The Bahamas entry details and exceptions

The government of The Bahamas have introduced mandatory health visa and insurance procedures and mandatory testing for visitors, nationals and residents entering The Bahamas. The orders which set this out are available on the Prime Minister’s website and on the Tourism Ministry’s website. The rules are subject to change at short notice. Visitors entering must follow the mandatory requirements for entering The Bahamas.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from Canada must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 120 hours before departing to The Bahamas.

Exceptions

This testing requirement does not apply to: -Fully vaccinated visitors who have passed the 2 week immunity period traveling to the Bahamas or inter-island; -Travelers aged 10 years and under.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from Canada will need to quarantine for days upon entering The Bahamas.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travelers returning from The Bahamas must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to Canada.

Exceptions

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test, other exemptions includes, a crew member or a person who seeks to enter Canada only to become such a crew member, emergency service providers, technical stops – flights refueling.

Travelers are required to take a COVID-19 test on arrival in Canada at their own expense. Travelers are also required to take another COVID-19 molecular test on day 8 of their 14-day quarantine. They will receive a COVID-19 test kit and instructions before leaving the airport/border. Those who refuse will receive a $750 fine.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from The Bahamas will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering Canada.

Details and exceptions

Travelers are subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine, this includes a mandatory 3 night pre-paid booking at a government-authorized hotel, at their own expense (approximately 2,000 CAD) and take a COVID-19 molecular test on arrival at their own cost.

Towards the end the quarantine period, travelers will be required to take another COVID-19 test. they will be required to stay in their place of quarantine until they receive a negative test result.

Certain persons are exempt from the mandatory quarantine requirement when entering Canada for the purposes of performing an essential job or function as identified in the Order under the Quarantine Act. Exemption will be validated for each entry into Canada.
