You must have a valid driver’s license from your home state to rent a car in Orlando. While the state of Florida only requires a driver’s license from your native country to drive in Florida, international drivers might want to check their car rental company’s policy regarding international drivers just in case. Most car rental companies require drivers to be at least 21, while many have a minimum age requirement of 25 years old. A credit card in the driver’s name is typically required for security purposes and many do not accept cash or debit card deposits. You will also need proof of insurance or to buy insurance through the rental company to ensure you have financial responsibility for any potential damages that may happen during the rental period. Lastly, it is common for rental companies to run a brief driving history check to ensure the renter has a clean driving record.

Major rental companies – like Enterprise, Hertz, and Avis – offer everything from compact and economical models, ideal for city travel, to full-size sedans and SUVs that provide extra space for families or groups. More adventurous travelers might consider a 4×4 or a convertible to enjoy Florida’s sun. For environmentally conscious travelers, some rental companies even provide hybrid or electric vehicles. Remember, booking ahead – especially during peak tourist season – ensures you get the vehicle that best suits your needs and budget.

The primary spot to rent a car is at the Orlando International Airport where you’ll find numerous rental companies, like Enterprise, Hertz, Avis, and Budget, in the Ground Transportation area. This is a convenient option if you’re flying into the city. Alternatively, major car rental agencies have locations throughout the city in popular tourist areas, like Downtown Orlando, International Dive, Kissimmee, and near Walt Disney World. Certain area hotels even offer car rental services on-site for guests.

Orlando has an extensive network of ten toll roads that connect various destinations throughout the city and beyond. Unless you want to add significant time to your travels, you will likely use at least one of the toll roads during your trip. For example, the typical drive from the airport to Disney World’s Epcot is 25 minutes using tolls and 50 minutes without using them, while the typical drive from Disney Springs to Cocoa Beach is 70 minutes using toll roads and 110 minutes without them.
Companies frequently charge up to $4.95 per day for transponder rentals, which means that during a ten-day vacation you could spend $50 for just the ability to pay the tolls. In addition to this, toll roads typically charge people paying with a transponder the cash rate – the highest possible toll rate – for each toll.
If you know you will be doing a lot of driving, consider getting a Visitor Toll Pass. The Visitor Toll Pass is a simple solution for anyone renting a vehicle at Orlando International Airport, enabling you to pay road tolls electronically. The free transponder tag that you can hang from your rental car’s front mirror allows you to bypass the rental car toll devices and pay tolls on your own. You can get the Visitor Toll Pass by downloading the app or visiting the toll pass vending kiosk at the airport. Once you have the pass, be sure to decline the rental car toll transponder option on your rental contract.

During Central Florida’s wet season (June through October), it is not uncommon to experience afternoon rain showers almost every day. When driving in Orlando during rainfall, maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front as roads can get slippery, so be sure to reduce your vehicle’s grip and increase stopping distances. Avoid sudden braking and use your headlights to increase visibility. If the rain is extremely heavy, it may be safer to pull over and wait until the downpour eases.

It is almost impossible to leave the airport without paying a toll of some kind, especially if you are taking an interstate.

You need a proof of insurance AND a declaration of insurance or you will be forced to pay for their (expensive) insurance. The SunPass toll fob costs an extra $20/day to use (unlimited) or $15/day to activate it + the price of the tolls. Take note of ALL DAMAGE to the car PRIOR to renting the car!
CristiFeb 2026
Book with a well-known company and the pick up location is at the airport. If it’s too good a price to be true, then it isn’t.

Stick with the rental agencies that have locations IN THE AIRPORT! If you have to take a shuttle from the airport to some sketchy office; BEWARE! Once they get you trapped at that office, they can charge you anything; unless you're willing to catch a cab or an Uber to a different rental car company location…
Verified travelerDec 2025
Always rent in the terminal. There are too many sketchy rental firms offsite. You just don’t know if you’re going to get extra charges.
nicoleNov 2025
Book early and direct with an experienced company.
TiagoNov 2025
Have your insurance binder with liability and all that otherwise they might deny renting to you or they might push you to buy their insurance too hard.
mjsj9119Nov 2025
Book a rental company that is at the airport. The cheaper ones that require a shuttle will likely hit you with additional fees such as unlimited tolls.

Bring your EZpass if you'l be traveling the area. Bring proof of mv insurance so as not to purchase rental's insurance. Take photographs and/or video of the rental car to ensure prior damage is documented. Fill up with gas prior to drop off to avoid expensive surprise.

Make sure the company will rent to a person with a florida license. I found a company that doesn't the hard way; at their desk at 1am. Personally, I recommend Economy Rental Company.

