Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very spacious and great location in Reykjavík. Coffee and G-milk provided as well as an assortment of teas. L’occitane products for washing were very high quality. Ingo was kind and helpful.
Cons: Not a big deal, but we read about getting smoothies for breakfast and so assumed this is what was meant when we added breakfast to our stay. Instead, we received vouchers for Reykjavík Roasters next door. The breakfast was great there, but we were looking forward to the smoothies that were written about.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Attitude, nice beds anda excellent kitchen. Welcome smoothy :)
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The room was beautifully decorated. Our room was right next to a little shared common area, and it was really nice to have extra tables and sofas to sit around. The host had smoothies for each of us in the fridge. We met two hosts - and they were both very helpful and informative in planning our last two days in Iceland. The guesthouse is located right around the corner from the famous cathedral and many wonderful restaurants are within walking distance.
Cons: Shared bathroom. We knew it doing in, but still I would prefer private bathroom.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Awesome
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Our 3 night were spectacular. It is located close to the Cathedral and Main Street. We walked a few short blocks to the most fabulous restaurants. Ingo and Adis, our innkeepers, we’re wonderful and incredibly helpful. I joyfully recommend this darling guest house.
Cons: I didn’t like leaving!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Perfect location.. near the church.. easy to find your way back. Quiet neighborhood with parking right in front. Shared living room, bath and full kitchen had everything you needed (shared with 3 other rooms). And.. they had free bikes with helmets and locks.. so today we toured the city on bike.
Cons: Some might not like the shared bathroom part.. but it worked
Excellent 10.0
Pros: everything about the Freyja Guesthouse was delightful
Excellent 10.0
Pros: You can't beat the location. Newly renovation building, lots of street parking, shared kitchen and bathroom. Lot's of towels, toiletries very clean and modern. Kitchen is packed with an array of teas and coffees including a healthy smoothie made fresh daily. Great service and they offer a guide with places to go and things to do in the city. Which is short walk from the hotel. Breakfast is complimentary just next door beautiful cafe with seating an wifi you can actually get some work done.
Cons: I didn't like the fact I didn't choose to stay there my entire visit to Iceland, such a great central location.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great, quaint bed and breakfast with extremely helpful and kind owners. We would definitely stay again!

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The host Thorey is so wonderful . She accommodated all our requests and made sure that our stay was comfortable and pleasant.
Cons: Wish a better ventilation system in the bathroom
Excellent 10.0
Pros: One of the best places we have stayed in Reykjavik and would certainly Consider using again 😀
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Galtafell was really great. Peaceful, quiet, but so central in the city, 5mins walk to city centre, and a really nice walk too along lake side just down from street.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Lovely place right near the city pond. On arrival the caretakers couldn’t have been more helpful arranging early check in to accommodate the quarantine waiting for covid test results. Thank you 😊
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Centrally located, cosy beds, good blackout curtains which made sleeping in the lighter hours after a long journey very easy and comfortable. Hosts were very accommodating!
Cons: N/a
Excellent 10.0
Pros: No fuss, just go and enjoy. Loved being able to cook a bit since eating out is crazy expensive.
Cons: Parking spots are difficult sometimes. The water smelled of sulfur.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Nice, quiet residential street. Short walk to shopping area & tourist sights. Having a kitchen (with coffee pot, kettle, dishes, utensils, cooking pots, etc.) in our room was great, since eating out was so expensive. There were 9 of us in three apartments. All of our rooms had different lay-outs, and one of them had a large living room where we could all gather comfortably (Apt. 2) Very friendly, helpful innkeepers, also!

Good 7.0
Pros: Super friendly host, we were greeted warmly and able to leave our bags when we arrived in the morning before check in. Good location, easy to park and find. Very close to the main bus station.
Cons: One of our windows didn’t have a shade to block out the light, but luckily we had sleep masks. There was also no towel provided for the bathroom floor, which was a little dangerous given the shower leaked easily.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Very friendly host, very welcoming hotel in perfect location
Cons: Was happy with all aspects.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Excellent and cozy place with very friendly stuff
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Room was large with bed for two and a couch. Was able to check in after hours without disturbing anyone. Staff was courteous and accommodating.
