Pros: This was such a perfect get away. The staff is amazing. The rooms are perfect and the beds are so comfortable. All the little things such as the granola in the room with milk and orange juice was such a nice touch. We were given a wonderful fruit plate as well and the fruit was so fresh and delicious. would defiantly stay here again.

Cons: I think with covid they did everything they could to make it perfect. I would not say there was anything I dislike

Pros: There are many things to like about this hotel. The location is excellent and right downtown. An easy 50-yard walk from the ferry. The view is amazing (Penthouse 1) and the staff very friendly and super responsive (thanks Theo!). Theo and the hotel staff were extremely responsive and they use text (you need to opt-in) to correspond directly with guests. This may sound strange, but it turned out to be a great feature and they always responded within minutes (if not sooner). Whatever request we had was resolved immediately. A+ service! We had a view suite that was very large and comfortable. The room was quiet and clean. The bed was very comfortable. Parking is available on-site for an extra fee (recommended as the local parking limits are strictly enforced.) We stayed in Penthouse 1, which is a split suite with the (only) bedroom upstairs. This will be a problem if you have mobility issues. Many restaurants are nearby within walking distance. The marina dock, close to the hotel, is well used and very scenic. Many rooms have private outdoor patios to enjoy the view of this beautiful location.

Cons: Nothing to complain about here! The only item to be aware of is that access to many rooms (many all?) require stairs. The staff will help you with luggage, but if you have mobility issues this could be a problem.

Pros: The Island in is within walking distance to the ferry, restaurants, shopping. Monique and Matthew were the best, very helpful and just a text message away. I would definitely stay there again.

Pros: Our stay was amazing. Amanda is a great host and the inn is absolutely beautiful. The contactless check in went smoothly. The place is in perfect location close to Moran park and is a great way to continue your day after day in the forest, relaxing while enjoying the birds at the pond. It is very quiet, charming and calm.

Pros: The property was cozy and comfortable, located right on a pond where we saw ducks (but unfortunately no otters!) and deer that are clearly not afraid of humans. The host Amanda is very warm and welcoming, and holy cow, was breakfast delicious!

Pros: Simple, beautifully prepared dish for breakfast but with no extras like cereal and toast. Great tea and coffee. Rather strange juice mix served in glass canning jars. Cosy comfortable sitting room heated by a wood stove made almost magical at night with flickering candles and the gentle trickle of water fountains. Very comfortable bed. Exceptionally obliging and friendly innkeepers. Very well maintained property in Woodland setting with lovely views over Sportmans Lake.

Cons: Our room was rather cramped with a queen size bed and oversized furniture. Excellent heating and A:c systems. Biggest problem for me was that every flat surface was crammed with Knick-knacks etc. so there was little room for our own stuff. Shower was very good.

Just far enough away from town to feel in nature but still conveniently close...views and privacy are spectacular. Food was sooo delicious and accommodations made for dietary restricions were no problem Its the best bed and breakfast ever...I would take this place hands down over a luxury hotel!!!

Pros: The breakfast was great. They took my girlfriend's food intolerances into account. They didn't have cell signal, but the wifi signal was great. Our room had access to a hot tub. The innkeeper was very nice and was out of the way, to make you feel like it was your space for your stay. Equally between the harbors on either side of the island.

Cons: The trail to the parking area was tough to navigate around and between with a larger vehicle. I ended up backing into the exit to avoid making the loop. No complaints otherwise.

Pros: The location is very nice. The deck was a great place to enjoy the sunshine. Nick was very gracious hostand willing to help travelers not familiar with the area. The breakfast was very good with a variety of food. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.

Cons: The Picasso room is small for 2 people. No chairs, only a bench and window seat. The only place to watch TV was in our room. The driveway into the property is very steep, but once up to the house there is plenty of parking.

Pros: Wonderful host, adorable rooms with themes, beautiful view and phenomenal breakfast. Extremely accessible, and the host had really great insight into all of the fun places to go for activities as well as the best places to go out to eat. Was looking for a relaxing getaway and this was it. I would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone visiting the area!

Pros: The facility has not been updated since the 70’s or 80’s. The beds are old and you sink so bad your back hurts. The sheets and towels are so heavily scented that you get a headache, mold in the bathroom covered up by wallpaper that is bleeding through. Our “garden facing” room was really a road facing room with single pane windows so all the road traffic kept you awake at night IF you could get past the smell and the horrible bed to try and sleep. We paid for the weekend but left after first night it was so bad! Stay somewhere else. For the price of this B&B you can stay at one of the much nicer resorts on the island and actually enjoy yourself.