Don’t choose routes without expecting to pay for insurance and a Fast Pass. If you choose not too, you don’t get your non refundable car.
Verified travelerJun 2025
Double check rental agreement, don’t trust the agent.
Verified travelerApr 2025
My friends who used Enterprise and had the fast pass were driving away from the airport about the time I moved forward one space in my waiting line. I'll try them next trip.
DouglasMay 2025
Try to choose a method where you can pick the card without having to go trough the company in the airport, some of them (specially Avis) have big lines that will take a big portion of your time.
JasonMay 2025
If you want the cheapest prices, book an off site company. However allow for more time to go between the terminal and rental site. If you want convenience, book a car at the terminal.
Verified travelerApr 2025
Always take photos before you leave. I have always done this but didn't this time because I thought they did this themselves now and it was all automated. Does not look like it.
DanMay 2025
Plan on paying around $80/day for the cheaper option. Insurance is what they don’t tell you about unless you have I think 4 certain insurance companies
KellieApr 2025
Make sure they offer a sun pass - I ended up having to pay 35 in tolls each time. Make sure car rental is at airport.

We had an awful experience with another rent a car service. They were adamant about using their local insurance company, who would charge us about $280.00 US for 5 days and refused to rent us their car based on our own reputable Canadian car Insurance coverage!. We ended up going back to the airport and finding Fox rent a car, which was so much better to deal with and honest... Would recommend tourists to do their diligent research on car rentals before booking car rentals in Orlando.
EliseApr 2025
Do not pay beforehand. They will not be able to make changes for you. If you wait, they can change your reservation if need be
Verified travelerApr 2025
Call well before to make sure they still have a car for brought. They over book on purpose.
AndrewFeb 2025
Go to the desk to arrange fuel option, don't just do fast pickup as we did where you go straight to vehicle. Buy a Sunpass, don't pay the surcharge for using toll charge device in car. Also a Florida toll prepay transponder card option in Airport which is cheaper than hire companies charge.
LarryJan 2025
I recommend that people rent a vehicle at the airport and definitely do not rent a vehicle from an off site company.

Highly recommend getting sun pass for tolls if you’ll be around Disney as tolls can be $2.50 for just one toll booth and there are several around that area
DarrellSep 2024
Go with one of the larger car rental agency’s that is closer to the airport with options to drop car off at a differant location

AlexNov 2024
Look for companies that provide all prices upfront and clearly stated. Call to confirm final rates prior to travel.
Verified travelerNov 2024
It's a good idea to get the EZ Pass for the tolls.
donSep 2024
The only thing I would suggest is to review the route you will be traveling. I was told that all the tolls were paid automatically so I needed to get the sun pass. The tolls that I ended up going through all had cash lane options, but that isn’t the case everywhere. I spent $30 to pay my $8 in tolls, that was in addition to actually paying the tolls.
KristinNov 2024
use the Florida Travel pass instead of paying for the EZPass, it's way cheaper. Don't let them bully you into extra insurance you don't need. Double check if they add an extra drive to your invoice without clearly explaining the charges.
LoisSep 2024
Most all rentals will cost the same. Choose a car or rental located already in the airport. Often even a rental that looks low in price is usually a gimmick and far from airport.
RobertSep 2024
If you have a SunPass, make sure you can use it with your rental. I had to drive through all of the toll booths so it wouldn’t trigger the rental cars toll reader.
AllanNov 2024
Go with one of the better known rental brands. Be prepared for a long wait and be prepared to push back if your insurance or credit card covers the insurance for rental cars.
Verified travelerNov 2024
Look into toll roads and where you are driving to know whether you want to purchase the toll package. Review your insurance coverage to know what you need.

Insurance rates should have been posted on website, to have an idea about rates.

Check your rental agreement before you leave the garage.
Verified travelerAug 2024
My advice if you go to Florida more than once per year is to sign up for your own SunPass and bring it with you or bring your EZ Pass from home because there are a lot of paid roads in Florida. We always use a credit card that covers the car insurance so we don't have to take out extra insurance. And we NEVER rent an Economy - too small! Unless you plan to stay in Disney and never leave, you will definitely need a rental in Orlando; it's huge and spread out
Verified travelerAug 2024
The best and affordable rental car company is FOX. They have many vehicles to choose from at a fraction of the cost. I particularly like renting trucks for the space and comfort. Just be sure to return on full fuel to avoid additional charges.
RobertAug 2024

You don't need the toll pass, there is a cash lane and they do give change. It may be $1 more for cash but unless you're using the toll roads frequently, just pay cash.