Cons: Water in my room had a slight mineral smell.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Great location! Staff sometimes hard to find, but extremely friendly and very helpful. The room was small, but very nice and had everything I needed. All in all I will definitely book here again the next time.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great location. Friendly owners. Recommend staying here.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The host and his staff
Excellent 9.7
Pros: Beds were comfortable. Staff were friendly. Easy check-in and check-out. Didn't have time to stay for breakfast but they gave us a packed breakfast to take with us the night before.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great location and really nice staff. The people there even made me a lunch box to go since my flight was very early in the morning and I'd miss breakfast.

Okay 4.0
Pros: The manager's efforts to find a room at any price.
Cons: $200/night seemed a little stiff
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Good beds
Cons: Very simple room
Excellent 9.0
Pros: fully stocked kitchen, near city centre, free parking
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Nice guesthouse. Clean, comfortable rooms. We booked this hotel because if had solid ratings, breakfast and free parking, but the lot was full when we arrive. Luckily we were able to get parking right outside for free! The location is very good for exploring this city - very close to the high street and shopping area. The rooms are clean and have what you need for a short stay. We had a private bathroom, but there was a communal kitchen if you wanted to prepare your own food. The breakfast was only so-so. I consider it a nice bonus, but not a selling point. There are plenty of places close by to get breakfast and coffee nearby.
Excellent 10.0
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Location near the cathedral was good.
Cons: It was pretty noisy when there were other guests in the area.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Nice people; friendly staff; amazing location for access to center of city. Breakfast was meh. Room was clean, definitely fine (but stuffy).
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I recently stayed for 10 nights at the Guesthouse Sunna in Reykjavik. The location can NOT be beat, the property was clean, the staff was friendly and efficient, and the breakfast was good-especially the coffee! The staff were very quick at responding to emails. During this time of pandemic they were very accommodating to us US citizens flying all night and needing to quarantine until our PCR results were received. I will definitely stay here next time in Reykjavik! Thanks!
Cons: Nothing. It was all good.

Excellent 9.0
Pros: A nice spacious room with a comfortable bed, a new bathroom with a rainshower and the loveliest hosts! Karlotta made us a wonderful breakfast with homemade bread, we wish we could have stayed longer! The walk to the city center took us around 20min, perfect after the long flight! Would definitely stay there again!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The hosts were very nice and made us feel very comfortable.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Very quiet very friendly. Needed to leave very early - was left breakfast self serve, made sandwiches which I ate later
Cons: Long walk into town
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Excellent location, well maintained home, extremely friendly and accommodating host. Would 100% stay here again!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Karlotta and Hugo were excellent hosts and both made us feel extremely welcome. They gave great recommendations and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The breakfast was also a highlight and helped us keep to our more strict budget. The place itself was very homely and having books in every room was lovely. Karlotta also kindly offered to change our bedding and towels – much appreciated after an evening at the Blue Lagoon!
Cons: The only thing I would say is that the property was quite expensive for the location. It was advertised as being in the city centre of Reykjavik, but it was a 25-minute walk. We didn't mind walking (and we did hire a car for two of the days) but would have been nice to be a little bit closer. Other than that, our stay was fantastic.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Fantastically lovely hosts, cosy room, super breakfast
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We arrived late. Great hospitality! Karlotta has made arrangements so that we were looked after. It's a lovely room in their lovely home. Comfortable bed, love the 2 single blankets. She has thoughtfully put a microwave and kettle in the dining area so we could help ourselves to tea.
Cons: Location is in the suburbs. Reykjavik in general is expensive... Be prepared to pay for expensive taxi. We made a mistake by thinking we could easily walk to Go Camper to pick up car, but that was an approx 20 mins taxi away. If you already have rented a car from airport, this isn't an issue.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Karlotta (the host) is so sweet and welcoming person! She is always ready to help. The breakfast is also a nice option! The house itself and the room are stylish, modern but with it's own history and unique things so you can feel yourself almost at home! Definetely wish to stay longer.
