The view.
Hotels like this are fine if you get them at a really rock-bottom rate, but for the amount we paid I wasn't expecting mouldy bathrooms, chipped paintwork, tired DIY decor and fittings that come off in your hand. The whole place needs a serious make over, or a big cut in its prices.

Despite the age of the hotel it was kept spotless.
Whilst we appreciate that it is a two star hotel we did think that it is in need of refurbishment.

I accept that no 2 star hotel is going to be luxurious or well equipped however the Bel Angle was very dirty with stained restaurant walls and peeling wallpaper in the room. The whole place smelled of cooking fat; all of our clothes smelled of this for the rest of our stay in France. The only reason we stayed the night is because there was a festival in the town and all other accommodation was fully booked. It was so bad, we were prepared to lose the cost of the booking and pay for an alternative. I would definitely not recommend it to a friend or colleague (or even someone I don't like).

The Hotel Bel Angle is situated in les Angles ski resort, in the Eastern Pyrenees just 150 metres from the cable cars. The hotel offers panoramic views of Lac de Matemale.
