Thrifty will secure an authorized credit card hold to cover the estimated amount, plus an extra deposit fee. The requirements include a valid driver's license and a proper credit or debit card with names matching those on the DL. In addition to the standard rate, they pay a young renter fee at the end of the rental period. If you list an additional driver aged between 20 and 24 years, they will be subject to a surcharge known as an underage driver's fee. I booked a ford transit and when I got to the rental counter they told me no I only booked a standard minivan. So the vehicle was falsely advertised and had to end up paying an extra 200$ to upgrade the vehicle and 75$ for tollls. I’m extremely disappointed with the quality of the service. This is the second time this same this has happened. I prob won’t be using the app again to book a rental car.Reviewed 24 Jul 2026

As soon as I got there, they didn’t have any cars, except an upgrade for an additional 145.00$. Of course! Spend more money-so gross how these companies are able to do this time and time again.Reviewed 22 Apr 2026

Agent was dishonest and insisted that I needed to add insurance by Florida state law. Argued with me for almost 5 minutes. I needed the car so I conceded. Then called customer service to address the issue and they could not help me. Will never rent from Thrifty or Dollar again.Reviewed 10 Apr 2026

Long lines at mco with only 2 agents trying to sell u everything under the sun. Drop off was strange. U drop it off at mco and they only indpect it when u are are gone and send u an email 24 hrs after saying it was no damage. What if they said there was damage ? How can u dispute it ? Your 1000 miles awayReviewed 8 Mar 2026

I waited in line for 90 minutes to pick up my vehicle. Two workers were there for the first 10 minutes, but then one left the other alone. Unacceptable - no other company was taking that long.Reviewed 19 Aug 2025

Customer service was not exactly the best. Good luck renting an electric vehicle. They are so not helpful in explaining details and rather want you to buy extras. Drop off was fineReviewed 17 Jul 2025

This is the third time that I have paid for a car that the rental car company classifies as an intermediate, only to be given a compact or sub-compact SUV. this time it was a Kia Soul that according to the thrifty website is a compact car, not a intermediate, but you already know that. Your counter agents are well versed in attempting to upsell the client on insurance and toll road transponders. Under NYS law neither are required and I had my own transponder with me so I accepted neither. NYS and I are fully aware of these upsell techniques.Reviewed 28 Apr 2025