Cons: Not so close to city center, Laugavegur street - 20-25 minute walk. But that's all that may not be suittable for some people. For us it was okay.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Lovely staff, excellent breakfast, unfortunately the restaurant and bar were closed due to Covid. We had the junior suite for 3 days. The suite and the bed was comfortable with 2 TVs, one in the bedroom and another in the sitting area. It was quiet and the linens on the bed were beautiful. We had a mini fridge and a kettle with an assortment of teas and coffee. Best of all free parking and a really great location.
Cons: An older graceful hotel that's showing it's age a bit. I loved it, however the brass room key weighs a ton! We left it at the front desk when we went out. The bathroom is quite small, but the shower is a good size.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I loved the staff here so much. This was out of my budget as I am a solo traveler/student, but I had a mixup with a different hotel leading me to booking this spot last minute. With that being said, it was worth every penny! I even added an extra night! The staff is over-the-top friendly, and they let me play the piano in the lobby while I sipped on Icelandic beer. The beds are comfy, the breakfast was plentiful and thoughtful (each day included a different sandwich, pastry, and something sweet). I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Cons: I loved everything.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The casual elegance and just-right size of this cozy neighborhood hotel give it the feeling of many boutique hotels. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the off-street parking is great and the room we had was clean and comfortable. It was an easy walk to most downtown and waterfront sites. The breakfasts were tasty and well presented. The artwork displayed throughout the hotel was outstanding.
Cons: The bathroom in our room was a bit cramped.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: It was nice. The plate that I got was a little to big for one but for two would be perfect. I loved the old style and furniture but thats also because I love that. Staff very friendly
Excellent 8.0
Pros: I love the hotel as it has an amazing art collection from all the Icelandic masters. Nothing has changed - it was and is a classic, comfy hotel. We had a lovely stay.
Cons: I hope it never ever changes the interior. True gem.
Excellent 10.0
Excellent 9.4
Pros: Location was easy walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: They say that they provide a hot breakfast, but I found that this really meant just buffet style eggs and bacon. Everything else was more of a continental breakfast style.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Quiet location, but 10 min walk to everything. Breakfast buffet (hot) included. Absolutely best staff attentive, accommodating, engaging. Houses one of the finer restaurants in the city plus a nice bar downstairs. Tea and coffee and mini bar in the room. Would absolutely stay again.
Cons: Single rooms on the top floor are drafty because of the balcony doors.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Very good staff, clean and comfortable, splurge restaurant. Arranged several details including transfers and day trips via the staff. Quick walk to old town in both directions - reflecting pool or Hallgrimskirka. Solid.
Cons: Not cheap, rooms are not large, but that's not their fault.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: We had such a wonderful time at this place. We felt at home right from the start. Friendly and very kind long-term guests helped us settling in since the front desk wasn't occupied when we arrived. We had a large 4-bed room for ourselves and we loved the atmosphere there. It's not far from downtown (less then 10 minutes with an e-scooter). If you're looking for a place that isn't too expensive and if sharing a bathroom and kitchen isn't a problem for you, you should stay here.
Cons: There is nothing - zero - nada to complain about. 😉
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We didn't try their breakfast. This guesthouse is beyond awesome in my eyes. For a very cheap price you get to stay in a private room, which door is unlooked by a code. In our room there was a lot of storage space with three cupboards, and also a sink. There's a laundry room in the basement, and a big kitchen with lots of fridge space and plenty of utensils for preparing your food. The atmosphere is very friendly and the house also has a pretty big garden. It's located close to Hallgrìmskirkja, and the bus terminal BSì where the buses for other parts of Iceland depart from and some (maybe most of them even) of the guided bus tours also leave from there.
Cons: I don't think there were anything I didn't like.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Agile arriving and possibility to leave bags after stay before flight. Good connection to BSI station and to the center. Good common kitchen.
Cons: It could be a bigger shower, but still is fine.
Mediocre 3.0
Pros: Location is good.
Cons: Dirty studio, someone's rubbish still in there. Unclean towels, hob and oven. Very smelly drains.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Good location
Cons: A little messy
Okay 5.0
Pros: The beds were good
Cons: - The kitchen is a mess - Groups of working people stay in the hostel instead of tourists - We couldn't open the door when we arrived and the promised baby bed was not present.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: We got an upgrade to room with own bathroom.