Just reminder, USave is outside of airport. Must take a shuttle. We made the mistake of not reading that and walked most of terminal before looking up details.

You have to buy the 'toll pass' or have to stop at each toll booth and pay each time. Wasn't aware of that. I guess with Surprice you will always need to travel with a copy of your insurance policy, unless you want to have to buy theirs.
Verified travelerMay 2024
Bring your auto insurance policy ID so that you don't have to buy additional coverage. They seem inflexible on adjusting any price after the fact, so make sure you confirm the rates in the rental agreement issued match what you had in your original reservation.
DamonApr 2024
$14/day is not $14/day. Bring quarters for tolls unless you’ll be using more than $11/day in tolls. Cheap rentals make their money on insurance and other options. I have no idea how to get around the agency requiring their insurance, so...
Verified travelerMay 2024
If you don’t mind an extra few minutes of driving you can easily avoid the Tollway. Sunpass charges like $15 a DAY. For us it wasn’t worth almost $100 when we knew most of the time our car would be sitting at Disney.
Verified travelerMar 2024
Choose your rental car options carefully. In the future I might use a car share like Turo In the future. I would also consider ordering a visitors toll pass ahead of travels because Orlando has a lot of toll roads.

Call them in advance and ask what kind of insurance they require. Many of the vigger companies dont have insurance requirements, but these smaller, cheaper ones do. They then require you to pay outrageous fees for their "additional coverage."
Verified travelerMay 2024
Orlando has a million toll roads. Get the toll pass if you will be daily driving in and around Orlando. Also double check your car check out receipt. They will intentionally lie about the fuel level on there.

The gas station convenience store across the street from WallyPark and Advantage Car Rental on Butler Road sold regular unleaded more than $2.00 per gallon more than average prices on the area. Plan ahead and don’t go there!
Verified travelerApr 2024
Be sure you're renting from the airport, and be aware that about half the companies operating out of the airport are scams. The prices look low, but that's because they all tack on mandatory surcharges.
Verified travelerMar 2024
Deal directly with the rental car company and not use consolidator services. The price may look low but they will catch you in some other way and jack the price up tremendously.
MARYANNFeb 2024
Yes, new comers to the Orlando area usally take the easiest route from the airport to the Orlando attractions.I find it the best way out of the airport would be to take 528 east to exit 16 staying to the right at the split at the exit off of 528 on to 417 to 535 and 536 which is a very short drive instead of route 4 which can be very congested at times.
Verified travelerJan 2024

Renting in Orlando: I prefer the off-property car rental places such as Advantage Car Rental at the MCO Airport. Access is easy and you will avoid the poorly designed and crazy-busy on-property traffic pattern. Local Driving: When you drive on I-4, just realize that you will be stuck in heavy traffic going west toward Lakeland or Tampa or east toward downtown Orlando - often stopped or crawling - for 20 to 30 minutes. Stay in the middle lanes(s) when possible. Once this thinking is kinda built into your travel estimate, you're good! Drivers aren't generally as aggressive as, say, Boston Rt 128 or Florida East Coast I-95 drivers, yet there are LOTS of them! There is always quite a bit of traffic on I-4. Polk Parkway, John Young Parkway, and other alternative routes are usually good for travel and busy but not maniacal.