Pros: For us, location worked well- far enough not to be affected by tourist traffic and noise but close enough to be in downtown Friday Harbor within minutes by car. Breakfast was excellent both mornings, and Nick was pleasant and personable. (Loved the chocolate chip-banana cookies left for us to nosh in the evening with a cup of tea!) The home and room were comfortable and well-stocked with amenities. A large deck that wrapped around the front and side of the home had a view of the marina and the lovely gardens. Very clean, very comfortable.

Pros: My husband and I decided to spend the night up in the San Juans and we are so glad we picked Hillside House. It is owned by a very nice couple it was cry well kept and the breakfast was delicious!

Cons: Not thrilled with the fact that they no longer provide breakfast. Moreover, the restaurant is not open Wednesday or Thursday, which means you can’t even buy it. There are places to get food in town, but for this price I feel breakfast should be available, especially since it is available the other 5 days of the week.

Cons: Above my room guests were very loud and partying until 11:30pm. Ceiling was like a drum, constant banging when anyone walked. I left a voicemail at 11:30pm, because there was no one on duty at reception. I complained the next morning and checked out 2 days early as I could not tolerate the situation. I was told that that it was one of the guest's birthday above me. I payed $507.20 for one night, and didn't get any sleep. Unacceptable. I should have been offered the night as a comp, but was not. I have received at least 6 emails asking for comments on my stay, here it is.

Cons: Perfect location in town, on a hill, looking over the beautiful harbor. Our room led out onto a grassy area set up with chairs and fire pits. Bar & restaurant were trendy and the food was very good. I would go back here in a minute!

Cons: Location is great, quiet and with lots of space around the facility to hang out and have activities. Unfortunaty the front desk staff and in particular the older gentleman that also appears to be the owner, is unfriendly and as un-accomodating as possible. We booked one night and then extend it by another two. We asked to stay in the same room but he said that this was not possible. He said to check out at 11:00 and that the new room would be ready by 2:00. I have traveled a lot in my life, and have extended stays many many times. Never have I been asked to change room. And you would expect that they would try to do everything to put you into your new room, rather than the regular check in time. I checked with him as soon as I saw the eaning crew leaving our new room, just to get a very dry "room will be ready at 2:00". On top of that he offered to hold some perishable items for me, just tonplace them in a Styrofoam box without even ice. Too bad he ruined our experience. Maybe he should stay away from the front desk, because he is not doing his business any favors. Coincidentally during the 2nd two night stay they did not service the room.

Cons: The room had carpet that smelled like dirty socks. The “closet” was literally about 6-8 inches wide with room for 1 shirt. The mattress felt lumpy like it needed to be rotated or flipped. You can hear your neighbors above and next door easily. The hotel is quite a ways from the main area of Friday Harbor. You could walk it if you wanted the exercise, but otherwise you need a car.

Cons: Carpet in the room perhaps due to be changed, but still okay. Hot tub was closed for the season, and we were there in winter - the best hot tub season. Overall, still a very good stay for out Valentines Day getaway.

Cons: Tight quarters, coffee maker is French press. But, induction stove does not work to boil water. So, we had a cumbersome arrangement to put water in our cups, heat in microwave and transfer to pot. We went to nearby bakery for coffee the next day. We never meet the innkeepers (COVID-19) and so could never ask questions. Yes, we could phone, but our problem was during the breakfast making time and we did not want to disturb that process.

Pros: We stayed in a really nicely equipped ground floor studio. It had a full kitchen, queen sized bed, and couch/day bed. We arrived to fresh cookies and dog cakes! The fridge was stocked with a small milk and orange juice, and the pantry had snacks and lavender hot chocolate. We were very close to town and right next to a park. It was a really lovely couple of days stay!

Pros: Every room has a water view! And the view was fantastic! The hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The Museum was very interesting that explained the historical facts of the hotel.

Cons: We still had to make appointments to use the pool or hot tub. We were just staying one night. All spots were taken up for the next day already so we did not get a chance to use them. Maybe they could have notified us in advance so we could have made an appointment before we came?

Pros: Brunch at the mansion restaurant was very good. Bed, bedding, and towels in room were very nice.

Cons: The rooms are sorely in need of renovation. Furniture is of 1960s vintage and in only fair condition. For such a storied location and a beautiful setting, I expected higher quality room decor.