Good 7.0
Pros: Very cheap accommodation in a very central area making it a great base for exploring Reykjavik. The guest house provided a lot of information about the property prior to stay that made planning tours and finding the property a breeze, they answered questions very promptly too which I appreciated. All the other guests were nice / respectful and it had a very laid back vibe. Bed was comfy, room was warm and I slept well. Tip: 'Your Day Tours' for South Coast Tour picked me up from right outside the property (for GTI I had to go to nearest bus stop)
Cons: The shower was really not nice (dirty, awkward to use, shower curtain draped on the ground, in general disrepair) I really wasn't expecting anything flash for the price of this accommodation but it really was a misery to use. Also while I appreciated the late check in and how easy it was, I didn't appreciate that my door code was left on a card in the door before I got there, to me this was a security issue as anyone could have seen the code to my door before I got in.
Excellent 9.3
Pros: Well-run Very good staff clean and good value and location for a stay in a very nice but expensive city

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Spacious rooms. Easy to get to centre by bus. Excellent breakfast.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The Hilton Hotel was very nice and the receptionist who looked like Malfoy from Harry Potter ( sorry we forgot your name :( ) was so kind and helped us with everything and gave us another upgrade for the room! Also they have vegan options in the restaurant which was excellent! Even if they rebooked us some where else, we were very happy with our stay. Thank you for accomodating us
Cons: When we arrived at the hotel the hotel was closed. We called the porperty and they told us to go to the Hilton hotel with the same booking and price without any charges. It was nice to have that upgrade but very disapointing to not have known in advance.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Very nice big room, nice check in
Cons: when I book on booking I give up 2 adults and 1 child 7 years old. But they dont see the child at check in. but very nice staff so nothing to dont like there.

Pros: Spa was fantastic, breakfast was great but this was expected due to the price you pay.
Cons: Having a double bed which have two beds pushed together was uncomfortable and as a couple we like to be close when we sleep. On this occasion having two single duvets just made this uncomfortable. On check in they told us they were overbooked and that we should chose another of their hotels. The member of staff was rude and talking in Icelandic to other members of staff which made us uncomfortable. We ended up with a room upgrade because of the situation however this is not what we needed after a long day travelling.

Cons: It was discribed as having a pool which was not accurate because you had to pay extra for that tried to stay one night and cancel the other nights were told couldn't do it with out paying full price, won't book through kayak again
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Privacy and friendly staff at the reception. Good people standing behind the desk.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful with information on getting around Reykjavik. The food was excellent. Loved the Folk art and displays in the lobby. It was a very nice stay for my first visit to Iceland.
Cons: The only thing that didn't work was th TV in our room. When the staff couldn't seem to fix it we were given vouchers for a beverage of our choice from the bar. It worked out just fine, instead of sitting in our room we went out and about the city and had a great time, better than TV any day!
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Nice rooms, welcoming staff at reception, very clean and comfy. Not walking distance to downtown Reykajvik, but still a very pleasant hotel. If you are going to leisure I would make sure you have a rental car.
Cons: The restaurant wasn't that great, (underdone chicken), waitstaff wasn't friendly, especially if your breakfast wasn't part of the package. The spa staff gave contradictory information to reception staff, so better communication would've been helpful .
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Crisp, clean rooms. Sharp lines very modern look inside
Cons: Breakfast is a barely mediocre buffet for 3000isk (about $30) a person
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Located directly next to domestic airport in Reykjavik - very convenient since I flew in/out of airport - walked to airport - no need to take expensive taxi - clean room - friendly staff
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The room and all amnesties were great. Very comfortable for our last night in Iceland.
Cons: The extra charges for breakfast were quite high.
Good 6.8
Pros: Nice location, but the rooms were dated, the TV was very old, the wifi worked intermittently, the breakfast buffet was pricey, and the beds were not comfortable.

Pros: It was in walking distance to the bus hostel where the airport and many tour buses arrive and leave from and it was about 15 minutes walk from downtown. That is the best aspect for me.
