Pros: Well, firstly, we got upgraded to a room with amazing view of the Great Torii Gate, but unfortunately the Gate is being reconstructed. The room is very spacious and very clean. I love the public bath that is available for guests and there is a good in-house store that you can purchase souvenirs and food items too.
6.0 Good
Pros: Attentive staff from the pier pickup to drop off at departure.
Cons: Breakfast could have been better. Now sure why they offered us western breakfast. Surly I wasn’t asked or a choice was offered.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location beside the ocean overlooking Miyajima. Lovely lounge and bar in lobby with large windows and great sea views. There was an excellent piano player in the evening playing mellow jazz. Large rooms with comfortable beds. Nice hot spring bath. Really gorgeous 'rentable' private onsen baths. Free shuttle to/from JR train station and boat port to Miyajima. Perfect place to stay if you are driving and plan to visit Miyajima. Some staff can speak English.
Cons: Hotel is slightly outdated - but extremely well kept. When the hotel is very busy, the hot spring baths are quite crowded.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are helpful. Hot bath is ❤️. Very clean. Room was upraded upon request. Free shuttle bus to and from hotel. The view of Miyajima island is best to look at from this hotel.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Great view on the lake and Miyajima island Nice onsen and breakfast view
Cons: I was extremely shocked and disappointed to hear that the Itsuku-shima on Miyajima island, let's say THE major and only reason to go there is under renovation and impossible to be seen. The hotel is totaly dishonest and never communicated about it especially regarding their cruise that they still propose to the guest to see ... the famous tori. If I knew I would have never been there now. Feel a bit fooled by the hotel...
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Did not have breakfast.
Cons: Everything was good.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very nice and in a fantastic location. Had a room with an amazing view on the sea and the Myajima Tori. The room had all Japan amenities, Japanese dinner very nice and breakfast European style. Did a private onsen with view on the sea. The staff was excellent.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The hotel had a great view, however location wise not sure. They do provide shuttle services but just until 7pm .
Cons: The room was very old and the tv was very tiny. The room looks like it hasn’t changed since 80’s and is in desperate need of an update!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from the room facing the sea and mountain was beautiful. Breakfast is also amazing. Staffs were helpful.
Cons: It took some time for hot water to come by in the bathroom.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The little shop on site is cute and had lots of souvenirs and snacks. They also had a shuttle between the hotel and train station that was very convenient.
Cons: Nothing terrible to report, but pretty much everything about this hotel was 'meh'. The rooms weren't particularly comfortable. The breakfast was below average, though they did surprise me with a tasty pork belly benedict option. There's a (very short) night cruise to the Miyajima temple offered from the hotel for an extra charge, which we were excited about. Unfortunately no one bothered to mention that the famous torii gate was under construction and behind a big white screened box. The cruise was pointless since we couldn't see the gate at all. Had they told us, we probably wouldn't have paid for the cruise.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent views of Miyajima and the Torii Gate. Size of room is huge and very comfortable. Good onsen on property.
Cons: The property is a little old and dated. But comfortable.

Pros: Everything. The staff is exceptional, and the amount of care and attention to detail was beyond anything I have ever experienced. The whole stay was so good it made me want to stay longer.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful hotel on a magnificent island. Three of us were sharing a room and happily we were upgraded to a traditional room when we arrived. The room was immaculate and spacious with a giant bathroom area. There was also an unbelievable massage chair in the room. We fought over it! We were given "lounge wear" to wear around the hotel, but as Americans were were too uninformed to know exactly when to wear the outfits. Seeing the other guests later we figured it out... dinner and breakfast (at least). Because we were there during the coronavirus outbreak the hotel did not serve their usual buffet. They compensated by serving a "course" meal for dinner and breakfast and they probably served all the foods that were on the buffet for the meals, an extraordinary amount of excellently prepared, beautifully served, delicious food. The service by the staff was flawless and omnipresent. The onsen is located on the top floor with a magnificent view of the water. It's just a fantastic hotel.
Cons: Nothing!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice room
Cons: The bathroom was to cold!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, nice, clean rooms, onsen. Book half board, it’s worth it!! Delicious!
Cons: We visited during the winter and the bath room wasn’t very easy to heat.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very polite and helpful, the buffet was good, beds were comfortable, room service was exceptionally fast and the main market area was within a 5-10 minute walk of the hotel
Cons: The shower head for our room was in an awkward spot so it wet the whole floor and since it was so cold, it takes a really long time for the floor to dry
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was luxurious, very clean, huge and provided a lot of facilities. There is a small bar and tea area at the entrance of the hotel that's available to guests. Hot springs are located on the last floor and have a stunning view on the coast. Both breakfast and dinner were awesome: a lot of choice, ingredients were fresh and of good quality. There was western style and Japanese style options, everything was delicious! Drinks were included in the dinner, again, a lot of choice (beer, wine, sake, ...). As usual in Japan, the staff was very kind, nice and helpful.
Cons: Hot springs had a nice view but the bath itself had nothing special (no rocks or vegetation). However it seems to be the same in most indoor hot springs in Japan.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They went above and beyond to find a missing item for me
Cons: Absolutely nothing. Service was amazing 10/10! More if possible!

