Excellent 9.6
Pros: Staff were fantastic especially our room host Shanakya, everything we needed was taken care of with minimum of fuss! Food was also superb, especially the breakfast. Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to any traveler.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The location is stunning, beautiful beach and lovely garden. You do feel like you're in paradise. It is worthwhile to choose the Ocean View room and enjoy the great view. The rooms are nicely decorated, very spacious and clean and you can even watch the waves crush from your bathtub :) Nice and fast check in / check out process, you get all the info you need. Everyone at the hotel is very nice and welcoming, trying to make your stay as nice as possible. My hostesses, Sayuri, was extremely nice and helpful, always there for any questions or support. I thoroughly enjoyed the garden tour by the hotel naturalist, Sudheera, that I found very informative and interesting, so recommended. Nice Yoga classes with a view. Breakfast is great, lovely pool area and service. Everything is clean and well maintained.
Cons: 1. The services were very expensive. I understand it is a 5 stars exclusive hotel but perhaps the strategy can be revised and more guests would consume more and be happier. $ 135 for the spa treatment or $ 75 for a one course + desert for one person is pretty pricey... 2. Everyone in the hotel is very nice and helpful but sometimes it can be a bit too much. You are asked at least 5 times if you like the food or if you want coffee, etc. Sometimes you prefer to just enjoy without being interrupted that often. So just look for the right balance in terms of customer service. 3. I would've liked to have a bar by the beach. Perhaps that was not available due to the off season? ... 4. The pool should be opened later than 18.30 since there are no other activities to be done (other than eat and drink) after this hour. 5. There was some refurbishing activity going on right next to the pool. I did not mind that as I preferred to spend the time by the ocean but this information should've been made available prior to booking as it can be disturbing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Had a wonderful stay at this lovely resort. Got a villa with the pool and 24/7 butler Piyal who is absolutely highlight of my stay. This place is full of fun facilities and activities (surfing, cooking class, yoga, gym, ecological park, spa) with many nice restaurants. The morning meditation, freshly made breakfast with gorgeous sea view is the best way to start my day. The staffs here were so helpful and caring. Highly recommend the service at this hotel and I’ll deff choose to stay here again
Cons: Nothing to complain.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The amazing view from the luxury bedroom, the exquisite service of the staff, highly professional and kind, ready to satisfy any request. Once you arrived a typical welcoming ritual is waiting for you, and you are followed by a personal concierge during all the staying. The food at the buffet is delicious, higher than standard
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Amazing location, fabulous staff and great food! We had the best time there
Cons: A lot of little bugs due to the weather
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The ambience the, treatment you receive when you arrive. Pasan our Guest Relation Officer was very welcoming and helpful in every possible way
Cons: There was not much not to like about.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Forthcoming and very friendly staff Highest standards in service and amenities for guest
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The staff - especially our host Madu and the driver Dinnish - was really special to us. We had a birthday at the hotel and Madu did everything to make it perfect. + 10 people made a birthday card and they sang a song and they decorated the room with flowers and everything - so nice! Dinnish got up in the middle of the night to drive us to the local hospital to get medicine to an infection. He did everything in his power to help.
Cons: If you want alcoholic drinks - do not go there in Binara full moon poya day. They do not serve it (but you can find wine in the minibar in the room).
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Cleaning
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 9.6
Pros: As per previous reviews I read, this place is amazing. So relaxing and all you can hear are the crashing sounds of the waves which drown out all unwanted sounds (i.e. sound of children in the pool!). The view from our hotel room was amazing and I could have spent all day looking out at the sea. The nature walk with the hotel’s nature expert was super interesting, even for the children. We were even invited to a rice planting ceremony! The staff are all incredible and the restaurant food exceptionally good for both breakfast and dinner. Drinking water in glass bottles was provided for free everywhere in the resort and even sun cream was provided by each deckchair. Surprise activities were provided on rainy days (it was monsoon season). On our second before last day, we had an accident in our room at night (children playing!) and I couldn’t imagine a better response from any hotel. They whisked my husband and son off to a nearby hospital to get our son’s head checked and were so thoughtful to call me in my room (I had to stay with our toddler) to give me updates. They even covered the hospital bill! Exceptional care and service in every way.