Cons: I am not used to accommodations that are similar to dorm living. A small room with a sink, no top sheet, just a nubby comforter that was half the width of the bed so there were two of them (never seen anything like that before), and very slow and spotty wi-fi
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The hosts are very nice and helpful. They reacted to all the inquiries and gave a lot of tips about visiting Iceland and Reykjavik. Will definitely stay again, if I have a chance to come to Iceland again.

Okay 4.0
Pros: Location
Cons: The room was in the different building, so the description on the website is confusing. The breakfast was in the main building. To get the towels you need to go to reception across the street. Shared bathroom with 4 other rooms, so we had a ‚toilet hunting’ in the morning. I’d rather pay a little more for some other hotel than staying here.
Excellent 8.0
Cons: A noisy courtyard with boys playing basketball in the evening, right in front of our room. Fortunately they stopped at 8 pm. And otherwise a nice and comfortable stay.
Good 7.0
Pros: Awesome breakfast! Room was clean and comfortable.
Cons: The shared bathroom was used by so many it was always dirty with wet floors, dirty toilet and overflowing trash can. Needs to be cleaved more frequently if rooms are all in use.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Location was really good, short walk to the church and the rainbow street. The room was clean and spacious, breakfast was ok, the beds were comfy.
Cons: No tv, a little hard to find parking.
Good 7.0
Cons: there was no breakfast on one of the days
Excellent 10.0
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This was clean comfortable small room in downtown Reykjavik. They have a very efficient check in process. The breaksfast was great. It is a very convenient location close to all of the main pedestrian areas.
Cons: The breakfast room was crowded, but everyone was able to get food and eat. An extra towel / bathmat for the shower could have been nice. I used my towel to dry the floor since I was just staying one night.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: location was wonderful, and easy to explane when you are lost because there was a pizza restaurant near by. Also, it was one block away from the famous church. Breakfast was wonderful. couldn't stop eating the bread they provided.
Cons: it maybe difficult to use the restroom, since the building i stayed was a modified house, which had only one bathroom( just one) on the floor with three bed room.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: good value and really close to everything you want to see
Cons: the shower on the ground floor was borderline to hot.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location, comfortable and very friendly and helpful staff!
Cons: Can’t think of anything
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The breakfast was great especially for being included with the price of the room! The room was small but everything was comfortable and worked well.
Cons: The room was a bit small, but it was doable for 2 people.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Very good location, walking distance to pretty much anywhere in the city. Helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was pretty nice and it was awesome that they provided free drinks (coffee etc) at all times for free. The bed was really comfortable!
Cons: Tv was pretty pointless in the room cos it only showed one channel and sometimes not even that. Spent way too much time at the front door of the building because the key card rarely worked and had to use it countless of times to open the door (even after it was programmed again)
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Very close and well appointed
Cons: A little bit small
Excellent 9.0
Pros: This best part about this hotel is its location. The rooms are quite small, but the hotel is worth it due to its amazing location in downtown Reykjavik. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Pros: Very central location, room was very warm and plenty of hot water, breakfast had variety and an early breakfast can be ordered if you are going on a trip.
Cons: Was across the street in old building but it was OK.
Okay 4.5
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Crummy bathroom with no place or room for anything. Sulfurous stench water (not filtered as is needed in Reykjavik water system). Noisy smoker area outside tenant windows that kept me awake until four thirty am then restarted at six am). Paper thin walls. Dirty carpets. Just a dump that’s milking tourists.

Pros: Walking distance to the main strip, restaurants, shopping, night life. Staff was very friendly. Cute lobby/lounge area.
Cons: Room was tiny!! Very outdated. Bathroom smelled strongly of urine. Wasn't horrible, 3 star hotel. Wouldn't stay more than a night or 2

Excellent 9.0
Pros: For one night, great, excellent location, helpful and nice staff.
Cons: The smallest room I have ever seen but just for sleeping fine.
Good 7.0
Pros: The breakfast was very good and had a nice selection.
