FAQs - booking Jamaica flights

  • What documentation do I need in order to fly to Jamaica?

As a Canadian citizen, you must have a valid passport to enter Jamaica. Alternatively, you could also have a photo ID issued by the government and your birth certificate. Regardless of which kind of identification you present, you must also have a return or onward ticket from Jamaica. You do not need a visa if you plan to leave Jamaica within 180 days.

  • Does either Toronto airport have private facilities for nursing moms?

The Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) provides Mamava suites both landside and airside in the airport. These freestanding fiberglass units provide privacy for nursing mothers who would like to sit down out of the hustle and bustle of the airport in order to take care of their infant. The units even have some room for other small children and luggage. Billy Bishop Airport has no facilities specifically designated to give nursing moms some privacy.

  • Does either Toronto airport have exclusive lounges where I can wait, even if I am flying with an economy ticket?

Yes. At Toronto Pearson, you can pay to enter the exclusive Plaza Premium Lounge, which has locations in Terminals1 and 3. In T1, you can purchase a pass for the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge if you are flying Air Canada. In T3, you can pay at the door to access the American Airlines Admirals Club if you are flying on American.

  • Can I fly to other destinations in the Caribbean from the Montego Bay airport?

Yes. From the Montego Bay airport, you can book an Airlink flight to Negril or an Inter-Caribbean Airways flight to Kingston. If you want to travel off-island, you can take Cayman Airways to Grand Cayman or Inter-Caribbean Airways to the Caicos Islands.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Toronto to Jamaica?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Toronto to Jamaica.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from Toronto to Jamaica?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight to Jamaica from Toronto is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from Toronto to Jamaica?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly to Jamaica with an airline and back to Toronto with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Toronto to Jamaica?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying to Jamaica from Toronto up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

Check in online did not offer checked baggage option but was fine to do it at airport. Not sure what if any on board entertainment options there were-an instruction card would help. Never flew with you before but would happily do so again.

I surprisingly have no recommendations. My first flying with Canada Jetlines and I will definitely fly again!!

Great new airline. LOVE the fact that carry-on baggage is no-charge. They weren’t picky about carry on size like some of the US ultra low cost carriers can be. You got a drink, no snack. They boarded “old school” from back of the plane to the front which I have always been a big fan of. Flights were on time. I am 6’ and I had enough legroom (although I was in an aisle seat as I always am). No issues and loved the flight and the price. Will be a return customer.

Check in with as long, especially considering we did not have any checked bags

While the flight left on time, the experience afterwards was terrible. Starting with the flight attendants who were very unprofessional (there were times during the flight when I felt the crew was hiding from the passengers at the front and back of the plane chatting amongst themselves) and had very poor communication skills. All announcements over the intercom were poorly delivered and many passengers were left confused on what was said. To top this off, the airline left my checked-in luggage at my departure city and I've been calling/emailing their customer service representatives ("CSR") who show no empathy or urgency to address my situation. First off, I have an Airtag on my luggage and when I told them that the luggage was left behind, they didn't believe me and tried to convince me that it wasn't missing. During my subsequent communications over the phone with the CSR staff, I go on to find out that the staff that monitors emails and phones are completely separate and unable to communicate with each other. After I've emailed/called, I was promised that their airport staff will contact me right away. It has been over 24 hrs and I still haven't gotten a call/email. I have made subsequent inquiries over the phone regarding the status of this call and the CSR cannot tell me. Luckily, my luggage has since arrived at my destination (on a subsequent flight) but now it is just sitting in the airport. I'm praying that this will be dealt with soon after which, I will never fly this airline ever again.

I Had very bad experience for rental car company nu rep and charged me for insurance , already had it

I loved the crew's professionalism. The landing was unbelievably smooth, haven't experienced that in years

Their system was slow so it took them well over 4 hours to complete checkin but they kept assuring us that the flight won’t leave without all the passengers as it’s their fault but at the end of 4th hour then tell us that the immigration will close for the night and the last few of us are left stranded behind. The customer service itnay open at night. The airlines does have its own crew at Toronto airport so no one to help us.

Great first experience, I will definitely be flying again as soon as I can. No online check in was a bit nerve-wracking with a newer airline, and it was a bit disorganized at the airport check in but I've definitely experienced way worse with the major airlines. I arrived 2.5 hours early and had tons of time. Looking forward to new routes!

Cons: "Can’t be that I’ll pay a full price for the flight and get a seat that will not decline back. Especially if I’m longer than 6 ft. It was a horrible flight with a crew that didn’t want to do anything to help except from saying “it is what it is”"

Super unproffesional flight . Flight attendants were unproffesional. I could hear them gossiping about theor boyfriends the whole trip

The connecting flight lay over was 4.00 hours, the gate agent booked me on the next flight which was about to depart at no extra cost.

The ticket price was reasonable, food was okay, not the best. I would use the service again.

Actually the flight was on time. New plane, food was okay but not great.

Old plane, hard seats, 1.30 hours delay, while seating on the plane waiting for departure.

Great boarding. Everything was on time. Plane was a bit old and the crew could have provided better drink service.

Boarding was a little chaotic but it was a very large flight. It just wasn’t fast. And there was no noticeable difference between zones boarding.

Crew was pleasant. Aircraft was very dated and uncomfortable for our nearly 4 hour flight. We were in row 17 and they ran out of purchasable food by the time they got to us.

We were lucky enough to arrive at the right time. The staff at YYZ did our complete check in and luggage tags for us. Even made sure we knew where we were to head next and how to get there. It truly was one of the best and easiest check inside. Thanks team.