Cons: I loved everything, but if we hadn’t had the half board offer included in our 7 night stay, we would have found the food very expensive, though the quality is indeed fantastic. The pool bar was quite expensive for lunch, but we ate so much at breakfast and dinner, so we didn’t have to order much for lunch - just for the kids.

Pros: Excellent service!
Cons: The sand flys for the beach.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The location on Mawella beach was amazing. The staff were fantastic. The accommodation was the best and the food was also great
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We spent Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day at this wonderful place. The villa is beautiful and the setting is out of this world. The sea out the front of the property is perfect for swimming and the water is clear and warm. What really sets this place apart though is the service. They made Christmas so special for us and we can’t wait to come back!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This place is magic! If you are looking for relax, privacy, exclusivity and beauty, this is the place. Our room with a private pool was huge! You can have a private dinner or go to the Taru Tangalle Social restaurant, the other property just next to Taru Mawella. Every single detail is just perfect! The food is so good!!!! The garden, the flowers the huge trees are unbelievable! Congratulation to Heshan, the manager, for his kindness and smile. Congratulation to all the staff because each one of you are doing a great job for caring so well of this place and make it a small paradise. Thank you! This was for sure one of the best moment that we had in Sri Lanka.
Cons: Nothing!
Excellent 9.6
Pros: excellent service,great locations
Cons: The sand fly form the beach
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Friendly staff Great quiet beach Atmosphere Cleanliness Beauty of the villa Great staying!
Cons: Big waves at the new year seasons
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The staff and the location
Cons: A spa on the premises
Excellent 8.8
Cons: Small property size No activity choice (except lying on beach with sun)
Excellent 9.6
Pros: We stayed in the beautiful 2 bedroom villa which was very luxurious and lovely. Great spaces all around to chill out, whether on the veranda, garden or by the pool. The food was delicious
Cons: It is quite quiet, which is great if you want a secluded break but not many other restaurants close by. It is however only a 15 minute Tuk Tuk from hirikitya which has lots of restaurants and a relaxed surfer vibe
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The property was beyond our expectations! we had an amazing time in Taru Villa and will definitely go back. The place was simply beautiful, clean, and the service was beyond excellent! specifically sanjeeva and sujeeva made it feel more than a five star hotel stay! And the food was fantastic! Better than any other place we ate at in Sri Lanka. The owners really know what it takes to make a guest happy. Thank you Taru for making our trip to Sri Lanka one for the books

Excellent 10.0
Pros: It is the BEST place to stay I've seen in all of Sri Lanka - both homey/cosy and boutique/with great architecture. Part of the staff is family, so I guess this also helps to maintain the feeling of home. Food is very, very good and the beach is a gem - very secluded (almost private), clean, with awesome waves (good for swimming), and real working people going into the ocean to fish at 4am. AMAZING EXPERIENCE for people to want to get away from it all and really relax. 9.9/10.
Cons: Not bad things, but rather something to take into account before going: 1. Free breakfast is great but basic - eggs, toast, some fruit and coffee - it's not a breakfast bar. You need to pre-order lunch and dinner in the morning at a separate cost to get the best food experience. Budget ~15 USD/day for the two meals with beer - will be more than enough. 2. This is a beach to relax. Look elsewhere for jet skis, scuba diving, etc.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Incredibly good value for money, Isana is a real gem.
Cons: nothing!