Cons: the rooms are very old and you can hear everything outside your room, as well as the bathrooms are very old and would benefit from a few updates.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything was ok
Good 7.0
Pros: Staff was friendly, clean facilities and good location
Cons: No bin or mirror inside the room
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The personnel was really nice and the room and the bathrooms were very clean and comfortable. The localization was amazing, right in the city center - close to the airport, the bus station, shops, restaurants, and bars. If I ever come to Reykjavik one more time I would definitely stay here again and I recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in a nice hostel and have their own little kitchenette at quite a low cost.
Cons: The room was quite hot and there was just one little window that we could open but as I saw walking around the city centre, tiny windows are just a Reykjavik thing so there's nothing the owner could do :)
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Clean room, beds and beddings. Even the shared bath. Receptionist accommodated us for early check in due to quarantine requirements. Coffee and tea is a bonus. Location is ideal coz it's centrally located but in a quiet neighborhood.
Good 6.0
Pros: Location is good. The city is so expensive that this hostel for about €50-60 per night is the only option budget traveler can afford.
Cons: One bathroom per each floor with 4 tiny rooms, very often bathroom was occupied. Super noisy, rooms have zero soundproof. You can hear every guest walking in and out, climbing up the stairs, talking on the phone in their room or in common space between rooms. And this lasts all day and most of the night. Earplugs helps a little.
Okay 5.0
Cons: Random worker entered my locked room after brief knocking in the middle of the day, found me naked in my bed. When I've asked him what's happening, he explained me that they are reconstructing the place, kept doing his thing while I was just wordlessly stuned by the situation. Probably biggest violation of privacy I've experienced till now. At 9pm, tired and craving to have a shower, I've found out that there are no towels, and I need to pick them up from other guesthouse on different street. When I called asking why, I was explained that people kept stealing them. Very weird experience and I unfortunately couldn't enjoy my stay and leave a nice review.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Clean rooms. Shared kitchen. Shared bathrooms weren't a problem since there were only a few rooms per floor. Breakfast is free and complimentary. We arrived early in the morning before check in and the let us store our bags in the back room. Easy walk to downtown.
Cons: French tourists took my kid's milk box from the shared fridge but that's not the hotel's fault.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: I stay here all the time (more than 20 nights now), its consistently reliable, clean, and quiet. Perfectly comfortable, and not hit or miss like a lot of the places in Reykjavik. Its about a 10-15 minute walk from downtown in a residential area, parking is super easy at the hotel.
Cons: I like everything about this hotel. Im sold.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The staff and the location was great. The breakfast was fine.
Cons: The hot water smelled a bit funny. Other than that it was great.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The style of the hotel from the 60-70 was interesting.
Good 7.0
Pros: Interesting hotel with 1960ies style interior, at least partially. Outside of hotel is not nice, a big block. Rooms are OK, mattress a bit hard, bedding very nice. Staff attentive and friendly. Check-in and check out smooth. Overall nothing fancy. But good for one or two nights.
Cons: Location is good and bad at the same time. Good, because you can walk to the city, but the surrounding is kind of industrial. Building is old and although rooms are renovated, it feels old. Rooms cannot be darkened properly.
Good 6.0
Pros: location (if you have a car and hiking is your business) spacious room (superior) abel to conect TV to ipad
Cons: sloppily house keeping / cleaning tiny bathroom quality of bed
Excellent 8.8
Excellent 9.6
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The room size was amazingly great and city location was very convenient.
Cons: The hotel went on strike for a day and did not have full service ie:no housekeeping, no full food menu..very disappointed they allowed that to happen.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The location was great, it was only 15 minute walk to the city center and was easily located for excursion pick up.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Given a small, quite dated room on top (7th) floor and asked for upgrade but none available. This was not a problem for us as plus points were that it was a clean, quiet room with a comfortable bed and excellent views over the city at night. The hotel itself was very nice apparently with some updating taking place that we never saw or heard whilst there. Credit must be given to the reception staff who were always very pleasant and never put out giving us information and helping us find the best excursions available. The breakfast was very good with a nice choice. We never dined at the hotel after breakfast as we were out and about most of the time but had a few drinks at the bar at night which we thought were expensive but it's roughly the same at most bars/eateries in the city. The hotel was in a very good quiet location within easy reach and walking distance from the main city area. We really liked it here and plan to book again next year as we didn't have time to visit many of the attractions having only booked a 3-night short break. We recommend this hotel. Excursions - A must is The Blue Lagoon a bit expensive at £125 p.p. with return coach travel but a wonderful experience and would visit again! This price was for the comfort pack that includes a towel and a free drink, it's about £21 p.p. dearer for the Premium pack which includes sandals and a robe. We found the Northern Lights a bit of a let down as we only saw a very small pale green 'glow' nowhere what you see in pictures even though it was a clear sky! The 'Hop On - Hop Off' red bus tour around city is also recommended.
