Excellent 9.0
Pros: Beautiful guest house with a wonderful host. In the common room there are a lot of traditional Japanese artifacts and toys to play around with.
Cons: The futon bed was not as comfortable as in other places.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The owner of the guesthouse was super friendly and spent some time teaching me about Japanese calligraphy and offered me some sake. I am also very glad I had been upgraded from dormitory to private room without any extra cost since I was the only customer that night.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Junia (the host who checked us in) was incredibly gracious and accommodating. He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and felt welcomed! We stayed during my mother's birthday and he gifted her a beautiful ceramic cup. She was so touched by his generosity. Moreover, the wheel on my luggage suddenly broke and he immediately offered to drive us to the ferry terminal. This place is worth every penny! Hospitality 10/10.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: They had a private bathing area, and because there where a lot of cancellations I got a free upgrade! Which is awesome! The host is there to help you and give the best possible experience.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Was an amazing place to stay, beautiful and has its own little onsen. I was able to see raccoons on my first night there, as the visited the front door step! The staff were lovely and gave me so many recommendations for my stay on the island.
Cons: *About Miyajima, not the hotel* Taxis stop running after 7pm on the island, so getting to the guesthouse with suitcases after that time is a struggle
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautiful building in a great location with the friendliest staff. Anyone going to Miyajima should stay here.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The host was marvellous- friendly and informative. Excellent space, breakfast and close to all activities. We loved our stay
Excellent 10.0
Cons: Very good
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Lovely staff

Excellent 8.0
Pros: Near the market and the shrine in walking distance Lovely place Very nice staff
Cons: -
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Everything it was such a great experience to emerse your self in Japanese culture. From the warm welcome the moment we arrived to the fantastic experience with our hostess Ayia. If you are lucky enough to have her as your hostess immediately you will have kicked a goal. Ayia just made us so welcome and had such great humer she was fantastic. Also the onsen was fantastic as it was my first time using one. And the location was just fantastic. If you're going to visit myrijima this is the place to stay.
Cons: The only thing we didn't like was the very unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: the rooms, the service, the food (especially the food!), the bath, the surrounding, the whole location - it is difficult to find something better
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Nice typical ryokan. Good food. Good service.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The property was well located but outside of the Main Street so was nice and relaxing. The onsen was beautiful and a deer walked past when I was in the outside onsen. Food was traditional Japanese and very high quality. Breakfast was lovely in the breakfast room.
Cons: Nothing, it was a highlight of the trip and better (and cheaper) than the ryokan which we stayed in Kyoto.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very professional staff, excellent services
Cons: Great dinner
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This place is spectacular but it is definitely a very pricey experience.
Cons: On top of that we were also charged an onsen tax, which seems a bit out of touch.

Excellent 10.0
Pros: Staff were so helpful . The evening meal was spectacular
Cons: Nil bad to say
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Lovely staff, very attentive friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: It’s dated, and needs some investment, but that also gives it its charm
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Views from hotel, friendly staff
Cons: Would’ve helped if we had earlier breakfast options
Excellent 10.0
Pros: How accommodating they were! We were almost 2 hours late for dinner, and they still served it to us beautifully, with a smile!
Cons: Just a little had to get to, but that's because we tried to get their on our own! They will gladly pick you up at the ferry station! Let them do it!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The place was absolutely beautiful. When we arrived at the JR Ferry terminal, we asked the information desk. They called the hotel and we waited 10 minutes to be picked up. The driver pointed out the places of interest as we were driven to the hotel. We were able to walk back the following day sight seeing as we returned to the ferry.
Cons: We wished we stayed more than one night.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: A wonderful Japanese experience all round. Beautiful spacious room with fantastic view. The private outdoor Onsen under the stars with the view of the temple was amazing. The traditional food was delicious. Staff were excellent, very kind and helpful.

Pros: 1. Friendly stuff 2. Amazing food (breakfast and dinner), we stay two days, dinners are different style. 3. Good location 4. Good service 5. Outdoor hot spring
Cons: None
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything. The staff is exceptional, and the amount of care and attention to detail was beyond anything I have ever experienced. The whole stay was so good it made me want to stay longer.
Cons: The most I can think of is that the hotel has a midnight curfew, which actually doesn't even really matter because everything in Miyajima closes very early anyway. There was honestly nothing I actually didn't like.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Breakfast was excellent and room was very large
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very clean facilities. Staff were very helpful and always looked for ways to help out. Onsen was nice.
Cons: Was pretty far from the ferry terminal. Took a while to walk and was uphill. A bit pricey for the distance.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff is really friendly, there's also an onsen for customers! The room was really comfortable. The best : I forgot something at the hotel, but the staff reacted immediately and did efforts for me to get it back! I really recommend.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious! The staff were very accommodating and informative. The room where we stayed at is clean and spacious. Also, we had a free shuttle going to the hotel when we arrived in Miyajima and another free shuttle when we went back to the ferry station. It was very convenient. My best friend and I booked this hotel to celebrate my birthday in Miyajima. Hotel Kikunoya made my day extra special by surprising me with a birthday cake and a lively song while we are having dinner. It was truly memorable for me. I even cried because I was so touched. Thank you very much!
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Staff was friendly, courteous n very helpful.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff was very kind and helpful. It was raining when I arrived. They drive me to dinner and picked me up. And they offer a free shuttle to and from the ferry terminal. Great public bath.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff is very nice and helpful ! The onsen is beautiful and quiet, one bath is outdoor and there is a footbath ...
Cons: The small double bed is very small : 120 cm