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Really nice and kind staff, especially the "older" waiter
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything was just perfect, so far the best hotel, bed, beach, food in Sri Lanka! Hope to come back one day! Thank you so much!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Best stay in Sri Lanka. Superb japanese inspired hotel with the beach as your backyard. Great breakfast and amazing staff. Loved it.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Isana is located right on the beach, so our room had an ocean view, balcony with a hammock and our shower had an open ocean view. The staff were amazing, friendly, helpful and we always got individual attention. I was so impressed by the food, I only had Sri Lankan dishes but they were all tasty and flavourful. The house was large, beautiful, peaceful with a large hammock in the garden and lots of deck chairs for relaxing. It’s a quiet beach so at times we had the beach all to ourselves. Would def recommend this to anyone looking for a peaceful ocean front get away
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The location is amazing for a complete switch off! Amazing, almost private beaches, one after another. The house itself is really nice and spacious. And super clean and all the staff is sooooo nice! I had a really nice room upstairs with a balcony and a huuuge bed. Oh and a hammock!!
Cons: I would work a bit on the menu. Me, personally, I would prefer more local dishes in the menu. Coconut roti was amazing, though!! Thank you for that!
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Amazing room with sea view Clean and very confortable Good breakfast I had a fish barbecue one night and it was really good Possibility to rent a scooter for 1500rps a day Very friendly staff!
Cons: Location a bit far from city centre
Excellent 10.0
Pros: One piece of heaven! The beach house is on a breathtaking empty beach, with an amazing garden. We stayed in room 3 and had a great terrace and slept with the sound of the waves. Staff is very nice, breakfast and dinner were very good.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The main draw card of this property is the beautiful stretch of beach at the end of the garden. We saw less than 10 people every day - it’s practically deserted and private. Clean white sand, clear warm water, although the current is quite strong. Rooms are spacious and clean, albeit a little dark, but the little outdoor balcony with your own hammock more than made up for it. Good water pressure in the shower, courteous and helpful staff. Breakfast was a little basic for a room at this price category, but overall quality of food was decent.
Cons: Would’ve loved to have some insect spray in the room. Given the design of the room (there are little holes for ventilation in the doors), there is no way to keep mosquitoes out so we were eaten alive despite the netting over the bed. Wifi signal strength from our room was just okay. You pay a price for having such a long stretch of beach pretty much all to yourself - there is nothing that is within walking distance. Tangalle itself is about 10 minutes away by tuk tuk. You can rent a scooter from the guest house for 1500 rupees/day which i would recommend - makes it easier for seeing the local sights (handy tip - don’t go to the reputed 2nd biggest blowhole in the world that is nearby - it’s probably the second biggest disappointment in the world). Given it’s remoteness, for those who don’t want to eat 3 meals a day at the guest house, there is a small shack on the beach about 30m away called Muthu’s - they do a killer grilled fish for a killer price.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Awsome accomodation. Beach for ourselves! They also lent us bodyboards for free and arranged all the transport around. Very friendly and helpful staff!

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff are fabulously friendly and welcoming without ever being anyway invasive. The rooms are a dream, the pool is gorgeous and simple features like the fruit stand at four, the tea and cake, the cinema and free popcorn are all great. Especially recommended are the yoga classes (with Aditiya in particular) and my partner was inspired by her meditation with Mr Garvin. It’s a wonderful place and don’t forget to also order off the menu for breakfast, the egg hoppers are unreal!!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: wonderful stay at the UTMT - starting from the welcome to the departure. A great location to spend relaxing days in a caring, beautiful surrounding. The color concept and the stunning view will be in my memory forever. Also the pure Ayurveda spa day was great!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Excellent food through out our stay
Excellent 9.6
Pros: First we went there just for a coffee but we decided to stay there. The hotel has a great genius loci, amazing view with one of the best sunsets I have ever seen. Great beach with stunning pink sand, lovely pool, beautiful rooms, it is a hidden gem in Sri Lanka. Welcoming guests was great and we want to thank the lady at the front desk for her professionality.
Cons: The staff at the pool bar during afternoon (not breakfast) is a bit mess. You wait quite a long for drinks, and they seem to have difficulties to understand how the service in 5 star hotel shall look like. Nonetheless they are trying and we believe they will get along soon. So be patient.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Nice weekend out with friends, made a great use of plunge pools and ayurveda center. Very helpfull staff, specialy receptionist.
