Happy Bed Hostel

Staff were friendly and location was good.

PLEASE AVOID THIS as we were extremely disappointed with this place due to BEDBUGS! My wife, 5 year old and 3 year old kids were bitten on the face, hands, body and legs! I was sleeping on another mattress hence I was lucky and avoided being bitten. We initially thought that perhaps they were mosquito bites although we didn’t open any windows in the apartment. My wife also killed a few bugs but wasn’t aware that they were bedbugs at that time. It was only when they they started to develop clustered red spots with itchiness all over their bodies did we Google and realized that the bugs she found were bedbugs!!!!! Our holiday was ruined as they kept complaining of itchiness and the kids couldn’t help but kept scratching themselves. We went to the pharmacy and the pharmacist said they appeared to be bedbugs bites and recommended some cream to ease the itchiness. On the first day when checking-in, we also found spider webs near to the door and a dead spider on the heater, as well as a few dead insects on the floor. We cleaned up the apartment but didn’t complain as we weren’t too particular about this. The shower drainage was choked so badly that the water didn’t flow at all. Fortunately the staff was responsive and came to fix it. We later emailed the property about the bedbug situation. Their reply was quite immediate, stating that they checked and didn’t find any bedbugs, and suggested that our bites were most likely due to mosquitoes. I wonder how much time they spent looking for bedbugs since they reply was quite fast! I would say that the way they handle this matter is totally irresponsible, I definitely WONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!

Very nice and helpful receptionists, reasonable price, free parking in an inner yard, close to the city centre.

The hostel is situated right next to a railway of S-Bahn. It is probably not so serious problem in winter, but it is crucial in a summer time bacause there is no air condition in the rooms (just a fan) and it is necessary to sleep with opened windows. The trains are extremely noisy.