Pros: The Ryokan was a perfect first experience for anyone who hasn’t stayed in a traditional Japanese hotel, slippers provided; no shoes/ slippers in certain areas all a fantastic experience especially if you are new to the customs. The lady was very friendly, welcoming - make sure you put slippers on at the front door. We were able to leave bags early before check in. Perfect water view, we could see deer sleeping outside. The tatami was the most comfortable bed on our whole trip! We had the best sleep, hint the light above bed has a cable you pull three different times for mood lighting.
Cons: We plugged the fridge in at the start of the evening, it started to make a noise at the end of the night. We just unplugged it and it was fine. It would be good to have coffee bags but the green tea provided was delicious!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, just a stones throw from the ferry port. The owner is a very friendly and helpful woman, she greeted us and saw us off the next day with a smile! The room was very clean and the futons were the most comfortable we have slept on. We were allowed to leave our bags for a few hours after check out which was great too. We’d recommend this hotel to anyone!
Cons: We wish we could’ve stayed for longer!

Pros: Everything from the welcoming visit to the fantastic breakfast with a view, from the dream rooftop onsen to the Michelin star level dinner. The staff is the kindest and most helpful, the cosmetic products are the best Japanese organic brand. I'm impressed
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service, delicious foods served on trays.
Cons: The size of tables used to serve dinners and breakfasts for 2 persons is too large. And when covered with white table cloth, it gives an unattractive white expansive space. Cosiness of the dining room should be created with smaller tables, softer lighting and more appropriate music.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff treated you like a God. The beds were extremely nice, the onsen was beautiful with the outside bath. The food was one of the best that I have ever taken in my entire life and the view made it complete.
Cons: The room was pretty warm because the air conditioning was on heating. Everything was written in Japanese so I had no idea. However opening the window fixed the problem.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb location. I got a room with a fantastic Seaview. The room's interior design and decor are beautiful yet functional. Staffs are very attentive and friendly. Services are beyond expectations. Excellent traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner. Great variety of food made from local raw materials on the island. I definitely will come back and stay here again.

Pros: We had an absolutely beautiful tatami room with a balcony overlooking the sea with the ferry port within sight. The facility is spotless. The staff was very kind and helpful. It was a beautiful and peaceful stay.
Cons: The room is over the front porch where people smoked, so we could smell smoke from our room on the 4th floor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Completely exceeded my expectations since the hotel was very reasonably priced. Firstly, the service from reception (potentially owner) was incredible, as they went above and beyond to retrieve our missing luggage in transit from an external luggage company. The room was thoroughly clean, as a lot of items were wrapped in sanitised. The rooms were also bigger then what’s presented in photos (double room), with a balcony where you can sit outside and enjoy beach views and the room even had a private bathroom (shower &toilet) which was fantastic. Last location was soo perfect, only a few steps away from ferry port and on the Main Street. This was one of our favourite hotels of our trip :) thank you soo much!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so incredibly friendly. We staying at Sakuraya for our honeymoon and the room had small touches to make the experience more memorable. One of the staff members, Yuto-san drew a fantastic picture if the O-torii for us along with a personal note wishing us a happy marriage. The view from the room was incredible. If you are staying on Miyajima I highly recommend Sakuraya