Cons: Nothing critical or adverse comes to my mind, Maybe just a suggestion to replace plastic straws with an eco friendly replacements (and we were informed, that they are already on order). And an accommodation for drivers should be part of the deal.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Fantastic views, wonderful staff, excellent food, superb pool and grounds. The attention to detail was outstanding, both in design and in service.
Cons: N/a
Good 7.5
Pros: amazing look and feel, good vibes, cool details, super friendly staff
Cons: Too expensive for what you get, all activities on the side are for example still extra charged for such as yoga. Further, the menu from the restaurant is very limited. It’s a cool place but I’ve stayed in better more ‘special’ hotels for less
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything was perfect: from the welcome on arrival to the goodbye at checkout. We were planning to stay one night, but ended up staying four nights. We really didn’t want to leave. What makes this place special - besides the great food and beautifull landscaping as well as the best Spa of Sri Lanka - is the people. We felt so enormous welcome. Really genuine. The staff is wonderfull: very friendly, thougtfull and attentive. All the facilities are great. We loved the spa treatments, enjoyed the wonderfull food and service of the restaurant and the inhouse cinema is a great and original extra. Special mention also for inhouse trainer Aruna for the daily workouts or bicyclerides in the fields. Our room was spacious, well designed (compliments for seperating the airconditioned bedroom from the other rooms) with a large bathroom with separate bath that fits two persons. The turndown service, inclusief a notice with program of the daily activities for next day, was very nice.
Good 7.9
Pros: Very nicely located hotel on a hill with nice view over the sea from the restaurant area and some (but not all) rooms. Nice pool area with 25m basin next to restaurant and nice private beach area at 3 minutes walking distance. Very friendly and helpful staff and very clean rooms. Nice style of hotel and rooms with large beds and wooden walls with its own UTMT color branding. Good food at restaurant and free cake and fruit during happy hour in afternoon; daily changing dishes in addition to standard menu (Curries are delicious!). Good Ayurveda treatment offerings including corresponding food. Private pool next to our apartment was very nice and relaxing. We would definitely recommend to go there and enjoy a few days of relaxation in a beautiful resort.
Cons: High season also raises the prices in this hotel (such as in most others as well). WiFi reception varies from good to bad over the hotel area.

Cons: Cockroach in bathroom.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great view of the ocean fantastic to sleep with the sound of the waves. Great staff always willing to please. The best hone made pizza I have ever had. The pool a big bonus. Rooms a little dated but extremely clean. A small distance from town I think is a bonus away from backpacking district and a cheap tuk tuk ride into town. Really great restaurant on the ocean just across the road.
Good 7.5
Pros: Clean and comfortable, hotel manager was very lovely and helpful, she was more then happy to help with any questions you have.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Great location. Funny little drive but fab views over the sea.
Cons: One noisy night. Loud music over the road from 11pm?
Good 6.7
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful. The view was really nice and the beach is just stunning!
Cons: We came off season and it felt like we were the only people there. It was a bit scary... There were mosquitoes in the room and no net.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Friendly staff and the calm surrounding. Staff helped my dad and my new born with their food and other facilities. Was very kind and helpful in all the way.
Cons: Beach is across the main road and walking towards the beach from the place is not practical. But a nice sight to the room of the beach.

Pros: Location, breakfast

Excellent 9.6
Pros: Location by the sea, arrangement of the rooms
Cons: Bathroom is small and had issues with drainage..
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Great breakfast and friendly stuff. Also very good location.
Good 7.9
Pros: View For family ok Young couple .. No
Cons: Cold shower, no toilet paper, blocked toilet, safe not working. Bed uncomfortable. Check in was over 45 minutes wait.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: The location is great - on a mini peninsula with sea views all round - and there are two decent beaches on either side. The pool is a good size. Our room was a great size and had good sea views. The bed was large and comfortable. The air conditioning worked well. We ate twice a la carte and twice from the buffet - each was good and the buffet was relatively good value for the selection available. The dining room terrace was great, with views over the rocks and out to sea. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and reception arranged a taxi for us to our next destination in Sri Lanka.
