Took way too long to get car. Took 2 hours and we only got a car because someone at the Payless counter, who had no customers, helped us get a car. The lines at Budget and Avis were ridiculously long and the communication with the garage to see what cars were available was completely inefficient. We had planned to drive to watch the Artemis space launch, a once in a lifetime opportunity for our children and they missed it because Avis is poorly operated. The employees were kind and empathetic but completely powerless and said they've complained to management but nothing ever changes. Avis at MCO does not clean the vehicles. The first vehicle we received, a silver Camry with New York plates, was dirty and had sand all over. The Camry was exchanged for a silver RAV4 with Floria plates (DY9-5BZ), this suv was DISGUSTINGLY dirty and smelled like a dog had urinated all over the car. You could actually see the pee stains on the seats. After complaining for the second time, we were given a Chevy Equinox which was in much better shape and even though not clean, it was acceptable. The car was clean. We waited at the rental counter for over an hour. Then the car was not the one they said and it had a broken seatbelt which made taking that many passengers not possible.Reviewed 20 Mar 2026

Avis did not tell me that the rental location would close at 5PM. Even the Avis counter in the airport said they would be open till 6PM. I got there at 5:45. there were Avis personal there but they only handle selling used cars. Sorry! Will not use Avis again.Reviewed 22 Feb 2026

Absolutely appalling customer service. Understaffed, 40 minutes to get to counter/agent, and once there, very rude, aggressive and not welcome attempts to upselll everything from unneeded insurance to vehicle type and when not accepted, the agent became surely and clearly 'punished' me with a very small car after I rented a midsize. There was a huge line to get the car already reserved that took near 1-hour. After the car return I was charged for some services I didn't agree, even after being explicit with the company not to add services besides the one already included in the original reservation. Got in contact with the company afterwards to complain and was told that they had some small letters on the contract that allow them to proceed this way.
