertainment system was also bugged, some features just crash, the touch screen wasn't working and when trying to watch a movie the onscreen display kept flashing off and on making it very difficult to watch.

It was ok. Not good and not a bad experience

not too bad but not too great either. Service on all airlines declined ever since covid. Your Delta Stewardess are not that friendly at all. :-(

I like your stewardess, they are nice. However, your food could have been better and wheres your dessert? You do not offer beer or scotch. I do not drink alcohol biut my husband can have one or two, he has to ask if he can have one. during dinner or lunch, it should be offerred. Also, you do not have the most famous drinks ginger ale

Stewardess are nice. Food could have been better and should have a better dessert. They do not offer scotch or beer. You have to ask for it. I also was not happy that you do not serve ginger ale and or cranberry juice. This is my first time that an international flight do not have this. I go home overseas every year and when I travel through ANA, Delta, Qatar, JAL, Asiana Air, United Air. they all serve this two very famous drink. You do not have a great snack tray.

Not accommodating ground staff On board slow service Crew members not very friendly

Very comfortable Prem economy seats for a long haul flight. Had a problem with the tv that the crew fixed so was great!

Cathay Pacific seems to be an airline in trouble and on its way out. Lots of broken or poorly functioning things like entertainment screens, seats, and enough well trained staff to handle a full flight. Sad...

Excellent. Planes are a little older and could get some refurbishment, but besides that everything was excellent.

we were upgraded which was a blessing and tender mercy for us. I fell the day before and was in extreme pain from knee to shoulder. Sitting in a more comfortable seat during the flight was an unexpected blessing and experience.

Very poor check-in experience, and flight meal service was very disappointing with no drinks service or hot meal.

Not impressed with check in desk staff at Vancouver airport. Not a professional mind service and not cared or tried to help. Don’t think I would fly with them again

I felt thirsty and asked the flight attendent for water, but no one came for more than half an hour.

The crew were fine. I didn’t enjoy the food at all. I found it unappetising and really had trouble eating it. The comfort level was fine and our return flight is with Cathay Pacific but honestly I probably wouldn’t fly Cathay Pacific again.

Everything went smooth. All flights were on time No changing gates, . No changing flights . It was like a completely different airlines tha n the last time I used Cathay Pacific . The last flight, 2 months ago, I had before this one was from Philippines also . I got changed in Manila and was told it only added 2 hours onto my flight . My 20 hour return trip ended up being 30 hours return with a 10.0 hour layover in New York with no seats anywhere . Everyone was sleeping or sitting on the floor . Unlike the hotel I was given in Manila to wait for this flight home . I never thought I would use Cathay Pacific again . But I did and this time you were great! I should have complained about the flight and layover from Hell a couple months ago. Consider that I am complaining about that august/23 flight now . Thank you got the great flying experience on my way home from philippines .

We requested special assistance and Cathay Pacific provided it in Sydney, but we were completely forgotten about in Hong Kong - when we really needed the help to catch our connecting flight. Really disappointing service.

Nice smooth flight with pleasant stewards. Slept most of the flight, they could have slowly turned on the lights to make it more pleasant. Otherwise a good trip.

Great! No food was available during the flight due to the catering service strike but snacks were given throughout the flight which was nice.

I wish that seats closer to the front of the plan were available, but when I booked the flight the seats were VERY expensive so I did not book seats at that time. The day before flying only seats at the back of the plane were available. It takes so long to board the plane and empty the plane on arrival due to SO many roller bags.

Crew was rude.didn’t even say hi or welcome to board

Nothing special. Unacceptable wait for baggage on arriving in Calgary

Departure delay on a late night flight. Made us even later. Tired but got home.

Westjet forced me to put my carry-on baggage in check-in probably because I was assigned seat 23A (the last row seat), which had no cabin space, which is unfair. I wanted to carry on my luggage so that I don't have to wait at the airport for my luggage. Also, because there was no cabin space, I was forced to keep my laptop bag under the seat, which I didn't want to as I was carrying 2 laptops and charger. The airline should basically tell people that if you are assigned a last row seat, then you are not allowed a cabin baggage or a personal item.