Cons: The room was dated and needed a refurbishment. The mosquito net covering the bed was full of large holes. Several windows in the room were extremely dirty (see picture). The minibar fridge had been turned off and left shut, and so it was mouldy and foul-smelling inside. The toilet seat was stained brown, and the toilet itself wobbled when you sat on it. The grouting around the shower was stained and mouldy. The curtains were stained and some of them were ripped/falling from the wall.
Good 7.5
Pros: Location of the property and swimming pool.staff was very attentive and helpful.it was off season and there were very few guest but still they managed to put a buffet for us.
Cons: Some rooms are not maintained well example we have to move to a new room middle of night due to AC stopped working it was hectic with three kids.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Great location right on the beach and is close by to Hiriketiya. Super affordable place, with a huge variety of tasty food on offer for breakfast.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Amazing staff their attention to guests is thoughtful and genuine.
Cons: The restaurant isn't wheelchair accessible but the staff were amazing and carried my dad up anyway.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: The ocean view dining
Cons: The guy at the front desk who did my reservation was irritating. Not flexible or friendly.

Pros: Good location. Big pool
Cons: The waiter had proposed cheese omelete, but "forgot" to inform, that It is not included in breakferst cost. It is not a big expenses for me, but I don't like this style.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Great location, beach within 1 minute walk of the cabana. The cabana and the bed was very comfy! People where very friendly and the pool is realy amazing. The ambiance and the quality of the food in the restaurant is realy good! The prices of the menu are quiete expensive compared to other restaurants in sri lanka. I realy enjoyed my stay and would definetely come back!
Cons: The menu card of the pool restaurant was not very extensive. The italian dish was very small portion for the price. The taste and quality was great! The beach is quiete small and surrounded by rocks. In september the waves where quiete high and strong stream. Not very safe for swimming
Excellent 9.6
Pros: We enjoyed the fact that it was quiet and the cabanas were placed well apart giving enough privacy. It felt like you were in a jungle by the sea. Direct beach access was truly convenient. Everything about this place was just too great for a 3-star property. We are definitely going back there. I would highly recommend this place for families with children too.
Cons: Some Sausage / Bacon would have been good for the Western breakfast. My Husband enjoyed his Sri Lankan breakfast very much. Also, tea/ coffee in-room would have been very helpful.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It's the 2nd time we've stayed there and it was exactly what we were hoping for and wanted. Relaxed, chilled out and perfect little cabana in a great setting. Very friendly and helpful staff and great food and beers!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Quiet and beautiful
Cons: Loved it all
Good 7.1
Pros: The cabana is pretty nice, we had it 25 mt for a good beach. The swimming pool is nice and the bar close to it is fine.
Cons: Resturant Is just basic level, however the breakfast is ok. The light in the night is limited and there is no protection from the coconut falling. There are several wild dogs around as all Sri Lanka. Nice dogs actually and not danger but looking for attention and this turn to undesired visit in the private space. A better fence would help. Restaurant/bar on the beach are not best deal.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Such a nice and quiet place to relax, we didn't even leave the hotel area for our whole stay of five nights, because everything you need is right there. Two nice restaurants, a very nice pool area and a beautiful beach. The cabins are looking very good and have generous sizes. The villas also looked great from the outside. One of the coolest things: it's like a wildlife park. We have seen peacocks, bunnies, one big lizard and heard many exotic birds.
Cons: Nothing to complain about.
Excellent 10.0
Cons: Massage room is not very confortable and clean
Excellent 9.2
Pros: I booked a room for the cabin, however when we arrived there we found that the cabin was too open and didn't match the photos very much (in terms of decoration and maintenance). So we asked for an upgrade to the village rooms and they easily did us that favor! The room was super spacious, very clean and comfortable! The pool is very nice, big and clean and the beach is right in front of the rooms.
Cons: The cabins could take some maintenance (but the Villa rooms are the best!)
