There were no staff members at the auberge to let us in when we got there at 10pm although it said in the confirmation that we can arrive anytime between 4pm and 12am
The breakfast was excellent, and the server was almost the only member of the staff available.
This auberge seems to think that staffing a reception desk is not necessary. When I arrived, it took someone from the kitchen 20 minutes to locate someone to do a check in. All the other times went by the desk, there was no one to answer questions, or provide help.
The food was very good (breakfast and dinner). Interesting historic building with nice garden.
We got a room which is not appropriate for use as a hotel room. It used to be the office of the doctor who owned the house more than 100 years ago. It was recently turned into a room that is rented to guests, but should not be without major improvements. This room opens onto a small hallway which leads to the hotel kitchen. Right outside our door are the "toilettes" used by restaurant patrons. The room was stuffy with non-opening windows. The AC left a puddle on the floor; the toilet ran continuously and left a puddle; the shower did not work properly. The "garden view" turned out to be a "garbage can" view. The second night we arrived after dinner to find the door to this hallway locked. Since we could not access our room we had to call the proprietor at home and wait for him to arrive and let us in. Then we found that our room had not been made up or cleaned. It seemed as if we didn't exist as hotel guests. Although we asked for and received a discount on checkout, that still did not make up for the negative experience. We warn prospective guests not to accept Le Cabinet as their assigned room.
The breakfast was excellent, the location was good, people were friendly. Staff was awesome we were late getting there and they stayed waiting for us. Would recommend this to anybody