Pros: We love Rosario Resort, especially the Moran Mansion! We love the history of the building and strongly recommend the Saturday afternoon music and history "lesson" in the Music Room upstairs! The room rates are especially good in the winter time (compared to high season in the summer). The staff have always been extremely friendly and helpful for any needs. It was great to be there in the off-season and experience the Mansion decorated for Christmas.

Pros: I recall the food from prior visits as being good, but the new Exec Chef, Raymond Southern, has taken it to a whole new level. The food was excellent, and the staff friendly and helpful. The view from my room was incredible, and the off season rates made it very affordable. The comments about the front desk not being friendly are puzzling to me - they (and all the other staff) were very warm, all the more impressive as they had given up Christmas Eve and Day to show a nice time to guests.

Cons: The soundproofing in my room left a little to be desired - I could clearly hear the conversations of my next door neighbors. But if you're hanging out in your room on Orcas Island, you're doing it wrong.

Pros: Cute decor and comfortable accommodations. Easy to check in and location worked pretty well for our trip.

Cons: Hedges needed trimming, they are obstructing the view. Loved the porch, but could not see the marina very well because of the hedge. Disappointed restaurant on site wasn’t open at all during our 3 days. Location not close to any restaurants.

Pros: The property is quaint but it's located on a busy intersection and the traffic noise was consistent for most of the day and into the evening. The bed was fantastic and the coffee and breakfast set up in the room was convenient. the check in and check out was seamless and went as planned. The view from our room was just darn fantastic. Other guests were respectful of the quiet hours and privacy. Oh my gosh, the restaurant was wonderful. Make reservations, they are very busy.

Cons: Traffic noise. I would have liked an outdoor space off of our room. I can appreciate the historic nature of the property and understand why this would be a problem, but having a glass of wine at the end of the day while enjoying the view and the sunset would have been a dream come true.

Pros: Being able to stay on a boat gives you a unique experience compared to a hotel or typical B&B. It offered everything we needed. Loved the location and being able to walk to so many restaurants etc in Friday Harbor.

Cons: Nothing really...the only complaint is probably that the bed is a bit softer than I prefer, but I have a bad back so it can get a bit cranky on me sometimes.

Pros: Location, location and did I mention location? This place is premo for being right in the heart of Friday Harbor the town and marina. It also a unique experience to stay in a boat. Host was very attentive and looked to answer and questions/needs. Rate was very fair relative to other options.

Cons: We were very aware that staying on a boat is A very different experience than staying in a hotel - Parking is not right outside your door, quarters are smaller, etc. These are small and trivial sacrifices to get to stay on a boat. What disappointed us was the state that the boat was in. Of course a 50+ year old boat is going to show wear, this boat also showed lack of maintenance and some of the maintenance done looked shoddy.

Pros: We got upgraded to the forward berth, but in the end, would have preferred the Captain's quarters in the stern because of the light and windows. Other commenters have slammed the stern stateroom for being cramped and having a low ceiling; but you are on a ship for goodness sakes! Tight quarters and low ceilings come with wooden sailing vessels - UGH! We would have had plenty of room in the stern for two. The forward berth comes with the salon (living room), which is quite spacious, and has decent headroom, if that's what you are looking for. Bathrooms are tiny, but that comes with boats. If you need a larger bathroom, there are great showers in the Marina facility (which is standard). We are sailors, and we didn't use the bathrooms on board, knowing that Fabulous vessel! Sure, she's an aged lady, but the hosts' pride of ownership shows throughout. Well worth the $$ for the experience and the history. It isn't modern, it doesn't have central air and heat, there isn't a lot of light on deck (doesn't need it with Friday Harbor's ambient light gently illuminating the deck); but.......it's a true live-aboard experience with tons of style, character, and history. Hosts have provided an outstanding library, lots of games, musical instruments, and eclectic furnishings in the salon to keep you busy. It's a true, 100% sailing vessel experience, without leaving port. Great experience. Great hosts. Great marina.

Pros: Friday Harbor is quite nice . Drove around the island which was fun . Winery , War of Pigs sites , lighthouses . Etc .

Cons: The ship was moored in the harbor . The rear stateroom is to small , to old and just cramped . We were there . Low ceilings , no way to walk around . The forward stateroom has an easier to navigate bedroom , shower , updated toilet . Higher ceilings . And a galley right off the bedroom or way more room , slight updates and just more comfortable . Was 2 spacious rooms vs 1 in stern . So do not stay in the stern . Avoid it . Not worth the money . We were in the stern . Owner was sick came and fixed a good breakfast anyway . She being sick should not have come on board .