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Everything just perfect. Fantastic huge territory place in jungle and on the beach with great view, sand and many restaurants. Very high service, big desinged rooms, air condition. Very good restaurant with delicious food and very kind service. We are staying for 7 days and even once didn't go out from the hotel.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: This has been a real highlight of our trip. Service was impeccable and the owner gave us lots of excellent recommendations and tips of both activities and restaurants. Excellent beaches within a 4 minute walk in either direction - one for snorkelling and the other for an experience of a breathtakingly beautiful beach. The view was spectacular from everywhere in the property and the rooms were really comfortable. Would definitely look to return.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything- staff were brilliant and the view amazing
Mediocre 2.9
Pros: The view was resonable
Cons: This hotel does not have any ammenties .... food is not available through out the day or evening unless ordered 24 hours In advance ... no alcohol is available and that is not advised on website .... the fans do not work there is no fridge and the water pressure does not work the internet does not work and the walk to the beach requires great fitness in the heat .... the staff are totally unhelpful and insects will eat you alive and your underwear. No swimming pool nothing here for the price
Good 7.9
Pros: The view the location was amazing
Cons: The extra charge for breakfast and the lack of choice
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Excellent place . Great accommodation, location, food . Aslam and all the staff were so helpful. Would love to return and would definitely recommend.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Lovely peaceful place to stay, very close to silent beach and a bay for swimming - great local fish restaurants nearby too
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Amazing view from the room Nice property with a fellow peacock in the garden Welcoming staff Great location in-between two beautiful beaches (in a walking distance)
Cons: Despite asking, the room was not tidy during our 3-day stay as it should be expected from this price range accommodation. Food is not good value for money (ie breakfast).Go having a breakfast at Fisherman beach ! (;

Pros: Fantastic view, friendly helpful staff. Surrounded by nature ie beaches, wildlife. Very relaxing and private.
Cons: Restricted swimming in beaches, noisy fans, weak internet. We visited during New Year celebrations so most family run restaurants were closed.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything was great!! The style of the hotel is like a traditional design beach house. All super clean with a nice fresh smell, breathtaking view of the sea from balcony, lots of privacy and space in the room. The location is perfect, only 2-min walk from the nicest Sri Lankan beach called Silent beach. The hotel staff are nice and help you organise different activities, including yoga (they have a dedicated open space room at the hotel balcony with a sea view), sea turtle watching, cookery class, etc. Highly recommended and looking forward to come back again.
Cons: Nothing!!! Everything was just amazing.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Amaaazing view on the ocean and the coast. The beaches nearby are beautiful and just 5mn walking. Easy going staff, various options of activities (yoga, surf, etc)
Cons: Simple breakfast that was charged 4$ could be included in the room and not charged extra... No food nor drinks available easily in the hotel, only with anticipation.

Pros: Everything is really nice at this wonderful resort. The manager Manju was so helpful and kind to us: at our daughter's 12th birthday he organized a delicious dinner with big fruity cake which our daughter will never forget! He also help us with all the information we needed and organized our trip to Gaulle . The chef prepared for our trip a delicious packet lunch: we felt really spoiled and it was so nice!! WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! DO NOT MISS IT!!
Good 7.9
Pros: The view on the pacific ocean The beaches near the hotel even though waves were massive and swimming was dangerous. Garden of the site Safe site
Cons: We rent a chalet an was expecting 2 independent rooms but it was not the case. The site is a bit outdated (decoration look old style) and need a bit of maintenance Despite the site is in a wonderful environment it is a bit far form Tangalle and you need a tuk tuk to reach the village
Okay 4.2
Cons: My friends and I spent a week in this hotel in January 2019. I would like to provide you with a short objective description of this hotel. Let me start with the positives. The hotel has a really nice location - it is located in a very nice garden and it has a direct pathway to a really beautiful beach. That would be all the positives. The hotel rooms are very basic (comparing to the price you have to pay for the room), but you can figure it out when you review photos of the rooms. The breakfast is very poor and the hotel restaurant is overpriced. This was one of the reasons we had dinners outside of the hotel. After reading previous reviews of the hotel restaurant we did not even want to try the hotel food. But what really made our stay in this hotel miserable was the hotel management staff. I’m travelling for business and holidays for nearly 20 years and I have never encountered such attitude. They were arrogant, not friendly, and treating us with superiority, as we were there for them and not they to help us. I’m talking specifically about 2 upper management staff, a man from Sri Lanka, and a woman from Germany. There was another management staff member (a man from Italy, I guess) who helped us to resolve some burning issues we had. This was actually the only person from upper management who tried to fix issues without further escalations to booking.com. It is important to note that other staff of the hotel was very friendly and helpful – my comments is purely regarding the upper management staff. One may think that the facilities are most important and staff is not going to spoil the holidays. I thought so too, up to last month. It’s true, it can spoil your entire holidays. So please do think twice before you book this hotel.