Easy processing, flight time was quick and staff was professional and kind.

It was delayed by two ours very full no room to move

They seem to have squeezed out a little more legroom in these planes! It was very nice to not have to fold in half to fit in the seats!

It was good! Appreciated that it was very on schedule so it made the connecting flight less stressful

Two flights, both poor. No entertainment. Cramped and uncomfortable seats, little space, the rest was OK. Staff were acceptable good.

I was told we'd have a hot breakfast option in first class, so I chose not get a hot breakfast. It was a very strange meal, but the fresh fruit was very good quality. Service was excellent from ORD to ELP. No service from MBS to ORD, not even water. However, when flying American from FNT to ORD, which is a shorter flight, they at least pass out snacks and offer water.

We were delayed an hour leaving Munich (No fault of the crew). They kept us posted on the status so we knew what was going on, but as a result we missed our connection in Chicago and the communication on connecting flights was pretty poor as we disembarked. It was already stressful and some of that could have been reduced by better communications about where to find transfers, etc.

One problem, but a serious one - the plane is built with electric windows that tint dark to reduce light. Sitting next to the window is VERY UNCOMFORTABLE as it emits so much HEAT in the face when tinted.

The delays (5 hrs) were a comedy of errors, and the multiple safety issues encountered were very concerning.

The crew was doing their best on an old plane needing updating. Chairs that creaked and wouldn’t stay in position. My tray table was unusable as was on-board entertainment due the audio needing usb earphones (that were not provided). Prior to boarding in Toronto and despite being scheduled for a wheelchair and assistance, we were dropped off by clubcar without a wheelchair which I found myself by a gate. Due to no boarding gate assigned at that time we waited and when it was, it subsequently was moved from 64 to 95. No help could be found so I pushed my husband’s chair to that furthest gate in the airport at the highest speed possible for a 73 year old. And by that I mean I ran. It was a very stressful experience.

Wifi wasn't working on one of the UA flights after boarding.

The flight was delayed instead of leaving at 11 it left at 12.20

United WiFi is consistently unusable (it can take 10 mins to load a single web page). If you need Wifi to do work, be prepared to lose half a day of productivity.

Limited snack options cause the snack vendor was on strike

It was an excellent experience, traveling from Toronto to Denver with United.

Ontime boarding. Almost 1 hour take off delay. We could have boarded slightly later since the pilots were in traffic

This was the first AC flight in a long time that we experienced no delays or frustrations. The gate attendant was extremely polite and accommodating to my husband who has Parkinson’s disease which made boarding extremely stress free. Flight departed ON TIME and was a smooth ride. If only all my AC experiences could be like this.

I didn’t like the fact that all the customs officers went to lunch so I was in line for 90 minutes due to where the staff directed me. We were told three very different reasons for why the plane was delayed. It was a crowded plane with difficult storage situations for the Carry On bags. The Air Canada airline staff were all very good and professional. I was so disappointed in my cheese and fruit box as the cheese had molded and the fruit wasn’t fresh so I couldn’t eat the majority of the food. This was the last meal I could find as the restaurants had closed when I got in to my destination. I think you could work on improving the food quality.

Once again my complaint is how close the seats are together. Also, the bathrooms were not very clean by the second half of the flight.

Excellent in flight service, perhaps the best we've ever had. Business class feels tired and needs improvement to compete with other airlines. The food looked good but tasted terrible. Check in was quick, the flight arrived early and our luggage was on our flight with us.

The staff were so kind and helpful. We flew back from NY with another airline and it was horrible. We will always stick with Air Canada as everything was far better!

The boarding process in Toronto bad as they share space with domestic flights and when those domestic flights come in you are locked out behind closed doors until they are done and then its a mad rush to get your boarding gates and board. This is not so much due to Air Canada but with the GTAA, but Air Canada could use different gates especially early morning in order to prevent such travel angst.

Terrible quality wifi and they charge a lot for it. They nickel and dime you for everything.