KAYAK’s top tips for renting a car in Orlando
Roads in Orlando are generally catered to tourists, which makes navigation easy. Taxis in the city can get expensive and hotel shuttles to various parks can get crowded, depending on the season. If you plan to visit any of the parks or attractions, a rental car gives you the option of packing extra snacks, drinks, and other essentials without having to carry it on your person.
Most major car rental companies are located on-site at Orlando International. They can all be found on the A-side and B-side of the Terminal on the Ground Transportation Level (Level 1). If you decide to use a car rental company that is not at the airport, most companies provide free shuttle transport from the airport to their off-site locations.
You must have proof of insurance in order to drive legally in Florida. You can obtain insurance through the rental company, but, to ensure coverage, check with your personal insurance before traveling. When driving through rainy conditions, windshield wipers and headlights are required to be on. Seatbelts are mandatory and all children under the age of 5 are required to be in a federally approved car seat. Speeding fines are doubled in construction zones, so navigate with caution and be mindful of your speed.
You can expect traffic delays during rush hour at 7:30-9:30 am and 4:30-6:30 pm. Toll roads are the best way to avoid delays. Most rental cars will already come equipped with a SunPass sticker so that you can move through the toll without stopping. If the rental company does not provide the pass, be prepared to have plenty of quarters ready for each toll booth.
Enjoy the flexibility of having car rentals in Orlando to explore all there is to see in the city and nearby areas. One of the main attractions in Orlando is Walt Disney World. With cheap car rentals in Orlando, you can get there from downtown in around 20 minutes, as it is about 15 miles away. As for Universal Studios Florida, about 10 miles from the city center, a car rental conveniently gets you there in about 15 minutes. Take advantage of the freedom of having your own vehicle to discover some of the nearby beaches, lakes, and state forests, as well.
The car rental agencies located in the Orlando International Airport (MCO) terminals are highly-rated and have convenient on-airport sites. Enjoy the comfort of not needing a shuttle bus to get to your Orlando car rental, right upon your arrival. Make your way to the R1 level of the parking garage to check in, there are two parking garages (A and B) where you’ll locate your rental vehicle. There are plenty of car rental services with vehicles available to pick up directly from the airport, such as Avis, Hertz, and Budget. When you book cheap car rentals in Orlando through one of these airport agencies, you’ll be on your way to exploring the city and its attractions in no time.
Like other larger cities, there can be a significant amount of traffic in Orlando, especially around rush hours. In this case, to avoid getting stuck in a jam, stay away from the main entry and exit highways around work commute times between 7:30 am and 9:30 am, as well as 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The roads known to get clogged are mainly Interstate 4, the segment of U.S. Route 17-92, as well as Taft-Vineland Lane along the southern end of Orlando.

The rental experience was great, but there were some unfamiliar quirks with the car that were not intuitive. The gear shifter has a different process for shifting the car into park. one morninh the car wouldn’t start because it was not in park and we needed to take an Uber to our destination that day until we figured out why it wasn’t starting. Also, the fuel fill cap would not open and we didn’t know that the electric door locks switch needed to be used to release the fuel inlet door.

At check in felt very pressured to upgrade everything. Was given incorrect information about the insurance to convince me to purchase. Found the pressured sales at check in uncomfortable. The fob didn’t work very well- the battery must have been low and so it was annoying to lock, unlock and start the car. Often took multiple attempts which was inconvenient. There was no wait to pick up the car which was fantastic. The return of the car was very smooth.

I was randomly given an EV. I was asked to pay $27 for the convenience of having them charge it on the return rather than me “spending 3-4 hours charging it.” I was renting the car to get from the Orlando airport to Vero Beach and turning it in there, so I agreed to the charge. When I drove out of the parking garage, I saw that it only had 5% battery left. I drove right back to the drop off and asked what to do. I was told to park the car and go to the on site office. There I was told I needed a verification number that I had turned the car in. No apology for my inconvenience. So I walked back to the drop off area (again with my luggage) to find someone to grove me the required number. Got the number and went back to the office (with my luggage). A lovely lady said she would give me the same car, but it would be a hybrid. I asked if I could get a refund on the $27 charge for the electric charging and that I would fill the gas before returning the car. I was told no. She said, however, that since I had already paid the $27, it would only cost me $8 more for the convenience of having Hertz fill up the car when I dropped it off 1-1/2 hours later. I got to my destination without further incident, but 2 hours later than planned.

Took way too long to get car. Took 2 hours and we only got a car because someone at the Payless counter, who had no customers, helped us get a car. The lines at Budget and Avis were ridiculously long and the communication with the garage to see what cars were available was completely inefficient. We had planned to drive to watch the Artemis space launch, a once in a lifetime opportunity for our children and they missed it because Avis is poorly operated. The employees were kind and empathetic but completely powerless and said they've complained to management but nothing ever changes. Avis clearly does not care about the customer experience.

Avis at MCO does not clean the vehicles. The first vehicle we received, a silver Camry with New York plates, was dirty and had sand all over. The Camry was exchanged for a silver RAV4 with Floria plates (DY9-5BZ), this suv was DISGUSTINGLY dirty and smelled like a dog had urinated all over the car. You could actually see the pee stains on the seats. After complaining for the second time, we were given a Chevy Equinox which was in much better shape and even though not clean, it was acceptable. The rental car price was great but upon arriving at the rental counter, the staff wanted proof of my auto insurance. It took me about 10 minutes to locate a copy of my policy on my smartphone. Once it was provided, the clerk said “you need to purchase Collision insurance from us”. I told him I never have purchased additional insurance from rental car companies in over 30 years of renting cars. He tried explaining that my policy was insufficient and that I had to buy theirs. I started to argue advising that I have full coverage with my insurance. He finally agreed to rent the car at the price that I was quoted without having to pay for extra insurance. This appears to be a newer scam to get people to pay more.

