Charme Hotel Wildthout

A very friendly welcome at reception and from all the staff and lovely cooking smells from the kitchen. Clearly a lot of effort has been (successfully) put into the design and decoration. The room was basic, simple and quite small but with all the bits you need. The restaurant and other shared facilities looked particularly nice. There is also a garden and pool and the hotel is surrounded by mature trees - with the temperature at 35 it felt a bit like being in the jungle! I guess this is more like a restaurant with a hotel than the other way around. Seemed popular with locals. I ate in the restaurant on both nights of my stay - highlights were the unexpectedly excellent vegetables and the desserts.

Not so sure about the fish though - I had red bream and then plaice - both a little bland for me. The room did not have air conditioning - this is not a problem for me and I did not expect it but A/C dependent travellers would have suffered with the outside temperature being exceptionally high (for NL that is!). There was some noise from the nearby road - but then I was sleeping with the window open and there are more rooms "round the back"