Pros: We loved being in the harbor and the breakfast included in the room price. The king size bed was comfortable. Hanging out topside having a drink was nice too.

Cons: We were under the impression that we were staying in the larger room with the salon. The aft stateroom doesn’t have enough headroom to stand up. From what we understand, it’s a Booking.com issue. Having a lighting source to be able to use the deck after dark would’ve been nice!

Cons: No air conditioning and room was always very warm. They did provide fan so that was always going. The freezer was set too high and it froze all my fruit that we had bought for our trip home. No breakfast provided.

Pros: Facilities were very clean.

Cons: Wifi sucked.

Cons: Absolutely horrible!Room converted from a patio.Exterior siding on paper thin walls,barely a ceiling,cables running free.Room not cleaned AT ALL 1 day,dirty towels folded back on rack next day, dirty sink, hair in bathtub (NOT mine).Awful bed,no parking!

Pros: Has free parking. The rooms are nice and cozy. They have lavender soap and shampoo conditioners from local lavender farms.

Cons: the air conditioning is too loud, and goes on and off repeatedly. Difficult to sleep at night because of this.

Pros: Loved having the pool and bikes! Location was up the hill from the harbor but just a short walk. Staff was great - holding our bags after checkout while went on whale watch. Also, they let kids use pool while we waited for ferry after checkout!

Pros: The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful providing great tips for us during our trip. The hotel provided bikes to ride around the island and had a coffee cart open each morning. The pool was also an added bonus.

Pros: Loved the location, the rooms, the spa, the service. Everything was great, I'd totally recommend it to anyone!

Cons: TV was a little small, but that was pretty much it.

Cons: The beds were too firm for our tastes. Had some issues with the spa but they were resolved.

Pros: The hotel was immaculate. Very good location, just a short walk from the ferry terminal. Our room had a huge 2 person jet tub. And a dent sized balcony with chairs.

Cons: The only issue I had with this hotel is that we were walk on passengers on the ferry, so we had no where to store our belongings while waiting for our strict 4:00pm check in time. So you’re either stuck carrying it around or if you contact them ahead of time they will adjust your pass code to let you into the lobby only where you can leave your belongings unattended because there is no staff there. Another thing that was hard was a 10:00 am check out, where again if you wanted to spend your day doing things around town before you get back on the ferry you are faced with toting around your luggage. Most hotels give at least until 11 or 12 for checkout.

Pros: We stayed in the San Juan room. It was perfect. The room is cozy and comfortable. Incredible views and close to so many excellent restaurants and shops.

Cons: We loved everything.

Pros: Location was convenient to the ferry ans we walked on. Check in was very easy - the first time we have done it this way. The birthday card and chocolate bar they left for my wife was very thoughtful. Nice to get tea before bed.

Cons: I got the room with the nice tub as a treat for my wife bit it looked moldy around the tiles, she wouldn't use it except to shower. The property seemed run down for the price - peeling paint on the deck as well as black marks along the exterior wall. We were rather astounded by the noisy, foul- mouthed, loud conversations from the people delivering beer and wine to the grocery store next door this morning. Not the fault of the hotel but it is a result of the location. Pricey hotel room and we had to brush our teeth in the sitting area and the AC unit blocks access to the sofa if someone is sitting there. We didn't bring our car but beware that parking is a challenge.

Pros: Location is great. It is clean and breakfast is provided.

Cons: Definitely not a 3 star. 2 Star at most. Small rooms, very thin walls, small bathroom. Noisy interior hallways.

Pros: Very stylish furnishings & comfortable bed. Also, a nice continental breakfast provided & helpful staff. Location was good for walking to restaurants & close to Friday Harbor.

Cons: The shower was in a large jetted tub, which required stepping up on tiled stairs & then a big step down to the floor of shower! A bit difficult for someone with short legs & crickety knees, even with a grab bar. Also, no off-street parking.

Pros: Centrally located near food.

Cons: The room, Cypress 14, came with earplugs for when the grocery store behind hotel gets loads from suppliers at 6:30 am. The room faces the west and gets warm, since there is no A/C and it on the 3rd, top, floor. Can see view of the bay...from bathroom.

Pros: The staff are INCREDIBLE! The location can’t be beat! We stayed in the bay view suites - the room was spacious, well appointed and perfect!

Pros: The setting was gorgeous and the historic hotel was extremely charming. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Will will definitely go again.

Cons: No one sold stamps