Ended up needing a last minute rental after an evening flight into Orlando. I couldn’t find anything available anywhere but luckily my teenager found Ace available through Kayak and saved the day. The wait for shuttle pickup was so long we weren’t even sure it was coming but this was my first time waiting on a shuttle from the airport to rental place so maybe that’s normal. We ended up getting a Lyft from the airport to Ace which was an extra expense but it was probably a good thing because when the shuttle came there were lots of people and the line was even longer. The line when I arrived, prior to the shuttle that I would have been on was long and moved kind of slowly. However, my time at the counter was quick, easy and pleasant. The car itself was great, no issues there at all. Drop off was a breeze but did have a 10 min wait for the shuttle to the airport which was fine. Overall, I felt Ace was a good value and good service and I’m extremely grateful for the last minute availability! For me personally though, I think I’d rather pay more to rent from the airport for the convenience of it instead of shuttling back and forth especially with kids in tow.

Couldn’t tell you the full experience because we left the lot without the car. In addition to what was paid ahead of the scheduled pick-up time, we were asked for an additional deposit which wouldn’t be a problem if they had a tap feature on their card reader. I reserved a Ford Transit (or similar) 12-passenger van. The reason I booked this rental with Dollar via KAYAK was specifically because pricing was competitive and seemed better than most other options. I booked this more than 3 months prior to our trip. Once I arrived at the Dollar rental desk, I was told that my reservation was for a 7 passenger minivan. Despite me showing emails with the reservation details showing the rate I paid and showing the type of vehicle, Dollar refused to honor the reservation. I ultimately was charged more than $500 extra for the upgrade and additional fees for the full size van, and I definitely could have booked it for cheaper than that back when I originally reserved the vehicle. I got screwed because of a communication breakdown between Dollar rental car and their online booking agent (KAYAK) and Dollar refused to accept any accountability for it…the question is, will Kayak take any responsibility

Very good car debatable Experience. Will rent with them again
Vehicle was fine. Staff were rude, smug and arrogant. Tried to force me to take extra add-ons I didn't want and put me through to ringer to prove that I have the correct insurance with my credit card by making me pull up the policy, reading it line by line to them, showing them that this is the policy for the card I paid, then calling the manager over and doing it all over again. And even then, they still tried to tell me it wasn't the right coverage because it's a Canadian credit card and the amount wouldn't cover the vehicle price in USD when in fact the policy states that it would cover up to the amount of the full vehicle value, in the country it is being rented in. After all that, they still would not let me take the rental unless I took liability insurance through them stating that they do not take credit card coverage and wouldn't allow me to use my personal insurance. I have rented cars many times in other states and countries and have never dealt with this. It felt like a scam. Don't let the cheap rental price fool you because that is just the reason for them to get you in and charge you twice as much for the most basic insurance, plus whatever additional things they will try and get you for.

When we got there we asked about upgrading because another family we traveled with couldn’t rent a car (their credit card got declined). Routes took full advantage of the situation and turned a $90 rental (about $190 with insurance) into $200 more to just upgrade to a mini van. Honestly I thought it was a lot, but was happy to help the other family. Get home and see they have now charged us almost $500 for the upgrade only, on top of the &190 I already paid for the first car. If we hadn’t changed our reservation, no complaints. But when someone one tries to do good and help another family in need, we got taken for it.

We never picked up the vehicle as shuttle was full twice it came. We waited for an hour and then got a rental from another company at the airport.
There were 5 people In line. It took 2 hours to get to the desk. Many employees came in and saw the back up but instead of helping the customers, they chatted with other employees and chatted with the only person behind the counter, slowing the process even more. The vehicle was very dirty. The mileage on my paper work said the vehicle had 200k miles when it only had 150k on the odometer. The paper work said the gas was at 3/4 of a tank. The vehicle actually only had 1/4 tank. The A/C knobs were broken. The steering wheel was sticky and there was dirt of the passenger seat and trash on the floor in the back.

The car itself was fine. Pick up was complicated and delayed, and after waiting more than 30 minutes, I had to call for pick up to the offsite (kind of creepy/ isolated) site. And then we began the haggling- extra “compulsory “ insurance, extra daily charge for tolls, my car insurance not being sufficient. Essentially attempts to quadruple what I expected to be the “total” rental price. It’s such a racquet.

The pricing was utterly "un-transparent". CarRental8.com charged us $277 for the week. But, in the fine print (though without specifying the amount), it turned out that OC Car Rental had other charges -- to the tune of $222 (a $20/day charge for "mandatory supplementary liability insurance" -- despite the fact that I am covered by my regular auto insurance - and a $35 "car rental center fee" and a $25 "enhanced disinfecting cleaning fee" and a $14 "surcharge"). This is truly despicable behavior by a car rental agency, and I do plan to report it to the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation.

