Break out the pool noodles and the sunscreen, Spring Break is here. Whether you’re a college student looking for some time away from the library or a family ready to make some core memories, we’ve got the deets on everything to know for your spring vacation.

You’re gonna be popular (for Spring Break).

Florida has a new king. Orlando, the long reigning most popular US spot for Spring Breakers, has been unseated by neighboring Fort Lauderdale. Our top favorite spots in “Laudy” include hitting any one of the local beaches, taking a stroll along the River Walk or taking a day trip out to Everglades National Park.

KAYAK’s top 10 most popular Spring Break destinations

Warm weather deals are real.

Let’s face it. Most Canadians are looking for a warm weather trip for Spring Break. It’s just too cold up here, even for supposed “spring.” The good news is that warm weather deals can be found in spots like San Diego (-18% year over year drop in average airfare) and Fort Myers (-9% year over year drop in average airfare). If you’ve got your sights set on a specific destination, set a Price Alert. We’ll watch airfare, hotel rates and even rental car rates and let you know if and when the price changes.

While we’re on the subject of deals, KAYAK found 5 international spots under $500 for a cheap Spring Break getaway.

Asia is on sale.

Finding our travelers deals is kind of our bread and butter, so we’ll keep going. When looking at KAYAK data by region, we found that Asia as a whole saw a 12% drop in average airfare for Spring Break compared to the same time last year. Need we say more? Well, we will. Spring Break destinations from Hong Kong to Dubai are seeing even bigger drops than that.

The best time to book.

For domestic trips: Book more than 3 weeks out from travel.

Historic KAYAK data is showing that domestic airfare rates remain pretty flat until about 3 weeks out from your travel dates. Trying to book any closer than that and you’ll likely see a spike in airfare.

For international trips: Book between 6 and 14 weeks out from travel.

Internationally, KAYAK’s historic data shows a nice drop in airfare between 6 and 14 weeks out from your departure date (approximately 1 to 3 months). Take advantage of this time frame to find the best deals.

Found a destination you’re into but not ready to book? Set a Price Alert to track prices on the sly while you go about your life. We’ll email you when we see a change in the airfare price so you’re prepped to book.

KAYAK has defined Spring Break travel as trips between 2/14 and 3/30/2024. Search dates considered were between 12/1/2024 and 1/19/2025. Cheap destinations are those with the lowest average airfare from a Canada origin. Deal destinations are those with the greatest year over year decrease in airfare from a Canada origin. Popular destinations are those with the greatest volume of searches. For year over year change in airfare or hotel rates or search interest, the same travel dates in 2024 were considered for searches between 12/1/2023 and 1/19/2024. Flight prices are for round-trip, economy trips and are on average. Prices and savings are on average and are subject to change.

For best time to book data, KAYAK considered historical searches for the travel period between 1/1/2024 – 12/31/2024 for searches 6 months prior from a Canada origin. The best time to book was determined by looking at average round-trip, economy airfare for weeks out from travel.
