I hadn't realized that if you choose whatever the least expensive car available is--a 'mystery car,' rental companies now reserve electric vehicles for that option. I was relieved Agent Romy offered me a hybrid instead. I arrived at Avis at 12:45pm and the counter was closed and no one was there. The sign said they should have been open until 1pm. I was unable to pick up my reservation. I instead had to book a same-day rental at a location 45 minutes north.