I reserved this as a referral from Kayak to Rentalcars.com. Their website, along with the confirmation email stated a "Total Cost" of $111.72. When I picked up the car, the agent presented me with "additional local costs" amounting to an additional $71.18. This included an unheard of "Pickup Fee" for $10.00 and "Dropoff Fee" for $10.00. I have never been charged these from any rental agency, anywhere in the world prior to this. None of these "additional local" charges were listed anywhere before pickup. The contract stated "Total Cost" of $111.72, and that's what I expected. In addition, the $250.00 "security deposit" has not been refunded or credited to my credit card as of yet. I have tried all morning to reach the agency to inquire about this. They answered only after about 30 minutes of putting me on hold. The representative could not give me any reasonable answers about the additional charges, but said the security deposit would take 5-10 business days. I will monitor that. Please remove Global Car Rental from your list of agencies. They have committed what I believe is a classic case of Bait and Switch.

This was the worst rental car experience I have ever had. First, the instruction to call for pick-up by the shuttle when arriving at the airport was answered by AI not a real person. It did not allow to speak to a human. They did not give a time frame other than saying to go to the meeting place and the shuttle is on an event 20 min schedule. Not true. 1 hour later we finally made it to the rental car establishment. Other people ahead of us were all angry. Everyone had disagreements at this place over one thing or another. When it was finally our turn 30 min later, I declined insurance because I always use my own. Nope! They told me they did work with my insurance company (a very well known one by the way) and that would be $200. What?!? Ok that somewhere in the fine print that they only make known when you have booked and arrived. Also not disclosed was the fact that their building is right near the freeway in which you must pay a toll to cross. So they charge you $15/day for that. I felt completely scammed. Nobody spoke good English and they laughed at everyone complaining. I will never use this place again. How they are still in business I don’t know. Nearly 2.5 hours later (after an already long 6 hr flight) we were finally heading to our destination. Horrible experience.

This was basically a scam. It was advertised as $14/day, but ended up costing about $95/day, due to all the hidden and non-optional fees. I urge you to take the company (and all associated companies, RentCar, etc.) off your website.
Kayak makes u think you’re getting a great deal but when you get to the rental spot they charge u all this extra fees and bullshit even when you have full coverage to begin with. Terrible experience. They refused to accept my insurance card, despite my calling GEICO and having them send a binder that explicitly stated it covered ALL RENTAL CARS. The agent, Patricia was polite and I do believe she tried, but it is crazy(and I believe illegal) to require you pay for your own liability insurance that is mandated by law, anyway... But to refuse to accept valid insurance and insist on charging a large amount in order to rent is completely unethical(and likely illegal). I had to get an Uber to another rental place after spending more than an hour there. The shuttle was courteous and Patricia was polite and respectful even as she complimented the policies that I understand were not hers

If you live in Florida and rent a car in Florida they’ll put a 2K hold in your cc and you have 100miles per day limit. So, you have an extra fee for unlimited miles, unlimited tolls plus the hold. If this is your escenario (live and rent to use in Florida) I don’t recommend them.
The pricing I was quoted on Kayak does not at all reflect what I was charged at the counter. In addition to the car rental price, they also included a $27/day fee for using my own insurance. But the most egregious issue is that they seem to be purchasing positive reviews with discounts: I shared my experience with a representative and they said that they would give me a 10% - 20% discount if I answered my Kayak/Expedia review according to their directions.