Good 6.3
Pros: Property was well situated...good beach...good chalet
Cons: The manager Mr Manjhu...declined to give me a check out bill whilst checking out.. Whilst checking in...they kept us waiting for 1hr..saying room not ready. They put chlorine in the pool whilst we were actually swimming in it...hows that possible i mean.. No towels in pools.. No hot water in chalet...which didn't bother us much but overall the manager and receptionist didn't give me the respect i deserve as a human being.. forget me being a client coming to spend money over there
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Amazing location by a beauiful, quiet beach. Nice pools. Spacious family rooms. Good breakfast. Free yoga twice a day.
Cons: Not many restaurants within walking distance
Good 7.9
Pros: Great beach, big area not fully build, 2 Pools.
Cons: Staff compared to our stays in Sri Lanka was't great)(except manager).
Okay 5.8
Pros: Two pools, lots of space. Clean rooms and spread out resort. Beach sheets were great. Had snorkels to borrow for the day.
Cons: No blankets in rooms! Only sheets so you should bring bedding if you need it. Breakfast was okay; too many sweet cake type options. Do not do the yoga if you have any concept of what yoga is. It’s more like a series of weird, unlinked and potentially unsafe stretches from the 1900s. Better do it yourself if you need to practice!
Good 7.5
Pros: Accommodations was basic, but clean and spacious. Beach was undeveloped and felt almost exclusive to the resort. Restaurant food was good and we made regular use of the independent beach bar which served excellent seafood.
Good 6.3
Pros: The spot is wonderful really, the beach incredible, calm, powerful and the lodge peaceful in a heaven garden
Cons: We were alone in the hotel so it must be so great normaly to enjoy... There are 2 swimming pool with salt water from sea so it literally burn the kids' eyes. The washroom was broken so all the water came on the floor. The service was really poor, simple breakfast, horrible coffee and the food amazingly expensive. 200€ To feed us (3 person on 3 lunch only) and really it was not tasty or great. Sorry but the place is magic for the beach, the calm and the view, but ,accomodation really surevaluate ...
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Hotel is big, lot of space (during our stay hotel was not full so we have almost the feeling to be alone) beautiful garden, direct access to the beach, 2 swimming pools, you can rent a scooter directly on the hotel

Pros: Right in the centre of town you don’t need to get a taxi anywhere. The staff are very friendly we had a banana smoothie on our arrival. The room was big and modern. Just outside our room was an area to chill with a great view of Tangalle. The breakfast was lovely too.
Cons: The shower was freezing. We only stayed two nights so this wasn’t a problem for us. After a busy day it was quite refreshing to have a cold shower.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Easy access with ample parking space. The room was clean & the staff was super friendly Too. The stay was worth for the price paid.
Cons: Wish there was a mini bar in the room.
Okay 4.6
Pros: The breakfast was good here. As well as the shower- but to be honest the place was poorly kept and unfinished.
Cons: There was a hole in our ceiling, the bathroom wasn’t clean really and the plasterboard was unfinished and the walls paper thin.
Okay 5.8
Pros: Location was good...
Cons: No cleaniness.. room service not available on demand.. food was horrible plus they did not have any cook to give us good food.. flush broke down on 2nd day.. the rooms and bed were not cleaned properly.. overall not worth the money spent..