Compagnie efficace et bons prix. Les sièges en classe club pourraient être plus confortables.

Nice smooth flight with pleasant stewards. Slept most of the flight, they could have slowly turned on the lights to make it more pleasant. Otherwise a good trip.

Great! No food was available during the flight due to the catering service strike but snacks were given throughout the flight which was nice.

I wish that seats closer to the front of the plan were available, but when I booked the flight the seats were VERY expensive so I did not book seats at that time. The day before flying only seats at the back of the plane were available. It takes so long to board the plane and empty the plane on arrival due to SO many roller bags.

Crew was rude.didn’t even say hi or welcome to board

Nothing special. Unacceptable wait for baggage on arriving in Calgary

Departure delay on a late night flight. Made us even later. Tired but got home.

Westjet forced me to put my carry-on baggage in check-in probably because I was assigned seat 23A (the last row seat), which had no cabin space, which is unfair. I wanted to carry on my luggage so that I don't have to wait at the airport for my luggage. Also, because there was no cabin space, I was forced to keep my laptop bag under the seat, which I didn't want to as I was carrying 2 laptops and charger. The airline should basically tell people that if you are assigned a last row seat, then you are not allowed a cabin baggage or a personal item.

Easy processing, flight time was quick and staff was professional and kind.

It was delayed by two ours very full no room to move

They seem to have squeezed out a little more legroom in these planes! It was very nice to not have to fold in half to fit in the seats!

The 6 hour delay with minimal updates was not handled well. After many complaints from most of the un-boarded passengers, food vouchers were offered. The catering strike meant there was no food or snacks on the plane. Beverage service was heavily impacted, only water or juice was available. The staff at the gate was kind enough to inform that "if you want to eat on the plane, you will need to bring it on when boarding".

It was an excellent experience, traveling from Toronto to Denver with United.

Ontime boarding. Almost 1 hour take off delay. We could have boarded slightly later since the pilots were in traffic

I go am isle seat because it was half empty Food strike no food available

Flight was delayed, jeopardizing the following connections. Food was terrible. Crew was great.

This was the first AC flight in a long time that we experienced no delays or frustrations. The gate attendant was extremely polite and accommodating to my husband who has Parkinson’s disease which made boarding extremely stress free. Flight departed ON TIME and was a smooth ride. If only all my AC experiences could be like this.

Great experience on this Air Canada flight. Everyone was polite and respectful, even the passengers are very polite.

My wife and I especially liked the fact that the Toronto agent went beyond expectation to allow my wife and I to sit together. There was no option for us when we booked our seats. Very thankful!

I didn’t like the fact that all the customs officers went to lunch so I was in line for 90 minutes due to where the staff directed me. We were told three very different reasons for why the plane was delayed. It was a crowded plane with difficult storage situations for the Carry On bags. The Air Canada airline staff were all very good and professional. I was so disappointed in my cheese and fruit box as the cheese had molded and the fruit wasn’t fresh so I couldn’t eat the majority of the food. This was the last meal I could find as the restaurants had closed when I got in to my destination. I think you could work on improving the food quality.

Once again my complaint is how close the seats are together. Also, the bathrooms were not very clean by the second half of the flight.

It's good value for the price. Snacks are available for a price but there is no meal. The flight was aboutr 40 mn late leaving, and the gate was not ready for the plaine in Ottawa. That took an extra 15 mn once landed. You can use the express NEXUS line at Customs in Ottawa if you have a NEXUS card. I thought it was worth paying an extra $50 for extra leg room on the flight.

Good flight and all but airlines are now moving away from providing anything as part of the flight which was previously included, ie in flight entertainment service or snacks.

The real problem with Sunwing is that they are totally undependable. Plane was supposed to heave at 8:20 pm from Varadero to Toronto. Instead because of delays on their part, finally left at 2:30 AM Same thing happened a few days back to my family whereby they were delayed one full day. Throughout the process, no one told them anything. They found out by accident from another passenger after waiting a few hours in the hotel all for nothing Same thing happened with my daughter and husband last year with delays which caused them to miss two days of s much needed 7 days break to Aruba No matter what the cost, I will nit fly Sunwing again and also encourage friends and values to never fly this hihh highly problematic airline

Edreams did not pay the airline and I had to buy another ticket to be able to travel and they still have not refunded my money

Why do I have to pay $20 to leave the airport? Why do I have to pay $25 for the carry on? This was my worst travelling experiences ever. This was my second time and my last time

Minimal service (no entertainment or snack) as advertised, so be prepared. Very friendly flight crew and staff. Excellent service all around

Most standard features are now to be paid as extra

I bought a 1-way ticket from Punta Cana home to Canada, surprise, when I got to the lineup at the airport Sunwing charges a 20 USD airport tax separately. I was told I should have known, though it is the only airline in the terminal that charges it (separately, USD only, no cards or local currency accepted). ATMs at the airport out of service, nowhere to purchase USD on-site. Local banks do not sell you USD if you don't have an account with them... Eventually I found a taxi driver to buy the currency from. Luckily I speak Spanish and am comfortable in the country on my own. I was able to find a solution as the Nexus greeter for Sunwing offered no help. Other Sunwing team members and flight crew I met later were much more helpful when I could not complete self-check-in (flying with carry-on only) as all the seats were locked and apparently could only be assigned at the desk (despite the greeter telling me to use the self-check-in).

Due to the onboard check on system malfunction, we were getting conflicting messages about the flight status. Found it very interesting that kayak gave us updates before the Sunwing app or representatives did.

Was not allowed to board because my KAYAK purchased ticket was declined / invalidated. DO NOT USE KAYAK.
