The location is on the edge of a quiet, typical French village complete with a quaint church. My Wife and I enjoyed the peaceful location. The property is set back off the main road with access via electrically operated gates which offer good security. When we arrived, we were met by Phillipe the owner who gave us a warm welcome, showed us to our room and explained the arrangements for breakfast and the means to access the hotel in his absence. Our room was on the first floor and the view faced towards the main entrance to the property and the extensive gardens either side of the driveway. The room itself was quite large and spacious, with a large double bed which was one of the most comfortable beds that we have ever slept in. Even late in the season, the room was quite warm without the need to resort to central heating. The room was ensuite, and offered a large bathroom which had good lighting and had a very spacious shower facility. The hotel offered free WiFi, a minibar and some assorted snacks, both at a small additional charge. The breakfast was served between 0830 and 1030hrs. The breakfast is continental style with plenty of choice of cheeses, cold meats various breads and fruit as required with copious pots of coffee or tea offered by Phillipe. The hotel has a quaint charm as it contains many interesting French style antiques throughout which is a long way from the usual modern same style hotels that you find throughout the world. Both my wife and I had a wonderful four nights stay at this location and would highly recommend it. We will certainly try to stay here in the future if we should return to this lovely area of France.
It is very difficult to find any aspect of this hotel to be critical of, however, the only stressful part of staying there was that breakfast is served at one large table which obviously requires sharing the same space as other guests who are staying at the same time. This can prove awkward due to language difficulties, as both my wife and I have limited French but in fairness we did manage to make ourselves understood and after the initial surprise on the first morning did enjoy the experience of meeting and conversing with the other guests.
The owner Phillipe was outstanding. We were in an accident on our way to the hotel and he could not have been more helpful. Phillipe welcomed us and even made us a delicious supper as we were unable to collect our rental car until the next day. He made several calls for us and even took us to get the rental car. This was one of the best holidays we have had due to our host. The location, food and accommodation were perfect. We even had a picnic lunch as the property has several areas to sit and relax. Perfect!
That we had only booked for four nights!
Philippe is so very generous in helping with suggestions for visits in the area. His hospitality is charming. He even made sure our car rental was turned in and provided transportation to the train station, five minutes away. Lovely ambiance and grounds.
The breakfast we had on our first morning was excellent.
We had an early departure for our ferry on the final morning and we understood that our host would leave a simple snack for us. However, we couldn't access the breakfast room (around 7 am) so had to leave without anything to eat. Perhaps a misunderstanding on our part?
The bed was very comfortable, and breakfast first class
Nothing. It was really excellent
