Service and attitude of staff was excellent. Breakfast was delicious and the evening desert and cocktails in the Bistro Bar overlooking the water was superb. Hot tub and pool was welcome and relaxing after a busy day hiking in Strathcona Park, The Wave - Relaxation Massage was first class and the perfect way to end our vacation.
The room. It was very poorly appointed and with the queen bed against the wall, it was impossible to get in-out of on one side. But mostly the view. or lack thereof.. On a previous visit, what I liked best was the view, overlooking the bay towards Comox. This time we were abutting the parking lot with a tiny peak of water when looking out the porch glass door. A disappointment after traveling 5K miles to be locked into an uncomfortable space with no view, Part of the problem is that when booking via a third party, seems like the customer is put at the "back of the bus". Lesson .... book directly?
Ocean Front View
Booked a room on the main floor due to mobility issues when we arrived our room was on the 2nd flr. We were offer the only room on the main floor that was available it was the last one yet to be renovated and updated. WTF??? Why would we take that?? The upstairs room must have been updated years ago! If we liked we could also upgrade to a king room as they were in a section of the resort that had an elevator but that would cost an extra 80.00 a night from what were paying. We took the room on the second floor and did the stairs. We felt we were being punished with the leftover, last on the list dumpy room because we used an online service to book. Most uncomfortable beds we have ever had at any place we have ever stayed. Not sure how old the mattresses were but I haven't seen ones like that for many many years, my parents owned a resort 30 some years ago and they looked very familiar even the handles were falling off. When we inquired at the front desk the next morning about what could be done with the terrible mattress we were told that a lot of people like a harder mattress and they offered to put on a foam topper, as well move us to a main flr room. We returned from a day out our suitcases had been moved to a new room but they never put the topper on the same ugly worn out hard mattresses, Mgmt said that they didn't have anything for the queen rooms only for the king beds and there was really nothing they could do except maybe put a few comforters down as a topper??? Needless to say we did not stay the second night and checked out instead of suffering through another sleepless night. Basically the facility had beautiful grounds well cared for but the rest of the place minus the lobby was dumpy and run down .
Overall Great Experience
We loved the Hydropath and the waterfront view. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
The restaurant was a bit pricey and the food was just okay.