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Very kind and nice staff! thank you very much!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Well, firstly, we got upgraded to a room with amazing view of the Great Torii Gate, but unfortunately the Gate is being reconstructed. The room is very spacious and very clean. I love the public bath that is available for guests and there is a good in-house store that you can purchase souvenirs and food items too.
Good 6.0
Pros: Attentive staff from the pier pickup to drop off at departure.
Cons: Breakfast could have been better. Now sure why they offered us western breakfast. Surly I wasn’t asked or a choice was offered.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I was impressed with everything about this hotel: the clean and spacious facilities, the amazing staff, the numerous amenities and the exquisite food - do order your dinner in advance, it’s worth it!
Cons: Nothing!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great rooms and onsen. Very friendly staff who will do everything to please their guests.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Excellent, comfortable rooms in a well located hotel close to Itsukushima shrine. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms had a lovely view of the bay and Itsukushima shrine. Would recommend.
Cons: I didn't find much information about the facilities at the hotel in the room. We ended up dining out instead of using the hotel restaurant because we weren't sure where it was.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Very warm welcomed and great service for everything Best staff Good atmosphere and mixed modern and Japanese room style Just 3 min walk from Itsukushima shrine Free shuttle service to ferry

Pros: Misty Mountain Views from the bedroom Windows.
Cons: Very low level of English, so communication was a struggle. Location was a 5-7mins Taxi ride costing about 1200 to 1500 yen, about USD12 to USD15. Absolutely impossible to walk to hotel , as Hotel was really deep into the countryside (inaka ). Feels quite scary and eerie at night.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: very friendly staff the room is nice and the restaurant downstairs is ok
Cons: nothing

Pros: Very quaint.
Cons: Can’t think of anything we didn’t like.

Excellent 9.2
Pros: Excellent onsen, proximity to old town and bridge, onsen, breakfast and on-site restaurants, really helpful staff
Cons: The rooms were dated and the whole hotel needs a refurbishment
Excellent 8.0
Pros: All meals were exceptional .Staff were also .We came 6 years ago and will be back again soon. Thank you for a most wonderful stay.
Cons: Not in your control but the roof top next door is a little ugly.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Location was perfect; it overlooked the Iwakuni castle and the Kintaikyo bridge. Rooms were so modern and clean. Onsen were also very nice and you can use it and have a unique experience with each bath. They were so helpful and friendly as well. The breakfast buffet had plenty of options for vegetarians as well.
Cons: The dining options were quite limited and there weren’t good prices for the food there.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: I really liked the onsen, which was connected to the hotel. The open-air baths gave you a good view of the bridge and the castle which was really good. The staff was extremely kind and attentive, and the hotel itself has that older, traditional look. It's really nice if you like hotel with character. Also quite convenient if you are sightseeing in Iwakuni. Buses always running to and from the JR station. If you're trying to get back to Hiroshima, the highway bus terminal is just next door to the hotel.
Cons: I had a smoking room, which really wasn't that comfortable for me and it's honestly my fault for not correcting that. But I left the window opened which helped with the smell throughout the night. The room itself is older, so it's not as clean (if you have a dust allergy, this may be an issue).
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The view from my room and the onsen was amazing!!! The staff were fantastic, really helpful! I loved the onsen and the breakfast in the morning was wonderful! Amazing stay, I'll definitely be back!!
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Great stay at the hotel. Great location with amazing views facing the Kintai Bridge. Room was simple and comfortable.
Cons: There was very limited dining options around the hotel. In the end, I decided to eat in the hotel, which is slightly pricier. I also didn't like that there are separate cold and hot water faucets for the basin instead of a mixer.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The location of hotel is convenient.
Cons: The whole town has nothing much to see except the bridge which is under maintenance and the cable car closed.