Okay 5.0
Pros: breakfast was awesome, if pricey. Staff was helpful
Cons: it was not clean. Room was shabby, hair and shower caps left in tub. other guests got updated modern rooms for same price that I paid for a run down dirty room. I wished I had gotten a more centrally located hotel, this hotel was NOT near anything
Poor 1.0
Pros: The hotel is big, in construction, noise, facility equipment trouble, electronic door key was not working.
Poor 1.0
Cons: It's easily the worst hotel for $--- price
Okay 4.0
Pros: The breakfast was very good. The staff were friendly. The bedding was good.
Cons: The hotel appeared old and worn out. The room was small and worn out. No USB plug in the room The TV did not work. We asked for it to be fixed twice, but it was not taken care of. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. In the U.S it would be a 2.5 s
Excellent 8.5
Pros: The proximity to the city center and ocean, without any hustle and bustle. The staff was amazing and did whatever they could to accommodate. The views of the sea and the mountains were beautiful.
Cons: Breakfast and dinner buffets are expensive but in line with prices across Iceland. There were renovations creating some confusion on how to get to our room and some exit doors were closed.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: People working there were helpful and friendly!
Cons: Way way way overpriced for room and breakfast, hotel under repair and should have paid us to stay there! Poor condition for a Radisson Blu, we called it Radisson BOOOOOO
Okay 4.0
Pros: Location was very good.i had high expectations for a 3+star hotel
Cons: Blood stain on the comforter and dark faded patch as well. It is nothing to hurt the hotel but to help people to understand what they are getting for the price they pay. I hope the hotel improves.i requested for an extra bed and I had to request 2nd
Excellent 8.2
Pros: The proximity to the city and although they didn't have a pool they give free passes to the nearby pool which has sauna steam room and hot tubs.
Cons: The breakfast buffet had the same food every day and there wasn't many options for those who didn't eat pork.
Good 6.0
Pros: nothing it was not exactly the hotels fault, but due to an airline strike we had to cut our stay by a day. When we checked in I made it clear they we were leaving a day early. Hotel ignored this and charged us for the day we were not there.(NOT Prepaid
Cons: Location - not near anything very windy, I know Iceland is cold, but this hotel was cold or rather I never got warm from the cold outside. No food, no restaurant in hotel, or rather the nice one was booked,no availability for hotel guests for reservatio
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The rooms were clean but Kinda our dates amenities.the beds were clean but the pillows are flat. Breakfast always great. Clean and helpful staff.
Good 7.0
Pros: breakfast
Cons: messy- under construction
Okay 4.0
Pros: Helpful staff, nice view from our room
Cons: The hotel is extremely outdated and our room was dilapidated and tiny. No space to even turn around, horrible bed (with a dent down the middle, so my friend and I kept rolling into each other), cracks in the walls and ceiling, water/rust blocking the light from the ceiling fixture, peeling paint, cheap/ineffective shower curtain, windows that rattled, etc. We didn't complain or ask to change rooms because I can't imagine other rooms are any better. This hotel is a bit creepy and at least 10 years past necessary renovations. It was supposed to be a splurge and a treat for ourselves after 10 days of guesthouses, but was by far our worst accommodation in Iceland. Really disappointing for a Radisson Blu and for the amount we spent.
Okay 5.0
Pros: Somme place on the roof and bâts is good.
Cons: Hotel in rénovation, somme facilitiez are Closer. The réservations was incluses breakfast in the privé of the roof, and the hotel charge 1200 is per personne for a ligot breakfast.
