Was traveling with an IL driver’s license that had its expiration date extended 6 months by the state of IL due to Covid-19. No issues with TSA in 3 different airports. No issues anywhere except Hertz in St. Petersburg where the store manager would not allow me to pick up the car. In the state of FL, Hertz does not have good options for dealing with toll roads. You can either pay an exorbitant amount of money up-front (for our rental period something like $70, way more than the amount we would pay in tolls), or you can get charged afterwards for the tolls you use + a $10 administrative fee for each. There are several toll roads where you can only “pay by plate” or transponder and there is no option for paying with cash, so if you don’t know the area and your navigation takes you on one of these roads, Hertz has you over a barrel.2.0 Poor

After getting the keys, was told to remove the sunpass from windshield since I had my own and didn’t want the additional charges. I couldn’t remove it- no one was around to help. I saw a man that worked there and asked for help, then yelled for help but he ignored me and kept walking. At the Budget counter, we were informed that at the car had to be picked up at the Budget office 16 miles away in city. We wasted a couple of hours scrambling to find transportation in an unfamiliar city. The agent at the city Budget office was rude and inconsiderate The whole experience was awful. Car rental was not at airport, was offsite at an old hotel which was very strange. Shuttle was broken down upon arrival and not running for our departure. We had to take an Uber to the airport which was very inconvenient because we were traveling with a car seat and a small child. Missed my best friends wedding because surrounding car rental companies were too expensive to buy the day of. We were a group of six getting two cars. We waited outside for over a half hour. When your van finally arrived the rest of the people that came out after us rushed to the van and climbed in. Leaving us one seat. We were told that he would be back in 20 minutes or so to pick us up. Another rental was there in fact this was their third trip there while we were waiting for our guy to show up the first time. He offered us the same deal and we went with them maybe you need to have better service for pick up. We had two ladies that were almost 70 standing out in the sun waiting.