Pros: Ir was Raining and they were super kind to pick me up at the ferry station
Cons: Some artifacts were a little bit run down
Good 7.0
Pros: Located in a quiet area near the aquarium. Friendly staff and an on site onsen. They kindly took care of our baggage after check out so we could explore freely. Room was spacious with a great sitting area by the picture window.
Cons: This was my first stay at ryokan style hotel. I am afraid my western back needs a bit more cushion to sleep well. Also, on our side of the hotel the public address speaker was very near and unwelcome at 0700
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Reception were so kind and wonderful from the lovely man on check in to the wonderful women on check out we cannot fault it! , beautiful onsen, wonderful housekeeping staff, 10 out of 10 clean rooms, attention to detail, free shuttle to and from the ferry by the kind members of staff. Seriously visiting this island and staying here was a dream come true thank you so much to everyone who was so kind to us your staff are an asset to you and we will definitely be back! ❤️
Good 7.9
Pros: Great dinner ! And hot spring !
Cons: A bit far from open bars at night
Okay 5.0
Pros: Insensitive
Cons: Bedding and unclean. Room
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Very comfortable large beds. Onsen was great to use, temperature good, water jets nice for massage after hard day of climbing mountain. We did not have any meals there, but was an available option by arrangement. The location away from the ferry terminal has good ammenity, still close to sights and centre of township.
Cons: The hotel has seen better days. The taps in the onsen were difficult to use.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff were very friendly and even if they had little English they went out of their way to help in anyway they could. The room itself was spacious and very comfortable. It was my first night on a futon and I slept soundly

Pros: Close to the airport, so in that sense convenient. Also only a short bus ride to the very picturesque Iwakuni Castle, the beautiful Kintai Bridge, and some lovely gardens.

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Beautiful location beside the ocean overlooking Miyajima. Lovely lounge and bar in lobby with large windows and great sea views. There was an excellent piano player in the evening playing mellow jazz. Large rooms with comfortable beds. Nice hot spring bath. Really gorgeous 'rentable' private onsen baths. Free shuttle to/from JR train station and boat port to Miyajima. Perfect place to stay if you are driving and plan to visit Miyajima. Some staff can speak English.
Cons: Hotel is slightly outdated - but extremely well kept. When the hotel is very busy, the hot spring baths are quite crowded.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff are helpful. Hot bath is ❤️. Very clean. Room was upraded upon request. Free shuttle bus to and from hotel. The view of Miyajima island is best to look at from this hotel.
Okay 5.0
Pros: Great view on the lake and Miyajima island Nice onsen and breakfast view
Cons: I was extremely shocked and disappointed to hear that the Itsuku-shima on Miyajima island, let's say THE major and only reason to go there is under renovation and impossible to be seen. The hotel is totaly dishonest and never communicated about it especially regarding their cruise that they still propose to the guest to see ... the famous tori. If I knew I would have never been there now. Feel a bit fooled by the hotel...
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Did not have breakfast.
Cons: Everything was good.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The hotel is very nice and in a fantastic location. Had a room with an amazing view on the sea and the Myajima Tori. The room had all Japan amenities, Japanese dinner very nice and breakfast European style. Did a private onsen with view on the sea. The staff was excellent.
Okay 5.0
Pros: The hotel had a great view, however location wise not sure. They do provide shuttle services but just until 7pm .
Cons: The room was very old and the tv was very tiny. The room looks like it hasn’t changed since 80’s and is in desperate need of an update!!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The view from the room facing the sea and mountain was beautiful. Breakfast is also amazing. Staffs were helpful.
Cons: It took some time for hot water to come by in the bathroom.
Okay 4.0
Pros: The little shop on site is cute and had lots of souvenirs and snacks. They also had a shuttle between the hotel and train station that was very convenient.
Cons: Nothing terrible to report, but pretty much everything about this hotel was 'meh'. The rooms weren't particularly comfortable. The breakfast was below average, though they did surprise me with a tasty pork belly benedict option. There's a (very short) night cruise to the Miyajima temple offered from the hotel for an extra charge, which we were excited about. Unfortunately no one bothered to mention that the famous torii gate was under construction and behind a big white screened box. The cruise was pointless since we couldn't see the gate at all. Had they told us, we probably wouldn't have paid for the cruise.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Excellent views of Miyajima and the Torii Gate. Size of room is huge and very comfortable. Good onsen on property.
Cons: The property is a little old and dated. But comfortable.

Pros: Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet is included featuring Japanese dishes. Neighboring the Hotel is a coin operated laundromat, a convenience store (like 7-11), and ramen/gyoza cafe. Free parking and immediate access to highway 2. Room is tiny by American standards but very clean. Bathroom has a deep soaking tub. Liquid soap and shampoo are provided as well as toothbrush and paste and disposable razor. Water boiler for tea or instant coffee is also in the room. LCD TV shows local broadcast.
Cons: The only problem I had was connecting to the internet. It is Not WiFi nor USB. It is LAN connection so if you want to us your laptop you will need a LAN to USB converter. Also, if you have never used your email accounts in Japan you may have trouble logging in unless you have a way to verify your account. I finally managed to get mine working by using my mobile phone number to get a verification code texted to me.
