Interest in the Caribbean is up 22% year over year, the largest regional increase. At the same time, airfare to the region is down 8%.

Willemstad, Curaçao and Nassau, Bahamas top the trending list, with flight searches up 55% and 48% respectively. Both also rank among the best international flight deals, with airfare down as much as 23%.

For Canadians craving warmth without long haul flight times, this is where value and sunshine meet.

Beyond the beaches, Canadians are thinking bigger.

While the Caribbean is surging, a wave of long-haul cities is also climbing the trending list. Hanoi, Seoul, New Delhi and Mumbai are all seeing double digit growth in flight searches, up as much as 38% compared to last year. Tunis also joins the mix, adding North Africa to the Spring Break map.

These aren’t quick sun and sand escapes. They’re culture-heavy, food-driven, once-in-a-lifetime type itineraries. Europe also stands out as the most searched region, with cities like Paris and Lisbon among the most popular overall.

The takeaway: If Canadians are getting on a plane this Spring Break, they’re making it count.

Airfare is relatively steady, but hotel prices are climbing. International rates are up 35% year over year and domestic rates are up 14%, making accommodations the biggest pressure point this Spring Break.