It took awhile for the shuttle bus to get to the airport for pickup. My insurance provides coverage for rental cars. Unknown to me, they require a copy of my insurance policy to 'verify' that I have that coverage, or else I have to buy their insurance coverage. My flight was delayed and I got to their facility about 8pm. She said I was supposed to have picked up my car by noon and would 'have to see if they still have a car available and if they could verify that my original rental fees were still available". They decided to let me have the car. It is dark outside and they have the black vehicle out in a dark area where I am supposed to inspect it for any damage. I brought the card back in to her where I marked that I didn't see any obvious damage, but trying to see any surface scratches or scrubs was impossible. She said, 'you didn't write the mileage down''. I said the rental agency normally does that. I went back out and got the mileage. At this point I was frustrated and really needed to get on the road as I had a 1.5 hour drive to get where I had to go and be up for a very early meeting. I have never gotten a rental that didn't have a full tank of gas, EVER. About 10 minutes down the road it started to rain and I was trying to figure out the wipers. I then noticed it only had a 1/2 tank of gas!! When I got back I mentioned this to the lady behind the counter. She said it was my problem because I was supposed to inspect the car before taking it. Lesson learned when dealing with Surprice!!
Sorry was the worst experience ever no one at airport knew this company. I even rented a taxi to take me to the car rental and the taxi man drove me around around the airport charged me $40 and did not find a set car rental called them numerous of times never answered finally they answered pick me up 45 to an hour later went to pick up the car was not very happy with the car they wanted to give me so I had to walk out and leave and I’m just waiting for a refund. The worst! Flight delayed, hard time to find a proper communication channel, was able to WhatsApp them about the delay, but when I got to the counter the guy started with “Since you didn’t show up at 6am it’s been 8 hours and we cancelled your reservation, you have to find an email from Expedia and fill up this and that”. I had no Expedia email, somehow made the guy stop with that and continued processing my rental but was a pain, 30 minutes at the counter to collect your information, trying to make you pay for their insurance even if my GEICO insurance binder says it covers rental cars up to 100k value and I had additional insurance through my American Express which charges me extra $17.95 for every rental car I book because they have this extra insurance. The guy wanted to read the contract to me. I signed it, you don’t have to read. Let’s talk about SHUTTLE…. Don’t rely on their shuttle. It’s bogus. Monday afternoon an 15 people were seating there on the ground outside 45+ minutes waiting for the shuttle. I ended up calling an uber as many did too. Be aware of the hassle. On drop off they have nobody to receive the car, you park there and leave the keys. If someone park beside and ding your door, you better have proof. 5 days later and the hold on my card is still there.

On the site when we tried to do the rental, their prices and fees should be clearer not that when I go to pick up my rental then I’m being told I have to pay extra

It was a little confusing to find the right pickup location for the shuttle at the airport. And when we got to the office they didn't show our reservation. So they had to download it in order to find it which took time. Also they had some requirements that wasn't on the original rental info like they required of $500 deductible Insurance in order for us to use our own insurance.
The experience was horrible! First, they are not located at the airport. Although there is a shuttle, I only found that out after arriving at their office.Second, they advertise a very cheap price for what they call a “Luxury SUV,” but they provided an older Toyota RAV4 instead. Finally, while the price appears cheap at first, they charge additional fees for insurance (approximately $60 per day), $74 for SUNPASS activation only + tolls, and other extra charges. A $30-per-day car easily ends up costing around $150 per day. I strongly recommend avoiding their service.

They have a low daily rate for the rental because they screw you when it comes to insurance. Even if you bring proof that you have it, they still charge you A LOT.

The staff and car were fine. What I did not like was the fact that I was not aware of the $300 I had to pay. That was not disclosed when I booked online. Online it was one price but when I picked up the car they added another $300 plus held another $250. I really was not happy about that…..all fees should be disclosed when reserving the car.

They never came to pick us up at the airport and we had to rent a car from another rental agency. We were texting and speaking to them immediately after we landed and they kept telling us someone would be there to shuttle us to the car rental agency but no one ever showed up until they finally closed for the night and then no one would answer the phone when we called. They wasted an hour an a half of my time promising us that a shuttle was on the way but no one ever came and we had to take an Uber to our hotel. So terrible experience with Kayak and OtoQ

This is horrible. Do not use this group. I paid for the rental, when I got there, they did not have the vehicle I paid for. They were not able to help or answer any questions. Do not use this place you will be very disappointed.

They charged me hidden fees. I had to agree with their terms in order to rent a car at the counter because i needed a car.. I prepaid car rental when i booked it through Kayak. They charged me additional $102.08 for 2 days rental when I get there. I called customer service afterwards but they all had heavy accents and could not communicate. It’s a scam. I want refund of $102.08.
Tried to modify rental reservation due to TSA issues almost 22 hours in advance and was not able to. Therefore had to yield my reservation. Booked with another company. Would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.
The good: they had a car as promised. The not good: they lured me in with a “too good to be true” price a week prior to arrival; then informed me I needed to carry an absurd amount of insurance on my policy, otherwise I need to purchase their insurance at $35 per day. No effort was made to make me aware of this policy prior to arriving. By then you’ve taken the shuttle way outside the airport; and your basically stuck with a huge bill you weren’t planning on. Better to be upfront with customers re: the real cost of the rental before committing to it. But again, they did have a car available.

Staff was very friendly !! Car was clean and very reliable. Although I was not expecting an extra $230 in fees that I had to pay when I got there. I paid $52 for the 3 days I was going to be there when I made the reservation, but when I got there I had to pay an extra $230. They advertised it to be $7/day + tax which was a great deal so I jumped on it. Because of that I won’t rent from them again. I’ll stick with the rentals at the airport.

