#5 long weekend road trip

Alberta

You’re going to love Jasper National Park

Pack some snacks and get ready for a drive. The 3.5-hour trip from Edmonton to Jasper National Park is a fairly straight shot down Yellowhead Highway, past miles of farmland, old industrial towns and forest. But once you reach the outskirts of Jasper, natural hot springs, miles of trails and exciting wildlife will reward you for making the trek.

Jasper Park is great for camping, hiking and outdoor adventure.

Hacker tip

Prepare yourself before hitting the road. While there certainly are places to stop along the way, you’ll find yourself driving through long stretches with little else around. So gas up, use the restroom and grab food for the road.

Enjoy your drive

If you can make it, Hinton is just a half-hour from Jasper but worth the stop. Walk the Beaver Boardwalk to stop to relax in the Miette Hotsprings. Then, have lunch at Rojo Marrón Mexican Restaurant & Cafe.
