KAYAK’s top tips for renting a car in Surrey
Excited to explore Surrey and the greater Vancouver area? Well, there is no better way than in a rental car. For instance, say you want to catch a Vancouver Canuck’s match, you could drive there in 20 to 30 minutes or you could spend 40 minutes to over an hour on public transportation.
Many visitors like to pick up their rental cars as soon as they land at the airport. Travelers with flights landing at Vancouver International Airport will find the rental car desks just outside the airport’s terminal, on the ground floor of the main parking lot.
Surrey is located in one of the world’s northernmost rainforest biomes and, as a result, the city experiences its fair share of rainstorms. Hydroplaning can be a worry during sudden showers that occur most frequently between October and March. If you find your car to be hydroplaning, simply ease off the gas and avoid any large steering motions.
Surrey, as a part of the greater Vancouver area, does experience some moderate rush hour traffic and congestion. On a normal workday, drivers can expect rush hour to pick up at around 7:00 a.m. in the morning and to last until 9:00 or 9:30 a.m. In the afternoon, the rush hour starts back up again at around 4:00 p.m. and cools down by around 7:00 p.m. Highway 91 is the main road to avoid during rush hour, particularly during peak hours.
Getting around in your cheap car rentals in Surrey requires you to be familiar with the city's key local thoroughfares. King George Boulevard is the most crucial, as it links to the Trans-Canada Highway and provides access to the city's downtown core. The Fraser Highway is another significant route, spanning north-south and linking to the Lougheed Highway. This highway also provides the main access to the US border traversing at Douglas, BC. 88th Avenue, which travels east to west, and Scott Road, which goes north to south, are two other key thoroughfares. In addition, Surrey is linked to the rest of British Columbia by the Trans-Canada Highway, a major route for east-west traffic.
Before you get on the road in your cheap car rentals in Surrey, inquire about the toll policy. The city of Surrey features two main toll highways, the Trans-Canada Highway and the Port Mann Bridge, both of which are subject to tolls. The tolls differ based on the model of the vehicle and the time of day, and the fees are paid electronically at specified locations along the highways. In addition, several minor toll highways are located throughout the region, including the Alex Fraser Bridge, the South Fraser Perimeter Road, and the Golden Ears Bridge. The tolls on these roads are also collected electronically.
When riding in Surrey car rentals, you should abide by the traffic rules. You should always keep right unless you are overtaking. At stop signs and red lights, you must come to a complete stop. At crosswalks, you are expected to stop for pedestrians and not proceed into the path of an oncoming pedestrian. When making a right turn at a junction, you must yield to oncoming traffic. When making a turn, merging, or switching lanes, you must also indicate your intentions. Always fasten your seat belt and never use a mobile phone or text while driving. Additionally, every car must be properly licenced, insured, and in operational condition. Lastly, you must have a valid driver's licence.

When I went to pick up the car, the price was higher than on kayak. I told them I was gonna put in a complaint so they refused to rent me the car I work in the FILM ministry. I’m a Teamster. We went with vehicles all the time from all different rental companies this is appalling and I certainly will spread around as much Negative information as I can. They should not be in business and you shouldn’t be in business with them it just makes you look like a pathetic company.

The could be better.. but not to bad for a good car!
Had to wait for 1.5 hours for car pick up as it was not ready. After getting the car the fuel was at 1 bar which I wasn’t expecting plus the rear view camera was not working. I had to take the vehicle for check up of rear view camera and problem was not fixed which took another 1 hour.