Disappointed enough to not request more of your services because I closed the business and when I arrived at the agency they demanded a new insurance and asked me for an extra $650. Everything must be dealt with before, both the price, requirements and documentation and when the client pays, the business is closed, and it is criminal that we cleinyes are surprised when we arrive for what we buy or lease. President Baiden said that these bad practices must end so that there is confidence and business is generated in the country. You are ruining the system. Now I want my money back in full since I had to rent a car elsewhere.
Shuttle was late, after we waited a long time, called and promised 10 minuted delay, "Stuck in traffic", waited much more. Remote agent claimed we were late for pickup time. Fees and upcharges and delay. Would not accept our proof on insurance, extra fee. Finally getting keys, had to search lot for car, 90 degree plus. Car was not washed. Windshield covered with Florida bugs. Car was parked so close had to climb in from passenger door. Car was not the promised make or model. Returning to airport at 2:00 AM front right tire shows low air pressure. Totally reassuring! Entire Zoom experience was unnerving. Cost savings? Unlikely. Confusing changes of company names on "paperwork". Who are we actually dealing with? Fees not hidden, just buried in pages of verbiage. Very inadequate and unclear explanations of charges. Do not Zoom.

Check in is in a sound proof box in the sketchiest car rental pull off ever. If you uber drops you off inside the gate they will get trapped inside-watched this happen first hard. Since check in is over a zoom call. Check out is soooo sketchy. And we never got shuttled there or back since the shuttle could never be found.

I went on your site to book a car, partially picking the location to pick it up as the criteria. Beforehand I got an email from Expedia about my rental car and it was at a different location. I went through you, not Expedia, so I was surprised. I called and checked and discovered it was also at a different location - not as convenient as the one I thought I was going to, so it took longer to get to the site. When I got to where the GPS took me, I didn't see any sign with my rental car outfit listed. I drove around the area and came back to the location and had to park just off a very busy road as the gate was closed to enter. I finally went around the gate and found a not very helpful person who told me my agency was there "too", We pulled in, and he started complaining where we parked (no where did it say where to park - I was just being dropped off). I grabbed my paperwork and sent my wife/ride off. In the process of getting the paperwork done I showed them my driver's license and was then informed I would be limited to 50 miles a day and .75 per mile over. I was leaving on a trip early in the morning and discover this now. I asked where it said that in my paperwork as I had not seen that. I had also put in my address ahead of time and no one mentioned this limitation. He would not give me my money back. All I could do was call my ride back and leave. VERY FRUSTRATING AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I called Expedia and all they could do was to write the outfit an email and ask them to return my money. NO HELP AT ALL. I am informing my organization to never use that rental car company again, and I'm highly suggesting they never use Kayak or Expedia in the future. If you all read all the fine print ahead of time, you are one in a million. Put it upfront. DON'T hide your policies.
Scam they try to charge me 570 at pick up!!! Not use this company , other people walk out also

This was hands down one of the most stressful, heartless experiences I’ve ever had with a car rental company. I rented a car from AddCar in Orlando, FL and clearly told the employee at pickup that we were driving to South Carolina to see my dying brother. He had every opportunity to tell us we were not allowed to leave the state of Florida. He said nothing. Everything seemed fine. The next day, after arriving in South Carolina and staying overnight at a hotel, they remotely kill-switched the car. The vehicle would not start, would not shift into neutral—completely disabled. We were stranded, panicked, and had no idea what was happening. When we called AddCar, they told us we “weren’t allowed” to take the car out of Florida and claimed it was written in bold letters in the middle of the contract. That is completely false. It was buried in fine print, and the so-called policy states that if you leave the state you must pay $1,900 PLUS $1 per mile. We were already about 450 miles away. After waiting, a manager finally called and demanded the $1,900. We explained we did not have that kind of money and reminded him that their employee NEVER mentioned this restriction—despite knowing exactly where we were going and why. He eventually “discounted” it and still forced us to pay $1,000 just to get the car turned back on. Then, as if that wasn’t enough, we were told we now had to drive the car back into Florida, return it as originally scheduled, and figure out our own way back to South Carolina. This cost us an entire day of driving—time that should have been spent with my dying brother. This company showed zero compassion, zero accountability, and uses predatory fine-print policies combined with remote kill switches to trap customers into paying outrageous fees. What they did was cruel, stressful, and completely unnecessary. If you value transparency, basic human decency, or not being stranded hundreds of miles from home—DO NOT RENT FROM ADDCAR. There are plenty of other rental companies in Orlando. Choose literally anyone else.
