Sydney’s first Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras was held on June 24, 1978, as a way to honour the anniversary of the Stonewall riots in New York in 1969.

This year’s Human Rights Conference will be the largest of its kind ever held in the Asia Pacific region.

Sydney World Pride marks the first of its kind to be hosted in the Southern Hemisphere.

The organisers of Sydney World Pride acknowledge and honour that this year’s events will take place on the lands of the Gadigal, Cammeraygal, Bidjigal, Darug and Dharawal people.