Good 6.0
Pros: The included breakfast & friendly staff.
Cons: The drafty windows that scream all night because of how much wind they let through. The rooms & hotel need major updating, compared to the other comparable hotels the Blue Saga is seriously dragging behind with decor from the 60's
Good 6.2
Pros: The staff
Cons: The outdated hotel with drafty windows
Good 6.2
Pros: The hotel had complimentary breakfast, with many options and great food. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
Cons: The room we had was extremely outdated, it looked like my classroom in public school in the early 90's, with tile and colors from the 60's.
Mediocre 2.5
Pros: This is a avery poorly maintained hotel. The staff is not very informative about the Iceland and very unhelpful to customers. The rooms are not cleaned properly and customer complaints not attended promptly. In my five days stay, my room telephone never worked, shower head never fixed, it took two days tho fix the locker. I had to visit the front desk several times to complain but not much was done. Overall it was a very unpleasant experience. We were a group of 15 people that could not call room to room - had to use what is app to communicate and coordinate activities. So sad
Good 6.5
Pros: The service is great, along with it being easily accessible to the area without being right in downtown/touristy area. View is pretty nice of the city from afar too. We enjoyed the hotel for 4 days while doing day trips around the ring road then walking to the nightlife or hotel bar in the evenings. The staff is pretty accommodating to any needs - the bartending staff had a real knowledge of the area and great tips. I would maybe stay here again, but bring my own pillows next time.
Cons: It is a bit outdated in terms of decor - but the real issue is the pillows. There was nothing to them and it left us with terrible neck strain. Wifi didn't work in our 6th floor room, but they tried to accommodate by placing a hotspot nearby - yet removed it before the end of our stay.
Okay 5.7
Pros: Staff was great. Good location but a 15 min walk to the city center with its shops and eateries.
Cons: Rooms were "used" at best. A lot of wear and tear and small holes and dents in walls and doorways. Some non functioning amenities and even issues with one of the elevator banks.
Good 7.1
Pros: - Great price - 10 minute walk to downtown - Good breakfast - Good wifi
Cons: - Very worn linens and furniture - Bed was not the most comfortable
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The room was super clean, had many amenities and was well appointed (bathrobe, slippers, plenty of towels, a safe, cable Tv and radio, Wifi, some complimentary toiletries, coffee &coffee maker, cork screw, many lamps, great system of curtains, bath tub and shower, etc.). The hotel itself also had many amenities: there are three dining options there ( award winning restaurant, moderate restaurant, and bar fare), a spa and hairdresser in the basement, a bar/lounge with happy hour, a polite and helpful staff, a tourist shop, etc.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The rooms we stayed in were clean and well-kept, the staff was very courteous and the location is ideal. If you're not afraid of a little walking (or if you're from NYC and think nothing of it) then you'll be pleased by how quickly you can get to the city center without using the buses or the very expensive cabs. The view was lovely and the restaurant on the ground floor was a very enjoyable meal and reasonably priced compared to the normal Icelandic fare. We stayed at the hotel for slightly more than a week and used it as a staging point for a variety of tours. I mention this because it seems like a fairly common practice here, and tour drivers will actually come into the lobby and collect you. In our case one of the tours was cancelled and the hotel staff handled all the logistics for rescheduling it. Our reservation came with access to their daily breakfast buffet, which is quite large and served as a great meal to get us started before our tours.
Cons: Like many homes and hotels in iceland, this building gets its hot water directly from a hot water system below ground. There are some places you might stay that get their hot water from a local geothermal plant. This is not one of them. This means that the Saga's hot water has a slight sulfur smell to it. It's perfectly safe and even drinkable, but the taste and the smell is not pleasant. Knowing this ahead of time would not have made me cancel my reservation, but I think this kind of thing is good to know before you arrive. Laundry is expensive. I sent down about two weeks' worth of Tshirts, socks, and underwear for a single person and it ran about 70 USD. We would still rather have used the local laundry than packing twice as many clothes, but that price stings a bit, especially for simple cotton garments.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Breakfast buffet included with room. Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Free parking.