Good 7.9
Pros: Big room with good A-C and bed
Cons: Breakfast was great but there was no possibility for lunch or doner
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Really good location and excellent breakfast!
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Modern hotel with rooms in 3rd and 4th floor, many of them with view on the coast line and the palm trees in the surrounding. Quiet area. Beautiful Goyambokkan Beach about 5 minutes with tuk tuk. Big clean rooms, good bed, sufficiently big cupboard with hangers; very good and rich breakfast, personnel very friendly and helpful, big terrasse with view on the coast line for breakfast, drink water dispenser in the breakfast area
Cons: The WIFI was only working on the terrasse, no minibar in the room but water dispenser in the breakfast area
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Located in the centre of Tangalle, only a short walk to the beach and restaurants. Made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. Huge room that was very clean and comfortable.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: The view and the beds. Room was big and good service Fair price.
Cons: The place is under construction and the toilet is not fresh enough.
Good 7.1
Pros: Great view of Tangalle Tea brought to our room Bedrooms were very spacious Good shower
Cons: Hit and miss WiFi

Pros: Everything it was our best accommodation so far after 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. Ideal location, beautiful gardens with cabanas or great budget rooms with balcony’s. Staff were lovely Madu especially was very helpful, such a nice guy. Breakfast was excellent as was all the food & so close to the beach you can hear the waves if the birds aren’t singing. A very difficult place to leave booked 1 night stayed 5. There’s more than one beach, if you fancy an adventure look for a silent beach.
Cons: The WiFi worked best early in the morning but not so great later in the day but who cares really about WiFi in paradise
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Mandu was great. Loved the swimming pool.
Good 6.7
Pros: Location and the effort of the 2 guys working inside and the auntie that clean the rooms to keep this place with good aurea and atmosphere
Cons: Pics does not match the reality, especially for double standard room, the garden need more care, trash around and pool with dirty water
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Nice set up of the bungalows Very natural and calm Amazingly kind and helpful staff, especially the gardener Omlette and fruits for breakfast
Cons: Pool was a bit milky but totally fine
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The staff was very friendly to our children and they could run as the garden area was pretty spacious. In and around the pool there is always a small shade at every daytime. The animals we could see in the garden: peacocks, a monkey gang, lizards, geckos, monitor lizards, many many squirrels and some more. Also it was possible to eat in private on the outside area of our cabana, which was very comfortable after the kids were sleeping :-)
Cons: Maybe the dogs that come by to check if there is food to grab. Also the wifi could have been better. (both seem to be a general situations as we had both the last 5 accomodations in Sri Lanka). Also we found a few safety issues due to our 15month old boy: some things needed to be fixed - so we told them and the boss promised the repair work would start the next day - they just hadn't recognized this (which seems to be honest) and therefore this attitude should be counted also as a positive point :-)
Excellent 9.2
Pros: The location is great as an easy short walk to a beautiful beach. You can have happy hour for drinks on the beach and then walk back to the hotel for dinner . Also great swimming pool Meals are tasty , especially the fish dinners. Breakfast is eggs , fruits and nice bread toast. The owners and staff very friendly. The bathroom is basic but large and clean
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Lovely staff food good
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Nice big clean room and big bed... quiet location with a nice swimming pool .. friendly guys who didn’t mind we working int he small restaurant as the WiFi in the room was not so good ... perfect for people who just want to relax the beach is also 5 mins walk away and pretty quiet also
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Really nice find, just 2 minutes walk to Goyambokka beach. Staff were amazing. Cabana was large with 2 rooms plus a bothroom with a hot electric shower. Would recommend for a family who like Sri Lankan style homestays. The kids loved the pool and loads of wildlife in the garden. One of our favourites after 10 stops.
Cons: The pool could do with a bit of maintenance. Some tiles broken but nothing major. Very little to complain about really.
Good 6.3
Pros: Swimming pool Location Breakfast Take mastercard
Cons: It was off Season, the swimming pool was not clean, room were too humid that we had to ask for other. Price is too much for this. You can find better around. Must be renovated, feel old.
