car broke down waited 4 hours for roadside assistance in the higway had to pay 200 euros for roadside assistance insurance - car transmission broke that is more than a minor issue like a flat tire.

Staff Friendly. Drop off was tough. The address for the drop off brought us to an obscure neighborhood near the airport. The Madrid terminals 1 and 4 were hard to find.

Due to error on entering the date of arrival in Madrid ( put in the flight date forgetting it was an overnight flight), they canceled my reservation. They said they did not have the van I ordered. I asked about a smaller car and they refused. Thy offered was a bigger car at TWICE $. Went to Avis.

Extremely disappointed with the service. The car I got was WAY SMALLER than what me and my family needed, which almost forced us to completely change our plans as our luggage didn't fit in it. We had to figure things out on the go. The company didn't move a finger to help us finding another car, not even paying the difference. I likely won't use the service again.

Pros:

Yes, but the process is unnecessarily deceptive. The pricing seems favorable but than they hit you with exhorbidant insurance costs that exceed the actual rental cost. These costs are hidden until your at the counter. Lots of other add-on costs. VERY unpleasant process. I expected more from HERTZ.

Have just flown home. The check out and in process was smooth but they did not look over the car when you take it or on return, they just advise you to take photos. Having just landed, I have received an email with a €750 charge for windscreen damage which was there when I took it (I have photos as advised). They have also charged for 1/2 a tank of fuel when I returned 3/4. It is going to be such a headache sorting it out. Really disappointed. Like a windscreen replacement even costs that much anyway!! Total rip off. AVOID

Random charge was added to my account from Record Go even though I paid for the service and insurance through Kayak. When I dropped off the car, I was told there would be no charge and that the contract was closed out. This is on top of the nearly $1,500 deposit that I had to put down while already having insurance through Kayak/Expedia.

I liked that RecordGo were in the main airport terminal. The car was ready and reasonably new (around 20K km and with Apple CarPlay) and RecordGo said they were only interested in scratches of more than 4cm. No fuss, all worked well and I enjoyed several hundred trouble-free km in the vehicle. Drop-off at the end was equally easy.

Pick up was a bit chaotic, we had to wait a while for a car and then we got an upgrade which was nice, a brand new Volvo XC60 Hybrid but unfortunately the National / Enterprise rep failed to give me any advice how to operate the car and we had to keep getting out the car to ask him Qs. Further, we couldn't exit the car park initially as the car had not been set up for this it seems. On return of the car we had another problem as Enterprise emailed us a line of directions that when inputted into Google Maps (which was the car's navigation system) sent us to the wrong address initially and we almost missed our flight as a result. When we got to the right address the hand over and shuttle to the airport went very smoothly. The car was good and comfortable for our purposes, over 800km driving om highways in Spain

The staff attention at pick up was wonderful, and general product offered was very good.

Cons:

The Oil lamp indicadator came on a few hours into our trip. Had the oil checked and it was running very low so I had to spend about 28 euros fixing that.

The car left me stranded in the middle of nowhere, had to have the car towed to somewhere and then returned the car the next day in a different city because it wasnt working the Alamo representative wouldn’t help me replace the vehicle with another one so I had to rent another car from a different rental company. Alamo put me in a dangerous situation giving me a car that didn’t function properly and didn’t do anything to resolve the issue.

The excess in the case of an accident was up to the whole value of the car! Usually on third party websites, it is around 2000-2500 euros. We had to pay 50 euros extra per day for the CDW. I should have known there is something hidden in the price shown on your website. Last time renting with you.

It doesn't specify the rental is inside the building behind the train station. Google Takes you across to some other streets. Very vague location. Also when you get inside there's no Dollar sign. Only after I called I realized it's inside the Hertz office. There you can see 2 tiny Dollar signs.

They will look at your car with magnifying glasses when returning the car. So report every dent and scratch no mater how small is it when picking the car. In my case thy charge me $90 for a missing radio antenna. I didn't even think cars even has one in modern times.

Pros:

I rented car in spain,after explaining to customer service person that I would be doing quite a bit of driving she suggested an upgrade. I got a larger car that used diesel,a bit less expensive and better mileage.It worked out better for us,since 3 of us were traveling and all suitcases were able to fit in trunk.Happy with my rental.

Hi, I went to Madrid Airport to pick up my car with the price of 140 EUR and an insurance that I already paid for 55$. But when I went to the agent desk, he told me that the insurance is fake and that I have to pay almost 450 EUR for both car rent and insurance which was completely outrageous. In the end, I had to cancel my booking. Please fix this or terminate your contract with companies like Thrifty which will only bring a bad name to your reputation.

Really hard sell trying to get us to take the insurance on the car, when we refused (we already purchased insurance) the service became surly anf unfriendly.
